Occidental Arenas Blancas: Very Nice Resort!

This is a very nice resort. Beautiful beach and pools. Something for everyone. Very clean. Food was good but not always as hot as it should be. The a la carte's were excellent. I found the staff very rude most of the time. I however ignored this as their understanding of English was poor so I am not sure that this may have been the reason.

Barcelo Solymar: Not for individuals with tase

The hotel, 15 years ago, was not even finished but what was finished was beautiful. The service was excellent and the food quality and variety were great. This was our 1st trip to Cuba. !5 years later we went back to a total disaster. There were ceiling water leaks all over the place. Main one in front of the entrance to the main buffet restaurant. It was there when we got there and 11 days later. Ceiling leaking in the buffet restaurant itself and many other places including customer rooms. T [... read more]he black mold was plentiful. Food was only available at the buffet restaurants, the bars which used to have grills were all shut down or served as bars only. The a la carte restaurants, 4 only between the 2 hotels, had such a limited menu, 1 appetizer choice of 4 noodles or pastas and 1 dessert. The washroom facilities in Solymar lobby were closed so if one needed to use them, either the outside bars or go to the room. The stairs were very dangerous to use with broken railings or loose hand rails.I fell down a flight of stairs, luckily no broken bones but bruises all over my body.. The pools are chipped and rusting on the bottoms. The food was the worst quality we ever experienced in Cuba and this was our 8th trip there.I'm not sure we will return to Cuba after this trip.The guests were mainly younger party type and many Russian customers. Barcelo is a brand we are going to avoid in the future. Front lobby personnel need training in customer service. The service personnel were excellent and hard working.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Amazing vacation !!

We absolutely loved this resort. The kids were never bored. The grounds were impeccable and the staff overly friendly. Not a bad word to say! We will definitely be booking this trip again with Stephanie Brucculieri. She had a great recommendation! Thank you for the memories.

Allegro Cozumel: Definitely Recommend!

My boyfriend and I visited from January 20th to the 27th and we had an amazing experience! We arrived late (11pm) and there was no problems getting checked in and getting situated in our room. The entire week, service was great and staff was always friendly and willing to answer any questions. The resort is very kid-friendly (we don't have kids), but we didn't find it to be overwhelming or annoying. If you're not a kid-friendly person though their partner resort Occidental is just down the beach [... read more] and is more adult-oriented. There are plenty of options for food! Most meals were served in a buffet style, but you never lacked for option. If you're down for trying Mexican dishes you have that or if you'd prefer to stick with what you know, there were always some more basic options! Both of us experienced a little bit of Montezuma's revenge, so I would pack some Pepto Bismol if you are worried about this. Overall, this was an amazing experience and I would definitely go back!

Occidental Cozumel: Exactly what we were looking For

Very nice smaller sized hotel, looks like they cater more to adults, but can accommodate families. It was marvellous to laze by adults pool, see the bar across the pool from you, then you see your three storey group of rooms just beyond that... Food selection was very good, drinks were cold. Oscar was wonderful finding excursions for exactly what we were looking for. Got trapped into a time-share one hour talk that lasted three hours on our first morning there... Allegro Cozumel: LOVED IT

LOVED THE WHOLE HOTEL , ROOMS , FOOD , POOLS, BEACH. THE BEDS WERE COMFORTABLE MEMORY FOAM MATTRESSES. HAD A GREAT TIME THERE. MY FRIENDS GOT MARRIED ON THE TRIP AND THE STAFF BENT OVER BACKWARDS FOR THEM. EVERYTHING THE STAFF SAID THEY WOULD DO, THEY DID AND MORE. THE SUNSETS WHERE GREAT. THE RESORT IS NOT HUGE SO IT IS EASY TO WALK AROUND TO THE POOLS , BEACH.

Allegro Cozumel: Another Great Vacation at the Allegro

We have been to the Allegro before and we're excited to go back again. The recent renovations were lovely and gave the resort a much needed freshening up. The food has also improved and the buffet and a la cartes are all excellent. What makes this resort is the staff. They are friendly, attentive and work very hard to ensure you have an enjoyable stay. The rooms are beautiful and the new beds very comfortable. Love the new bathrooms. This is a very family friendly resort. We love the Allegro and will definitely return.

Occidental Caribe: A wonderful, amazing resort

I thought the resort had much to offer, there was a party area when I wanted to be entertained and then there was a quiet pool area were I could relax and enjoy myself. I thought the resort was big enough that you could walk around and enjoy the sites and the building and the pools areas and beach, the beach bar was close enough to get to.. Barcelo Maya Colonial: Great resort

The resort is very clean and the staff is very helpful. The buffets are huge and the la a carts were just amazing. The beach is just gorgeous. There is so many pools to choose from for your days activities ..

