Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Ok Resort

Beach and Pools were amazing. Bartenders and wait staff were great and very friendly. Lobby area was large and relaxing. Evening shows were amazing each night. Exceptional souvenir shops/carts. Rooms were fair to poor: stained sheets, terribly smelly throw pillows. Water and towels poorly restocked each day. After asking for refills we were told they would be delivered to our room - often were not. AC worked great. 'Public' washrooms were a disaster all the time. Would recommend to those lookin [... read more]g for a cheap get away - mostly because the beach was absolutely gorgeous and staff was friendly.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Great trip!!

A bit of a lengthy review but hope you appreciate the info. This was my family's first trip to the Melia Jardines Del Rey. We had a great trip and would return to this resort. It is a large resort and there is quite a bit of walking distance to amenities depending which block your room is located. It didn't bother us but I would suggest a room in blocks 10-19 to be central to pools, food etc. The room was adequate, clean and maid service was good. Each room has a safe, iron, ironing board,  [... read more]hairdryer and bar fridge. The fridge is re-stocked daily with 2 beers, 2 pops and a large bottle of water daily at no cost. You can request a change in the order of beverages if need be. The bar service was good, considering a large hotel. There were some lineups but they moved pretty quickly. The beach bars ran out of beer daily around 5, but the pool bar and lobby always had it around the clock. The food was great! We had chicken, beef, fall off the bone ribs and pork dishes. The usual Cuban fare with rice and pasta dishes, cold-cuts, fruit, fish, amazing omelets, cereals, etc. The a la carts were very good. No shortage of food for sure. Ive been to Cuba 7 times and have never had a problem with the food. Ive seen complaints about the food in reviews but if you want "7" star food, go to Sandals and pay triple! Its Cuba. A tip...make the trip to "Lenny's" on the beach for fresh lobster or beef, chicken etc. A short cab ride and for $15 peso's you get an amazing meal on a private point of land overlooking the ocean. The entertainment was ok, I think geared toward the younger crowd as it was reading week. The stage shows were good too. My daughter and her boyfriend took the catamaran trip with lobster lunch and snorkeling and loved it! ($160) They also attended a rave in a cave offsite converted into a nightclub, and said they had a blast! ($25 each which incl. all drinks) Staff and workers were awesome. The resort could use a bit of minor TLC...some paint here and there, locks fixed on patio doors in some units etc., but nothing major. No need for special adapters for phones, tablets etc., as the have converted all electrical (website says they are required but are not) Okay my BIGGEST problem with the resort and it doesn't involve the resort or their employees.... Some tourists, not all, leaving all of their empty cups, garbage etc. on the beach and pool area after they leave. I was appalled at the manners of some "adults" visiting paradise. The attitude of "Ive paid for this trip, you need to clean up after me" is disgusting! As a Canadian, that's not who we are....shameful. Overall, I loved the resort and everything it offered. Twenty minutes from the airport was nice too. A long review but just wanted you all to have the details. Special thanks to Tripcentral for all their help to make this trip so memorable. Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Great Resort

I like the resort, it was small. The beach was very nice, rooms were clean, staff was very friendly and very helpful. Always found something I liked to eat. I would go back. You will need a converter at this resort.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Beautiful Beach

Beach was beautiful, staff we very friendly and service was great. Food was ok, I always found something I liked to eat. Breakfast for me was made to order omelettes and there was a pasta bar and pizza bar for supper, again it was made to order. It is an older resort and there are some needed repairs. For the price of the trip it was worth it!

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Pleasantly Surprised!

We traveled as a couple and knew what to expect as we have both been to Cuba a few times. Flight & Representative at Resort: The flight departing Toronto was on time. We were comfortable and had no issues. Our Sunwing Rep at the resort was helpful answering our questions.Thank you Sunwing. Check-In: We had a evening flight. Check-in was quick. Front desk was friendly and helpful. Took a little longer to find our room as it was dark and there were no resort maps available. Room: Clean and the  [... read more]perfect view. We had hot water everyday and the water pressure was fine. Our room was cleaned daily without issue. Food: We both agreed that the food was better than any other resort we have visited in Cuba. Repetitive? Yes, but we were creative and changed it up every day. Always fresh chicken, beef, pork, seafood and eggs. By the looks of everyone's plates nobody was starving and best of all I didn't have to cook it! We always had hot coffee and orange juice in the morning before we sat down and wine at lunch. Thank you Jordan and Baily. a la carte: We dined at the Mediterranean restaurant and were pleased with our meal. It was the only a la carte we booked. Alcohol: We mostly drank beer. The few mixed drinks we had were good. No complaints. We had wine with our meals and that was also good. I brought my own wine from Duty Free in Toronto and ended up giving it to one of the gardeners. It certainly wasn't required. Excursions: We did not go on any excursions as we were there to relax. Pool: The pool was very clean and had entertainment daily. We did not spend a lot of time at the pool as we are beach people. Beach: Amazing. Clean. Clear. Lots of shade. Lots of long walks. Staff: Front desk, customer relations, chefs, waiters, bartenders, maids, gardeners (Claudio) all were so accommodating and very friendly. We had a great time!! Would we return? Yes!

