Vista Sol Punta Cana: Would love to go back!

Just returned home Feb 9 after one week stay. The pros, great staff, friendly people. The food was very good in the buffet, some repetitive. Drinks were good and plentiful. Free wifi in the hotel lobby and out by the main pool. Check in was quick. Also the ala cartes were very good and included in your price. They weren’t sticklers for men’s attire. The pools are clean, 1 large busy loud games etc, the other 2 smaller and quiet. The grounds are lush and immaculate. There are peacocks and ducks w [... read more]alking around. There is a bird sanctuary and a large iquana pen. We saw one show and it was very good. The washrooms all over the resort are very clean. The resort is very compact and laid out close together. There is a store, cigar store. A casino is coming apparently. The weather is lovely, we did have some rain but at night there was no humidity or mosquitoes! The cons, the rooms were clean but outdated especially the furniture. Our room had a musty smell that never went away. The beds and pillows are awful. The main pool , everyone gets up early and puts their towels on the chairs even though there are signs saying no reserving chairs. The beach is not very big because it’s been eroded from storms. The chairs are up from the beach and it’s ridiculously crowded on top of one another, not enough chairs. It’s not a quiet relaxing atmosphere at all. This hotel has the worst beach , you can walk either way and the beaches are wide and less crowded. This is the first vacation I’ve spent at a pool, a lot disappointed. The water was always rough with strong undertows, no seaweed. I’m attributing the long lineups for buffet, drinks and chairs possibly because of the time of year. I believe it was reading week and I’ve never travelled in February. We will go again maybe Oct/Nov to see if it’s different.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Great resort

This hotel exceeded our expectations. Lots of food and variety at the buffets. We ate at the Italian and Japanese a lacarte restaurants they were both amazing. Top shelf liquor at the bars, all the staff were so happy and friendly. The grounds are beautiful and well kept. The beach is clean and taken care of. Lots of lounge chairs both on the beach and at the pool.

HM Alma De Bayahibe Hotel: Nice Resort

Beds were hard, it was like sleeping on a box spring, pillows were very uncomfortable. No tissues in the bathrooms. No chair to sit on in the room other than the desk chair. Food: Very repetitive, other than the small section of theme food nightly. They charge extra to what they call top shelf alcohol Very big language barrier with all the staff, unless you know Spanish, no english spoken

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Outstanding as always!!!

Iberostar Costa Dorada gives you everything you want for a sunny getaway. The staff is amazing, the grounds are beautiful, the food is excellent. The pool is large with tons of room for everyone of every age. There is shallow areas for small kids and weak swimmers. Stairs and handrails for the elderly or unstable. The water is clean and the staff are always clearing and cleaning any debris from the trees or the guests. The beach is beautiful and the staff work hard to keep the seaweed clear. It  [... read more]is not always clear but the resort can't control mother nature. The food is amazing. The main buffet has something for everyone. The three restaurants are excellent and entertaining. Sakura is a delicious meal and an amazing show. Overall the only low point of the resort is the vendors they have come in. They are pushy and rude. If you say no thank you they will just keep asking even as you walk away. Some have even been aggressive when you refuse to look. But that is also not in the control of the resort. We have been to many different resorts in the DR and we love this one and keep coming back. The resort is also starting to update and upgrade the rooms to make it even more welcoming. WE LOVE THIS RESORT AND CAN'T WAIT TO COME BACK!!!!!!!!!

Excellence El Carmen: Amazing resort

Grounds were beautiful, food was amazing, staff were exceptional. Only wish the swim outs and the hot tubs near the swim outs were a bit warmer so we could have enjoyed our swim out more. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Easy check in and check out. Hotel was very accommodating to our requests

The beach at this resort is beyond compare with any other resort we have been to.Some of the A LA Carte restaurants are below standard.The buffet food needs to be warmer even the coffee needs warming.

Dreams Cap Cana Resort and Spa: Wonderful Vacation

We loved everything about this resort. Everything was so amazing from check in to check out. The food, pools, bars and entertainment were great. Definitely going back! If you are looking to spend time in the ocean you need to walk about 5 min down the beach, but that did not matter to us. We were on vacation.

Dreams Flora Resort and Spa: Lovely getaway

Tropical grounds. Good food and drinks beautiful beach. We enjoyed our 5 day get away as a couple. Would definitely come back and bring the kids. Don’t pass up going to the seaside grill, fantastic steaks!

Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: Grand El Portillo Samana

Excellent staff. Beach is awesome . Food is good. Beach bbq awesome . Some restaurants could have improvements. ( fish market) Italian restaurant is a definetly a five star, Alcohol drinks need definite improvement . More selections such as premium alcohol. Ground keeping immaculate. Rooms very clean . Some a little outdated though . Definite would recommend this hotel

Zel Punta Cana - All Suites: A very comfortable resort for a family

We were part of a three-generation family holiday. The resort was great. The facilities were very clean and well maintained. The rooms were large and comfortable. The grounds are a delight. The strongest aspect of the resort is the staff. They were efficient, helpful, very friendly and often doted on the young children. The only weak part was the food. Riu Republica: Great holiday

The Republica exceeded our expectations. Food was good , alcohol was decent if you asked for the better stuff they gave it to you. The staff very good. Resort super clean the rooms a little dated but clean and comfortable. Anything you asked for they delivered. Beach was great and never an issue to get chairs. Fun place too!

