This hotel is big and I don’t believe they are equipped to accommodate the number of people they can house.
From the time we got there there were issues with stock. They continually ran out of beer, ice, vodka, orange juice. The beer was often warm and they had no draft at anytime. The first day we went for breakfast they had no bread. It was hard to get fresh towels in your room and I heard of some people that couldn’t get towels at alll. We managed to get pool towels the first day but the[... read more]re were none available again until the day we were leaving.
We were originally housed in building 9 but the continuous smell of sewage outside was over powering. We were moved to building 26 after 2 days where we had no shower curtain. When we brought it up at the front desk they simply said “we don’t have anyâ€. The irrigation system leaked outside our building contributing to the mosquito population and many people, including myself, got covered in bites. Toilets in both rooms ran continuously and didn’t flush properly.
We were on the beach one day had one drink from the satellite bar went to get another and were told they were out of ice and beer so they were closing. This was at 1:00 in the afternoon!
We were unable to make any reservations for al carte because everything was full except Cuban which I heard wasn’t very good. The line ups took forever to book as well.
On the day we were leaving, February 25, I went to the luggage room to get something out of my bag there was a woman on the floor with all her luggage open crying because she thought she had lost her passport. There was a bellboy standing over her. She eventually found it and this guy freaked out on her for wasting his time I guess? The same bellboy about a hour later was making sexual advances towards my friend when she was inquiring about taking a shower. Asked her “if she needed any help in the showerâ€
This hotel has the potential to be a nice hotel and has a beautiful beach but is very poorly managed.

Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo: Great Resort and Great Staff Muthu IMPERIAL
We had actually booked the Grand Muthu but were bumped over to the new Muthu right next door....Imperial Muthu. This is an adults only resort that is brand spanking new. We arrived at 1 PM and our rooms were already ready.
Service was of course quite exemplary given the limited guests at the resort. We got the rooms we had asked for which were quite modern looking. Giant glass shower with rain head and body nozzle. It leaked a bit around the base but there was tons of hot water... almost[... read more] too hot. Maid staff was great and fast. No issues with service at the espresso bar or any bar for that matter.
Particularly great for me was the Cigar Lounge .. where you could actually buy a cigar and smoke. Full bar with coffee or expresso . Limited selection of cigars but I had bought some from the Grand Muthu which was a one minute walk away. Bell staff would drive you if you asked.
The cigar lounge and sports bar were right beside a great courtyard where you could enjoy an afternoon puff or coffee away from the winds.
Food is pretty typical of Cuba but with the resort fairly empty we got our food for breakfast, lunch or dinner very quickly. Of course the staff in the buffet was amazing as usual in Cuba. No issues with the food either at the snack bar of the buffet. Drinks were great as is typical of Cuba.
As a new resort, they had not fully completed the beach with newer soft sand. It was pretty gritty sand and the walk into the water was a bit rocky although other Beach positive guests just used water shoes. Lots of chairs and shade.
Pools were all fantastic although the palm trees were still a bit immature so limited shade from trees. They supplied large beds and some umbrellas and lots of Pergolas. No need to save your pool chairs in this place. Water was clean and pool was very well kept.
Entertainment was pretty impressive with several different types of entertainment. None of the schmaltzy Michael Jackson stuff. Some fantastic vocalists both in the Theatre and in the Lobby. One group was very impressive. Grupo Perspectiva which played traditional Cuba that made everyone want to dance. Fantastic group.
I met quite a few people who were there for TWO WEEKS. They hated to leave.
It was a tranquil and relaxing place that should please most people.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Beautiful beach but be ready to hear “no we don’t have that†all week
This resort like all others has good and bad features. The most amazing thing was the beach. You can walk for miles on white sand beaches in either direction with amazing views. Second to this is the pool area which is equally as nice and very clean. The resort overall was nice and clean and the rooms were modern.
Now for the negative. Meals were the worst part of everyday of our stay. The food is horrible. There is no selection. They run out of food as soon as the doors open. None of the food[... read more] is labelled so you have no idea what you are eating and the line ups to get the food are very long. The dinning areas are also very understaffed. If you got to the dinning room even a half hour after it opened the tables would not be cleaned off, have fresh cutlery, and you weren’t able to get drinks with your meal. The snack bars are equally as bad when you sit down and order the staff point to 2 items on the 15 item menu and say that is all they have for today and by midway through the lunch service this choice would be further reduced. Fortunately the a la cartes were much better and the service was fast.
As we read in previous reviews to bring our own towels we did and this was a life saver for the week as every morning we watched atleast 30 people ask for towels to be told they didn’t have any and would need to come back later.
Overall if food is not important to you this resort is good if you can get it for $1000/person or less.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Nice resort
Overall the resort was nice. Very beautiful beach and pools. The bars and the night entertainment were good. But the food was absolutely terrible, I dreaded going to eat every meal. I was warned the food wouldn't be great but I honestly didn't think it would be that bad. I still feel sick when I think about the food.
I had a couple problems with my room that I told the front desk about but were NOT fixed i.e the door to my room not locking ever and the phone in my room not working.
Other than[... read more] those things it was a vey nice resort I enjoyed everything else about it.

Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo: Great new resort
2 couples in their 60’s from Feb 12-22/19. Imperial opened only 3 weeks prior to arrival. So beautiful. Some confusion as to keeping 4 of us together quickly rectified. My biggest negative would be the concrete ‘lips’ or step-ups outside dining/bar areas on walkways which my husband experienced (trip hazard). Our biggest positive has to be the staff!! 100 % each and every one! Also, can’t forget to mention our dear new friend Jose- seen working tirelessly in lobby, buffet, cigar bar and e[... read more]lsewhere cheerfully (and seemingly tirelessly) (:
Room- beautiful with mucho shower amenities and daily stocked fridge. Loved housekeeper Restyysohe who did an amazing job+.(bring sm. Coffeemate) Safe battery problem fixed quickly with call to front desk. Great a/c and hot rain shower.
Restaurants-A la cartes not quite sorted out but did 2 Internationals & 1 Seafood- very good. Mexican & Chinese coming soon as well as Beach Ranchon. Breakfast buffet was excellent and there were daily changes to lunch & dinner selections (including both hot & cold lobster one evening). Again, wonderful service. Egg/omelette station was the best (thanks Rigoberto) in morning and delicious premade strawberry smoothies!
Pools/grounds- 3 lovely terraced pools (2 infinity and one edge of activity area) kept very clean. Lounge mattress & umbrellas brought as you set up. (Davies(.: Beach bar (Jennifer & Maceo) and pool service (Youndreys) was over the top prompt & fun. Grounds pretty lush, thanks to gardeners in spite of storms and being new build.
Entertainment/activity-daytime music typical-off & on. 10 am stretching was amazing overlooking the Caribbean. Also, Zumba, lazy games, Spanish dance & language, bingo, pool volleyball & aerobics. Do or don’t but I sure had fun with them all. After their shift at the pool you will see many working at the theatre pm’s. Miss these people already. We really enjoyed the lobby pre-dinner too- singers, xylophone, piano (maybe too mellow for younger crowd-try next door).Nightly shows after dinner very good but sadly one I found distasteful involved a suicidal ‘zombie’ & noticed several people walk out on that one. One night we got an incredible ‘Rock Show’. (believe the dancers had a well-deserved night off).
Lobby/reception- always quick & courteous with great banking. Please visit when they’re not ck’ing In/out people and understand single pesos are limited (as in all ofCuba)at 1 time. 2 other very worthwhile bars near the lobby are Cigar Bar (William) for great cigar & premium beverage or Sports Bar (Vereena) for pool table or foosball. Lots of fun!!
Beach- directly in front of resort is coral- no big deal. Wear shoes (I just had on flip flops) and go to left for quiet cove beach or head right past G. Muthu & crowd (not that far) to find spectacular sandbar, turquoise walking beach -HEAVEN for miles.
We, all 4, loved this resort and can’t wait to return.

Hotel Playa Paraiso: Good resort!
For a 4.5 star hotel in Cuba, we definitely enjoyed our stay.
Room: We were promised an ocean view, however, we only got a glimpse of the ocean. Nonetheless, the room was kept tidy, and was at all times presentable. House cleaning was daily, fresh towels and a beautiful bed centrepiece was always there! We had some issues with smaller bugs, but for the duration of our trip, these bugs were limited.
Food: The food was decent. Our only complaint was the lack of vegetarian/chicken options a[... read more]s plenty of the foods were pork.
The time slots for breakfast, lunch and dinner were very narrow, as sometimes we found ourselves missing meals and having to go to the snack bar.
Overall, the quality of food was great! We especially enjoyed the a La Carte Portuguese restaurant and the drinks were amazing!
Beach / Pool: The beach and pool were both kept very tidy. We absolutely loved how it was both big and not crowded! Very presentable.
Staff: The staff were our personal favourite of the trip. All the employees were welcoming, loving, and friendly. We enjoyed the service they provided, and how lovely and caring they all were towards us.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: We love Cuba!!
The refurbished parts of the resort are lovely but the ones that are not are seriously in need! Be warned! We requested a move and were accommodated but I would not have been happy to spend a week in the unrenovated sections!! The grounds are meticulously maintained and the Cuban people could not be more attentive! They are lovely! The beach is why we go to Cuba! Amazing! The food is okay....nothing special but adequate and the service was as always wonderful and friendly!

