Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: Great family vacation resort!

Our rooms were comfortable and clean. The food was good and tons of options! Lots for the kids to eat and try, food was readily available and lots of to choose from. Specialty restaurants were good but the Japanese restaurant was amazing!! The water park was great for kids to play and meet up with others and the beach was easily accessible and visible from the water park. Seaweed was at a minimal and there were even fish swimming around you! Staff were friendly and welcoming but don't expect the [... read more] lifeguards to be overly attentive - cuz their priority is to chat amongst themselves. Security was around and visible but not intrusive. The kids club was okay, not really publicized but once we made an effort to go to find it and seek out what activities were offered, my kids enjoyed it. Babysitting services were good for families in need. Our "Jamaican momma", our Westjet Representative was informative and a great support! Great time had by all and we will be back to Jamaica for sure!!

Iberostar Waves Rose Hall Beach: Amazing time in Jamaica

Beautiful resort with wonderful people. The entertainment staff worked very hard to ensure everyone was enjoying your vacation. It was a great mix of people including families, newlyweds and older couples.

Rooms on the Beach Negril: Second time at Rooms Negril

We love this hotel. Staff are friendly rooms are great. Location is ideal. We asked for the balcony rooms and got them on the second night. Security people are great to maintain the privacy on the property. Would stay there again.

Catalonia Montego Bay: Fantastic resort

This hotel was beyond what I was expecting!!! the food was great & the a la carte restaurants especially the Italian was fantastic. It was great to have a non-smoking hotel & also an allotted beach for smoking which was also an adult beach. this resort also catered to children & had a lot of activities for them. Riu Reggae: Rui Reggae Nov 25 - Dec 3, 2017

Nice Hotel, however, both pools were closed almost all week long during our stay. Gym was also out of commission. Food was good, weather was great and the workers at the hotel were very pleasant and helpful.

Riu Ocho Rios: Perfect in so many ways

The staff at this resort were so friendly and made our stay so enjoyable. The snorkelling off the beach was great, more schools of fish and types of fish than we seen on our off site excursion. The Jamaican patties, and cinnamon buns where among our favourites. This resort is quiet and would be perfect from families and older folks, but is a bit far from the airport.

Jewel Runaway Bay Resort: Will Return!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Jewel. Check in could have went a bit smoother. Room was clean and comfortable. Beach was stunning. Sand was soft and thick. Ocean was a bit rough for my small children but could have just been the time of year we were there(late November). Food at the buffet was fine. Not remarkable but not bad either. Resort was fully booked but it is spread out enough that we NEVER had a problem getting a chair at any time of day at the pools, park or beach. Lots of umbrellas and shade. Everything was easily within a very short walk of the room. Staff were very friendly and accommodating.

Catalonia Montego Bay: Lovely

Nov. 26 - Dec. 3, 2017. The resort was lovely, clean and well kept. It is small and everything is close by, the beach, buffet, Jerk Hut, bars, etc. The staff were friendly and house keeping came into our room everyday. There are no mini fridges in the rooms but you can request one. The water is not recycled and you can drink the water from the tap in your room. No tummy troubles at all! The front desk even called after to make sure that everything was working properly. The beach water is clear and calm. Definitely kid friendly. There was a lot of weeds in the water. There was always something to eat. The breakfast buffet was from 7am to 10am. Then the Barefoot bar started serving food at 11am. Hamburgers, grilled cheese, and fried fish. At noon the Jerk Hut served jerk pork and chicken. So yummy. We will go back.

I booked this hotel resort because i was celebrating my birthday and I thought it would be a great idea to celebrate in jamaica. the entertainment is top notch. have had way better experience at a different resort. however to each his own,. I know that the staffs performance is mediocre. I noticed the way they treat a certain class of guests as compared to how they treat the other. not even an acknowledgement on my birthday wow. If my friends book this hotel they would do so on their own choice. The food selections are the same not much choices. my experience at this resort was was not the best period. It was great vacation, second time to this resort, food, room, staff all were awesome, will return again and again to this resort 😊 Beach was small, but very lovely. Staff could not do enough to help you,

Riu Montego Bay: Montego Bay Riu

I happily recommend this property. The staff were FANTASTIC. The food was GREAT! The Grounds were kept in amazing condition. The beach is well kept, but the swimming is a little off, in the water it is a little slimy on the bottom due to what appears to be a break wall that minimizes the natural flow of the ocean. Complex #1 was also musty/mouldy smelling. When told of this, the front desk immediately moved me to another room, which was perfect. Bahia Principe Escape Runaway Bay: Luxury Bahia Principe Resort

