Hyatt Vivid Punta Cana: Excellent Resort

The resort was very clean and nice looking with lots of bushes, plants and palm trees. The food was excellent and the service was great. The Al cart restaurants were very good and you didn't have to make reservations which was really nice. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Our room was nice with a big walk in shower, not sure if it was newly renovated but seemed like it might have been. Over all it was a great week, the resort is a nice comfortable size.

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Average and tired

Room: The furniture in the rooms was very dated. The bathtub did not drain properly; by the end of the shower we were standing in 2 inches of water. The shower door did not slide properly, one of the rollers was broken off. There was no hairdryer in the room and the phone did not work. After 3 attempts we finally received a hairdryer but the phone was never operational during our 10 day stay. We had hot water all but one day in a 10 day stay. We received clean towels and large bottles of water  [... read more]every day. Beds were quite comfy. Staff: The housekeeping staff was fantastic, no complaints at all. Most of the staff in resort were friendly and helpful except for the VIP and main reception. I always felt that I was bothering them and that they really did not care. Checkin: seemed a bit chaotic as a large group of people were crowded in small area at VIP desk but we get through it fairly quickly. Beach: clean and plenty of sunbeds but no palapas on beach? However there quite a few trees for shade. Pool: Sunbeds were not as plentiful and shade was scarce. More palapas are needed. Entertainment: We only attended 3 shows which were good. There is no entertainment before 9:30. Wifi: Terrible in our room (block 4 garden view main floor). Beach and VIP lounge were the best locations. Food: We enjoyed the specialty restaurants, especially Mediterranean. The buffet was limited and repetitive. We only had bacon one day! Drinks: Drinks were good and great variety. The best drinks were at VIP beach bar (premium liquour) and the sports bar. Note: there is no lobby bar which I found strange, the sports bar is located beside the lobby but is enclosed. Wifi is non existent in sports bar. Also this resort recently changed ownership, not sure what changes this will bring

Bahia Principe Explore La Romana: Okay Resort

The resort is very clean and well kept. Housekeeping services for rooms was excellent. The major downfall of the resort was the food in the buffet Many of the food trays appeared to be brought out night after night Ie beef strips. One night turkey was being carved and served as a feature. It was all gone in 45 minutes and the server advised there was no more turkey available!!!!! Evrntually they brought out some chicken but even that was limited. Someone grossly underestimated the amount o [... read more]f turkey required when the resort was apparently nearly full. Thankfully they had pasta-pizza etc available every night. Overall the food was a disappointment compared to other resorts I have been to. Our room was directly opposite the lobby of the Boganville lobby which was a turn around point for the shuttles being operated by the e hotel. Everytime they backed up the reverse alarm would start beeping which sounded like an alarm clock going off No sleep for the first two nights After complaining strenuously I finally got to speak to the person who supervised the shuttles and he was able to quiet them during the night but they would start up at 7 AM. Would have been nice to sleep in a bit while on holidays. MY ADVICE. Avoid building o 32

Lifestyle Residence Suites: solid four star

This is a big beautiful property. It has several sister hotels in the area which are accessible by provided shuttle buses, or walk.(maximum time to get to any hotel 6 minutes). the hotel we stayed was called Residence. There are many stairs and hills. Would not be suitable, in my opinion, for persons with mobility issues. There were many pools, never did I see overcrowding. It is my experience that the sea here is usually very wavy. (which we like). This would not be the beach for snorkelers. Food/drinks. There was never a shortage of food or drinks at this hotel. The food I gave a 3. There were a lot of stewy type foods. Even vegetables, at times were in some type of gravey. I truly believe they could do better with food, however I never walked away hungry. We went to the Italian al a carte, this was the only time we came across almost rude, employee.We came for a reservation 4 minutes early, the reception, stated, all these people are waiting, (she waved to show all the people sitting by the pool waiting to be seated) she stated, you will have to wait your turn. yikes..... I should mention, not every hotel offers everything. Example, all entertainment is at one sister hotel, the al a cartes are all at different sister hotels. It truly is not a big deal as there are many shuttle buses to take you were you need to go. There was a 20.00 us fee per person to get out of the country.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Love the resort

This was our fourth time there. I have all the best to say about the resort. Everyone was nice and helpful. Beach was great, rooms very nice and clean. Cleaning staff was excellent. Servers were great, working very hard to make sure we had a good time.

Playabachata Hotel: Playa Bachata

Major shortage of poolside lounge chairs had to get up at 6:30 in the morning to get a chair for the day. Food was repetitive and made, mostly into chopped up mixtures Staff was very pleasant. Cockroach in my room

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Disappointed

Not the best for seniors. Pool Loungers difficult to get out of. No chairs to sit. Buffet food was cold. Rooms dated. Staff were excellent. Grounds beautiful. DO NOT TRUST the team selling adventure packages, they lie. He sold a parasailing package claiming 3 people can go, but were told by the operator only 2 can go at once. We booked the surf pool and was told they would charge it to the room once it's used. It was charged to the room immediately with no refunds. Won't be returning

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Great resort

Very large resort - luckily there are carts to take you around. So much to do. Great entertainment. Great a la cart restaurants. Clean. I would have liked better service (we did tip). There were lots of flies at night biting us, even with bug spray. The spa was very nice.

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: 5 star resort falls short

The resort had beautiful buildings and the bloomless landscape was in winter season so could not be rated. The rooms were old, the mattress was terrible and should have been replaced five years ago. The shower/tub was slippery and not suitable for seniors. The housekeeping staff left the laundry and trash in the villa lobby which I found distasteful. The food at the buffet would have been delicious if it was properly heated. The beach/pool loungers were not suitable for seniors. Sunscape Puerto Plata: Sunscape Puerto Plata was Horrible!!

