All around great trip!

We have no complaints, everything was clean, food was good, and beach was unreal! Did not get to any excursions on the island but only heard great experiences from others. Very accommodating, friendly, and helpful staff.

Food the biggest downfall!

This is a review based on the 24 hours we stayed at the Memories Caribe. The overall impression on arrival was good, but it didn't last. The grounds are very well kept and the common areas were reasonably clean. The room was nice and the view from the room was good (facing the lagoon block 20). The quirky part of the room was, not only was there no bathroom door, but not even a door separating the toilet, hope you don't mind hearing your spouse have a bowl movement! The lobby is a giant waste [... read more] of space. The "lobby bar" isn't even in the lobby but down a hallway and is so small that it only has room for about 30 people. There is an outside area but there is no access directly from the bar, you have to leave the bar, walk back towards the lobby, around the corner to get to it. I can only assume that that is why no glasses are allowed out there, bit of a strange layout. The food. This was the deal breaker for us. The buffet restaurant was sad. There is obviously a lack of talent leading the kitchen. The lunch and dinner were almost identical in selections. The biggest let down was the meat and seafood. The only prepared meat dishes were simply hacked up chicken or pork, still on the bone, roasted. The sea food was sad. Tiny clams and crab with no meat in them and a very limited supply of fish or meat at the tiny fresh cooked stations. I wondered why everyone was lining up for fresh cooked stuff, but soon found out that is the only way to get anything other than rice and veg or something you had to fight to get off a bone. The final straw was the breakfast. I was greeted at the hot table by a pan of bacon that was not just under cooked but actually RAW. The kicker was I saw one of the chefs come out and look at it, someone must have said something, and he turned around and walked away leaving it in there. That was it, I couldn't eat there for nine days knowing this was what was on offer, it was illness waiting to happen. It kind of explained why the snack bar guy was doing so many burgers and fries all the time. I should have known when we sat down at dinner and there was only 1 knife and 1 fork on the table, no spoons, no dessert forks, no extra utensils like at every other resort buffet I have ever been to. So by 2 pm the second day we were moved to another resort thanks to the very hard working and understanding Sunwing Rep Betty, we can't thank her enough and the staff of the Melia Cayo Coco who were able to find us a room on such short notice. Betty and Sunwing saved our holiday. Bottom line, until they do something about the food situation I would never go back or recommend this resort to anyone and I think Sunwing should reconsider what they are selling to people when it comes to this resort.

Good Resort

It is a good resort, nice landscape and a beautiful beach. Food in bar and and restaurants is OK. Beach used for Caribe is too crowded with customers, hard to find chairs and spot to put them on the beach. Our room was nice and clean. My cellphone was stolen and I think (90%) it was stolen by people from the hotel crew, most likely by one of the artists performing on stage. It happened during "White Party".

Nice quiet place

Beach is almost always sheltered from prevailing winds so you can swim, or just hang out in the water. The water is shallow for a long ways out and as such is very warm water for snorkeling, however there are very limited fish to see directly in front of resort. It has the best Volleyball court I have being on in a long time, actually ever, with soft sand and shelter from Sun through the day. The rooms fall in 2 classes really, old and newer. Old smells, air conditioning maybe, patio doors actually have holes cut in frames to reduce smell but let's mozzi's and sand flies in??? Never mind the gap on the patio doors themselves. New is the way to go for most people. Recommended for a quiet resort many couples of all ages, not many singles here and I have spent 3 weeks over various times here. Quiet for me was why I went back, but not likely again. MEMORIES: NICE

