Blau Varadero: The best resort so far in Cuba

We have been to Cuba for 20 times and this resort was by far the best that I ever been at. The food was good. There was always lots to eat. The hamburgers are awesome. I have never eaten meat in Cuba before. The staff was awesome. The room was clean with a great oceanview. The lobby with the hanging plants is breathtaking. The resort was quaint and cozy. Club Karey: Not good time to visit here now

This is the first time visit this hotel because it's location. It should more diffcult time for this kind hotel in Cuba,it is an old hotel,maybe country could not give more surpport,Staff no energy to work, so almost no food,less service,less light,many broken building,room is not right for stay,around 10 guests in this big hotel. Iberostar Coral Esmeralda: Wonderful people!

The resort is beautiful and the people are wonderful, very accommodating and anxious to please. Due to supply constraints, the variety of food is limited; plenty of fish but a shortage of fresh fruit most days. Definitely take advantage of the spa - best massage ever from Alex. Thanks to Jackson for the Spanish lessons and to Ariel for the considerate attention to detail!

Starfish Cayo Guillermo: Such a wonderful place!

I just made a "quick stop" here last week for 3 days, and being my second visit, nothing has changed since 2019. The buildings are dated, but WELL maintained. The food is amazing (repetitive, but amazing), the pools are clean, the staff is awesome, and the grounds are maintained to the tee! While there, I made arrangements to return in may :) Soooo many of the guests are returnees. And I even met a girl who was on her 11th visit in 13months! I can't wait to return in 7 weeks

Grand Memories Holguin: Very Surprised

The grounds and hotel are new and in a great shape. The hotel and rooms were really clean and up to a standard. Normally, I don't write reviews, but I'm compelled to write this one. Having been to Cuba more than a dozen times, I was surprised by the shortage of food. We all don't go to Cuba for their gourmet meals, but beautiful beaches, facilities and people. This time, the shortage of food in this hotel was beyond tolerance. I went with my friend and two 5 yr olds. There was no milk, eg [... read more]gs, real juice, fruit...just stuff made of powder. The only fruit all week was unripened pineapple. The rice and pasta were stale and I struggled to get the meals for kids. There were no condiments like vinegar, oil, olives, ketchup, hot sauce, etc. that one would find at a buffet. All that was available was salt and sugar, all week. We had eggs for breakfast only one day and when fries arrived, mid-week, one afternoon at the 24 hr. snack bar, people swarmed like bees to get them. Line ups for food/meals at any time at the buffet were huge, with chefs/cooks using only one cooking surface making food for one person at a time (manager told them so). The wait was at least 20 min per person. It was bad. I wasn't expecting the world, this is Cuba after all; but this was beyond tolerance. The only dinner that was good was at the Japanese a la carte restaurant. Beach bar bartenders, Julian and Mirena were amazing and made do with little drinks that were available. Once we arrived, we discovered the 'Sanctuary Section' of the hotel for adults. Ridiculous! They were able to eat at the 'common buffet' and those who purchased regular packages were not allowed to 'their section' (couldn't even get that package with two little ones). For the rooms; get ready to get a 1L of water for 4 people and that's it. Nothing else gets filled in the mini fridge...unless you track down the water/juice boy and pay him at least $5USD/day to give you 2 little juice boxes. It was bad...and I didn't expect much. Who would, knowing how poor the Cubans are. Perhaps, the reason is that the resort is called Grand Memories Holguin, leading one to believe that's it's in Holguin the city. It's not, it's 120km away from the Holguin airport and very isolated, with rare supply/deliveries to the hotel. The name is because of the reference to the province of Holguin. I give this hotel 2* because of the nice grounds/clean rooms, that's all. As far as the beach goes, you can swim in about 3 meters into the water, hoping not to scrape, brake or injure your feet on large shells/stones/sea grass that are countless. If you dare to go to Cuba post covid, make sure you go to a resort hub like Guardavalaca, or a big city full of resorts where they get easier and regular supply of food. Do not go far from the very populated/resort area like I did ( I didn't do my research) long long bus ride at $4-6 CDN for 1L of gas....no supply, you'll be hungry and come back home at least 5 lbs lighter. This is so sad to write about a country I used to visit so often and enjoyed every time before. I think I'm done with Cuba for the next long while. I forgot to add that most waiters/bartenders at the lobby bar and pools won't even notice you unless you have money on you or you're waiving USDs before you order; not after.

