Barcelo Karmina: Absolutely Amazing!

We stayed at the Barcelò Karmina from January 13th to the 20th. My parents had previously stayed there and highly recommended it. We will forever be grateful that they did. The property is absolutely STUNNING, and it is kept in pristine condition. Our room was so spacious, well-appointed, and comfortable. Kudos to the housekeeping staff who meticulously kept our living space so lovely. We LOVED the food at the buffet restaurant. The only problem we experienced was overeating at each meal [... read more] ;) Our dining experience at the Mexican à la carte restaurant (Agave) was one of the many highlights of our trip. If you go, DO NOT MISS this incredible experience! We also really enjoyed the beach bar every day, which was consistently overflowing with delicious treats. The pool area was our favourite of any resort we have visited. Again, it is so beautifully maintained and designed. The beach at Karmina is very small, which might be a deterrent for those who love an expansive stretch of sand and surf. We really loved it, however, as the water was warm and perfect for snorkelling. We really enjoyed the nightly entertainment, and the performers were so charismatic and engaging. The dancers were superb, and the male singer featured on most nights was SUPERB - what a talent! Our 16-year-old son loved playing beach soccer and volleyball each day, and we all enjoyed kayaking around the bay. Our very favourite thing about the Barcelò Karmina was the staff. Every single employee was friendly, hardworking, kind, generous, patient, and professional. I think we fell in love with every single one of them. They worked tirelessly and genuinely appeared to love and value their jobs. We will forever treasure them for making our holiday so perfect. Thank you, Barcelò Karmina! WE LOVE YOU AND CANNOT WAIT TO RETURN!!! P.S. There is no free wifi, which seemed to upset some people. I work exclusively online and was beyond grateful to disconnect for a week, so it didn't bother me.

Barcelo Karmina: super resort

Grounds, food and rooms excellent, in need of hand rails at ALL steps in rooms and grounds as few accidents while there, saw only one wheel chair ramp to pools, beach very clean, staff very helpful at all locations especially buffet. Had great wèek

Occidental Papagayo: Excellent resort in a beautiful country!

Everything was fantastic! Food was great at all areas! Selection at buffet wasn't great but all good! The grounds were well kept up! Nice to see monkeys iguanas and birds of all kinds! When tide was low the beach was great to walk and explore! The staff in all areas were great! There were language barriers. The entertainment they had was good! More would have been great! Occidental Caribe: Nice hotel

Very nice/clean/friendly! Food was good. Drinks good (however they don't have o.j. just tang??) so hope you don't want a screwdriver. Evening shows were sub par. Confusion with the staff getting us there. They took us to the wrong hotel and didn't know where our's was. Found out that it also happened to several other people. Overall I would give it an 8/10 for value.

Barcelo Bavaro Beach: Fine hotel and beach

Very clean and orderly. Adults only environment so party hardy is not outrageous, but good clean fun. Food very good. Alcohol includes popular brands such as Johnny walker, etc. Staff very polite and helpful. Beach well kept, and no harassment by beach vendors.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Fantastic resort!

Very clean and well kept resort. Staff is very friendly and all are ready to help. Food was fantastic and we were there for a wedding and everything went smooth. The only complaint was the check in/out was very slow.

Barcelo Bavaro Beach: beautiful resort, but....

The first night we were locked out of our room because of "faulty card keys". At bedtime I was left standing in the hall for a good ten minutes while my son returned to the lobby yet again so we could gain access to our room. The next day we were locked out again in the morning and again in the afternoon. The mini fridge had only pop and beer no alcohol. The shower was horrendous, that huge shower head fell off every time we showered, hitting me and also my son on the top of the foot [... read more]. We decided to use one of the drawers and found two syringes inside!!!!! One day instead of being taken by the "train" directly to our room we were chauffeured around the grounds and I must say I was stunned. The grounds etc were absolutely beautiful. The kids area with the swimming pool and large water animals looked great. I was amazed at how large and gorgeous the property actually was. We were compensated with two half bottles of Barcelo Bavaro rum and a plate of chocolate which were very nice and totally not expected. So yes, I would recommend Barcelo on the given that all the above problems were resolved.

Occidental Punta Cana: Has Potential

This resort is still in need and presently getting upgraded but are experience was very satisfactory even after a shaky start to our vacation (leaky room, no TV, no beer in fridge) but we moved rooms within the hour and were happy with everything after that. Food was good, service was excellent (resort was not too busy though), maybe could have had more on-site activities going on during the day on the beach and around the pools, night time music/shows were very good. Occidental Cozumel: Need work and better management should be able to help. Food is a whole different ball game.

Grounds, lovely, evening entertainment, none really. Bar with cappuccino machine for morning coffee not open until 11:00am...UGH Fridge in room needs to be filled with a bit more than 3 water and 3 beer...REALLY. We are not children. Many employees, not all, are not in holiday mode and if nothing else should smile. Reserving tables... when we are the first to arrive at a booked restaurant and are told a table is reserved and we can't have it, reserved, really...that is bulls..t. Barcelo Bavaro Palace: Over charged

although we experencied a great time. We were overcharged. My partner has been to the Barcelo twice before (her parents have been there 13 times and are traveling back for the 14th in February). This made it easy to decide where to spend our vacation. When we talked to the agent - we specifically asked for a certain area of the resort due to being their previously. He booked our room and ensured us all was fine. We called several days prior to leaving to double check all was good. Left a messag [... read more]e and did not receive a call back. Upon arrival we found that we were located in a completely different area of the resort (not even close to where we requested). The front desk at the resort was not heplful, we had to call tripcentral to get it sorted out. We called our agent, not there, talked to a "generic" person, who informed us they were unable to do anything about it at that time. Out of frustration we paid the extra funds to get the location we origionally requested. To this date, nothing has been done to rectify the matter. Besides that the experice was outstanding.

