Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Fantastic!

This resort is beautiful with a view of the pool and ocean from the lobby bar. The beach is amazing with great snorkeling 20 metres out. We were treated like family by the staff who go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. The food at the a la carte restaurants and the buffet was the best we've had in Cuba. Having travelled to Cuba seven previous times to 3 to 4 star resorts this one comes out on top. We've never been to the same resort twice but would definitely go back to this one!

Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Pleasantly Surprised

I've been wanting to go to this resort for about 8 years but was hesitant because it's rated 3.5 stars and it is Cuba. I regret not booking it sooner...I was very happy with most aspects of the resort...The only thing that makes this resorts rating low is the rooms as they are a little outdated...everything else was more than satisfactory from the beautiful beach, views and surprisingly good food...We have no complaints and would definitely return...Staff were very friendly and room was kept ver [... read more]y clean...no complaints.

Brisas Guardalavaca: most amazing trip ever

This resort was very clean. The staff were very friendly, helpful and accommodating. The food was really good. The A La Carte restaurants were really awesome, the food and entertainment was exceptional. We are definitely returning to this resort.

Sol Turquesa Beach: Amazing Resort and Stay!

Overall, I had a fantastic stay at Memories! The resort was very clean and well kept, the service was fantastic (especially at the bars and buffet) and the pools were incredible and looked like they were out of a magazine. The beach could have been a little longer as I like to walk and this beach was small and had some sea grass, but the sand was super white and the water clear and blue. I would definitely return and I would definitely recommend to friends!

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Best $ price turned into AMAZING RESORT 41/2

Wow ! Not sure where to start as this resort has everything. When we first arrived our thoughts were this resort is so large . But after the first day we go to know the layout and everything was close together . Check in was very smooth and staff very friendly . The lobby offered a bank , internet (Wi-Fi) lots of seating ,bar (very good drinks) , a store and inside stage . The beds are so comfortable and lots of pillows. Well cleaned and fridge stocked daily. We asked for 2 bottles of water and never an issue when asking for anything. The grounds are well kept and beautiful. They have their own little garden on the resort where they grow mint and transplants / shrubs for the resorts use. The resort beach was beautiful lots of shelters , no problems getting a lounger and lots of trees on the beach for shelter too. The trees added beauty to the beach as well. The beach is located in a bay. BUT the only problem with the beach is the bottom has a lot of ref rock. They have sections cleared but I would take water shoes and that would fix the problem. The view from the beach is breath taking. We used the non motorized boats and had fun touring around the bay. Now the FOOD . The best that we had in Cuba . We had the a la carte and the food at them are well worth waiting in line to book. DELIOUS ! The one we enjoyed the most was The Gourmet. The Italian a la cart food was great but the servers was not as friendly. Also when you go to the Italian at lunch time you have to wait to be seated . We seated ourselves and the waiter told us next time to wait to be seated. They should have a sign posted. Also dress code is in effect for the a la carts which I liked.(no shorts)The buffets (2) food was also great lots of choices. The snack bar food was very good as well the fries and club house were our favorites. The pools are very clean. The plus pool is very large and offers different depth levels. The pool has a seating area with jets. There is a baby pool too. The staff at the swim up bar are very friendly . Overall the resort staff are friendly . There is a mall about 10 minute walk from the resort . It offers bowling . We went to an outside disco at the resort and had fun . Entertainment was very limited we watch a fashion show , water show and a kids show . A bit more would have been good .( We may have missed it too. ) Overall we loved the resort from walking the beach , wonderful food , great layout drink and a week of relaxing . We will return and would put this resort on your list to try . We love Cuba for the beaches and the wonderful people . I hope they will never change .

Playa Costa Verde: Amazing Resot

Thi was our 3rd visit to Playa Costa Verde and if far exceeded our expectations considering our first 2 visits were in 2001, and 2002! It was top drawer all the way, people are 2nd to none, resort was beautiful, food was excellent, entertainment was top notch and the grounds were impeccable! I have recommended this resort to our friends!

Brisas Guardalavaca: nice resort

We stayed at this resort from april 29-may 6 2016, it was part of a family vacation and we did not have choice as to where we went. We stayed in the villa section. We have been to Cuba 6 x previous and only ever stayed at a 4.5* +. When I saw that this resort was rated a 3.5* I was very nervous not knowing what to expect, however both myself and my husband were pleasantly surprised. The resort was nice and it would not take much to elevate the star quality. The food is standard Cuba fare.The rooms are run down but clean, furniture old, curtains hanging off the windows, but like I said it is mostly cosmetic issues. Due to the late time of year that we went the villa section closed and as a result some of the services were not available to us, however it is a 3 minute walk to the main hotel. The havana Club rooftop bar is amazing. Drinks around the resort were very good, as was the churro and ice cream huts. The grounds were / are very well kept. The pools nice as was the beach, there was never any issue to get a chair or beach hut. We got a great deal to stay for a week at this resort and for the money it was great, that being said I would not pay more than 900$ but you could definately go for that if you are willing to wait.

