We just returned from a glorious week. We would definitely go back to this resort. Our room was spotless. The amenities were replenished frequently and the fridge was cold and filled everyday. The decor was lovely and inviting. Not one complaint there.
The buffet and restaurants were clean and the food very tasty. It was not overly busy and the staff very friendly and brought our beverages promptly.
We were in the adult section and enjoyed the entertainment very much.
The pool was very clean [... read more]and inviting.
The front desk staff was very courteous and accommodating. Will definitely go back.

Amazing resort
We just came back on Monday after spending a week family vacation at this resort. This place is lovely for a family with kids, we stayed at Daisy. The rooms were so clean and neat. The public areas so well maintained, the food was amazing the hosts were so nice and friendly. Smantha our host always would welcome us to the restaurant with a warm smile. The only problem is the service, I believe they need to train their waitresses. You would seat and ask for a high chair a few people until someon[... read more]e would have bring it to you. At the breakfast your coffee would will be delivered on the table at almost the end of the meal.
My son 17 months old broke the reading lamp that was at the night table, i did report it to the housekeeping immediately and they did send a security to take a look at it, when the guy came he said that everything is ok, not to worry and would not be extra charges in our account, but unfortunately at the check pout they have to charge us $75USD I know that yes he did break it, but trust me it was placed at the edge of the table and it was such a cheap ceramic.
The beach was so rocky very hard to swim.
The evening shows were good, especially we enjoyed the circus, the players were amazing.
I will definitely will recommend this place to families.

Great Resort!
We enjoyed this resort very much. The variety of A la Carte restaurants was very good, the food selection was fantastic. We enjoyed almost all the restaurants. The Buffet again had a lot of variety and very tasty food, wait time for drinks (pop/water/beer) took way too long. There were times that we waited 20 minutes for a drink and rarely got a refill. The room itself was perfect, clean and tidy, cleaning staff did a great job. There were not enough face towels. We had to ask everyday for[... read more] a face towel and did not always get one because we were told there is not enough. Loved that the balcony had a hanging swing, enjoyed that with a book for some quiet time. The grounds cleaning staff were always about cleaning and were always smiling. Actually we found the a lot of the staff smiling and helpful, their English was excellent. When you said Thank you to staff they always replied "it is my pleasure" and they actually meant it.
The variety of pools was great, you could decide on which day where you wanted to be. The daytime activities around the pool and beach were so much fun and fun to watch. Nighttime activities were great and good to see staff and guest interaction.
My sister and her family stayed next door at the Princess and they came for a visit with their kids to the Ocean, the day passes were affordable and the staff made her and her family feel very welcome. They enjoyed their time and loved the resort as well.

We had the best time!
This resort was simply lovely.
We stayed for two weeks from Oct 19-November 2’17.
We stayed in the Beso Adult only section. They have the Daisy Family section with an amazing water park for the kids!!
Pros-
Extremely clean!
Wonderful staff, very friendly and hard working, eager to please.
Activity staff were very enthusiastic and fun.
Food was delicious! Lots to choose from and loads of healthy options, as well as tons of desserts. There’s an ice cream shop and coffee shop on t[... read more]he resort, also included. We visited the coffee shop twice a day!!
The a la cartel restaurants were very nice too! The Japanese Teppanaki Restaurant was a fun experience.
Rooms are gorgeous and clean with a large balcony with comfortable furniture.
Cleaning staff did a great job everyday and the room looked and smelled clean !!
Nature is honoured and protected here. From the little Coaties, to the iguanas to the monkeys! We loved catching glimpses of them and even saw a mama monkey with her baby up in the trees!!
Cons-
Honestly, the one negative comment is that the beach, while very lovely, was too rocky for swimming. There are plenty of loungers for relaxing though!
The only other issue was the H10 sales staff trying to get us to come to their sales presentation. We declined and they weren’t too pushy, but we were asked three times in two weeks.
All in all, we loved our vacation at the Oceans Riviera Paradise.