Iberostar Coral Esmeralda: Amazing staff

Comfortable clean hotel. Great variety of food. Wonderful staff, ready to help in any situation. Great entertainment. It could do better with a little bit more maintenance on the property especially furniture and curtains.

Grand Aston Cayo Paredon Beach Resort: Grand Aston = good times

We are an experienced group of visitors to the Cayos and Cuba in general, and this was our first time on Paredon. Being so new, all the rooms, furnishings, and grounds were all in great shape: The shower in the room had excellent pressure, the beds were comfortable, everything worked. I had a minor electrical issue that was promptly addressed by the front desk staff, who where very helpful every time I had a request (internet access, swapping rooms, general information, keeping my towel past che [... read more]ck out, etc). The lounges are nice, there is ample seating in the buffet and snack bars, and on the beach and around the pools. You may have to compete for shade but if you just want to sit down there is always a spot or a member of the staff willing to help you find enough seats. Our big group sat together all the time with ease. The resort design means the pools are often sheltered from the winds that might be stronger on the beach. There is a concrete pad between the beach and the resort that was a bit exposed and makes for a rougher walk, but it's minor, otherwise the beach is nice. It has a big sandbar right in front. We were impressed by the skills of the beach crew, they were making sure everyone could enjoy how they desired. There is an absolutely incredible beautiful natural beach if you walk to the east/right for a while. The food was fine, we often found a few stand out items and there were staples that we could depend on at the buffet (the omelet/meat station was my safe place). You might want to bring some hot sauce if you like that. The beach bar has a mini buffet that usually had some great lunch dishes and of course, the pizza for those willing to wait. We noticed the family section had a good selection of kids food too. There were occasional shortages here and there but nothing disastrous (I was getting worried about the espresso situation, but it was resolved by day 3). The a la carte dining was tough to book and based on the one I attended, a dubious use of your beach time to be waiting in line for. If you don't mind dining later, see if there are any missed appointments you can hop in for instead. Diner later was generally the best way to deal with crowds, there was always fresh stuff being brought out. Of course, the service was a highlight everywhere we went. The front, the bars, the buffet, our rooms, on the grounds, the pool and beach crew, even the airport staff ended up going above and beyond for us (a whole other story...). Some great musical talent on the entertainment crew as well. We quickly felt among friends anywhere we spent enough time, in no small part thanks especially to Yoelbis and Roberto(Terry) in the main lounge!

Iberostar Origin Tainos: One of the Best !!

Jan 23-Feb 6/24***** 5 star in my opinion. Wow what a resort Tanios Varadero it was everything we were looking for, fun entertainment beach food and much much more. Our 2 weeks here was most enjoyable, Tanios delivered !. The food was delicious with a very large variety to choose from, fruits, veggies scrumptious fish chicken pork & beef dishes & deserts galore plus all the trimmings to please every pallet. Just to mention a few who stood out in our awesome stay were our maid Elaine who kept our place fresh & clean during our 2 weeks. Also the pool bartenders, Julio & Mayelin, pool area rest. cooks, the Entertainment ( Elvis is entertainment himself....fun to watch LOL ) Dancers, Musicians and Singers were excellent morning day & night. The staff in the main cafeteria are also outstanding tending to all your needs. all the cooks & servers Beatrix Kania Edwin Louis to mention a few were helpful friendly and always with a beautiful smile . Then there is Jania, manager extraordinaire who runs the front desk. She is so helpful to answer questions info or any problems which may arise. Tanios Varadero is the smoothest most friendliest check-in & out resort we have experienced in our many years & miles of travel. We will definitely return to Tanios Varadero Cuba Thank you one & all

Hotel Los Cactus: Great resort

It was good two week at Los Cactus. Was our second time at resort, and if we go agin to Cuba, that’s the place we go. Staff was amazing and frendly. We celebrated our wedding anniversary, first thing Lisebeth from guest relations came to our room with bottle of wine and resarvation to Cuba restaurant for anniversary dinner. She made that we have good time. Beach and grounds arecamazig. Only complain is internet service. Is verry slow and hard to conect.