Barcelo Karmina: Good

One minus no beach!!! and please make sure you advise people who come to visit that resort that leaving towel in the morning (meaning that is your chair and you coming back) do not touch, many people do not know this.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: This resort was absolutley beautiful!

the Barcelo maya Colonial resort in Maya Riviera Mexico was amazing. the service, the food , the weather could not have been better! The tours are spectacular too. We went ziplining and went to the Tulum ruins. It was a great day. We had a traditional mayan lunch and saw some beautiful greenscape. I would really recommend this resort to anyone wanting to go to Mexico. We stayed at the Barcelo Maya Beach resort the last time we went which was equally as nice but on a smaller scale. The Hotel resort was impeccable. The food was very good. Restaurants a la carte not very interesting. The $500 dollars savings at the Resort as offered was not as described, it was only discounts. People are very nice.

Occidental Punta Cana: Amazing resort

This was our fourth year coming to this resort. It has new owners and the rooms and bathrooms have been completely transformed. Everything is very modern and I loved the shower. It had a big shower head like a rain shower and a hand held. Plumbing is great and lots of hot water. We missed the old style rooms but most younger people I'm sure would prefer them. There is wifi in rooms now but of course it isn't free. The house keepers were good and supplied everything we wanted. We were disappointed that the new rule for the alacarts is the men have to have long pants and closed shoes. We thought that was not very fair since women can wear shorts and sandles. The steakhouse alacart was awesome. The service was good in all restaurants but again we always tip. One dollar is really appreciated. We noticed this year that very few people tipped. These servers are very poor and need that little bit!!! The grounds are kept very clean and the workers are constantly busy. We miss the flowered hedges. They took them out for some reason. The weather was great and loved the beach and pools

Allegro Cozumel: Beautiful Resort Don't Go For the Food!!

We stayed at this resort from Jan 16-23rd. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and the weather was fantastic. All the staff were always working very hard everywhere you looked. Fantastic service from Darwin at the Pool bar and keeping us always topped up with fresh drinks. As well Alejandro at the buffet and snack bar, always keeping us smiling and laughing. The beach was nice on a bit of a hill and deep when you go into the water. We enjoyed snorkeling just in this area. The only real complai [... read more]nt we had was that the hotel was not at full capacity but there was ALWAYS a line up at the buffet. The food in the buffet was not up to par for a supposed 4 star resort. I have had better food in Cuba. The A La Carte restaurants that we went to, Italian and Mexican again were not up to par. I left after 1 week thankful to not have to eat anymore food from the buffet. We took our son to swim with the dolphins at Chakanaba and it was fantastic! The park was beautiful and the food that was included at the restaurant with our pass was the best we had all week. The rooms were clean but walls are very thin and you can hear your neighbours easily. We would not return simply because of the buffet, more because every time you went in there were tons of empty tables but always a huge line up. And Food quality was poor.

Occidental Caribe: Great value for the money

this hotel has the best beach front in Punta Cana lots of areas to sit in the sun and shade with plenty of lounges. Pool had a goof vibe and kept everyone happy involved as many as possible. Beautiful resort with lots of activities and live entertainment. Food is terrible, and the bathroom are in very rough shape. Would recommend this resort for anyone in there 20s that wants to party. Take some antibiotics before your travel to avoid getting sick. It's not fun when it happens

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Can't beat the beach and pool area!

Our family (kids aged 6 & 7) travelled to Barceló Maya Colonial between Jan. 13-20, 2017. Overall, we loved the resort and would highly recommend it. First the positives, the beach and pool area were phenomenal. Beautiful white sand and expansive beach since you can walk the length of the 4 Barceló hotels which are side by side. Bring water shoes though if you want to go in the ocean since it can be a rocky entry. There are countless pools so they never feel crowded. The property is kept immac [... read more]ulately clean. Lots of wild life (giant grasshoppers, iguanas) and dolphins on the property, which the kids loved. Our boys also love Pokémon Go and there were a ton of Pokestops and gyms on the property. The kids waterpark was amazing - the one on the Colonial property had fantastic slides and was good for toddlers up to pre-teens. We used the kids club several times and the boys enjoyed going there. Nothing fancy - we wished that they would vary the schedule a bit. We really enjoyed the buffets and a la carte restaurants and thought the food was excellent. Although this is a huge resort and was booked to capacity, we never had trouble getting loungers at the pool or beach, even late morning. Restaurants seemed half empty and service was always very prompt and, for the most part, friendly. Our only complaint was that the room seemed musty and the beds weren't the firmest. We had a garden view, which looked upon some trees, shrubs and other buildings. There are no oceanfront rooms at Colonial. You can get these at Barcelo Palace next door. We tried to upgrade to Club Prime, which we hoped would get us a pool view and better beds but they were sold out. We had a great time travelling with Air Transat - if you have kids make sure you join the Kids Club prior to your trip. There is a dedicated check-in desk, plus your baggage gets tagged so it is removed from the plane first. Overall, a wonderful experience at the Barceló Maya Colonial.

Occidental Arenas Blancas: nice resort.

really good value. rooms were clean . food was satisfactory . we felt safe to travel through town at all times. the beach was beautiful. the grounds of the resort were well maintained. we had been to a 4.5 star resort last year in the Dominican Republic and I found that although, the resort and food weren't as nice, the overall experience at barcelo arenas blancas was better for about $700 less per person.
