The room size was great.I had a problem with the towel rack in the bathroom falling off the wall and the toilet seat being extremely loose. Both were fixed within a few days. The decor was old and the tv was small, (my pc monitor is bigger.)The grounds were well kept, scenery beautiful.Pools were fantastic, entertainment excellent.Night time entertainment was great, the actors did a fantastic job. Food was great for Cuba. Staff were great. Beach was awesome, weather could not have been better.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Great vacation
My husband and I stayed at the Melia Jardines del Rey from February 3 to 10. When we were choosing our hotel we were a bit leery about the size of this one. It has over 1,000 rooms and our guide told us it is the largest Melia property in the world. But we knew the Flamenco beach was fantastic, having stayed at two neighbouring hotels the last three years, so we thought we’d give it a try.
Arrival and check-in:
The hotel is about 15—20 minutes from the airport and because there were quit[... read more]e a few of us going to this hotel we went there directly without having to drop off passengers at other resorts. We flew with Air Canada and arrived at the hotel around 10 p.m. There were two other buses expected around the same time so the hotel staff took us to a conference room and handled our check-in there instead of having us line up at the reception desk. They also brought Cuban CUCs so we could exchange our money right there. We were then driven to our rooms by one of the many shuttles that move across the property regularly.
Rooms:
We were given a room on the second floor in Bungalow #9. The room was one of the nicest we’ve had in our 16 trips to Cuba. It was spacious, clean and comfortable. The bathroom was great. Large shower, lots of hot water and great water pressure. The mini fridge was restocked every day. The AC worked well without fail.
Beach:
The Flamenco beach is magnificent. A few years ago the three hotels on that strip enlarged the beach substantially allowing for more beach chairs and palapas. Chairs were available no matter what time of the day you came to the beach. However, as is the case at most resorts, if you want to secure a spot with shade you need to stake your claim by 7:30 a.m. at the latest. We’re used to doing this and have no problem getting up early to ensure a great day in an ideal spot. The water was crystal clear and the sand was great. There were some rocks so water shoes are a good idea.
Pools:
We never use the pools when in Cuba because we are there for the beach. But from what we saw the pools were lovely and well maintained. There was also a children’s pool and a large children’s area complete with slides, swings and a huge inflatable bouncing/climbing area.
Food and drink:
I often read complaints from visitors to Cuba about the quality of the food. We don’t set our expectations too high and as a result we are rarely disappointed. The resort has two buffets that serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. If I have one negative comment about this resort it was the lack of variety in the buffet the first few days we were there. Even the juice was watered down which we found odd. I suspect that they had an issue with supply, because things improved slightly while we were there. We never ate lunch at the buffet because there is an excellent smaller buffet right on the beach that had a good selection of lunch options. We made reservations at three a la carte restaurants – Cuban, Asian and Mexican – and all three were excellent. The food was good as was the service. There is also a 24 hour snack bar on site that services the basics – sandwiches, burgers, salads and the like. Their burgers were great.
Entertainment:
There was usually some kind of musical entertainment in the lobby in the evening – singers, violinists, etc. But because the lobby is so huge, the entertainment is really only enjoyed by guests who can get a seat close to the performance area. In the a la carte restaurants we enjoyed some live Cuban music performed by musicians who moved through the restaurants. We tend to be early to bed and early to rise people so we rarely attend the large evening shows in the theater. But we did go for the Cuban Night and it was well worth it. The show was professionally done.
Resort layout and ambience:
Despite its size, the resort is actually more compact than we expected. Everything was within a reasonable walking distance – 5 to 10 minutes at most. They also have staff driving the grounds in shuttles and offering lifts to anyone who wants one, which is a nice touch. Where we noticed a bit of a difference from previous trips to other resorts was that this resort seemed a bit “sterileâ€. Let me explain what I mean by that. The resort lacked ambience. There didn’t seem to be a central core to the resort where people would gravitate to. At smaller resorts we would usually find ourselves sitting next to the same people and this made for pleasant conversations over a drink. We have made friends this way in the past who we still keep in touch with. We didn’t find that here. What was interesting about this was that other guests seemed to be seeking ambience as well. There wasn’t a person we passed at any time of the day who didn’t smile and say Hello, Bonjour or Hola. This was new to us and we found it lovely and refreshing.
The staff:
The staff at this resort was always a pleasure to deal with. They genuinely wanted their guests to have a great experience. We are always grateful and generous with tips and/or gifts when we see someone going beyond the call of duty. The Cuban people are one of the main reasons we are drawn back to their beautiful country. We look forward to our next trip.