Brisas Guardalavaca: What a great hotel,

The food was good all the grounds were clean and bathrooms. The pools where amazing. Could have had more music at pool bars all day. Beach was awesome. All the alicarts were very good. Rooms were always clean. People were all nice and helpful. Roberto the famous pizza man he was the best pizza maker. Fries were great too. All in all a great resort. We will go back next year.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Amazing resort

This resort is amazing, very friendly people, everybody was awesome from check in to check out. We are a family of five with two rooms side by side, rooms were spacious, very clean, everything we needed was right there in the room when we got there, even though we got there around noon, the rooms were already made up and ready for us. The beds were a little uncomfortable but everything else was good, the mini fridge was stocked everyday. Pools are amazing and big and very clean. I would suggest to book the "plus" accommodation since that includes a separate pool and a bar only for people with "plus" band, it was amazing. Food was the best that I have ever seen in Cuba, which included Nutella or peanut butter for the children, excellent buffet and restaurants, they were all amazing food. Beach is wonderful for snorkelling, lots of rocks on one side for your enjoyment of snorkelling, even there is a place for swimming, extremely nice. There is basketball, tennis, pin pon table, table hockey, gym, which is good is you have teenagers. I can literally say that we can't wait to go back.

Brisas Guardalavaca: Once again they treated us like Royalty!

This was my 8th time to this resort.....and they are ALWAYS special! They know us, they help us, this time it was for a wedding that went off without a hitch. Also I lost my son this past year and they did a beautiful painted rock to put in their garden for him! xo

Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Amazing resort and best beach I've been on.

This was my 4th time to this resort. The food was better than the last time there, the restaurants, French and Itilian were amazing. The buffet and beach restaurant were excellent. We were in building 6 on the Luna side. Best building to stay in, close to the beach, pool and bars plus it has an elevator. We prefer the Luna side as it is quieter. As I mentioned in my review title the beach is the nicest beach I've been on and I've travelled to Cuba and Punta Cana many times. There is a lot of spa [... read more]ce and chairs so you do not have to get up at 6 am to reserve a chair in the shade. I highly recommend the resort.

Playa Pesquero: Nice Resort

The food was very good. The staff, very polite and helpful. The pools were lovely and clean. The beach area was nice. I got sick the last day and was bedridden for a week with a stomach virus. I don't know if anything was going around the resort, but I guess it could happen anywhere.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: True Paradise

We loved this resort, everything was perfect, except our check out which is why I gave 4/5 stars. The food was great and the views and ocean were amazing! We spent one day at the spa, which is a splurge but also a must do! It was so beautiful and relaxing. At the spa you have a personal attendant which gets you anything you need! The next day we went horseback riding with the resort (10cuc per person) its a great excursion and really beautiful. As the ranch is very close to the resort we arrange [... read more]d a private ride the next day, which took us up into the town where the locals live and to caves and a beautiful look out. Including tip we were able to haggle it down to 50cuc (for two people). We did some other activities with the resort, like archery. But the most amazing one was the free catamaran tour. Its about 30 minutes, they take you all the way out to the shelf wall, where all the reefs drop off and its just black below. We were able to organize with our sailor to take us back out the next day for snorkeling. It was about an hour and it was spectacular, we were quoted 10cuc for the hour but we tipped him an extra 10cuc. So for two people we paid 20cuc for amazing catamaran snorkeling. This was quite the deal as while we were out there a large paid catamaran tour (about 90cuc each) came out to snorkel at the same reef! We spent a lot of time in the ocean and on horses on our trip and it was all worth it! Food: For coffee in the morning Yudith was AMAZING she always had a smile on and put down what she was doing just to make us our morning coffees, which were just incredible. Lunches we spent at the two al la cartes, the snack bar by the pool, and el patio by the ocean. El patio was beautiful and the food delcious, the snack bar was also very very yummy. For evening although we didnt love the al la cartes the Japanese was really fun and delcious as we were at a tepenyaki table! We loved the dinner buffets and we had a waiter who loved us too! The best food we had while there was room service though! Its 24hours and delicious! Entertainment was mixed some what great and wonderful where other nights were less captivating, but its what you like! Adults only= amazing, private, quiet, and you get to meet other adults and joke around with them! Most people were from Toronto too so it was like being at home but away from home! Never once do you have to not do something because there are kids doing it, its all accessible, a large adult playground! LGBT Friendly. All in all the trip was amazing the resort is beautiful and so relaxed, truly paradise. However our check out was quite confusing, after being locked out of the room an hour earlier than our late check out was scheduled we were notified we would be charged to cover the extra hour. We did not pay for this as we were promised an extra hour for our late check out. However after this happened and everything was sorted we were called to the front desk again. The house keeper reported two missing glasses ( yes the cheap ones they have all over the resort). We were shocked because those glasses had been taken out by house keeping days prior and never were replaced. The desk tried to make us pay to replace these, I went to customer service and one call to the manager of house keeping and the customer service representative told me they apologized for the hassle and that they would take care of it. The manager even said that they would tell the desk to leave us alone. The people involved at the desk and our housekeeper made it feel like they were trying to scam us, especially because the customer service really didint have to do anything to resolve the issue (as there wasnt really an issue at all). All in all an amazing vacation, a shame they left a bitter taste after what was perfection. TIPS: Make your reservations ahead of time for al la cartes by emailing the hotel. Request a second floor corner suite, less bugs, spacious and an extra window. Order room service! they bring you full bottles of wine amazing! Do the included excursions with the resort (and pay extra to do private ones with the same people you meet! Much less than through anyone else!)