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Holguin: Beautiful resort

From reception to departure, we were well looked after. Everyone was friendly and helpful. You felt safe there. The beach was clean and safe. The pool and grounds were clean and safe. Lots of activities to participate in. Very welcoming environment. The food was beautifully prepared, no shortage. Lots of variety. A beautiful location for a relaxing holiday!

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: 2 star resort at best

Was told the main pool would be open before my date of arrival and did not open until the day I was leaving. Other pool was jam packed and no where's near enough chairs for even a quarter of the guests. One bartender more often than not. A la carts were pathetic. Service was slower than ever. No programs or activities for guests at all. No eggs for half my stay. Pop was either flat or way too syrupy. Vegetables and fruit were pretty much nonexistent. Bacon 1 day and gone in 20 minutes. S [... read more]ame with hamburgers at the snack bar. Wifi was hit and miss the whole time. Had to reup time every day. I paid extra when booking to make sure I was in club section only to be put in rundown old and noisy hotel section anyways. Then charger an extra $16.50 USD per night to upgrade to club section. Had the same problems last time I was there hoping it was better now but now it's even worse. Will not go to this resort again.

Resonance Blu Santa Maria: Not bad for $685 per person

There was good and bad. Beach is wonderful, probably nicest one i ever been to. Its easy to get into water. Plenty of beach chairs. Sand is beautiful, but full of sand mites and they will bite you so bring bug repellent. Beach bar isn't far at all. Daily entertainment team tried really hard and had some good activities. Bar service, and service in general was very quick. Lots of bars around so almost never had to wait to be served. Drink quality was good. Swimming pool is enormous, and you can  [... read more]easily find a spot to be on your own. Its pretty shallow, but lots of chairs for everyone around. Our room was great, no issues at all, everything worked, warm water, toilet, etc. Really liked adult only concept. Staff is super friendly and servers come up to you regularly. There is a shopping plaza near by that you can easily walk to. Snack and drinks are available 24 hours so even if you are hungry at 3 am you will be able to grab some food. Food is one of the worst i ever had in Cuba. Everything is cold, undercooked. Very limited choice compared to other places i been to. No beef at all. Eggs are powder eggs. Occasionally had seafood which was good. Also they advertise that they had four a la carte restaurants, that is a lie. There is only one a la carte restaurant. That restaurant was very nice and they do change the menu on daily basis. Night entertainment was the worst one by far compared to other places i visited in Cuba. For 3 straight nights they basically just put music on and had guests dancing with some guys. Basically they were using guests to entertain other guests. Instead of putting shows on, there was almost like glorified disco. Scheduled entertainment was not followed. Also they have huge theater but do not use it, instead they pile everyone in lobby and its hard to see. Our towels in our rooms were never changed, despite being dirty, just folded and put back in place. Also our bed linens were never changed for clean ones. Resort retail store regularly ran out of smokes and cigars.

Hotel Rancho Luna: Regular guest

The hotel is great. Very clean and service crews seem to be cleaning and maintaining 24/7 other than running out of coffee and toilet paper, we were accommodated the best possible way considering some interruptions in the supply chain

Memories Cayo Largo: Worst experiance of any trip I’ve ever been on!!

The restaurant manager and restaurant host shook me, my gf and 70 YO father down for $75USD. After I disputed the charge I was forced to pay. They called police, immigration and forced me to sign a document under distress. 2 sunwing reps did nothing to help. They came to my room at 11:45pm when I was sleeping to scare and intimidate me further. The absolute worst! The two hotel staff and two sunwing staff should be fired immediately. This was my second visit to the resort, I will never return. I will never go to Cuba ever again! I have never left a review before but wanted to let everyone know what happened! So scary. Such a bad experiance. Other than the worst experiance of my life here are the other reasons why I wouldn’t return. 1. No toilet paper, anywhere!! 2. No beach, it was washed out 3. Ran out of beer 4. Ran out of wine 5. There was no toilet paper!! Wtf Oh and I got shook down and got the police and immigration called on myself, gf, and 70YO father!! Crazy!! Go anywhere but this place!! It’s the worst!!