So much fun!! I recently travelled to Cuba Dec 2-9/2018. Upon our arrival we were greeted by friendly, accommodating staff. This was my 4th time travelling to Cuba and this is my second time to Cayo Coco . The Cuban people are amazing, kind, and warm-spirited souls. They go out of their way to make your feel welcome and at home. The nightly entertainment was fantastic. Every night at 9PM with a great variety. I especially loved the Micheal Jackson Show. The Cubans are so talented. The f [... read more]ood was not the best that I have had in Cuba but it was good. The main buffet did not have the variety that I have had on other vacations to Cuba. But it always had fresh fruit and bread available. I enjoyed the breakfasts the most having Omelettes cooked while you wait. The buffet was stocked full at all times and there was always plenty of staff around if you needed any assistance. The resort grounds were very well manicured and cared for and the beach was so beautiful. They are still recovering from Hurricane Irma so there is light construction intermittently in very few spots of the resort but it had no negative impact on us at all. It was actually interesting to see the construction techniques they use in Cuba. The beach has a pizza place which makes delicious pizzas. The rooms are well decorated in a modest fashion. The maid service was awesome and always made intricate towel animals on our beds, flowers, thank you notes, fresh towels and water bottles. This is a resort to return to.

Wonderful Beach and Great Resort - 4 Star

We have been to Cuba 20+ times - to 3 *, 4* and 5* so I feel I have a good idea of how one resort measures up against another. Here is my opinion of Memories Caribe. This small resort, 328 guest rooms, is ideally situated just 25 minutes from the airport. On the bus they were selling 2 can of beer for $5.00 - Canadian. Upon arrival we were greeted by friendly, efficient staff. Check in was a breeze and our bags were delivered to our room within 10 minutes. I did exchange $100.00 Cdn a [... read more]t the airport and received 67 pesos. I also exchanged $100.00 Cdn at the hotel and received 67 pesos. It was never a problem getting 1 pesos for tipping at the front desk. Also, they sold internet cards - 1 hour for 1 peso. Wifi reception was great in the lobby an around the main bar and outside seating area. We were situated in Building 21 which was central and just a few minutes walk to the front lobby, lobby bar, buffet, a la cartes, pool an the beach. You can't go wrong - there are great pathways to travel on. **More lights along the pathways would make evening walks easier.** Our building has the recently renovated rooms with combination locks, plenty of shelves, lots of hangers, a dresser which has 2 shelves and houses the coffee maker, coffee mugs, and on the other side the bar fridge. Two night stands with drawers. Lamps - all 3 worked!! We had a king size bed, a sofa, small table and two firm chairs. The bathroom does not have a door but honestly, my husband and I didn't find it that big a deal. Patio door opened easily and had a lock. A small wooden table and 2 firm chairs out on the deck. The beach - OMG - amazing. Lots of beach chairs but the "save the chair" games is alive and well there - just like every other resort, so be prepared to be out there before 7:00 to get a prime location. There are always 2 men there to find you a chair if you need the assistance. There are two beach bars - one for Diamond Club; and one for the other guests - great service at the one for none-Diamond Club guests. Also next to this bar is a pizza hut. He is there between 12:00 - 3:30 ish. Individual pizzas and you pick out the toppings from pineapple, ham, gr pepper and cheese. They were delicious and free. But please, don't forget to tip!! On the Diamond Club side of the beach they have a food hut that served chicken burgers, hamburgers and pork buns - all the food there smelled delicious. Wishing I had booked Diamond Club. The Entertainment Staff - These folks are the ones that make my vacation! A huge shout out to Michel (Cheese Ball), Victor, Zoe, Dari and the rest of the staff (sorry I forget the names). Besides the morning stretch classes at the pool and at the beach; the aqua aerobics (pool and beach), there are games - bocco, darts, ball toss, volley ball, trivia but also.... Canada Day - celebrated every Thursday afternoon around the pool - so pack you flags, your red t-shirts, hats, and other bling. So much fun. Friday is Cuba Day at the beach in the morning and around the pool in the afternoon - don't miss this - totally awesome. The buffet and the a la cartes. Cuba - you either love the food or you don't. I love the food. Every morning we ate fresh made omelets, or French toast or pancakes. There were lots of veggies, meat slices, cheese and several types of fresh fruit. They have two toasters that work well - to toast their lovely fresh bread. Lunch - until the Ranchon by the beach is rebuilt (saw furniture being delivered last week - so soon...) there is an outside BBQ by the Main Building with Bar/Lobby where you can get a hamburger, chicken burger, ham/cheese bun or French fries or go to the Buffet. Supper - at the buffet - you could get fresh fish, pork,, or chicken freshly prepared for you or go with the prepared foods - we had turkey one night, pork roast another and a delicious huge fish prepared another evening. We had no complaints about the food but.....the house wines - both red and white - are terrible. I am not a wine snob but this wine is gross. I went into the little shop there and bought an Argentina Malbec for 8.40 pesos. It was great. We ended up buying 4 of those during our week. There is a wine store in the main lobby where they have knowledgeable staff who sell bottles from many countries either 10 or 15 pesos. We ate at the Asian restaurant and both loved the food but again, not the house wine. Staff in there were reserved - all business 'are you ready to order' ' here is your food' - are they suppose to be? In the buffet they are smiling and welcoming. We ate at the Mediterranean - the appetizers and the soups were great, both our main courses we did not enjoy or finish. I'd skip that one. We didn't try the Cuban one. There is also a Beans Café - cute little shop - friendly staff - you can get fancy coffees, ice-creams, etc here. Only open 12:00 - 5:00. Every day by the pool Rudy is there making Churros - similar to donuts - and some days he takes them down to the beach to deliver. Remember to tip. He is such a wonderful happy man. The Main Bar off the Lobby and the Sports Bar - called Route 66 - both are great spots. But when we arrived they were 'ice-boxes' - too cold to hang out. Many people said the same thing. I went to the Public Relations and said we love these spots but are too cold to hang out. The next day the temperature was increased - thank you and what a difference. The places had tons of people after that. In the Main Bar they have musicians most nights - great entertainers. One night there were lots of us dancing to the sax music!! The evening shows - we didn't make it to any shows - we are done by that time of day. To the right of the resort at the beach is the Nauti (?) Centre,where you can take out kayaks, paddle boats or go for free catamaran rides. We did the catamarans two days - a huge shout out to Noel and Angel. They made our outings so much fun. Brand new life jackets and catamarans thanks to Hurricane Irma. The staff were amazing here. Not once were we asked for items - our shoes, hats, other items. This does often happen at other resorts. We appreciated that fact. You can't go wrong if you book at this resort. Just remember it is in Cayo Coco - no big City near by. If you want peace and quite - this is the resort to go to.