Grand Sirenis Punta Cana Resort: Meh

We don’t travel a lot so keep that in mind. The resort grounds were lovely. The customer service and cleanliness could use improvement. The water park entertained the kids but would not be up to Canadian safety standards. Tuck in your elbows or bring a load of bandaids. The slides are like sandpaper. If you require help in your room, be prepared to call many times. Our credit card was also stolen and used. The beach was lovely, although quite a few cigarette butts in the sand. The kids loved the [... read more] waves. It felt safe in the water and we saw a school of beautiful fish. A la carte restaurants were tasty and you could book as many as you want. We avoided the high pressure sale presentation for time share as we were warned in advance. They’ll call repeatedly asking how your stay is and how they can make it better. They won’t take action on your requests and only attempt to lure you to the sales meeting. Would I go back? No, but my kids loved it, great family time was had and we didn’t break the bank.

With Iberostar you always know what you'll get. Same layout, mostly same fitures. Costa Dorada is an older resourt, but it's in very good shape. Food and service are good. Rooms are comforable and clean. We asked for delayed check out and got it for $10/hour. Beats seating in the lobby for many hours. Airport transfer could be more comfortable.

Playabachata Hotel: Will NOT Return

Internet is not available outside the lobby and very poor in the lobby. Room towels are picked up from rooms at 9 AM and no towels in rooms until 5 PM Room A/C - you could NOT adjust the temperature. It had to be turned off at night and windows opened. Beach chairs are limited unless you get up at 7 AM to reserve them either at the pool or beach. A la carte restaurants are limited to 2 and when we arrived on Tuesday all were booked for 1 week. If you like bar service by the pool or bea [... read more]ch there is none. Our room patio door or screen door did not slide easily but other rooms may be ok. The maid did a great job. My grade of buffet food and service would be a 4 out of 10. The grass and grounds were well maintained though out the hotel.

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Great Get-Away!

This Hotel was a wonderful choice!. This vacation being a little pricy it didn't disappoint. The people here were very accommodating, they could never do enough for you!..as for the hotel itself, the grounds were well kept, the whole resort was pretty much spotless, they were always cleaning, painting, polishing the brass fixtures......etc., always ? smiling. Food was good...we didn't do the "a la carte" restaurants, as we prefer the "buffet". We did hear that people were enjoying them, but they found it difficult to book them. Their website/ app for here needs improvement. Wifi was included, and worked rather well!. The beach is beautiful, soft sands, warm water, lots of seating with or without covering. Sadly, it is suffering increased erosion and becoming unsafe in spots, they have it marked and working on a solution. The pool was nice and quite large, kept very clean, loud at times but still fun!. YES, people still put their towels out early to have the best area. YES,,even though it is frowned apon.... We are definitely happy with our choice to stay at Bahai Principe Luxury Ambar. We recommend this resort and will return again someday!

Nice resort although a bit lbig. Easy checkin and good service. lRoom was ocoean view through palm trees, very nice.Modern bathroom wioth glass shower. Lots of hot water. TOwels change every day. Were in the elite section so had owen resteraunt with good food and good bar. Lots of beach chairs at all pools althjough some people saved them for no reason learlyh inthe morning. Melia Caribe Beach Resort: Good rooms, bad food, poor entertainment

We loved our room setup with having 2 kids. We had the family bunk bed room near the beach and pool. They did forget to make the beds some days or replace towels but otherwise they were spacious! The food was repetitive and cold. After day 4 I was looking forward to getting home to real food. The lack of entertainment in organized activity for kids lacked. Other a la carts were not great. Enough transportation carts to the lobby. Front lobby as not helpful with information for reservations, flight transportation or access to information.

Playabachata Hotel: It was very clean!!

Honest review. Very clean. Room: no hot water all week, no water pressure in shower. Beach:beautiful but not enough chairs to sit on at beach or pool (they really need a system so greedy folks are not saving chairs at both - which we have seen). One day we sat on towels in sand (seniors). Came home with diarrhea (hubby still suffering after a week from onset).

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Great value for your money!

The food was great, the bed was firm and comfortable and what I loved most was that there were always plenty of chairs at the pool and lots of chairs with an abundance of shade on the beach. If you wanted sun you could sit in the sun but there was always shade. The wings were awesome at the restaurant on the beach as well.

I have been to this resort before and found it an ok resort. I would give it about a 3 star rating. The food was good but by day 5 we were done with the same food options. This trip the resort was very busy and you had to save your chairs by the pool by 630 and stay with the chair until at least 7 or the security would remove your towels and belongings. On weekends the local people occupied the whole resort and we found them at the best of times very rude. Doing the enter and exit into the  [... read more]country was also a pain. We did the forms prior to leaving and the form was accepted in Hamilton but not in DR so therefore had to redo before departure that was a challenge as they wanted done on their computers which they only had 5 and were all busy. It is about an hour to the air port stopping on the way to pick up other visitors from different resorts. I would recommend to stay at the senator next store you can usually get an elicart at the bachata we could not get any as they were always booked even standing in line for hours trying to book. Also our room was not cleaned everyday and the phone connection to friends room did not work. We would tell at front desk and they said they would talk to cleaning staff the next day cleaned then the next day was not. bonnie kesimaat