Hotel Playa Coco: Improvement Needed
We originally arrived off the bus at about 11:00 pm. I was impressed with the lobby and the service. Then we were taken to the room and there was a horrible smell, and it looked like the room was not cleaned. There was no pillows or blankets, and the toilet did not flush and everything was sticky. We then went down to the front desk and the lady there said there was nothing she could do. The next day we got a new room which was better. there was still a gross smell. The service was okay, however[... read more] they are very friendly but slow. Most of the workers spoke little English and at the restaurants there was no menus.

Hotel Playa Paraiso: Great resort
This hotel has a huge lobby with many seats available and 2 lobby bars. It led in to the area which had seating for the nightly entertainment which was great. We were able to exchange Canadian money to convertible pesos at the front desk 24 hours a day.
The rooms were spacious and clean. No water or hydro problems. The food was good although very repetitious, fish, pork and chicken at lunch and dinner.. The a la cartes were much better, Italian, Cuban and Portugese also Indian. Staff very fri[... read more]endly and would go out of their way to fill your requests. Pool was like walking from the beach into the ocean, shallow then gradually deeper. The beach was the best we have been to in Cuba, white sand and walk for miles. All in all a great resort. Ask your agent about upgrades. Ours did not make us aware of them. ( too late when we arrived)
From the moment we registered at the front desk at Memories Flamenco, we had a wonderful vacation. The gardens are beautiful, the drinks are endless, and last but not least, the people give their all to make your stay a memorable one. Anyone can find fault if they look deep enough but that is not the purpose of our vacation. We focus on relaxing, letting go of the stress of the business world and this is a perfect place to do so.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Amazing Staff and Vacation Spot
Grounds maintained, public areas kept clean, food was good, stir fry, pasta and omelette stations were very good. Buffet kept clean. Room was clean (although my first room in bldg 10 was very smelly and my allergies reacted before I unlocked the door; after multiple complaints we hid a room change). Yes there were lots of sand fleas. Remember to bring bug spray and hydrocortisone cream. The entertainment staff was by far the best we’ve seen. Went with a group of 14. Entertainers are all engagi[... read more]ng and accommodating. They knew our names by the second day and made sure we didn’t miss an activity. So many activities we did not have the opportunity to be bored. Weather was perfect. Played bocce ball on the beach, darts and shuffleboard by the pool, water aerobics, volleyball and other games. Fresh churros by the pool, ice cream in beans restaurant. Cappuccino in the piano bar. Pizza and fresh grilled sandwiches, handmade chips. Karaoke most nights before the entertainment. Fresh aloe available if you ask the gardener. Definitely going back next year with more people. Love goes out to Michel, Lazara, Ricky, Zoe, Ely, Luis, Dulian, Daniela, David and all the bartenders that made our stay enjoyable. Gracias. ...until we meet again.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Great resort with fun staff!
Nice beach, clean pool, friendly staff, good food, lots of activities available! Lots of excursions available as well.
A la carte restaurants are not as good as buffet meals. Room did not have hot water and staff couldn't fix it during our stay. Public washrooms smelled badly.
It was sunny and warm every day, but it's windy all the time. Difficult for snorkelling or activities on the beach (volleyball, frisbee, etc.). A kiteboarding school is a 2 min walk down the beach. Most areas in the wate[... read more]r the bottom was covered in seaweed.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Loved our stay!
The resort was amazing and had a lot of fun things to do if you want to stay on the resort for your trip. The staff was super friendly and very welcoming. Rooms were always nice and clean. I was especially impressed with the availability of the non-motorized water sports (eg. we went for a free half hour sail in a hobie of the resort beach!). The staff on the beach would also bring you chairs as soon as they saw you arrive which was lovely. I would recommend bringing a water bottle or travel mug[... read more] for drinks since they use small plastic cups which need to be refilled frequently. Overall a great stay.

Tryp Cayo Coco: Better than expected
It's Cuba so expectations were low, but we were pleasantly surprised. It's clean, though the plumbing causes some occasional smells. Friendly staff. Fantastic beach. Cabana grill great place for lunch
