Riu Palace Cabo San Lucas: Very good

Spotless mind very clean They need better animation The beach every morning is ocupat whit the local trying to celling everything never stop and bring horses for rent and after so many our the horses sheet The beach can be better is nice to seeing but no usually.

Riu Guanacaste: Great holiday!

The hotel was beautiful. The staff was amazing. Food was good and there was lot’s of it. The daily activities were very loud - announcers and bands had amplifiers turned up to the max. We had a problems with our first room. We were given a new room for the second week.

Riu Palace Pacifico: Positive Vacation

We enjoyed a week at an excellent all-inclusive Resort on one of the greatest beaches in the world. We received the expected Riu Palace excellent accommodation and service for which a Riu Palace is noted. The grounds were immaculately kept. The restaurants give superb service with a quality menu. We had one minor problem in the "Steak" restuarant. The New York steaks were 50% fat / gristle, and the residual meat was tough. (1) With only 2 public restrooms on site (one in lobby and one by pool), more are needed. (2) pool seating is self-reserved and not monitored. 75-minutes before sun-up, all best sunny-location seats are "reserved", even though they may be unoccupied for much of the best part of the day. Overall, we travel a lot and are Riu Gold-Cardholders, and feel we got very fair value for our vacation $

Riu Playa Blanca: Decent value for $

The price point of this hotel is on par. Groundskeeping etc is great. Beds are comfortable. Rooms are basic and comfortable. We were on the first floor and had no issues with plumbing. Food was okay. Lots of options at the buffet.

Riu Republica: Not a 5 Star!

We found this resort to be too big, too crowded and very noisy. Generally a younger crowd that liked to party 24/7. The resort itself is well maintained and only a few years old. Food was generally poor and the so-called specialty restaurants were mainly buffets which specialized food dishes. The beach is great with miles of soft sand however, during our 10 day stay there were rough seas virtually every day. With a few exceptions, the staff was not that engaging with the guests. Riu Palace Costa Rica: Amazing Resort!

Definitely an A+ resort. Service, food, rooms and pools are all superb. The entertainment was great as well, very talented dancers. Wide selection of food, no one goes without something. The buffet has a tremendous selection and you never get tired of it. Removing the reservation requirements at the restaurants was a great bonus, no more being disappointed or not getting in to a spot. The beach was okay, no white sand. Lots of excursions to choose from.

Riu Montego Bay: Nice beach &pool area

Overall in good condition, but lack of room service and drink servers turned it into a self serve vacation. Poor weather meant a lot of time spent in lobby and restaurant/bar areas. Bartenders are friendly and quick to serve. Pool and beach had plenty of lounges so early “staking claim” to spots wasn’t necessary.

Riu Bambu: Good overall

We have been to Riu Bambu Punta Cana from Dec. 21st to Dec 28th, 2017. Overall, the hotel was good: the room was very comfortable, quiet and very clean. The service at the restaurant was very good. Food quality and diversity at the buffet was good. The only critic I would have is regarding the food at the “A la carte” restaurants: it was a bit disappointing. Other than that, we had a nice stay.

Riu Palace Paradise Island: Stay at the Riu

The hotel itself was good. However no music and due tobweathwr it was pretty boring. No pool time I get this is nt thoroughly fault due to weather but alternative fun would have been nice. The special restaurants ridiculous you cant reaeve in advance but the buffet was good. The service from hotel was good but sunwing was just rude were not helpful with excursion info. Very disappointed in flight they ran out of food. Riu Playa Blanca: Exactly what we needed!