Great resort!
This was our second time at the resort. The first time they had a welcome wine bottle in the room and this time not, but that's nothing major. The resort has great pools, clean grounds and clean rooms. Our shower drain wasn't drai ing properly and our bathroom floor flooded couple of times. We reported it twice. The beach is ice but the water has rocks. Very hard to get in the water without water shoes or while holding two small kids. There's lots of animals on the grounds; Coti, monkeys and ig[... read more]uanas. The kids loved it. Unfortunately the seafood restaurant was closed the whole week we were there. The kids water park is great but what I didn't like is the life guards didn't let us go down with our daughter but when locals come.in on the weekend it was allowed for them.

Keep Looking – better resorts out there
My husband and I just returned from the Ocean Riviera Paradise. We stayed there June 24–July 1, 2017. It was his first time in Mexico, and what a disappointment.
Ocean RP is a new resort that just opened in December 2016, and it is obvious that they don't have all of the "kinks" worked out yet.
I don't even know where to begin with my frustrations...from being left behind on day excursions (twice!!! – and the guy lied, leaving a "no show" slip with a time into the future! We're still await[... read more]ing our $263 CDN refund from Cancun Adventures) booked through the hotel lobby; to the 1300 people that checked in (making getting a drink or any personalized attention whatsoever impossible) two days before we left (part of the Dream Vacations pyramid marketing group); to opening the adult pool to local teens aged 13-20 (bunches of them, to the point that the pool was floating with balloon bits, straws, empty cups, and a slick of tanning solution). We couldn't get a pool chair (had to share one) and the swim-up bartenders were squeegeeing the same filthy water from the bar surface (yes, girls gone wild was taking place) down onto their working surface, into the ice and the limes used in our drinks. Forget about top shelf liquor – unless you're "Privileged", which, by the way, they assign you a "concierge" when you check in who tries to get you to attend a breakfast meeting with her in exchange for a $100 voucher to be used in the hotel amenities (like the spa). Ours even took it upon herself to send a wake-up call to our room at 8 a.m. our first full day of vacation. Can you believe that? Constant pestering led us to have to duck behind trees and into buildings to avoid her throughout the remainder of our vacation. The day trip excursion people are everywhere too. They are all doing battle with each other for your business and some are with the hotel, others are not. Very confusing. Oh, and the prices at the gif shop are outrageous. $12 US for a medium sized bag of cheezies. Their glassware and other souvenirs are 3x what you can find them in town (Playa) for. And the prices magically change when more people arrive. The hotel is also open to local merchants who walk the beach constantly, peddling their wares. My husband and I both got sick at Ocean RP – likely from the pool water in our drinks, although I was happy to lay in my room and wish the days away at that point, at least they get HBO. I literally cried with relief as I boarded the plane to come home to Toronto.
This vacation was my twenty-seventh all-inclusive trip (with the majority of those trips having been purchased through TripCentral) and my tenth time to Mexico. I will NEVER return to this resort, or recommend this resort to my friends. I will however continue to book with TripCentral.
Although this resort is listed as a 5 Star, I would say it is more like a 3. The property is nice, but you can't get into the ocean (filled with seaweed and you have to cross over sharp rocks), and the pools are very busy. A lot of children at this resort too. We were also only given one room key which is inconvenient, (note: we also got locked out of our room once too, as they had set our check-out day a day too early) and they had run out of towel cards too (but they gave us some towels anyway). The room was nicely decorated but very musty and because the air conditioning didn't vent to the outside, the sheets were wet. Wet! Our luggage weighed 5 lbs. more on the way back because nothing would dry.
The resort is also 2 miles from the lobby to the beach. So get ready to walk, and walk a lot! Because the hotel is so new, there are no mature trees along this path, and by the time you got where you were going you were already burned (mind you we did decide to go to Mexico in June, where the average daily temperature is 42 degrees celsius).
Two last things – the resort must have some sort of deal going with Coco Bongo, as their reps. are everywhere, and run the entertainment – all propaganda to get you to go to their nightclub. And finally, there is bizarre music piped throughout the resort which you can hear at all times, unless the Coco Bongo people are drowning it out. Very spacey. I think the intention was elegance, but they missed the mark with that one too.
To summarize, I'm really sad that our vacation was a bust. We work really hard every year to go away, and I hated this trip. On a brighter side, the grass isn't always greener, and sometimes staying home – controlling what you are fed and get to drink – is a better time.