Melia Costa Rey: Pullman in Cayo Coco - Amazing resort
Just returned after a week (Feb 17-24) at Pullman in Cayo Coco. This was our second visit there and it will NOT be our last.
We reached the hotel around noon and our room was ready earlier than the 3 pm time given. The room was very clean and well stocked. We got a hand written welcome note from the GM Jean Lue Grossin. We did not expect this.
We went back to the Pullman because the food was very good. This time around, the food was even better. No complaints there!
The Pool side entertainmen[... read more]t team was very good too. A special shout out to: Adrian, AA, Betty, Genie, Baby Jr, Richard (he remembered us from our previous visit 2 years ago) and Chico.
A special mention to Yelanis at El Carey dining room as well as the lady at the Cuban restaurant (she used to be at the lobby bar few years ago).
The acknowledgements will not be complete without a mention of the very efficient individuals at the Lobby Bar - Edgar, Antonio, Riggler, Yaddiel and Ebert.
The staff at all the restaurants were very courteous and pleasing. A special mention about Felix at the Japanese restaurant. The entertainment provided by the professionals every night at the amphitheater was something we looked forward to. It is the best in the Caribbean!
We loved our stay at Pullman and will most certainly be going back next year (normally we head out to Palladium, Punta Cana but not so next year).
Keep up the great work guys and see you soon!!

Starfish Cayo Guillermo: Happy Get Away Place
Overall, i thoroughly enjoyed my time at this resort. I especially loved the bungalow style as opposed to typical hotel /resort style. My only downsides were the air conditioning in the bungalow didn't work and no one came to fix it during the week i was there despite 3 phone calls as well as there being a fridge in the room but neither did it work . all in all , minor inconveniences except for the air conditioning. opened the patio door for a nice breeze but then the cats came in.

Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo: Great Resort
The rooms were great, clean airy and the mini fridge stocked every day. The buffets were good and the restaurants were good our favourite being the “Italianâ€. The beach was fantastic, maybe a few more huts for shade would’ve been nice but a fantastic beach. There also was a disco and bowling lanes just outside the resort. The staff were friendly and very helpful. We will be keep this resort high on our list for a return visit.

Melia Cayo Coco: Great Place
The resort was really good. We found the staff very friendly and helpful. Food was good. The only thing about the food was there needed to be more of a verity between day to day. Different days. different array of food. Yes they had a theme food section each day but it was very small and found not enough to choose from, everything else was the same as the day before and even the same as lunch. But, what we had was good, After eating at the specialty restaurant which were good, you need to eat at[... read more] the buffet and verity would have been good. Rooms were clean but you can tell they are old and needed to be updated. Ceramic floor and bathroom tiles were chipped. Bathroom tub and tiles needed to be re-grouted, grout was chipped and dirty looking. Some walls needed to be repaired and painted was a must, but like I said it was clean. strangely enough the beds were so hard but we had the best sleep, go figure. When we booked we asked our trip central agent, Manuela to put us on the second floor but Melia did not do that, they would do it they said, but we would have to wait longer for the room and it would be much further away, so we felt that they really didn't want to do that and stayed where we were placed. The grounds, pool and beach were wonderful. The only thing there we had to laugh at the signs posted about not reserving loungers as everyone did. They would throw their towels down and left for the day. Around the pool more umbrellas was needed, but area around beach and pool were very clean and nicely keep. Again I can't say enough about the staff, everyone you passed had a hello and a smile they were so NICE! Yes we would go back there and did enjoy ourselves very much!

Sol Cayo Coco: Small Resort with Ambience
A nice resort with large clean rooms. An easy walk to the beach, pools, and buffet. The food was typical. Because the resort is small there were never line ups at the buffet and you didn't have to wait to find chairs at the beach. The only complaint I have is that there is a mini fridge in each room, but they did not supply beer or soft drinks once.
When we asked about it we were told we would have to pay extra. That's a first for me. The room itself was more than adequate with hot showers, la[... read more]rge balcony looking over the ocean and good maid service.
We found the bar service inconsistent. Sometimes we had to wait quite a while to get served.
Wonderful hotel Food was great rooms were good waiters and waitresses were wonderful I can’t say enough about the beach it was just simply amazing the most beautiful beach I’ve ever been to loved it will definitely be going back again

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Staff make the resort!
Beautiful resort and the most wonderful staff. Pros- Friendly staff, great drinks and awesome pizza. Always found chairs on beach and pool and met so many incredible new friends. Cons- in Building 23 we only had 3 days of warm water for showers. Don’t leave anything on patio if on ground floor. Items were stolen in the next room. I will definitely return next year!