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Love this resort but No hot water again!

This was our second time at the Caribe. We had an issue with no hot water the first time in March 2016 (before the hurricane). We assumed that after the hurricane, the water problems would be solved. It wasn't and we were booked in building 17 and everyone there had cold water only. We eventually were moved to building 21 and finally had hot showers. Everything else about this resort is wonderful and we loved our second room which had been renovated. It was beautiful and a great location,  [... read more]close to everything. The staff there is very helpful but there is not much they can do about the plumbing system. We would only go back if we were guaranteed hot water. We were there for 2 weeks and that is too long for taking cold showers!

Hotel Mojito: Enjoyed it!

We were there in February for Valentines Day. The grounds are well kept and friendly staff. The food was good. We had a chance to experience their Cuban Day where they serve lunch close to the pool. There was music and dancing and the food was amazing. The rooms were clean and again the staff was great. The entertainment is where improvement is needed. In the past we had a variety of singers on different nights but this year we had the same ones . They are ok but more variety would be appre [... read more]ciated. The beach is amazing with lots of places for shade if needed. Chairs were always available. Overall we had a great time and we will be returning for sure.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Ok Resort

Need to upgrade,make sure Beach towels are available. Snack Bar staff are rude. Too many mosquito in the room.Toilet not working. Didn’t see anyone cleaning the pool in the morning for 5 days. Beach bar are so small and limited.

Service was slow at all restaurants, had to wait for cutlery and drinks. Especially the restaurant by the beach, the staff just chatting amongst themselves and we had to get our own cutlery, napkins and water. And if you asked the staff, they would take ten minutes before bringing anything. The pools in the lobby attracted mosquitoes so that was bad! Melia Costa Rey: Outstanding resort

Very clean, staff friendly and helpful, night life good if I would have one thing to say is that they should put a bit more variety in their shows to much dancing . Beach beautiful lots of space. A la carte restaurant were all very good.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Dirty resort

The resort was dirty the bathrooms were dirty. The pool area had broken glass. We used the same beach towel for 9 days no one got clean beach towels.We were given hand towels when They run out of Bath towels. Asked 3 times to have are toilet seat fixed never came To fix it.My husband and others were bitten by insects. Would not return to this resort. Also when we changed are money to pesos the exchange was never the same you could go bank front desk it matter.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Great vacation

Memories caribe was a quiet beautiful piece of paradise. The beach was outstanding, the staff welcoming and helpful. The rooms although a tad dated were clean and comfortable. We didn't have to wait for anything and wanted for nothing. Food was good and always served with a smile. It became one of our favorite resorts very quickly. We will return

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: A Nice Vacation

Issues with accommodations; farthest from main areas, not a good view, in poor repair, flooding outside our door, floor not lit up for 3 nights, ...but everything else made up for it. Beautiful beach! Everyone very friendly. Talented entertainers. Large assortment of food and drinks...ground well-kept and clean. Ps sand fleas from the beach do bite! We’re told to do beach only between 9 and 5 so fleas go deep in the sand when it’s hot.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Amazing beach, incredible staff