Great Resort
Great Resort, clean grounds, clean rooms, great food. Beach could use a makeover but overall great experience. The walkways were rough, moisture from all the previous week's rain had raised the stones which was a hazard for everyone walking but they were always working on fixing them. Resteraunts were good not great but buffet was always good and consistent.

Great Family Getaway
I just got back from Ocean Riviera yesterday and I can honestly say I really enjoyed myself and don't really know where these horrible reviews are coming from. People are extremely over exaggerating and its unfortunate because it therefore scares future guests. I was very nervous to come here after reading the reviews but I was more than pleasantly surprised.
First off, I traveled with my husband and my 5 month old baby and we previously lived in Playa del Carmen so we are very familiar with [... read more]the area/people, etc.
Check-in upon arrival was quick and easy, we were given one key but that didn't bother us, everyone was very friendly. There are lots of timeshare people in the lobby and to be honest I assumed we would be left alone because we had a small baby but they continually kept coming after us. We did although just say no thank you and that was that.
We stayed in room 2420 in the Daisy Family section, facing the trees on the back side which we actually preferred because it was very quiet and peaceful. The room is VERY spacious, clean, modern and probably the nicest hotel room I've ever stayed in. We called for a playpen once we arrived and it was brought up with extra blankets/padding within 5 minutes. We also had a problem with the safe twice and both times someone came up within 10 minutes. Absolutely NO ISSUES with air-conditioning. We kept it set at 22C the whole time and a few times I bumped it up to 23 because we felt cold and too cool with ceiling fan! No idea where these crazy air conditioning reviews are coming from. Bathroom is very nice and spacious although not much privacy for going to the bathroom due to slotted doors, not an issue for my little family but if you are traveling with friends just be aware of this. No issues with water, we had lovely hot water all day.
Because we had a small baby we actually didn't attempt any ala cartes. So we ate buffet 3 meals a day. No complaints, staff was so incredibly nice, great service, always had drinks within 5 minutes of arriving. So much variety and everything was hot and fresh, I LOVED the pasta bar and my husband really enjoyed all the different mexican and seafood variety. Once again with the air-conditioning. We never ONCE felt hot or warm inside the buffet. It was always fresh and cool and very comfortable.
Kids/Family Pool area was awesome, not too busy and we were always able to find chairs with shade. Great bartenders and great service! I did notice once a few kids dropped their drinks (mudslide type) inside the pool and therefore it got dirty but that isn't the hotels fault. If you want swim up bars then you have to know a few kids/adults might spill something in the pool and it clearly stated "Please do not move around the pool with drinks" so for those that complained about a dirty pool, well....that's just was happens when you have a few hundred people drinking and swimming around in a pool. We always found it refreshing and enjoyed our pool time. Walk to beach from kids pool area is maybe 5 minutes MAX, and that is with a small baby. People like to really over-exaggerate this point.
Cleaning staff was great, everyday we had a nice clean room, mini bar was stocked daily (although the fridge wasn't ice cold).
Overall this is all I can really comment on because with a baby we weren't really able to enjoy the night shows, bowling, casino, etc, but I think I wanted to share my opinion on some of the sore spots it seems other travellers complain about. I would definitely recommend this hotel and return, we spent a very nice week together and I think if we had been able to enjoy all the other aspects of the resort we would have even loved it MORE! Don't be scared to go, it is a wonderful place and just go to enjoy yourself. :)
P.s - One night the local artisans come to the hotel and set up shop in the square. Take advantage of this people I can say as a previous local of Playa del Carmen they have good prices and are cheaper than 5th Avenue. This is a GREAT opportunity to get some awesome gifts to take home without having to leave the resort if you aren't interested in that.

Great facilities and entertainment
The resort was overall great. The food was plenty with a good selection. The restaurants were very tasty. No reservation required. The kids enjoyed the mini and teen clubs. The bowling alley was lots of fun. The nightly entertainment was spectacular. The only down side was the beach. It was dirty and small. Not great to swim in. There were lots of rocks and seaweed.

