Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Nice place to go

Everything seems be normal as Cuban. Nice beach, room is ok, AC working well. Food is pretty eatable. Price is good. So nothing to complain. People need to enjoy! Hhhllll Jjnn Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmgffdddfffnnmjkjyrrdvbmk M

Playa Pesquero: What happened to this resort?

Please find below a copy of the review I wrote on Tripcentral. I have been going to Cuba for several years now and my last visit was about 5 years ago. I use to go to an adjacent resort and had toured Playa Pesquero on my last visit. At the time I was blown away. It was amazing. From the moment I entered the then spectacular lobby and was graciously escorted by a staff member by golf cart to an extensive tour of the resort. They were incredible, including the then air conditioning that worked. I promised myself on my next visit to Cuba this is where I was going to stay. Well, BIG MISTAKE!!!! Upon arriving at the airport no one from the resort met us until I made my way to the parking lot and had to ask where to go and what bus to take. Upon arriving to the resort only 2 staff were on duty to check in a bus load of people. We were given a welcome cocktail which was appreciated. I had requested at the time of booking either a beach or pool view on the second floor. I also booked a superior room. I asked at the front desk and was told very close to the pool and yes, my room was on the second floor. SURPRISE, room was on the ground floor and no view at all! Two rooms later I finally did get a second floor room. This room looked NOTHING like what I remembered! It was poorly maintained. Although you could tell it had been painted it was not done well. Any child could have done a better job. It also had a musty smell. The room was also unbearably hot. I checked the A/C and it was set at 16 Celsius, but felt closer to 25 Celsius. Room was also suppose to have a coffee maker, which it did not, towels were like sand paper, closet doors barely opened and closed, balcony door would not lock, patio furniture had seen much better days...... I could go on but you get the point. I did speak to Guest Relations who did apologize but did not see my point with how truly disappointed I was. They did finally get a coffee maker to the room. Although the room was suppose to be made up every day with fresh towels, it was not! I called to at least get some towels and after three phone calls and well over an hour the towels arrived without any apology. I did book 4 of the alternate dining rooms and did enjoy them, but dress code was not enforced. Men are to wear a collared shirt and long pants and this was not enforced. Other resorts would have denied entrance into this dining rooms unless dress code was met. The staff did try their best to make my experience better but what can they really do with a ship that has already sunk? The pools look in good shape (only 1 pool bar) but I decided to spend my time at the beach which was beautiful with white powder sand and crystal clear warm water! I have never ever written anything negative about a trip but this was such a shock to see the current condition of this resort. I was told all my comment I made to Guest Relations would be passed onto the General Manager, which they may have been, but I never did hear anything from them. I would love to see Playa Pesquero return to the breathtaking resort it once was. I continually mentioned to Guest Relations that if Playa Pesquero was going to be hosting our American friends they had better take a long hard look at the current state of the facility. Considering Playa Pesquero is rated as one of the top resorts in Cuba I will be curious to see what happens when American Tourism begins in the very near future..........

Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Hidden Gem

If you're not too picky, you'll love this resort. Friendly staff, AMAZING beach, and beautiful grounds. Only complaint was that check-in took 30 minutes- for some it took over 3 hours!! Some people complained about the food, but I loved it- fresh seafood every day! The room was very outdated (Luna side), and we were missing a shower, but one call and five minutes later, there was a handy man there within 5 minutes. New 1L bottle of water every day (plus you can get water at the bar- don't drink  [... read more]the tap!). Tipping was appreciated but it never seemed forced. Overall, well worth the price.

Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Couldn't be better!

Excellent service!!! The staff is very friendly and prompt, the snack bar has a few good choices for food, and the restaurants were excellent and the food was delicious, the food at the buffet was also great and other than that the beach is beautiful and the rooms were nice and well kept.

Brisas Guardalavaca: relaxing enjoyable trip - thank you Michelle

Thank you Michelle and her co-worker for recommending the Brisas. I have recommended our granddaughter to go there. We had a great time. Beach is outstanding, snorkeling in the facinity with one of their people was great. They did a good job on the entertainment side. Cuba has some amazing talent in singers, dancers and acrobatics. Better than any I have seen in Cuba to date. I enjoyed a smaller hotel as we could easily walk from beach to pool to lunch to our room. Note I have a bad hip so i [... read more]t worked great. Wheelchair ramps all over so they have accomodated handycaped. Staff were great. Food of okay not fantastic but in saying that for those of us who have cruised or stayed in 5 star hotels on other islands we have to consider the budget they are working with. For the money, the food was great and we didn't get sick which is a bonus. Also note, if you are into lobster you could have it at the al-a-cart restaurants which apparently is available year round. Chicken and fish was great so what more could we want. We went to the Holguin show from 5:00 to 1:00 in the morning. Tour of the city, dinner on the mountain top with a great entertainment crew of singers, violinists and acrobatics. From there we went to a night club opened for our bus group of 30 where we got a drink, cigar, half mickey of rum, a coke and a full out Cuban show. The owner treated us like guests in his home making us feel welcome. Provided a red rose to us for our 45th anniversary, a couple of drinks and thanked all of us, over and over for coming. It was a great way to see Holguin and spend our anniversary. To note a big crew of photographers hit the beach representing ABC, CNN, China news and others. They were hired to do a piece on Cuba. They interviewed us. I dread the day that Cuba is opened up. Our Canadian paradise will cease to exist as it is taken over by other countries coming in to monopolize on their amazing beaches and their friendly people. My recommendation is go while you can. I think we are putting cruising on hold and instead enjoying Cuban beaches while they are in our budget and not overrun. Thank you Michelle for making our 45th anniversary memorable. Judy

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Loved it!

