Playa Pesquero: First time in Cuba did not disappoint!

Traveled at the beginning of May 2016, group of 6, ages ~23. Hotel was located about an hour from the Holguin airport. This is not a big party resort! Received a drink upon arrival. Quick check-in and check-out. Clean rooms with cute towel and bed designs each day. Rooms (block 11) were ~5min walk to hotel lobby, but you can take advantage of the golf cart pick-up and drop off for locations across the resort. Food was great! There was always something new to try. Favourite restaurants were Ro [... read more]mantico, Caribbean, and Italian - least favourite was the Seafood (meals were overcooked imho). Pool was beautiful, lots of sun and shade to go around. Busiest area was near the swim-up bar and games pool. Beach was small, but lots of loungers to spread out on. We were able to snorkle off the shores in crystal clear waters. The resort staff take such good care of everyone! They remembered who we were and our drink orders, plus they always had a spare moment for some salsa dancing! Nightly entertainment was good, same group of dancers each day. Highly recommend the aqua ballet. Excursions: we did the Island Paradise - long journey (1.5h bus ride, 1.5h catamaran to island +return), beautiful island, good snorkeling, safari was ok (animals were not native to the island).

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Good resort

Very nice and clean beach, snorkeling, clean rooms,variety of food. Cuban restaurant is good, but Italian I will not recommended. The weather was very nice during the stay, it was only few showers at evening.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Absolute Paradise!

This was our 4th trip to Cuba and while we normally stay in 4 - 4.5 star resorts, I have to say the Paradisus was by far the nicest resort we have stayed. The accommodations were large and comfortable, the grounds were impeccably kept and the food was very good. This was by far one of the easiest and most relaxing vacations we have taken. The main beach along with the little private beaches are very nice, the spa and it's setting is truly magnificient and a must do while staying at the Paradi [... read more]sus. While we didn't do the Royal Service we heard from other guests that it is truly fantastic. Our next trip to Cuba will be back to the Paradisus and hopefully the Royal Service.

Playa Pesquero: best Cuba trip !

This was our 9th vacation to Cuba...the BEST one. We had been to Playa Pesquero before, in 2003. This time we were guests in the relatively new addition to the resort ; the Premium Section. Absolutely a 5star place to stay. High end accommodations, very good food, top notch drinks and well trained and friendly staff. We'll be back...for sure !

Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Good resort.

We absolutely loved this resort. This was our first visit and we will definitely be back. The beach and grounds are amazing.The rooms are clean but needs renovations. Great week at this resort very quiet and relaxing. We stayed on the Luna side. Food was OK.

Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Amazing beach!!!!

There were a few bumps at this resort like really weak air-conditioning and repetitive food choices BUT the good far outweighed the bad. The staff were friendly and so hard working, the beach was outstanding and the hotel grounds and surroundings were lovely. I had a really enjoyable time.

Playa Pesquero: Mixed reviews

Room was in rough shape, cleaners did a good job whoever. Only good ala cart was the Caribbean, was sooo good. Rest were adequate. Buffet food was as expected not crazy good not completely terrible, whoever the buffet servers were quite snooty we found. We tipped and were polite but they seemed like we were a bother to them. Fedel the pool bar guy was my main man is an extremely good bartenders and server. Love that guy. Other then that we had a great time due to company and weather.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Very relazing full service resort

The renovated bathrooms were nice, overall cleanliness was great. Spa was amazing, great area to hang out for the day. the entertainment was good, always something different, The beach was nice, not quite enough shade for the number of people who wanted to be at the beach, but it always worked out somehow. The A-la carte restaurants were all very good, feel free to order double portions of Lobster! they don't blink an eye. the over all food was very good compared to other hotels in Cuba and the  [... read more]over all feel of the resort was quite relaxed. had a great time.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Better to come when season is not over..

This was my second time at this resort. This time it was off season. Main differences: less people, large pool which was good for swimming - closed. Most barmen did not make cocktails with all ingredients. Snack bar had no ketchup, only something that looked and tasted like tomato juice in a ketchup bottle. Bar in the main lobby did not have even ice crushers this time. Staff was friendly and polite as always. Rooms are nice and clean. Beach is perfect. Gym has no air conditioner (same last year [... read more]). Food is OK, and almost everyday we could get fish. Not enough green so it is easy to gain weight if you are not careful. They have Wi-Fi now in the lobby area and price for internet is less compare to last year. Will try another place on my next trip especially when it is off season.

Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Great R and R - just what the Dr. ordered

I had a wonderful time. The beach was just amazing. The water was perfect for swimming and lounging. The grounds were beautiful and the surrounding mountains were gorgeous. The staff were very helpful and pleasant. Of course, nothing is perfect but we really got more than our money's worth and are happy we decided to stay at Sol Rio De Luna y Mares.

Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Was better than we remember!

Hotel was great. Nice touches added. The beach was as beautiful as we remember. Food, great! Very relaxing. We enjoyed the excursions that are offered by the hotel. The hike up the mountain was superb. The only downside was the rebate card I received from my package. It was for $40 cash card, redeemable at certain service centers, like Valet parking. I never take that, but said why not? it was the same price as regular parking, if you included the cash card. Well, low and behold, when I went to [... read more] pay, they did not accept the card, so it cost $40 more. Not a great way to end the trip. Luna Y Mares, very nice, everything we wanted.