First and foremost, thank you to our tripcentral agent, Bev Johnston, for helping us to arrange this trip. She is so easy to deal with and does everything she can to provide us with just the trip experience we are looking for every time!! My husband and I don’t get to travel as much as we would like to, but when we do we want to stay at a resort where we can get the relaxation we need and also go on excursions to learn about the country we are visiting. The Riu satisfied both of those requi [... read more]rements. Our room overlooking the ocean was very clean, spacious, and comfortable, and the cleaning staff did a wonderful job every day. Our only complaint would be that they didn’t replenish the pop in the fridge as often as we would have liked, but that is a very minor complaint. The food at the buffets was very good, and we never left without feeling stuffed, and the staff were always friendly and efficient. My favourite dinner waiters, Miguel and Jorges, always made sure there was a beer waiting for me when I sat down! They were amazing! We also went to the steakhouse one night, and the food and service were fantastic! We didn’t use the pools much because we prefer the beach and the ocean, but the pools always appeared clean and well maintained. The beach was awesome! Yes, the sand gets extremely hot because of its dark colour, but that is to be expected due to its volcanic origins. You can walk for miles either way along the beach, and the ocean was wonderful to swim in. However, it is the ocean, and there are dangers. We quickly learned to take the red flag seriously because if the tide is out, there is a danger of stingrays. You have to pay attention to the lifeguards. They are there for a reason! I have read some reviews where people complained about wild dogs on the beach, but these complaints are ridiculous. Yes, sometimes we saw dogs running on the beach, but they never approach the visitors unless coaxed over, and they never caused problems. Anyway, the staff are always quick to usher away any animals (or people for that matter) who shouldn’t be there. As for our excursions, they were incredible. We arranged them all through our amazing Sunwing rep on site, Christian, and he couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful!! This resort is quite a distance from some of the excursions sites, but if you want a resort that is far away from all the crowds and craziness of more populated areas you have to deal with that. We didn’t mind at all because our excursions were everything we could have asked for and more. I highly recommend the partial transit of the Panama Canal, the jungle boat tour, and the hike up Gaital Mountain in the Anton Valley. All in all, we had a fabulous time with no serious complaints at all. I’m sure there are fancier resorts out there, but for us this was just what we wanted!! Oh, and one last thing, being 10 minutes from the airport is a definite plus in my books!

Riu Merengue: The whole family had a very good time at this hotel!

Excellent service, very well maintained huge territory, nice beach line, good variety of food! We have been having great time there! Went for 7 days with family ( 2 adults, 2 kids of 5 and 7 years). Very spectacular night shows, well organized mini disco and animation program for kids. The Riu Merengue is joined with Riu Bachata. You can feel free and attend shows at the neighboring hotel too, as well as visit their restaurants and use their beach. There is the cruise ship terminal beside Riu Bachata and it was impressive to watch those huge ships coming to the harbour. The pool at Riu Merengue is not too big but you can always find a spot. And you can always go to Riu Bachata's pool which is bigger. I would definitely suggest going there !! Nice hotel for a good price!

Riu Playa Blanca: Amazing Resort

We all really enjoyed our stay at this resort. The customer service, room service, all the restaurants, cleanness are only few to mention. You don't have to wait long for your drink (which I was impressed) I strongly suggest this resort to family with children. I am a kind of a picky person and was skeptical about going there once I read the previous reviews but since my sister already booked for all 6 of us I thought I just try to enjoy it but when I got there I was surprised about those nasty  [... read more]reviews. I have been to a lot of 5 star resorts. I agree that it's not a 5 star resort but for the price you get a lot more value. I will definitely go there again.

Riu Palace Costa Rica: Average Resort

Resort is average nothing to brag about.Pool area is basic not many activities but lots of chairs to lay on. Food was basically the same every day with the exception of the pool bbq which was great.Lobby bar closed early leaving no place for night life had to go to resort next to us which had a sports bar.pool area was better too spent a lot of days there.Surprising since it was a cheaper resort.Had many problems door key lock did not work had manager replace it,bar fridge did not work,maid did  [... read more]not show up 2 times did not expect this from a Riu.The entertainment was par a lot of my group left early boring.This was my second time at a riu not impressed.

Riu Montego Bay: Amazing Resort

The hotel was excellent, the rooms and grounds are maintained in a pristine condition. There were some very noisy guests in the next suite and the security team handled that immediately as there are noise restrictions. The staff were extremely kind and friendly. They were interested and excited about our wedding even though it was not at the resort. I found the food to have an superb variety. My partner is a master chef and a bit of a perfectionist so he was a little more discerning about  [... read more]the local food. all in all it was very enjoyable. The weather did not co-operate as it rained almost everyday.

Riu Palace Jamaica: Lovely

Everything was first class - the food was delicious - the grounds and all of the rooms were great!! Our only downfall is we couldn't get an ocean view room - the view from our room was not suitable to us - but we managed OK - we weren't in the room that much anyhow - but if we go back again - we would not go unless we had an ocean view room. The Jamaican people are so kind and very helpful - we had a great time!! Thanks for booking us!!

Riu Palace Costa Rica: Fabulous resort!

Beautiful resort, amazing food and great customer service!!! Highly recommend this resort and to try the “water sour” cocktail! Gerry our Nexus guide was very informative, professional and provided us with all the necessary info about the resort, Costa Rica and tours.

