Oleo Cancun Playa: Great Resort

Resort was great however our room was extremely loud from traffic. The food was good but additional restaurant or two would be great for more a la cart choices. The pool was not large but nice however better access for guests with limitations to get in and out of the pool would be advantageous. We had a very late arrival on our first day so we didn’t get to take advantage of the facilities that day at all. We also had a late flight departure on our last day and had to pay a minimal fee to use th [... read more]e facilities for our remaining time at the resort. Our check out was at noon so a late check out or a place to shower, clean up, and change would have been great. That way we could have enjoyed the remaining day using the facilities (pool and beach). The staff did store our luggage for us which was very helpful. The resort was immaculate and the staff were amazing! They catered to our every want and need. The restaurants that were available were great. The Asian restaurant, in particular, was absolutely wonderful and the servers were awesome. The resort grounds were the perfect size and we never felt crowded. The evening entertainment was also very enjoyable and fun.

The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences Playa Del Carmen: Great resort!

This is a great hotel, with excellent food (5 out of 5), great pools (5 out of 5) but the beach is pretty bad (just a 1, or max 2, out of 5). We have stayed in another resort in the area few years ago and the beach was pretty bad too, this is not the hotel's fault, it's just the location. So, if you like the beach, then this resort or area in general is not recommended. At dinner time, restaurants are excellent, even the buffet, since it changes every night and it's focused in different type of food (Italian, seafood, etc), which is not as the usual buffet where you always see the same food every time... The resort have kept the forest and built a wooden trail, which is excellent to go for a walk and see monkeys, coatis, lizards, etc. Just a couple of thumb-down: NO ice-cream, actually you can get for a fee (~ CAD5), and definitely the beach as mentioned before.

Planet Hollywood Cancun by Royalton: Lacking Service & Terrible Dining Reservation Process

Service – by far the worst service we’ve received: - Reception was not helpful and did a terrible job of explaining things during check-in and didn’t get anything better on follow-up - Did not receive water in the room despite calling 3 times (room service, front desk and concierge) and when we went to the two bars that actually had bottled water, they claim to have run out…. We were going on an excursion booked with PH and needed water with 30c+ temps! - FYI – we had refillable bottles whic [... read more]h we used so bottled water was just for trips and as needed to refill overnight Dining – MOST TERRIBLE reservation system and app - We could not get dining booked for first 2 nights because it opens a certain time and is booked up. PH should help guests for first 2 days as there is no way you can get reservation on the app - We were party of 4 and due to dietary restrictions we needed to split up meals for one evening and app does not support 2 reservations for the night – terrible design - Japanese reservation, I wanted to move the timing to later it due excursion and went to them 2 days in advance and restaurant nor front desk did anything – so not helpful or accommodating. They didn’t even want to hear it so we cancelled it A couple of good things but that was because of the people: - Entertainment team was amazing - Pool and beach wait staff were great but of course only when you tipped them Overall, I would not go back to this PH given the terrible service and dining reservation – Mexico has lots of resorts that do better and PH is not one of them!

Riu Palace Pacifico: WONDERFUL VACATION AT THE RIU PALACE PACIFICO

The staff here were all fantastic, friendly and very helpful. Pool side & beach area always had plenty of shaded chairs, I wish there were more patio chairs for people with back issues. Be forewarned the concrete deck around the pool is very slippery when you are getting out of the pool. The Buffet never got boring, plenty of choices for all appetites (nice to see Gluten Free options). The Steak House was the most popular we had the Surf & Turf; cooked to perfection. Beds were comfortabl [... read more]e as were the pillows. If you are lost with out knowing the time, bring your own clock. There are no clocks anywhere to be seen ** Time doesn't matter on vacation :) We were surprised to see that there were very few Elite guests, the poor bartender in the Elite lounge was usually was on his own. We definitely enjoyed our vacation and appreciate the resort being Adults Only. This is the 2nd visit to the Riu Resorts our 1st was the Ocho Rio in Jamaica.

Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: The resort was lovely, but very large, too much walking,

The hotel was lovely, but way too large for the restaurants, so many people with not enough places to eat. Waiting I lines, not able to get into the restaurants because they were already booked even though we tried on our arrival day. Towel bar by the restaurants not by pools, so you had to carry them and then take them back to an area that was 15 min walk from your room. We are in our 70s and we were given rooms farthest away from any of the facilities. The eco environment was lovely, swi [... read more]mming in the senote, and the animals very enjoyable. Large peacocks and monkeys. The beach and ocean was rocky and you were unable to swim. The staff were pleasant and hard working but unable to answer most questions. We went on March Break so the place was packed and unable to accommodate so many people at the same time.

Catalonia Grand Costa Mujeres: Highly Recommend !

I have been to the RUI in Paradis Island, the Catalonia surpassed all expectations. The layout allows you to move around with easy, and not feeling corralled. Food in restaurant and buffet is high quality. Rooms are spacious well maintained and clean

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Very enjoyable resort!