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: It was okay

The hotel itself is nice. However, there was a lot of miscommunication with the staff. When we had arrived, we had to pay an extra 50$ to upgrade to tropical because we had booked our trip for a standard room and they were closed when we got there. Also, our first room had bugs in it so we switched rooms. Staff at the front desk were not helpful at all. Any problems we had they would just shrug their shoulders and brush it under the rug. It was very frustrating. We did not visit the main beach o [... read more]ften as there are locals there (which we do not mind at all) but they were very pesky. Demanding clothes, alcoholic beverages etc... and they would not give up until they got what they wanted. Overall, the resort itself was nice but I would not visit again. Nightly entertainment was the same almost every night. Not sure if it is because April isn't a busy time to go or not.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: very nice for the price

Beach was great, everything very good for the price, food was good, excellent view. staff was helpful and the excusions off resort looked interesting.All together we experienced a good time and would return.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Fantastic Resort!

The pool, beach, service, and night shows were all amazing!! We had a blast and all of the staff was super helpful and kind. I would also recommend doing a tour while you are there as you get to do some awesome stuff! I would definitely go back :)

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Great Value..

First, I have been almost around Cuba as I have been there about 15 times so think I can give a very honest review of any resort as I stayed from from in Casa's to many resorts from 2-4+ star there. This was my first to Club Amigo Guardalavaca and was very pleased with what I got for price. Lovely Beach, Clean Rooms, and always ate well as selection was always there for every diet if you look around. If they had it you could get it. Be sure to use Tripcentral and they do a very good job at showing you best deals for all individuals needs.

Brisas Guardalavaca: Nice resort

This hotel is a nice place, the people are friendly. Food was good, room was clean and confortable. The a la carte restaurante were a lot better than the buffet; the entertainmento was also good. I would recommend this resort.

Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Love this place

I always really enjoy my time at the Sol Luna Y Mares and this was my seventh time, my 2 1/2 year old daughters third time and my 4 month old sons first time! The staff are always so nice and they go out of their way to make my time there as enjoyable as it can be with two children. One thing that was disappointing on our last trip was to see that all of the front desk staff had been removed and replaced with different people that were not well trained and couldn't even find our reservation. So  [... read more]after a very long trip down, (4 extra hours ON a plane with two young children because of weather and something about the plane...) for the guy to hold us and everyone else behind us up for 45 minutes because he didn't understand the paperwork that we had, it was quite embarrassing and very frustrating. Plus they already have room keys and little booklets prepared all he had to was look for our names and verify or information that way. Had the original front desk staff been there they would have known immediately who we were and where we were supposed to be. Other than that mishap the rest of our trip was lovely and as relaxing as it can be with the kiddos along.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: We had a great time! Groups larger than 6 beware

The beach is fabulous, and the pools are great. The food was very good, probably one of the best we have had in Cuba. The A La Carts are very good, and the Italian lunch place was amazing. The buffets are just ok. We would strongly encourage the Plus side as you get access to a much better pool, you get 5 A La Cart dinners, and access to the VIP bar, which made incredible drinks. Snorkeling is amazing here. There are virtually no bugs. One issue - we were a group of 9, and this posed some very  [... read more]large problems for the resort when seating us for dinner. They refused to seat at any of the A La Cart's a table of 9. We argued, and argued, but they would not re-consider. When we arrived to our table of 5 and 4 each night, there was barely anyone else in the restaurant, and still then they refused to move the two tables together - very disappointed with this - terrible customer service. Especially since we were there to celebrate a birthday, and couldn't even sit together. This would also be a problem if you have a family larger than 6 people (the most they will sit together). Unacceptable, and this rule needs to be revisited.