Riu Palace Costa Rica: A Tropical Oasis

The Riu Palace in Costa Rica was amazing. The resort is secluded between lush mountains, overlooking the Pacific ocean. The grounds were kept immaculate with meticulously trimmed hedges. As well, the hotel and rooms were very clean and well maintained. Our meals were delicious and the restaurant service was wonderful. Staff were very friendly and helpful throughout the resort. Overall, a very pleasant, relaxing experience. Definitely our favorite resort. We'll be returning next year.

Riu Republica: Will not go back

First let me start this by saying, we like to travel to places where we can relax and get some down time...we are not partiers although we do like to dance. This resort did its absolute best to cater to ALL AGES of adults, but there was definitely a TON of noise....very, very huge resort so if you are looking to get away from crowds, this is NOT the place. We were able to find a few little quiet spots, far left end of the beach by the Hard Rock, right next to Coco's bar, a cute little bar tha [... read more]t played latin music we could dance to in between drinks. NOTE: NO BAR SERVICE AT THE BEACH, but some of the bartenders have started coming around with random drinks on a tray to the beach...be kind, please TIP them! Alot of young people did not respect the "quiet side" of the beach as I was told it was....loud music...others around, not myself, finally asked them to turn it off. The food was wonderful; for an all-inclusive, I found there was alot of selection and decent quality. For drinks, unfortunately, no caesars, but they do make bloody marys and alot of very fruity drinks. The wine...they have two reds...be sure to ask for either "sec" or "dulce" depending on what you want. Rose wine was there and white. Some say the wine is terrible....I was able to find one red that was palatable enough for me for the week. MY BAD: I did not factor in how the 3 hour time change would affect our stay, so we missed breakfast most days of the week, as it would have had us up around 6am our time to make it for breakfast at 10am there, to have at least an hour to eat before there was nothing left and they closed at 11am. For this reason we also chose not to book excursions...as I said, we were there to relax, not get up to an alarm. The Michael Jackson show was truly amazing, but most other shows fell short of any quality entertainment after that. The two evening live music acts played the same set every time they were there, so get used to hearing repeat material, particularly if you have a trained music ear. We had a very, very bad room on check in, despite our travel agent's request 3 months earlier for near the water/ king bed. We had near the...VERY LOUD... generators, twin beds. After complaining to the front desk, we had to spend a night in room 3004, the next day at 2pm moved to another room that met the TA's emailed requests. The hallways echo quite a bit, and with partiers coming back at 2am local time, and the maids starting up at 9am local time...6am for us...with their walkie talkie radios at full volume, blasting every single radio communication in the resort, it was tough to get much sleep here. I have no idea why they cannot wear those radios on their belts like all other resort staff AND turn the volume DOWN. The staff did a wonderful job keeping the rooms clean, but the bar gets stocked only every second day, and you have to call if you want more water or anything else. We did not get routinely stocked once our entire week we were there...once got a note that we had our "do not disturb" sign up and they would come back in 2 days or we could call, but we had to call every single time after that. RIU falls short with no garbage bin liners in the garbages in the rooms, and I'm quite sure they can afford it for a "5*" resort. Dropping wet coffee liners or feminine products into an unlined can is hardly sanitary and boggles my mind as to why this is overlooked. SAND FLEAS: Read up on these critters because we were unaware and I was bitten quite badly...bug spray needs to be for FLEAS as well, not just mosquitos...unbeknown to us. The ocean and sand is stunning, but with a shoddy treatment by Sunwing added to all the shortfalls of this resort, we will definitely be spending more and heading elsewhere next time. I'm very, very disappointed to have to make this review, however, if you are looking for a quiet getaway and have limited time for a holiday, keep looking past this resort. spend your hard-earned money elsewhere. If you are a partier and don't sleep, you may get a ton of value for your buck here.

Riu Playa Blanca: Fantastic resort

We have stayed in many resorts, at different islands and counties! This experience was different than any other one we’ve been to! They really exceeded our expectations, from front desk’s excellent service, our room cleanliness, the bar staff being attentive to great pools and awesome entertainment! We defiantly recommend this resort to everybody!

Riu Flamingos: Incredible resort

This resort was beautiful and very well laid out. Didn't have to walk all over. Food was good. Good variety. Drinks were premium. Room was great. Activities at the pool each day were so much fun. Staff was so helpful. OnE suggestion, a place where you can paint your own pottery.