We (adult family) very much enjoyed our stay at this resort! It is a vast resort, making it a great, safe place to explore. There was quite a bit of walking, but the landscaping was beautiful, and there was lots of wildlife and birds to observe. We also took the electric trolley carts to explore the sister resorts attached to this resort. The buffet had lots of delicious food to try with various themes. We didn't even try the a la carte restaurants as there was so much to try. The staff were exc [... read more]ellent and went out of their way, including Ricardo at check-in, who diligently ensured that our rooms were all together when the travel agent who booked us forgot to note that we were a family and we were put in units very far apart. The beach and pools were great, and the staff served drinks everywhere. My only complaint might be the hard mattress - but the rest of my family loved them and slept soundly. Also, there was the smell of sewer gas in some places, which might have something to do with the mangrove forest throughout the resort, but it was never that bad. Also, the surf was rough this time of year, which also meant there was always a breeze to help you keep cool. The location was near Tulum, with many cenotes, snorkelling lagoons and natural places to explore, but it is a long 2-hour drive from Cancun airport. I would definitely consider returning. The shows were good, especially the Fiesta over at the Hacienda, and the prices of souvenirs were cheaper than the airport and the archeological sites like Tulum and Chichen Itza.

Riu Flamingos: Disappointed

We were told by our rep that the restaurants were going to remain opened until 11:30 pm, nothing was opened. No Room Service at all. No pool service had to get our own drinks Out 5 restaurants only one was opened for breakfast and then there was a break when nothing was opened. Restaurant for lunch opened at 1:00 pm Only allowed one towel per person at pool. Mini bar was refreshed every other day water was important and we call every day to get some. Entertainment finished a [... read more]t midnight and very loud we could not sleep. Security did not control a noisy bunch of young adults at 2:30 in the morning. We were initially told by our rep to meet at 5:30 pm for departure. On departure day we were informed by the rep to meet at 4:50 pm as our flight is now scheduled to leave 1 hour earlier. When we got to the airport the check in agent said that there is no flight change and it was schedule still to leave on time.

Iberostar Selection Playa Mita: Great time! Excellent choice for our March Break (2 adults + 2 teens)

Just back from a March Break trip. Was great for our family. Hits: - Wonderful staff. Really lovely, hardworking people. The Activities team was particularly awesome, but everyone made us feel welcome. - Daytime activities. From archery, to rifle shooting (not a Canadian thing but loved it - who knew?), to ping pong, to Bingo (yes, Bingo), to pool volleyball, to beach aerobics and beyond, there was always something to do. Teens and adults could do as much - or little - as desired. - Size. B [... read more]ig enough to not feel small, but walkable. - No seaweed on the beach! (Yes, it the water can be rough and it's got some pebbles but I walked in both directions in bare feet without issue.) - Food worked for the week. Snack bar was a major hit with our kids. A la cartes were a nice change (we skipped Pacific Express due to poor reviews, but did the others). Misses: - Nothing major. Rooms were a bit dated, but worked for us. Pool needed a bit of love, but again, worked for us. We've stayed at many all-inclusives in Mexico, the DR, & Cuba, and this worked well for this life stage. While not a 5-star hotel (of course), we had a great time...and felt that the value-for-experience was strong. We would come back when back if we have grandkids - the hotel is built for multi-generational families.

Catalonia Riviera Maya: Catalonia Resort

Very nice resort, workers are so kind to everyone. Our rooms on the other hand had a very bad odor of mold/mildew/water damage, not nice enough for what we paid. The meals were meh, tired very quickly of buffet and the same food severed over and over. I do not think I will ever go back to this resort.

Grand Oasis Cancun: Horrible resort.

During the week it seemed to be a different problem everyday, whether is was extra charges we didn't know about, dirty eyelashes on our bed that weren’t from us, cold and stale food and constant loud noises every night preventing us to sleep. Our shower flooded the floor each time we showered as it didn't have a door on it, and the cleanliness of our sinks and toilets was a bit alarming. I have never been treated so poorly by staff at a place as I was at the Grand Oasis and the only way to get decent food or drinks was to tip, and even then it still wasn’t up to any satisfaction. This morning we didn’t even have a shuttle come to pick us up and had to spend an extra 20 dollars to even get to the airport which was basically the story of our week. I will not ever come back to this resort or cancun again and I recommend not booking here either. Trip central told us we could get refunded on a uber cause our shuttle didnt show up and that didnt happen either. Brutal

Barcelo Maya Tropical: Will go back a third time!

Considering that it is Spring break in America and March break in Canada. It was still a good resort for the money that was spent. Where else can you have daily options of food, a mall, disco, escape room and an outdoor lap pool in one complex? The nightly shows, were surprisingly good (usually not interested). The Disney theme, was the best with bubbles and characters on their wheelie shoes. Professional, singing and costume design/choregraphy.