When we first arrived around 7 pm, I noticed that the sliding door would not lock. I showed the Bell Hop and he said he would notify maintenance. When we came back 3 hours later and the door was still not fixed. I tried to call the front desk and the concierge but no answer. I walked down to the front desk and spoke to the person there. They sent someone up and repaired the door lock at 11 30 pm. The next day we found there was no cold water. I called the front desk and again no answer. I called [... read more] several times. There was no cold water for a day and 1/2. 3 days later when we were at the pool a staff member came by and apologized for the water issue. She said the resort would give us access to the spa or we could receive a credit for purchase from one of the 3 stores on site. The credit was $70usd. We chose the credit. This is supposed to be a luxury 5 star resort. The bar service at several locations were terrible. If you were not prepared to tip you were the last one to be served. I witnessed a confrontation between a staff member (bar tender) and a senior customer. I had to speak up and tell the bar tender that he could not be talking like that to his customer. He should not be raising his voice and arguing with the customer. He agreed and things calmed down. The customer then went to the front desk to complain. The noise from the hallways was very loud. You could hear people from the rooms telling the people in the halls to be quiet. It did not feel like a luxury 5 star resort. On a good note, we were able to eat at 6 of the Ala-cart restaurants. The meals were very good. The beach area was nice and so were the pools. However the pools needed to be cleaned, I noticed the same debri at the bottom of the pool for several days. The under water lighting was missing a fixture and the tiles were falling off. I do believe the resort was under staffed for the amount of visitors there. Some of the people we met were complaining about the poor room service and lack of face towels and shampoo. This is NOT a Luxury 5 Star Resort.

Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: Grande Bahia Principe Runaway Bay Jamaica

It was a very large resort the whole area was kept very clean. Staff was very friendly. They went out of their way to assist you with any problems you might have. Very polite too Food was awesome. Nightly shows were done to reflect there culture. It had a few downs like no AC in the hallways slow elevators. Beach was very nice beautiful waters crystal clear If you wanted to snorkel lots to see and do. Good place for a wedding too. They drive like the British do on the left side. Riu Ocho Rios: Another Great Stay at the Riu

Room was very nice. (upgraded due to returning many times) Grounds and pool in great shape Beach was awesome as usual Food could have had more variety but certainly didn't go hungry Staff friendly and helpful

Sandy Haven: The best in this strip

If you are looking for close to the caliber of an all-inclusive, but in a small hotel, this would qualify. However, you need to understand that everything is relative. If you are not familiar with Jamaica and the typical standards of the area, then you may rate this hotel lower compared to other islands and/or all-inclusives. However, we know what is available (outside of an all-inclusive), and this is definitely much higher standards comparative to the other hotels around. Sandy Haven's rooms a [... read more]re newer and modern, elsewhere you will find the typical rustic circa 1960 bedspreads, tube TVs and rusted facets etc. We did have a few issues with shower and sink draining, which were promptly fixed. Sadly, we never got a 'hot shower', but usually got a nice warm one. The location cannot be beat. Right in the middle (equal distance left and right) of all the action. There are A LOT of beach vendors, which typically don't harass you, but you do get tired of saying 'no' at least 5 times an hour. The hotel does have security which make sure the vendors move along. Overall it was a good trip. P.S. I would not recommend this place for kids.

Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: Good resort

Generally good resort. Management was very reluctant to move us to another room when ceiling in our room began to drip water in the middle of the night, likely because of a burst air conditioning pipe.

Riu Reggae: Riu Reggae and Riu Negril

Until the Reggae hotel was flooded and we were transferred to Riu Negril, it was wonderful. Both were 5 star all inclusive resorts, but what a difference in staff conduct. At the Reggae the staff were very attentive and inclined to go to great measures to please you. The staff at Negril, with a couple of exceptions, were more interested in socializing with each other than in doing their work. We were made to feel that we were an inconvenience to them. Iberostar Waves Rose Hall Beach: Decent, but would not return

The hotel itself wasn't horrible, however it should have been updated probably 10+ years ago.The rooms are extremely outdated, and there was excessive mold over the entire ceiling on the shower, likely due to the fact that there was zero ventilation within the bathroom or the room itself. The tub also got just over half full while showering before starting to drain, which I found quite gross. Despite this, the room was clean and the housekeeping was great. While the shows at night were okay, there was really nothing done throughout the day to get guests involved. The food however was by far the worst we have ever had. The buffet was never replenished, everything seemed to be a day or two old, never "fresh". We had a decent dinner at the steak house, and great dinner at the Japanese but that was it. By the second day we figured it was just once of those "oh it's just today it will get better" but no, it was all week. Once we finished eating in the airport before heading home, we agreed that was probably the best meal that we had had all week. At the end of the day, we did have a great time but with what we spent on our vacation, we certainly expected more out of the resort. While we had a great time, we will not be returning.

Iberostar Waves Rose Hall Beach: Good Resort

This was a fun resort. The grounds were pretty and rooms were nice. The beach resort has an older feel. It was nice that it was smaller with easy access to all areas and directly on the beach. Staff were mostly nice, however some felt a bit pushy and there was a lot of pressure to tip constantly. Not a lot of shopping opportunities for local goods.

We enjoyed our stay at the Iberostar Beach in Jamaica. The staff were delightful and the rooms very comfortable and clean. We enjoyed the food at the steak house the best. The buffet was okay but did not have enough variety for us.
