Iberostar Waves Rose Hall Beach: I would go back in a heart beat!
I have traveled to Caribbean resorts for 31 years now, at least annually if not twice a year. The irberostar rose hall beaches was one of my favorites. Food was excellent. Grounds clean and well oriented. But what made it stellar for me was the amazing staff. Every single one was accommodating , friendly and professional. Especially the entertainment staff. Shout out to Angel, Sparkle, Cupcake and Teddy Bear! Shout out to the amazing waitress Venessa and bartender Six Pack! We had rain every sin[... read more]gle day ( freaky and unusual rainy weather) but despite that, the most awesome trip ever! Hope to see you again next year!

Riu Reggae: Nice resort
Most rooms are nice but there are some located right above the kitchen exhaust fan. It is all that you can see and smell. It is also noisy if the balcony door is open.
The food is not the greatest at the buffet but it is quite good at the a la carte restaurants.
There is almost all the time a line-up for the a la cartes so, some benches/sitting in front of the restaurants would be nice.
The drinks are ok but not top shelf as described on the resort's web site.
The staff is very frien[... read more]dly and hard working. They would do everything to keep you happy.
Nadine at the lobby bar makes the absolute best cappuccino I ever had.
The entertainment crew is quite good and they put up pretty good shows.

Riu Negril: Another fabulous vacation
I really enjoy this resort. It has all of the amenities. The beach is not the greatest to swim in due to the seaweed but there is always the pool. It would also be nice to have coffee machines in the rooms as it is a long walk in the morning to get one. (Who am I kidding, I need the exercise!)

Iberostar Waves Rose Hall Beach: Awesome!
Excellent food, service, staff, activities, entertainment, comfort. We enjoyed our stay very much, only wish the rain had stayed away. The resort was easily accessible so that we did not have to walk too far to get anywhere on the resort. The fitness centre was top notch! Only problem was mouse droppings on the balcony in the morning, but the staff cleaned it and accepted my request to move to another room. Rooms were spacious and clean. There were comfy areas to just sit and relax through[... read more]out the resort. Staff called to make sure everything was good and took care of any requests we had.

Well, what can I say after spending Christmas and New Year at this Resort other than amazing!! Staff is what makes this Resort so incredible!! This Resort is the "cleanest" place I have seen so far after traveling for over 15 years! Iberostar Waves Rose Hall Beach: Great Basic resort.
Resort has everything needed for a great vacation. Rooms are basic - not luxurious - but adequate. Nice to have a balcony and our garden view room actually had a nice view of the ocean. Food is quite good at buffets. Japanese restauarany is fun and food is good. Steakhouse is good but partially buffet. System for booking restaurant reservations is better than other resorts I’ve been to. Staff are friendly and very attentive. Booze flows freely and drinks are strong with lots of name brands. Sh[... read more]ows are pretty good. Beach area is lovely with shade from trees. On windy days seaweed washes up but they work hard to keep it clean. Pool area is also nice. Resort is on the smaller side so walking distances are reasonable. Some problems with elevators so helpful to use stairs. Shuttle to rose hall shopping village is a nice plus.

Grand Palladium Lady Hamilton: Fair Resort
Where do we begin as there were many things that we did not expect! We will list our not so good experiences in point form below:
· Cleanliness of our honey moon villa lagged…. The debris that was under our bed when we arrived was still there when we left. The cleaning of our sinks was often overlooked and we are not sure if the outdoor shower was actually cleaned during our stay.
· International restaurants did not serve authentic international food. Restaurants are run[... read more] by local people who try to cook international cuisines – the outcome is far from what we know and expected.
· Water bottles were only available in our villa or at the front desk. We were able to get water bottles at the front desk the first week but during our second week of our stay we were told by the desk staff that they did not have any water……. we were stunt to receive such replies, simply unbelievable!!!!!
· Red wine options was a real let-down – the red wine offered was made in Spain and only Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon were available. The Merlot tasted like vinegar and quite often restaurants ran out of the Cabernet Sauvignon. We feel that this is just not acceptable as this is an all-inclusive vacation and we paid plenty of dollars to enjoy our vacation.
· The buffet food offered at the main restaurant lagged creativity – it appeared they took the approach of ‘feeding the herd’. Chickens and meat with bones were hacked with a cleaver and hidden in all kinds of sauces, mainly dark sauces – not very appealing to the eye. We ordered a shrimp wonton soup at the Asian restaurant and the shrimps were not covered in dough. When we were finished with our meal, we were told that they had run out of flower to make a shrimp wonton soup…
· Fresh fruit selection was limited, water melon, pineapple, papaya were the main fruits and when bananas were available most of the time they were soft and mushy. Sad, considering we were in a tropical island……
Furthermore, the upkeep of the resort lagged attention to detail. The fountain and water bed at the main entrance at Lady Hamilton was not working and debris and diapers were floating in the water bed. The walls surrounding the water fountains and water bed were gray and tiles/stucco were damaged. The large outdoor roll-down drapes were either ripped or hung crooked and were also very dirty. The overall upkeep of the grounds in the resort lagged was not very good.
We hope that our review will be put forward to the Spanish and Italian owners of this resort and hope that more attention to detail will be exercised as well as an improvement to offering international cuisine that actually tastes and looks like international cuisine.
Best regards,
Josefine and Les Balogh