What we expected !

Our trip to Memories Caribe was very good, we wanted a decent 2nd floor, water view room. We were minutes from the beach, dining, snacks and drinks. Snorkeling was good to the west about a kilometer from the Diamond Club beach and walking for kilometers to the east and west of the Caribe. The buffet was ok for breakfast as eggs and sausage were plentiful and dinner was lots of pasta made fresh. We did 4 a la cartes and they were all good too. Beautiful laid out Resort

Grounds were imaculate and well maintained. Beach was kept clean of natural and man made clutter. Loungers all in good conditioand clean. Staff and gardeners very polite and genuinly interested in your wellbeing. Down fall was the house wine as it was horrendous.... you could buy international wines but they were priced higher than at home. Mixed drinks and cocktails were hit and miss for mix and consistancy. Beautiful beach, but we won't go back to this hotel.

The first thing that bugged us about this trip was that our direct flight to Cayo Coco was changed into one going via Santa Clara. It made our flight almost 2 hours longer. The hotel itself is well kept. The grounds are beautiful. The beach is truly amazing. Maid service was great and the room was always clean with plenty of towels. The water temp in the shower was always cold (colder than ocean water) but since it was always more than 31*C during the day it wasn't that big of a deal. Overall a relaxing vacation but I doubt we will go back to this particular resourt.