Food was terrible. My husband got food poisoning 2nd night , Violent profound vomiting, If it was not for the Medications I brought we would have been in trouble, Three other people in different families also became I’ll, Resort needs upgrading, It is a 2 star.

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Never lets us down.

This is our 8th trip to the Bahia Ambar in Punta Cana. We are never disappointed. The food is great, even in the buffet. Lots of food options. Great staff and activities. This is a huge resort but the trams run all the time. St the most, we waited 5 minutes for a ride.

Royalton Bavaro Resort and Spa: Nice Vacation

The Resort was very nice and clean. Food was fair. Service was great. A few things were not good. First : I paid extra for an Ocean View Room. There was no view of the ocean from my room. The ocean was to the right and there was a cement wall that extended 3 feet from my balcony blocking the view. I went to the front desk to complain and change rooms but there were none available. They told me to return the next day after 5pm. I returned the next day and after waiting 45 minutes, still t [... read more]here were none available. I was told to come back again tomorrow. I went back the next day and again waited 30 minutes only to be told the same thing. After that I just gave up :( The entertainment on the resort was ok but not great.

Ocean Blue and Sand: Beautiful Resort

We stayed in Feb 2023, our room was spacious with a king size bed as well as a sitting area with sofa. Pools were fantastic. Beach area was small, but still seemed large enough to accommodate anyone wanting to spend time there. Food was excellent in the buffet as well as the 7 a la carte restaurants. Would highly recommend for a relaxing vacation

Royalton CHIC Punta Cana: Royalton Chic Punta Cana DR

This was our second time here. The resort needs some TLC.The staff was great and the buffet food was great too. Waitress Mercedes on the beach took care of us. Could use more chairs on the beach but we were always there early so we where ok.

Casa Marina Sosua Trademark by Wyndham All Inclusive: 4/5 resort !!

The location of the resort is amazing and so is the view. The pools and restaurants are clean and everyone is polite. However, the drinks were not that great, very plain and many drinks were not available at the resort such as a MOJITO LIKE WHAT! Food was great with many options, restaurants need a bit of work as there were limited options and portions were the size of my pinky toe.

Occidental Caribe: Made the best of it!

Hotel is dated and requires many upgrades (no phones worked in our room and having to walk to guest services was a hike, shower leaked at the base which required a huge bath towel to soak it all, beer was only added to fridge if it was requested daily and since we had no phone, we were always at guest services). Areas such as the sports bar, exclusive area on beach with a bar for those who pay into premium pkg no longer exists. This is a big resort on beautiful grounds...awesome beach which you [... read more] can walk for hours. Food was good...we didn't starve...it's all about what each individual likes. Staff was stretched out and line ups at the bar were at times insane. There were rumours floating around that the resort was going to be shut down - some said for good and others stated for a year of full renos...so not sure if lack of services is due to this. They are slowing moving away from anything paper - map of grounds, cocktail menu for the bars and food menus for a la carte restaurant all on QR codes and again not all up to date...not always convenient when you don't want to carry your electronic devices every second of the day. At this time, I would not be able to recommend to go somewhere that I am not willing to go back to under the resorts current conditions.

Sunscape Puerto Plata: Amazing Stay

We spent 10 days at the Sunscape Puerto Plata Jan 26-February5th 2024. I understand everyone has different taste in resorts. We are average people and here is our review. We stayed in Pool view King Building 11 2nd floor. Rooms were decent. Hot water every day decent shower pressure. Close walk to everything. Maid was excellent fridge serviced daily. Pool was nice typical temperature. Pool bar was great, friendly bartenders. Only ate at the buffet , Pizzeria and snack bar. Buffet had an ex [... read more]cellent variety. Pizza was wood fired small selection but great taste. Snack bar was limited but wings were awesome. Beach was nice and clean. Overall no complaints. I have stayed at 4 resorts in Dorada beach and this one the best by far .

Nickelodeon Hotel Punta Cana: Bad Experience

We were very excited to take my 4 year old here, but unfortunately that excitement was short lived. The daytime activities for swimming and water park were about the only great things. The food was so horrible and repetitive that we couldn't wait to get home. Don't get excited about the speciality restaraunts each night because they are not open every night and there is nothing posted to tell you so. All 3 of us ended up getting traveller's diarrhea on our 5th day. We tried to be very careful ab [... read more]out what we ate but the way the food was handled was disgusting and you couldn't get away from it. We had to get antibiotics when we got home. We spoke to many people who all were sick as well and some so bad they were stuck in their rooms. The only great part about this entire trip was the excursion we did to Monkeyland. Rooms were very outdated. Our bathroom toilet door didn't even shut. Mold was growing behind the bath tub. The only restaraunt we found to be good was Fresco at the pool bar at building 3. We will never ever return to this resort. Very unorganized, the beach was so rough and don't plan to enjoy yourself on it because over 20 different vendors are constantly bugging you. Our son was approached by a man with a parrot and he just propped him in his hands and tried to get our phones to take photos and wanted to charge $60 US. Thankfully we were close by and told him to leave us alone. That is not okay!!!! For the price you pay for this resort, read the hundreds of bad reviews and go elsewhere. It may have been good at one time but it has gone downhill and you will regret it. We are very positive people and tried to overlook the negative comments and went with a clear mind, but unfortunately all those negative comments are 100% true. STEAR CLEAR!