Occidental Cozumel: Fantastic!

Beautiful resort with very lush, manicured vegetation. The secluded Mexican Hacienda style buildings and layout leave the impression of a more upscale, quiet hotel (in comparison to multiple all-inclusive resorts we have visited in the past). We enjoyed the nice sandy beach, watching sunsets from the wooden pier, dancing in the courtyard under the stars to a live band as well as a huge variety of food and drinks. Allegro Cozumel: Divers Paradise

This was an amazing trip starting off by a nicely renovated from top to bottom complex . The grounds were clean and nicely manicured and rooms were very comfortable . Tried all the restaurants all had very polite and hard working staff with good selections to choose from . I purchased the Ultimate divers package which i my mind was well worth the added cost from private concierge named Hector who made or week a pleasure to the private relaxing center with premium bar and food when the other re [... read more]staurants were in transition and dive benifits for the week with a great dive center on site with great instructors to show you all the amazing wild life and coral structures this great reef area has to offer . This getaway is rated 4 star but with a few minor tweaks will be a 5 i will definitely be going back again soon .

Occidental Costa Cancun: ok hotel

We enjoyed this hotel, staff was very friendly. BUT if your a group larger than 6 people it was HELL to make dinner reservations which you had to do every morning. It was so bad we had to ask for the hotel manager to help make our dinner reservations for 9 people. This part almost ruined it for us . It was beyond frustrating. So my advise is your family if larger than 6 don't go

Barcelo Maya Palace: Amazing Trip and Hotel!

Barcelo Maya Palace was a beautiful clean resort. We loved the beach and pool. The staff was great especially the entertainment team (Julio, Emanuel, Carlos..). The food was excellent and we would come back for more fun in the sun!

Barcelo Karmina: Just as good the second time!

Stayed at Barcelo Karmina in Manzanillo Jan 6-13/2017. We upgraded to oceanview and it truly lived up to it's name. We were in the Santiago tower room 5209 and we could see beautiful sun rises and the lights of the city in the evening. Room is large with a step down to the living area. The bathroom is huge with two vanities apart from each other. Fridge was stalked daily with drinks and snacks. The buffet is amazing and we really enjoyed the 3 a la carte restaurants. Small beach and many pools t [... read more]o choose from. We spent half our week at the beach and the rest of the time at the adult only pool. Do not pay for the Premium Level. It is a waste of money. The bus that took us to the airport did not having functioning AC so it made for an uncomfortable ride. Beware the airport is very poor....only 2 vending machines that only take pesos. No restaurant or TV to watch...absolutley nothing to do for 3-4 hours!

Occidental Costa Cancun: Nice resort

The only issue I had with this resort was making dinner reservations for a group of 9. We are a family of 9 who enjoy to eat dinner together, especially dinner. This was a big deal and couldn't accommodate us, they wanted us to eat at different times! We had to get the hotel manager involved to get help. Based on how stressful it was to eat together we will not return. If you are a group smaller than 8 then this is a great resort. Food is good, drinks are good and service is great. Don't  [... read more]book a standard room, there is a balcony but not wide enough for a chair!! We were able to pay to upgrade our rooms to larger rooms with balconies.

Occidental Cozumel: Very nice resort

The grounds, gardens, beach was very nice Weekends no entertainment Disco was lame Pool table fun, staff were all excellent - friendly and helpful During the week very good entertainment with dancing shows and singing No swim up bar but the bar was right beside the pool - accessible and convenient. Good drinks. Occidental Cozumel: Lush and beautiful!

If our room wasn't exquisite enough, getting to it was amazing. All paths run amid lush tropical trees, palms and shrubs, very well maintained. The room was gorgeous with marble floors and counters, rain showerhead, comfortable bed and wonderful balcony! The pool is right beside the beach so you could relax or be part of the activities. Plenty of sunshine activities! Volleyball in and out of the pool, tennis, aquagym, snorkelling, scuba training, kayaking, many more, all free. The only thing th [... read more]at worried me was what to do if it rained a few days? There was a spa, gym and billiards but that only lasts so long. In any case we didn't need to worry; we had 6 out of 7 gorgeous days. Oh ya, and the resort is one of very few that has a sandy beach on crystal blue waters... the others around us were rocky. The buffets were delectable, and the restaurants superb. I had a fabulous week!

Barcelo Gran Faro Los Cabos: Very good hotel, with no complaints!

The hotel was really good. Food on the resort was excellent. Every night we ate at the buffet that had something different to look forward to and then talk about later. Pools were clean and not at all packed during the days, and there were activities going on each day. The hosts were very including as well. The price was very reasonable as well. My only complaint, was that the hot tub was not hot enough at night time. But by no means is that a deal breaker.