Amazing girls trip at Memories Caribe Cayo Coco

This was a very nice mid-sized Resort. The grounds were beautiful and the beach was so amazing - lots of palapas and palm trees. Transfers and check in were very quick. The staff at the resort truly made this a memorable experience. The service was excellent. They were very friendly and always respectful. The food was not fancy, but the fresh made meat and fish were very good. The pizza at the beach was very good. The Mediterranean a la Carte was very good. I'm confused how this resort has 3 stars

200 words is not long enough for me to review this terrible resort. I'll point form it. -the food is terrible. nothing is warm, they are always out of food. if you show up 10 minutes after the buffet opens they are already all out of chicken and eggs. (happened on two different lunch times) -staff is rude. and pushy a server kept asking my husband for his cologne before we left on our last day. he asked my husband so many times he felt uncomfortable staying at the bar. and we walked around unt [... read more]il we left. They also are mad if you don't tip them, I didn't have money at the swim up bar and when I went twice to get a beer he sighed or just completely ignored me. -someone pooped in the pool, and they just scooped it out didn't inform any guests and went on with they're day. -everything felt dirty or was broken. I could go on and on and would be happy too if needed.

Not all that good yet

the grounds are nice, the rooms not so much, the beach is great, the food is the same day after day. The workers are the best, been there 5 times now it's got a long ways to go to improve. Each year it has gone down hill and food has never change.

Great place

This time was better then last time for me .They were fixing up some place and rooms but they were not close to were wen were.Some rooms were still needing to be fixed and brought up to par.The rooms were clean and big.the maids were very good at cleaning the rooms. Beach saved this resort

Air in room ok but constant low rumble was disturbing.Wife had to climb a chair to unhinge chain lock to open patio door to sit out and smoke then climb chair to lock it up again as this was the only Lock for patio.No toilet paper dispenser for paper. Grab it from toilet tank.This sound four star does it not?Fridge was water only well 1 litre of water per day.Even if you stocked fridge with beer and pop then charge what was used but nooo.4star resort eh!! It is strictly for tourists.No mall or anywhere to shop except for the one shop at the resort.40 minute drive to town at 40 dollars.4star resort? I THINK NOT.

Had an amazing time!

An amazing resort if you're looking for something very quiet ! Beautiful room but smelled like an ashtray for the first few days. But the beach makes everything worthwhile ! Very friendly staff as well.

A very nice resort

The resort has a beautiful garden with lots of palm trees, different kinds of flowers, benches etc. The swimming pool is just in the middle of the resort. It is big enough and has a swim bar. The lookout tower in the resort offers an amazing view - just like on the pictures you can find on the official website of the hotel. There are lots of cafés and bars, everything is near. The resort has a good service. The way to the beach is short and the beach is large and picturesque. The food is tasty. [... read more] The great advantage of the restaurant are fresh prepared meals such as fish, meat, pancakes, omlets and fruit cocktails. The rooms are big and neat, but the bathrooms don´t offer privacy. There is no door between the washroom and the bedroom.

Memmoris caribe

We arrive at Cayo coco at 11:30 insted 10 to 9. We have to landed to varadero to refull. We lost more then 2 hours. Service was fast at the ressort. We got key to our room. We wait one hour for the luggage to be deliver to our room. Didnt happen. My husband has to go to reception to bring our luggage. It was raining like hell. Ac wasnt working. We hear noise in the duct. And guess what? We saw big claws caming out. Big crab. I had enough. Went back to receptions. We got another room. Ac was wor [... read more]king like a truck . Another trip to reception. I was told there is no more room. After when i told receptionist i will be sleeping in the lobby she give us another room. So our night was gone.

Great adult resort

the hotel was very clean, and well maintained. The beds are a little hard for sleeping but a swim on the amazing beach and felt better right away. Worth the diamond upgrade!!! We would stay there again and the breakfast in diamond club is quite good.

Great beach

Room was spacious and clean. Staff was friendly. Food in main restaurant was okay but could be better. All in all this hotel is a good value for the money. I could not get enough of the beach which is great with plenty of lounges around (and shade)

Wonderful Vacation!!

This resort is kept immaculately clean! The rooms were beautiful, very, very spacious, and modern. The grounds and gardens are beautifully maintained. The beach is in a class all on its own...absolutely the most stunning beach I have seen...and the crystal clear water is shallow well out from the beach. The pool is large, clean and great for cooling off after being in the hot sun. We will be back to Memories Caribe! (Highly recommend the catamaran and snorkeling excursion!)