Stayed two weeks at memories Caribe in Cayo cocoa. After hearing mixed reviews about Cuba we were very pleasantly surprised by our stay. The beach was amazingly beautiful. Long sandbar allowing guests to walk far especially when tide was out. Beach offers bar and pizza. You have to try the pizza. Food was substantial and average by Canadian standards but well prepared. Choice of large buffet items as well as Chefs who grill your choice of beef pork chicken or seafood. The pasta bar i [... read more]s personally made to order and is fantastic. Lots of choices for breakfast including Smoothies to order with fruit and flavours of your choosing. There is a choice of alecart restaurants (Asian Mediterranean,Cuban) Every restaurant meal was well prepared with superior wait staff but the Mediterranean was our favorite There are a number of bars including a newly opened Bar and snack bar, a Lobby bar,Pool side swimup bar. Our room was spacious,a Mini suite,comfortable king bed, outdoor patio, indoor and outdoor shower. Certainly the highlight of our trip was the staff who were amazing and incredibly attentive. Some guests had issues with intermittent hot water but we had no issues. There was a bank on site and the on site entertainment each evening and day time entertainment staff. The activities and entertainment was excellent as was the variety of excursions available. People we met from other hotels complained of the cleanliness in public areas of their hotel. This was not the case at Memories Caribe. The cleaning staff kept the washrooms and public areas spotless and the grounds keepers kept the grounds beautiful. Special thanks to our gardner Jordan who worked diligently and helped provide coconuts to the guests. Special thanks to Rafael Pedley,Damaris Rodriguez, Yony Castillo, Yunior Valle Diaz, Yandy Morales, and our maid Dievy who made our room sparkle. ROOM - ceiling fan didn't work - shower drain didn't drain properly...ended up standing in a pool of water - no screens on balcony doors...so if you want fresh air and ocean breezes you risk letting the mosquitoes in - mattresses were very uncomfortable POOLS - too cold (unheated)...I went in twice the entire trip - pool deck and pool bottom are VERY slippery FOOD - you have to stand in line and wait for anything tasty - bring your own chocolate...the desserts are waxy and bland - [... read more] too many canned/processed meats and mystery salads - everything cooked with water smells and tastes funny - finding anything tasty to drink that doesn't contain sugar or alcohol can be a challenge HOTEL - the usual Cuban set up...some employees are helpful, most are uninterested in doing anything other than the bare minimum - room decor is up to date, rest of the hotel is showing its age - very noisy; the PA system at the main pools blasts music and the dance instructors' voices loud enough to be heard all over the resort - there's a rooster that starts crowing around 5AM - the groundskeepers sometimes fire up the gas-powered trimmers around 8AM - honking horns from the cars at La Collection buildings and delivery trucks...all hours of the night Even by Cuban standards, this is not a 4-star hotel.

Sol Cayo Coco: Amazing Service

It might be an older resort however the people who work there more than make up for it. Never had such friendly and helpful service. Special thanks to Elvis in the buffet. The beaches were fabulous and always a chair available. Food was good for Cuba and our room was always well supplied and clean. We definitely would go back.

Hotel Playa Paraiso: Awesome Vacation

Very relaxing vacation with my sister. This hotel is close to the airport. Wonderful staff in all areas. Beautiful sandy beaches. Best food in Cuba. Great animation team and nightly entertainment. Be sure to bring bug spray. They don't have face clothes but this was not an issue as we brought our own. Overall it was a very pleasant holiday.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Wonderful stay!

We could not fault anything about our hotel stay. We were upgraded as we had to stay at another hotel the first night due to a water problem at this hotel. We were called about it the day before so we were aware. I liked this hotel better than the first! We had a lovely room, in building 2 and on the second floor. Our balcony looked out on the pool. Beautifully kept gardens. We ate at the diamond club restaurant a few breakfasts and loved it. The Al A Carts were ok, but I don't think  [... read more]the greatest. The buffet did well, but I have come to realize, the food is still never going to be like at home. There was lots of selection though. We enjoyed the snack bar often. The rooms and resort was very clean. The staff were amazing and friendly. The beach was lovely of course. We loved the catamaran ride and the snorkeling at the reef. The market was a let down for sure as was the Beach Party. We did love the fact that the ride from the airport was short. Overall the stay was wonderful.

You get what you pay for I guess. $3,700 for 4 people gets you: Same beach towel all week. Said we could exchange at the clubhouse, but this was closed all week. Put in a request for new towels with reception; never received any. Horrible food even for Cuba standards. Self serve at the buffet was not labelled so didn’t know what half the stuff was. Only the food prepared hot for you was decent, but the same stuff was offered every night. Terrible maid service. Had to leave notes for the m [... read more]aid in order to get fresh towels, bottled water, toilet paper, etc - things that should just automatically be replenished without having to ask! Disgusting public washrooms Half of them were broken/out of order. Ran out of toilet paper by the afternoon. Men’s urinals were clogged and filled with urine. LOTS of mosquitos!