Never again...worst hotel management staff!!!!
Here's an overview of our experience at the Ocean Riviera Paradise:
DAY 1 - Our arrival, Sunday May 7th:
When we arrived at the resort we proceeded to check into the hotel. The hotels check-in representative, Uriel told us that he could only find 2 out of the 5 reservations. Uriel told us that the 3 families did not have a reservation in there system. Uriel told the 3 families that in order to receive a room they would have to stay in the Daisy suites. The 3 families had to sign a document [... read more]for Daisy Suite. For 2 of the families they gave them both document to sign for "what we were told" was for the Eden Suite. All of this process took 2 hours at check in. Everyone went to there assigned rooms, however when I and the one of the families went to our section of the resort, we realized that our key card was not for the Eden section it was for the Daisy section. We immediately contacted our sunquset rep here in Mexico, Antonio and Paul. Much couldn't be done until the next day.
Day 2, Monday May 8th:
All 5 families met with Antonio from Sunquest at 9am. We explained to him our check in experience and our missing reservations and the room category booking. Antonio spoke with manager prior to our arrival that morning to find out that the hotel over booked the Eden section of the resort. Which wasn't our problem. Antonio did the best he could with resorts management staff and told us that they would move all 5 families to the Eden suites as originally booked, however we would all need to wait until the following day Tuesday May 9th or receive a credit for the downgrade between both room categories. We all decided to make the change. Later that day at around 3 pm we spoke to Wendy our travel agent representative from Trip Central and she reassured us everything would be adjusted (Wendy is amazing!) The Sunquest representative, Antonio followed up with us every moment and did the best he could do to communicate and liaise between us and the hotel.
Day 3, Tuesday May 9th:
All 5 families packed their suitcases and prepared for the room change. At 9 am we met with Antonio and a hotel representative, Regoberto who explained the process of the room change. We were told to place our luggage at the door in our room and keep our room keys and to check back with front desk at 3pm for our new Eden Suite keys. All rooms were ready and we received our new room keys. Laura Iafrate went to the new room to find that there was only one bed for their family if 3. They had to walk back from the Eden section to the lobby with all their luggages. Laura and her husband were extremely upset with the front desk staff. The front desk staff said that they made the changes to accommodate the original reservations but could not guarantee a room with 2 beds. If they had explain this before wasting time with move, Laura would not if made the move. Laura and her husband demanded to be moved back to the Daisy suite because the suite had 2 beds. When Tony and I arrived to our new Eden room we found small black bugs all over the bed. We immediately called down to the front desk and they asked us to go back to the main lobby to explain the problem with the new room that we were assigned. So we walked all the way back to the lobby. By this time is was nearly 6:30pm. We were so fed up with the chaos we had to endure the first 2 days, we asked to be moved back to our old room in the Daisy section. They agreed to move us, but we had to sign a waiver. The document was written in Spanish and we couldn't understand it. The front desk representative Carmina explained to us that we would not receive a credit for moving rooms as it's a downgrade. By the time Carmina received approval from the resort management staff the time was about 8:00 pm and we hadn't had dinner, seen our family and we were exhausted. We signed the document. I took a photo of it for our records. Carmina called for a personal cart ride by Giovanni at the concierge desk. Giovanni took us to pick up our luggage from Eden to old room at the Daisy section. We showed him the bugs and he said that the resort had a tendency to over book the Eden section of the resort. Giovanni was very nice and gave us a bottle of wine.
Day 5, Thursday May 11th:
We returned to our room at 10pm from a full day of being at the pool, beach and going into town 5th Avenue. There was NO water for taking a shower, NO water to flush the toilet, NO water came out of the bathroom faucet. Completely, ridiculous, right ?!?!? I called the front desk and the told me that there is construction taking place and that water would be restored in 30 minutes.
Day 10 - Departure day!
Checked out of the hotel at 11:30 am. Process took 5 minutes. We handed back our room key and towel cards.
Sunquest shuttle bus was scheduled to depart the hotel at 12:50 pm. Our flight was scheduled for 4:30pm.
We asked the front desk representative what time the buffet opened for lunch to grab a bite to eat before leaving on the shuttle, they said it opened at 12 noon. We all headed over to the buffet to find out that the buffet was closed until 12:30 pm. We asked if we could get in a little early 5-10minutes before opening so that we can have some time to eat, they said NO. We were so upset and annoyed. We literally had 15 minutes after they opened to eat quick and get to the lobby to catch the shuttle bus.
A few things about the resort:
Trolly service
The trolly service between lobby, resort sections and A la Cart restaurants is extremely slow. They only had one trolly running. We spoke to the concierge desk about this and they said that they have 2 trolleys and they run during peak times, but this was not true. This was difficult especially for people that are older and can't walk for a long time.
Pools
Pools were very nice, But were very dirty and not cleaned often. The concrete around the pools were not cleaned often either. Waiter staff poured drinks that were not consumed into the plants near the pool which brought bugs. None of the shower stations near the central pool areas worked. There was only one bartender at the pool bars and had to wait awhile for drinks. There was not enough staff to attend to guests.
Beach
Although from a distance the beach and beach pool looked beautiful, when we spent time we noticed the sand was not raked like at most resorts and garbage was left around by people probably because there were not enough garage containers. There were shower stations on the beach to rinse of the sand before going in the pool, but several of the stations were in the middle of the sand so you had to walk through the sand to get to the pool. The other shower stations were in locations close to the pool on the beach, but you had to walk through the sand to get to catch the trolley. The waiter staff poured all the liquid from drinks into the sand causing allot bugs to gather at the beach chairs.
A la Cart Restaurants: let's just say the buffet was better! The a la Cart restaurants had a ridiculous wait time after being seated. Waits 1 hour at the Steakhouse and 2 hours at the Mexican this was extremely frustrating. We stuck to the buffet for the entire trip.

