Best Resort In Varadero

This hotel is amazing. It was my third time visiting, and it just continues to get better. The staff are amazing, the entertainment team are very friendly and make everyday amazing. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone, you will not be disappointed.

Great resort

Just got back from this resort 5 days ago.. had a great time.. stayed in building 2.. this building and 3,4,5 would be your best picks or oceanffonts of course.. the bars are all goid as well.. nestor is fantastic at entertaining.. buffet had great variety but food is cold by the time you sit to eat.. air conditioner maybe the cause as it is very high.. pools are great.. if you do have an issue tho you should see your vacation rep.. ours was kenia.. great lady!!!.. all in all great resort.. woul [... read more]d defintely return.. oh bring face cloths!!..

Good

Grounds, pools, rooms lovely. Food decent.Ala carte ...could not ever get into Italian, Caribbean a la carte ,food and staff equally terrible. Rude staff, food awful,service terrible. Gourmet a la carte was awesome, food, service and staff were amazing. Had dinner there five times.

Beautiful resort

This hotel is gorgeous,the pool area is the best!!Make sure you go early to get a good spot as it fills up pretty quickly.Buildings 2,3 and 4 are the best ones as they are close to everything.Stay away from building 7.They are building a new resort on that side and it can be very noisey and there is no view..Bring extra facecloths and towels...Food is ok..pasta bar and omelette bar was awesome.Bar staff especially Nestor were great.If you have any issues with your room go see your trip rep.Ours  [... read more]was Kenya and she was fabulas!!!I would certainly go back to this resort..

All went well till the last day

Had a wonderful experience till the final day. My friend took a tumble and really hurt herself and no one helped her. Seeing that I went to the bar and brought my own zip lock bag and asked the bartender to fill it with ice as she is hurt. I was disgusted when he continued making drinks serving others alcohol as I asked him actually begged him...he again shrugged me off like it was more important to get people intoxicated then to help someone who was hurt..went to the front desk to complain and [... read more] language barrier there. My bus arrived to be brought to the airport or would have seen hotel manager let me tell you I'm not impressed and will not return

Good resort - lacking in service

I have stayed at H10 Ocean Casa del Mar in Cayo Santa Maria 9 months ago which lead myself and my boyfriend to book at this hotel in Varadero. For the price, we couldn't complain though we thought that the service - especially in the restaurants - were lacking. We thought maybe it was due to our age (early 20s) but it was lacking to say the least (i.e., we would go through breakfast without even being offered a coffee). Also - the food whether in the "A la carte" or buffet, was always cold u [... read more]nless prepared at the seafood/pasta/meat stations (cooked per order). But, no one goes to cuba for the food unfortunately. Considering everything else, it wasn't terrible. The room was always clean, the resort is maintained, the lobby pool views are brilliant (especially at sunset), and the resort isn't big so you never feel overwhelmed or lost. We booked this trip to Varadero for the sole purpose of going to Havana for a day and that we did and found relaxation along with it. Needless to say, we could have definitely stayed a week more if time permitted despite the faults.

I enjoyed my stay the resort was clean and well groomed.

I was surprised that so many tripping hazards were built into the construction. I MANAGED TO FALL OFF THE SIDEWALK LIKE A TREE FALLING OVER BY THE WEDDING GAZEBO ! THE SIDEWALK SITS HIGH IN THAT SPOT ABOVE THE SOIL, I came home with a broken shoulder bone as this happening less than an hour before the bus took me to the airport.

Beautiful Hotel

This was our first trip to Cuba. We initially had a few things that we were unhappy with however after speaking to other people about their resorts on our excursions we instantly grew to love this resort more each day. The rooms and grounds were beautiful. The food was very good (I have heard food is an issue in Cuba). Well we did find a handful but the vast majority of employees at this resort we found to be rude. I heard this complaint made by several other people as well. The nighty entertainment each day was a different form of a dance routine and there was nothing else to do in the evenings besides sit in a bar and drink. There was no dance club or any other form of entertainment besides the dance show in the theatre. Lastly their 24 hr snack bar (also the only bar open after 11pm) was not 24 hr. it was closed more than open and if there was a wedding this is the building they used for the reception (there was a wedding 4 out of our 7 nights there). The Beach was awesome and the pool was nice to, after all this is what the vacation is all about :-) All in all we loved our vacation and yes I would definitely stay there again no questions asked. Like I said it is new and they just have a few kinks to work out.