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Nice resort but in need of updating in rooms
The grounds were very well kept , and the walk way through out were very nice! Beach was amazing but would be great to have a washroom at each of the entrances to the beach where they have the showers just a long walk to go back to your room. Food was better than my trip to Varedaro 5 years ago. But have a long way to go to improve on the food. Pizza and Banana chips were great at the beach. Our 2 ala carts were ok very small portions were served and food was ok. The cafe was very nice and the [... read more]irish coffee was excellent. Saw the sports bar with white seats and went there one night . The chairs were so dirty it was kinda gross . never went back there. The buffet was nice staff were polite you can find something to eat just again the food is different and repetitve. The washrooms were clean . Our room the shower bathroom mirror were not cleaned all week. I did it myself . You couldn't take your drink out of where you were they seemed worried you would take or lose the glass. I don't know maybe they are held responsible for missing utensils etc. Had a great time went with freinds the weather was perfect . But they really need to redo the rooms , and they need to be cleaned better.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Memories Caribe is great
We were greeted well with a wonderful refreshment. The rooms were spacious and kept clean every day. The beaches are spectacular. They have a barbecue and a Pizza Hut for lunch at the beach and if you want a lobster at the beach you could order one it was very tasty. The entertainment was the greatest I ever seen. The a la cart restaurant were good . We really enjoy the Cuban restaurant the best good wine and service. We were there for two weeks and the weather was amazing.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Smile and enjoy the beach
This resort is all about the beach. It is truly incredible! The food was good and plenty of variety. The resort is severely understaffed but friendly. Bartenders were extremely inexperienced and slow. Bars often ran out of beer or other products for the day. We couldn't get a towel until our second day,and couldn't get it changed the rest of the week due to shortages. It was disappointing but we made the best out of it. The staff that was there went out way to make our stay pleasant while apologi[... read more]zing for issues obviously beyond their control. It was warm and sunny during our stay so we smiled and enjoyed the beautiful weather.

Hotel Vigia: Amazing beach!
The resort is small quaint and has Cuban charm. Love the tranquillity and the delightful staff sharing big smiles.
The downside is the poor desk service made to feel like an intrusion always.
The food was absolutely disgusting. same dried out rice. beans. old food recycled..this was very disappointing. very little fresh fruit. tables always dirty. Have been there 4 times and saw such an extreme change. understaffed. Do not expect a beach towel. Was there a week snd was given a used one d[... read more]isguised as clean.
Sad to see the change. Weather perfect. entertainment was lovely with talented variety all week. The al la carte was consistent with delicious meals. Made the best if food. just be careful. undercooked old pork and raw chicken..been going to Cuba for years and first time I'll from food. Take a beach towel. protein bars. water bottle and lots gravol if you eat the bad food.
Kite boarding fun to watch at the beautiful beach.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Not very amazing, sorry!
It is very nice, but still has severe problems with the water supply - was down from 3-4 hours in daytime and off and on throughout my stay 14 days. Staff was very friendly, as helpful as they could; food was very repetitive and lacking in fresh fruit/vegetables; left to sit out on buffet all day long!
Want a working site to discuss Sunwing return flight, so pls pass this on to me!!

Hotel Playa Paraiso: Excellent resort
This was our 4th time to Cuba 1st time to cayo coco .It was by far the best trip we have had.the resort was clean and the food was good. The only negative thing is the beds could've been better you would be hard pressed to beat the beaches
Would like to start by saying this was our first time at this resort and I must say that the entertainment staff Michel, Lazara, Zoe, Ricardo and Ely (to name a few, as i can't remember all of their names) were quite amazing. They did a fabulous job at engaging the people in games, activities and nightly events. The nightly events were absolute amazing - loved their version of Dirty Dancing! The bartenders Dave and Raul went above and beyond by supplying us with drinks (even virgin daiquiris) by[... read more] the pool in between serving us and others at the swim up bar (No Diamond Club required!). Dave has some nice shots in our Beer Pong game. No complaints about the rooms or food. Everyday I looked forward to seeing what the cleaning staff would do with the towels, as they would shape them into Swans, hearts, Cats, flowers, etc... Everyone from the front desk, to the gardeners, to the staff at the buffet, were just absolutely amazing - always ready to help and serve. We will definitely be returning in years to come. The only small complaint (completely our end) is that the group we went down with was scattered around the resort, so next year we will try to get rooms closer together, or in similar areas. Other than that we all have nothing but positive things to say about this resort (Memories Caribe) and the people there.