Iberostar Waves Paraiso del Mar: Still a great resort

This is a beautiful resort and you feel welcome from the moment you set foot in the lobby. The grounds are gorgeous and meticulously kept. The buildings and restaurants are clean and pretty well maintained by the staff but there were a few areas that needed some attention. The staff are friendly and very accommodating and attentive. The pools are beautiful and you never feel crowded. One thing that I did notice this trip ( we have been to this resort 3 times) was that there seemed to be a sh [... read more]ortage of staff at the pool bars, and some restaurants. We were on vacation so not a big deal to wait for things but I felt for the staff. The only other small complaint was the quality of the linens in our room weren’t great- towels were frayed, pillows old and flat Still useable but not up to the standards we had experienced previously.

Grand Palladium Vallarta: Nice resort

Would not recommend for people with knee/walking problems as there are too many stairs going up and down. Stuff was very polite and friendly, pool areas were clean. Restaurants were nice, buffet had a variety of food to choose from.

Grand Park Royal Cozumel: Not the best

While the staff are doing a good job, the resort itself is handicapped by its location and other issues, The cruise ships are in your face at the beach, not across a pier faraway. There are not enough loungers for the number of guests, neither at the beach or around the pool resulting in a rediculous rush to reserve loungers before 7am. Guests are so aggressive they crash through barriers to get their towels on the best spots before 6am. A dispute erupted with one self-absorbed guest insisting s [... read more]he had intended to reserve the lounger I took that didn't have a towel on it and I should have intuitively understood that it was reserved without a towel because of its location beside the loungers she had put a towel on. I told her she should have put her underwear over all 3 loungers,it could have fit...case closed. Don't bring high heels, walkers or wheelchairs the sidewalk is concrete and natural stone and worse than cobblestone. I saw an elderly woman crying with a small gash on her head sitting on the sidewalk. I hadn't witnessed the fall but I knew the cause. There are 11 all-inclusive resorts on Cozumel, Royal Park Cozumel is ranked #8 for a reason, although it should be noted that it is not the worst. I went to the ala carte Mexican restaurant on Tuesday night, I spent all of Wednesday with Montezuma's Revenge a most terriible gastro-intestinal war was going on inside me. The battle was still going on but I got up to enjoy a birthday excursion I had booked previously on Thursday, I suffered the rest of the week. My overall assessment of this resort is certainly influenced by my experience and I can assure you I won't be going back. Did I say the grounds are lovely, a lush green jungle full of grackles and iguanas. I'll leave you with a metaphor; when the grackles aren't tweeting, they are squawking.

Playa Mazatlan: Not a peace full place

Spent two weeks with horns blowing, loud speakers playing, from about noon to eight in the evening, The beach area is the loudest area ,we tried to get away and find a quiet area it is almost impossible . The pool in the interior has music so loud it travels through the resort , we were trying to find a peace full location , so we would leave the resort just about every day. I realize the beach is a public area and your culture likes music but what we experienced was to much .It ruined the bea [... read more]ch area, also the people selling stuff was a nuisance, so the beach area was very annoying . We came all the way from Canada to enjoy a beach and were very disappointed. On the good side the staff were very friendly and help full . We changed rooms to find a quiet area and found that both rooms were clean and well kept. i would not recommend this resort based on our time there .

Grand Sunset Princess: Second Time Didn’t Disappoint

Love this place- every type of food/beverage you could want. Beautiful grounds that are well kept and lush. The coati, iguanas, deer and monkeys are all a treat to see- sometimes invasive but not if you remember the rules! The staff were friendly and helpful and took the time to greet you warmly- in the bars, restaurants and the hallways. It was our second time here at the swim up room. These are amazing- best bang for your buck for sure!!!

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: A perfect and wonderful resort.

Everything about this resort was perfect, the food was good with a wide variety and the drinks were available any where we asked for one. Everywhere was clean, comfortable and well laid out. The staff were friendly and helpful. I enjoyed the shows and the excursions we took.were excellent. The resort was full with numerous families including small children but it never seemed crowded and the children all seemed to be enjoying themselves, I believe there were activities for them and I  [... read more]did see a playground. I had a wonderful week and have no complaints.

Oleo Cancun Playa: Nice small resort

This is a very small resort, things are close. The hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. The pool area is small and the beach was super wavy but beautiful. Limited options for dinner; only 2 restaurants in addition to the buffet. Food was good, the Asian restaurant was great! Entertainment in the bar lounge was good and the coffee bar was awesome. Traffic was very loud from the room that faced the lagoon. Had to pay an extra environmental fee 42 USD.

Secrets Playa Blanca Costa Mujeres: Incredible place!

Beautiful resort! Super chill. 4 night stay was perfect amount of time to reset, relax and eat great food. Brand new, gorgeous rooms, great restaurants, great atmosphere. The staff were all great people! A++. Food was amazing. Great beach and great bar service. I wish the tequila selection was a little better, considering it’s Mexico. We don’t ever return to the same place twice, but will definitely come back here.