Clean, Friendly, Wonderful Beach

The staff were amazing - so accommodating, helpful and fun. The grounds were well-maintained, the beach was absolutely beautiful. Rooms were clean, fridges stocked - never ran out of hot water. Food was typical for Cuba - we ate a lot of pizza, bread and fries.

Amazing resort

This hotel was everything that we expected plus more ! It's small ( just what we like) the rooms are exceptionally clean and spacious ! Most of the rooms are all around the pool , therefore if your facing that side, a ground room is very nice ! The food was good ( no surprises) there is something for everyone for sure ! A good experience for first time to Cuba

Rooms were new and very clean. My room faced a new hotel that was being built so heard construction very early in the am but not hotels fault. Lobby and infinity pool were beautiful! Only 1 buffet so it was at times crowded. Food was better than I was lead to believe for Cuba. It would have been nice if the a la cartes had taken reservations. Great new hotel with typical Cuban problems

Pros: Lovely big rooms. We were in building two. Beaches were incredible. Most staff super friendly. Food the best we have had in Cuba, especially freshly cooked fish. Room staff were kind and kept our rooms super clean. Hop on bus made it easy to explore area. Rent a scooter right at the hotel. Cons Pools cold (not heated) Showers hot or cold, not much in between. Hard to remember what bars/restaurants were open when. Wished there was one 24 hours. Cuba isn't cheap anymore. Insulated mug for beach and pool area to keep drinks cold Would we come back to Ocean Vista Azul: YES! If the price is right may upgrade to Privilege room. At our departure it was $500 more per person so not worth it for us.

Week of relaxation at Ocean Vista Azul ((March 20-27)

We had a beautiful week of sunshine and relaxation. Check in was smooth and quick. We were surprised during check in with an upgrade to one of the bungalows with ocean view. The lobby was very nice with modern furniture. The infinity pool is beautiful and provides an awesome view of the ocean. Our room was very nice with similar modern decor and bright colours. Unfortunately we did not have the name of the maid but she kept our room clean and surprised us with very creative designs on our  [... read more]bed. Our maid was very honest as we left the safe open not once but twice, she left us a note on our door informing us why she could not clean our room but made sure to leave us clean towels in a bag outside our door. We seemed to be too late to be able to enjoy the small beach during the day as there were no lounge chairs available but we did enjoy the sunset at this beach. The larger beach is not as far as some reviews had indicated, less than a 5 minute walk. Your on holidays enjoy the walk and view. There were always huts with shade available, and the staff were quick to make sure lounges were available. Pool was nice, with a choice of being on a the quieter side or be were the activities were. Pool staff were always willing to move lounges and set up umbrellas if needed. Bar staff at both beaches, pool and by the theatre were always friendly and provided great service. Unfortunately we did not have the same experience with the lobby bar. We did not go with high expectations about the food after reading the reviews prior our trip as we knew we always find something to eat that we would like. Our biggest disappointment was difficulty finding a clean table especially at night in the buffet, it seemed that the staff was stretched very thin. The Italian a la cart needs some work on efficiency as we observed that there was people being informed that there was an hour wait yet there was 6 empty tables. It could possibly be that more staff are required. Excursions: Private guided tour of Havana, fantastic trip and would highly recommend if you truly want to know the people and culture of Cuba. Catamaran to Cayo Blanco, very professional and well done, much nicer than the catamaran trips in Punta Cana. Beach at Cayo Blanco is breath taking. One morning we jumped on the double decker bus into Varadero, we experienced the true meaning of "the bus is full." Nice morning strolling the streets of Varadero. Overall we enjoyed our vacation to Cuba and Ocean Vista Azul. We will be back one day but have other destinations to visit before returning.

It's ok.