Brisas Guardalavaca: Nice resort

We booked a mini villa suite as we like quiet places. We were given a room beside a small pool and I was concerned that it will be to noisy for our liking. I was wrong, all activities are at the main pool in front of the main building so we were OK. Food was excellent, always something for everybody .Rooms were dated but clean.A/C barely working but kept the room cold enough to have a decent sleep.One day I came back into the room to get something and I stepped in a pool of water:the A/C was lea [... read more]king water thru an air vent.I call the reception and by the time we returned from the beach the leak was fixed and the room cleaned (very efficient). We had a great vacation and for sure this resort will stay on our list .

Playa Costa Verde: Great Resort

The hotel was very clean and our room was large and clean. The beach was awesome!!! The pool also! Would recommend this resort to anyone. Very family friendly. The staff was very good and always wanted to help in any way they could!

Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: What a wonderful HOLIDAY!!!

Me and my husband stayed for 11 nights in Sol Rio de Luna y Mares (Play Esmiralda) and we had the best time of our life! The resort complex is sitting on top of a small hill and it gives a stunning view of the surrounding area – you can see the ocean while drinking coffee in the main restaurant. The beach is just fantastic, white, fine sand extending right into the water, the beach is wide and covered by many palm trees, offer nice shade. Lots of activities on the beach: volleyball, paddle bo [... read more]ats, single and double kayaks, sail boats, snorkeling. The hotel stuff is very friendly and helpful. Food is very good.  And don’t miss their night shows, they are sparkling and genuine, spiced with hot Cuban flavor. I also recommend  to have walk on their forest trail with a fantastic view point at the end (3 cuc per person). I am looking forward to spend my next vacation in this resort, given the opportunity!  Wish you all a fantastic vacation like we had!!!

SPEND ONE WEEK AT THIS RESORT: THE POOLS, BEACH GREAT ! ALL THE SERVICES WE GOT WAS EXCELLENT (THANKS TO EDDY (24 HR BAR) JOSE (24HR BAR), CARLOS (24 HR BAR) THE RESTURANT : ENA, JAMILA GREAT SERVICE:EXCEPT FOR THE "RECEPTION" (NEEDS TO BE REVAMP) SERVICE SUCKS AT THE RECEPTION DESK.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Disappointed

Will never go back! Not pleased at all The food was not good no salads and I am not a picky person no fruit.. to pick from ... Front desk was not helpful unless you offer them money ... Peter doesnt know what Paul doing at the front desk...

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Incredible Resort!

We had an amazing time at Paradisus Rio De Oro. If I could, I would give it 6 stars. The service was friendly, fast and genuine. The food was delicious; the buffet had a lot of variety, we could have eaten there all week, though the a la cartes were also exquisite. The beach was perfect. We didn't spend a lot of time at the pool, but it was clean and looked very relaxing. Our room was in great shape and very comfortable. The cleaning service is very efficient. What I liked most about the experience was the freedom to make our day as full or as lazy as we desired. We would definitely go back and plan on it in a couple of years! Thanks very much!!

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Great Resort

I found that the food was better than I expected, and the beaches were beautiful. Our maids were respectful, and the service was great. The one thing I disliked was the sewage system that you could smell on the walk back to the rooms. It was not pleasant to smell unwanted fumes every night back to the rooms, especially after a big meal. Overall I rate 4/5 stars, and I would go back again, but with nose plugs this time!

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: AWESOME resort :)

We stayed at the Blau Costa Verde Plus from April 29-May 6, 2916. Loved, loved this resort, definitely will be going back! First time my husband and I travelled by ourselves, we loved the fact that the airport in Holguin (Frank Paris International) was small and we were not intimidated in the least. We flew with Air Transat and everything went smoothly (1 hour delay returning back to NS) but we had the VIP Lounge to relax in. Loved the bottled water at the beach (so nice and cold). Their filtrat [... read more]ion system at this resort is wonderful (meaning you can drink the water there). The staff were amazing, always smiling. Loved my omelet and bacon every morning as did my husband. Wish you had a larger variety of fruits, but we managed on watermelon and pineapple. We had 5 a-la-cartes and they were all AMAZING (really enjoyed the Lobster, but our French was the BEST! BEACH is wonderful (don't forget your beach shoes) a small amount of coral to walk through before you can enjoy, but you get to see a lot of fish as you are walking out, I really enjoyed this. We only did one show and this was the five gentlemen that made wonderful music with no instruments, they were beyond amazing. Grounds are okay, but does look like they are adding more to this to beautify, all takes time I guess. All public areas were super clean. Loved the cats and kittens, and was okay with the land crabs (once I got used to them), they are enormous, but each so different and beautiful. Pleased with our room everything worked and had no problems, took us two nights to get used to the beds but we always have an adjustment like that when we travel. Loved our VIP Pool, wasn't crowded and had no problem getting a place to sit and use the pool. Loved the Beach restaurant (our favourite was the french fries and hamburgers, it was the BOMB). ALSO loved the VIP Lounge for drinks, so comfortable and relaxing to go in and have drinks before and after dinner. No line ups for drinks at the beach or pool. Always so gracious when you tip them :). Big thank you all around from all the staff. Always someone on the beach and when I put my hand up to show two chairs they were right there to set up your chair and always cleaned it off. I know this is long and winded, but this resort is marvellous and definitely will be returning. ALSO loved all the security as this was a public beach and we had no problems at all we felt very safe. One other thing maybe when people are checking in there should be better organization as when we arrived people were checking out as well and we were in the incorrect line up :(

Playa Pesquero: Not as good as it used to be

Grounds are still beautiful, rooms very outdated for 4 1/2 star hotel, lot of food ,not too many new dishes, no shower on the beach, pool was taken care of but even majority people were on the beach, it was littered and not taken care of?