My daughters and I just came back from a week at Blau & we loved it. The food was good and the staff was great. I had a problem with a leak with the a/c but they fixed it right away. Lots to see and do and the grounds were beautifully groomed. We stayed in the PLUS section, building - building 28, and it was a great location. Short walk to the pool and buffet. The VIP pool is wonderfully refreshing after being in the sun. I would highly recommend the catamaran/dolphin/snorkelling excursion with  [... read more]the lobster lunch. It was our first trip to Holguin but it won't be our last.

Brisas Guardalavaca: Lovely compact resort

My husband is handicapped and it was wonderful that there were elevators and, easy access to pool, beach, dining area, etc. Everything was close by. The beach is beautiful with lots of shade and is well maintained. The al a carte restaurants were superb with beautiful presentations and delicious food. We did not particularly like the buffet food but the al a carte restaurants made up for that. The staff were always pleasant and helpful.

Playa Pesquero: Very Good Resort

We have been here 9 times. Everything about this hotel is great except this is the first time that there was a mosquito problem. During our 7 days we only saw the mosquito spraying truck just once. On previous trips we noted that the spraying was twice per day at 6AM and 6PM. I hope that the new owners of this resort are not economizing on mosquito spray at the expense of the comfort of the guests.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Great Resort

This resort is well kept, the grounds are beautiful and the staff is wonderful. The food was good but not great, probably because I don't eat pork and there was a lot of stuff with pork. Need more variety with non pork items

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Good resort

The villa section is very good for a 3 star hotel. Rooms are very good, clean, with air conditner, fridge, tv. Beach is very nice, but a bit dirty after picnics by local people. Didn't like that they colect the beach chairs by 6:30 pm. Food was tolerable, but a lot of flies in the dining room flying and sitting all over the food and tables. That was a problem for me. Excursions were quite expensive.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Terrific Resort

The resort was very friendly was also very clean. The restaurants were very good quality and the pool and beach were great. Will be back again for sure. Only criticism would be the evening dress code is a bit antiquated being that it's 2016 I think they should relax the rules a bit.

Playa Costa Verde: Great Vacation!

Loved the hotel, service, food, staff, grounds. Cannot say anything negative about Playa Costa Verde. This was our third trip and huge improvement over the second stay (which was in 2012 and was not a very pleasant stay).

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Worst Customer Service

Grounds, rooms, beach and hotel workers all great. Customer service at the resort was beyond POOR with no manager ever available to help or be of service. Do not pay for WIFI service as they have none and they take away your money. MEN- Remember to bring pants as this was not communicated to us before we departed and my husband had to be escorted out of the buffet via security guards?? Ridiculous!

Brisas Covarrubias: Amazing friendly staff

I have stayed at the resort 4 times and will stay again. The staff is amazing and friendly The beach is great. The hotel is about 2 hours from the airport but the drive is interesting ..............

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Average resort

Dining room & everywhere smoking was allowed. We are not used to that in Canada. Toaster in dining room was far too slow guests just gave up on it. Sometimes there were boxed cereals but they were not made available to adults only children, in fact one of the staff told me off for taking a small bowl of mixed cereals from the "Children's table.I would like to say that the snacks on Airtransat. were a "ripoff" I will endeavour to avoid at all cost eating on the airline. Brisas Covarrubias: QUIET PARADISE

Best beach, best diving, best people but you need to know that you won`t probably go out of the site during your stay. The food is Cuba's food but if you're lucky and go fishing, they can cook you finsh. You can also purchase lobster at the reception.

Sol Turquesa Beach: Amazing resort

It is a wonderful place!! The people there were not just nice but very educated and helpful. The buildings are kept very nice. The nature there is magnificent, the beach is breathtaking beautiful, water so clean that you enjoy every swim...

Paradisus Rio De Oro: nothing but excelence

I have enjoyed every moments of this vacation, this resort is the best i have been so far. the food, the accommodation, service, facility and the beach sooooooooooo beautiful. looking for to return in November, :)

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Not really a five star hotel. Ala cartes slow

Air conditioning was not really working. Slow service at Ala carte. I liked the fact that it had non smoking areas. Quiet and relaxing if that is what you want to do. Not a lot of local shopping..

Sol Turquesa Beach: A Resort with a Unique Personality

This Resort is Special. Of course the staff are very nice and helpful with what ever question or need we have, but the design and 5 pools that connect with water cascading and falling into each one is lovely. The buffet is not as big as other resorts but the food is good and we were always satisfied. The entertainment was very good, they work hard and deserve commendation.