Very clean resort.
Good food choices, including the buffets and restaurants.
Service was hit and miss at buffet, restaurants and bars; sometimes fast and some times very slow.

Kids pool was good, but I didn't like how you were not allowed to go down the slides with your kids.

Beautiful resort
The Ocean Riviera Paradise is definitely a beautiful resort. We chose to stay in the Eden Swim Up Suites because the building was closest to the beach. However, the beach is the biggest turn off of this resort. The beach itself is nice, it is when you go to get in the water. The rocks are huge, sharp and chances are you will come out either with cuts, bruises or both. The food and drinks are great as are the majority of the staff. Great Resort
Overall the resort was great! The one big disappointment for us was the ocean water: with rocks, seaweed and the water not being clear, we were unable to swim in the ocean. Even with water shoes there are large rocks that you're unable to see. The beach sand itself, is nice and it's wide. Normally our time at any resort is spent at the beach, this time we had to do pool side. Great selection of a la carte restaurants to choose from, no reservations required except for the the Japanese one. The entertainment staff did a great job, always lots of activities to do, if you wanted to participate. The Casino opened while we were there, it's very nice and the the Ice Cream bar was a great spot, always busy! We really enjoyed the Circus show, and another evening they had a live band playing some great older rock and roll tunes. I would only recommend this resort to people that do not enjoy the ocean.

Good for families, not good for an adult couple wishing for a quiet, relaxing vacation
The resort is very pretty, well decorated, and clean. Staff were mostly very friendly, and the food was pretty good! This resort would be great for families as there is a lot for kids to do.
However, traveling as a couple that prefers a quiet, relaxing vacation, this resort is not the right one. There is no "quiet" space in the entire resort. All pools have loud music, and are quite crowded. There is an adults only building/pool, however it is also really quite loud and rowdy. We would not r[... read more]eturn to this resort due to this as we prefer a quiet, relaxing vacation. We even asked to be transferred to another resort, however, the Sunquest rep would not return our calls.
One thing that was a bit odd compared to other resorts is that they make you line up to be seated at the buffet. This was generally quite annoying as it took a long time to be seated, and is not done at other resorts that we have been to.