Bahia Principe Escape Runaway Bay: Here's what you need to know about this resort - the good and not-so-good
We have been to over 20 all inclusive resorts so it's safe to assume we have a well rounded scope of what to expect. Although there were good points to this resort, I will start by saying it's definitely not a 5 star. It more accurately reflects a 4. It's not entirely clear when you book that there are two sides to this hotel. The Luxury Adult side and the Grand Family side. Here are the pros and cons for you to consider:
Adult Luxury side:
PROS
1. It's quiet, and doesn't have a busy feel [... read more]which we appreciated
2. You won't see line ups at the main buffet & the food selection/variety and taste is good
3. The bed was very comfortable -- our room was in the new building, and it was spacious and very nice
4. The pools are big and beautifully lit at night
5. Raymond at the main bar is AWESOME - his happy energy makes everyone smile
CONS
1. The Family Side (Grand) appeared to have better features than the adult side. Their lobby is a big open space where you can see the pool and ocean. Even their main buffet had outdoor seating - the luxury side did not which for me personally was a huge disappointment. We travelled south to enjoy the warm temps and outdoors, so having the option to dine outside would have been nice.
2. The lobby on the luxury adult side has a "closed in" feel and your only view is the road. We had 2 full days of rain so our only "hangout" was the lobby. I'm guessing the designer of this hotel isn't an ocean person because even the path that takes you to the ocean resembles a maze - we are intelligent people and it took us 3 days to finally figure out the best way to get us there because it involves walking down dark narrow hallways etc.
3. If you're a beach person, the adult side is not for you - there's a small contained space that is surrounded by rocks which obstructs your view of the ocean. Again strange.
4. The check in was long and a little painful. We had been up since 3 am and had a flight delay -- air transat doesn't supply a meal so we were hungry and tired when we arrived at 4pm. A few other couples sitting with us expressed the same. Yet we had to sit through a group orientation? Tough. Wasn't the right time.
5. The gym is on the family side and it's a smaller room without windows. Felt cramped and boxed in. We always work out on vacations but no inspiration to do so at this resort.
6. **Do not let the women sitting at the desk in the lobby convince you to sit with them for the "scheduled meeting". They warned us on the bus to the resort to ignore their attempts at putting another resort bracelet on you (selling you something). It's a waste of your precious vacation time.
7. I sat down with the concierge the first day to book al la carte (restaurants) and the only availability they had was 9 or 9:30pm for our entire stay. Some restaurants were closed throughout the weekend? So my advice is to book your dinners in advance before you arrive. We went to Picasso at 9pm one evening and it wasn't full but the food was delicious.
8. The spa. One of our rainy days we booked the sauna room. You need to book it and they charge you to enjoy this space. They can't guarantee you will be the only couple occupying, and we weren't. Their steam shower is part of this "package" that you pay for but it wasn't working the day we went. We enjoyed the quiet relaxing spa music, and ambiance but paying money to use a resort sauna felt odd to us. Other locations we've stayed at offer this feature is part of the resort experience and it's always complimentary.
9. It's 1hour 15 minute drive from the airport. Our flight landed at 2pm and we arrived at the resort at 4:15pm. Departure day our bus left at 9:15am and our flight was 1:30pm. Just something to keep in mind if like us (we booked 4 days) you're booking a shorter stay here.
To sum it up, if you book this resort with a 4 star expectation, and you're a pool person vs beach, I believe you'll be satisfied.

Sandals Dunn's River: Service was the best
The staff at this resort were the best they delivered top notch service with a smile . The rooms offered a decent ocean view which was a surprise since we hadn’t purchased an upgrade and just had the basic room. The food was limited in selection but what was available was excellent with a good variety of well prepared local dishes also. The Pizza Hut with the stone oven that seriously made the best jerk chicken pizza I’ve ever had. The bar tenders were also very good and prepared drinks qui[... read more]ckly. The beach was just ok. Not the nicest but better than Runway bay because it wasn’t rocky. Short beach perhaps 1500 ft with a fence at one end that locals hang of and constantly whistle and yell in an attempt to get your attention. Why they don’t make a solid wall I don’t know but they will get on your nerves if you get within hearing distance. So that cuts down on a lot of usable beach. The resort was kept in great shape with constant minor maintenance being done. However the only working outdoor jacuzzi was left in a complete disaster when we went to go use it almost every evening. Food all around the jacuzzi, empty plates, food(fries)and cups everywhere and I mean everywhere all over the deck. Straws floating in the water. All of this within clear view. This was a disappointment because this was one of the reasons we picked this resort. The biggest draw back was the long ride back to the airport 2 hours combined with being dropped of at the airport by the tour company 4 and half hours early and flight home it made for an very long day. I recommend a private taxi. Set your own schedule.