Grand Memories Santa Maria: SANCTUARY!!

Food was so bad, we got sick while there. Even though we had done the DUKORAL treatment beforehand, we still got very sick. Mornings only ate fresh eggs made on the grill. French toast was OK DON'T EAT THE OMLETTES, THEY ARE MIXED WITH SOMETHING THAT WILL MAKE YOU SICK. Also, be careful at the lunch grills by the pool and beach. Some made us sick. It is best to go to the buffet for lunch because you can choose what to eat. Suppers we had in the SELECTION restaurant were good, and [... read more] if they weren't they replaced them with something. We stayed with the freshly grilled meat and fish as we knew it was real. WHITE RICE is always a safe bet. I stuck mostly with ice cream and fresh fruit for desserts. We were lucky as our room was great. Our butlers RUDY and JAVIER were wonderful! They met our every need and were always honest with us. We went to the GRAND MEMORIES a couple of times, (mainly for the PIZZERIA, which again is something fresh), but stayed mostly at the SANCTUARY because the pool, rooms, buffet, main hall and beach are all so close. One big complaint we have is in each buffet, they have these carts that carry all the dishes and utensils and as they roll them on the floor, they make SO MUCH NOISE, YOU CAN'T EVEN HEAR YOURSELF BREATH!! It is impossible to just sit and take in the view with so much NOISE IN THE BACKGROUND!! This is easily fixed by changing the wheels to those DAM CARTS!! All in All, I think we are done with Cuba, unless something changes drastically with the food. We have always loved Cuba and we are sad that it has come to this.

Melia Internacional: Nice Hotel

Hotel was kept well, grounds were clean at all times. Food was plentiful considering it was Cuba. Wifi as anywhere in Cuba was terrible. Ran out of vodka and beer at times. Red and Blue Bar service was not good at all.Tip or no tip they just go through the motions. Outside bars much better, quicker service and friendlier. Disco Bar very good and very friendly. Buffet staff was great. Restaurant staff and food was great. Room was cleaned very well daily, made sure we water in the fridge. Roo [... read more]m was nice ( Junior Suite). Gym was small, but you’re able to get workouts in. Treadmill, free weights, universal , bikes. Room overlooks pool and ocean. Quick walk to beach, beaches were great, lots of loungers on beach with umbrellas. Get there early for best seats. Pools nice and clean, swim up bar.

Memories Trinidad Del Mar: Excellent resort

Amazing people, the food is good but always the same. The rooms are clean. The restaurants are ok. The beach is Wow! It's old but so welcoming. The drinks are amazing and the entertainment are goods. I really like my trip there

Playa Luxury Cayo Las Brujas: excellent resort

I loved this resort, the food was amazing, the room was big and the bed was comfy. Nice quiet resort. The staff were attentive and friendly. I had no issues whatsoever. This was my 7th time in Cube,and this resort was by far the best one. I plan on going back in April.

Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo: Wonderful Trip

The grounds and location are fantastic for both adults and families. Persons with mobility issues may find the grounds bit overwhelming for walking, but access is available to the beach. Families with children have access to Kids Club which includes 2 pools, slide and lounge chairs. The food selection was good, and I don't believe anyone went hungry as there was a variety available each day. Some families did bring their own condiments. The staff is friendly and helpful. There is no need  [... read more]to change your currency to U.S. as Canadian dollars including change, loonies and toonies are accepted by staff. The spa is just outside the main entrance which I highly recommend. 1 hr massage (body, facial scrub, and reflexology massage are included at $80 Canadian) There few stores across the street from the Spa and few meters up are souvenir stands where you can get greater variety of products. Overall, I'm happy with my holiday spent and I would return.

Grand Aston Varadero Beach Resort: Had a Great Time!

Recently opened, the resort is super clean and in great shape. Food was typical Cuba fare. Nothing fancy but you certainly won't go hungry. Some things missing from time to time such as eggs, but this is not necessarily specific to this resort given the severe supply issues Cuba is facing right now. The staff are lovely and hard working.