We flew Cubana air which was really cool on the way there. It is just like flying 20years ago. $3CAD a beer. And service was decent. Way home not so great 5 hour delay stuck in the airport with no apologies or reason why! Hotel is OK sixth trip to Cuba and it will probably be my last. Beach is not the best when the new hotel opens next door the beachs will be very crowded. Way too many people for the buffet and restaurants line ups were crazy. All the A La Cartes served the exact same food [... read more] as the buffet but on a plate. Of course not enough beach and pool chairs. Food was not good as per usual in Cuba. I did get sick for a few days and couldn't eat anything. Horrible stomach cramps. Beds really hard pillow just strange. All and all they do there best with what they have but the tourism has definitely went to their heads over the last 10 years. Cuba is for sure loosing its charm it used to have. They have become your typical pety scammers you get in every carribean country. He tips are never enough always wanting more. Then we have this CUC. That is the biggest scam they have. The exchange rate is more than the American dollar (around $1.47 for 1 CUC) when it is over 2 million Canadians that travel to Cuba per year. If you want to leave the resort for local things it is expensive. We didn't pay a lot for the trip so I guess you get what you pay for. I used to love Cuba. So I feel very sad that this has happened to the island.

Greatplace

It was a very nice and clean resort. The people were nice and friendly. I really enjoyed my stay and would go back.the rooms and the grounds were kept very clean, and the staff was very friendly and happy to help you.

Lovely resort

This is a lovely resort with a beautiful layout, clean and modern rooms, and friendly staff. The bigger beach is a bit of a walk and it would have been nice to have a snack bar there. There are a few small issues that need taking care of and this would make it much better. For example the coffee at the buffet in the morning was terrible, cold and undrinkable. Some more entertainment in the lobby area would have been nice as it was quite quiet. The food was alright but I have eaten much better recently at the Pullman in Cayo Coco. This property is located on a cliff so the scenery is beautiful.

Beautiful, clean and exeletnt

Hotel looks exactly as it is on the pictures. Beautiful and big rooms, excellent pools, beautiful beach and very friendly staff. What else do you need on vacations? Food is ok, no bad for Cuba. I believe that everyone can find something to eat. We do not have such choices of different meal at home and we survive so if we go for vacation I do not care too much about it. Lots of guests but there is not enough stuff to clean and make everything fast. The best shows I have ever seen in the Caribbean country. The hotel is very close to Varadero, so you can spend evenings walking on the streets in real Cuba. Taxi costs 15 CUC, but bargain. We were going there as a group of 6(two 3-person families) and they once charged us 20. But there we bargain and had prices 10-13 CUC. Lots of small restaurants are open right now so you can try something outside the hotel. We took Havana tour but not from hotel. We rented Taxi Nacho Cuba and it was cheaper for our group. He was not from the hotel but I know you can find him on the TripAdvisor. He suggested what we should see and include our wishes as well. They took us to buy coffee and rum and the first time I bought something cheaper than it was in the store. I took some stuff to leave for the staff in the hotel and I am really glad I did. Lots of happened since I was in Varadero 10 years ago. You can see lots of new stores and so on but the prices there were not even for me. I will definitely come back there.

Beautiful Resort

We loved the beauty and cleanliness of the sprawling grounds, the majestic views, the pools, beaches, the friendly staff, the buffet dining room's food and the outstanding shows--the best we've ever seen! The à la carte restaurants, however, were disappointing (we didn't always get what was described on the menu i.e.: lettuce instead of spinach in the "canelloni", breaded chicken instead of roasted with garlic, mushrooms and olive oil, as was the morning coffee in the dining room...lukewarm, wa [... read more]tered-down and undrinkable. Thank goodness for Mike's coffee shop and the coffees served at the bar which were very good. Our room was fine but had a bad odor, at times, when the air conditionner was off. The pillows were not very comfortable and the shower either froze or scalded us. When calling the front desk for noise coming from the fan and to help with the shower, we got service immediately. Disappointedly we were not permitted to dine at restaurant Neptuno as we were not of the "privileged" group, and we had to pay for Wifi which didn't function or was down. All in all, a very trendy and enjoyable resort.

Amazing resort

Very nice hotel. Amazing service. Pleasant to stay at. Very beautiful, perfect for families.very good shows every nights . Loads of activities. All in all the hotel is amazing Definitely recommended

Fantastic stay

This is a new resort with clean rooms and a great staff. The food is mediocre but the beaches and amenities make up for it. The entertainment was also great. A very family friendly resort. Would definitely go again.
