Barcelo Maya Palace: Incredible trip

Best hotel I’ve stayed at yet! We stayed in an oceanfront room. Beautiful room, gorgeous grounds- the staff work very hard to make everything perfect. The buffet and a la cartes were delicious and had an amazing assortment of Mexican cuisines- the children’s section had a great assortment as well. I would recommend this resort in an instant.

Hotel Castillo Huatulco: You Definitely Get What You Pay For!!!!!! STAY AWAY

This was the worst holiday that we have ever experienced which makes us realize that you definitely get what you pay for. The nightmare began two days before we left. When we booked last minute, we were not made aware that the hotel pool was to be shut down during our stay, for a scheduled maintenance and repair. It had to be retiled and regrouted. We definitely would not have booked this vacation if we had have known this in advance of booking. Air Canada Vacations sent us a memo regarding [... read more] this issue 2 days before departure. This made the only other pool (at the beach club) severely overcrowded, so we were unable to swim in the 34 degrees Celsius heat. Also the ocean's undertow made it impossible to swim there. As for the hotel, the exterior looked nice but that was as far as that went. The inside is dingy and dark. It feels like walking into a basement! The rooms are very basic (white) with little decor. The beds were comfortable, which was a good thing as severe food poisoning put us in them for 3 days straight. The restaurant served a small selection of basic food which overall was terrible. We noticed that they were recycling food. Breakfast included dried up broccoli, meatballs and cut up hot dogs (they were calling sausages) which had been served at dinner on previous nights. One dinner included chicken wings which we mistakenly ate at the beach club buffet the following day at lunch which brought on our food poisoning. Also the hotel restaurant was crowed and noisy. Most of the hotel staff ignored us and catered to their Mexican guests (which was 90% of the hotel clientele). This might be a language issue as most staff didn't speak any English. The ones that attempted were tipped well. The only plus side is that the hotel is right in the town of Santa Cruz and a short walk to restaurants, the town square and the public beach (which is where we had to cool off).

Canto Del Sol: unfortunate odor in villa area

The hotel was clean, food good, staff very friendly. Unfortunately we stayed in the villa area which is an easy walk across a foot bridge but we got a sewer like smell on a daily basis. It would not last long but was very unpleasant. The location of the hotel was good, it was an easy walk to the boardwalk (Malecon). The beach was terrible (coarse sand and steep drop) and the entertainment was limited.

Barcelo Maya Caribe: Nice resort!

Our second trip to Barcelo Caribe. Large resort with lots to do. Beautiful grounds, well maintained. Standard room basic and had everything we needed. Beach is long with some Sandy and some rocky parts. Was a very windy week for us so ocean good for wave jumping but not great for snorkelling or water sports. Nice volleyball courts, pickleball courts and corn Hole. This trip was in March which we would NOT do again. Spring breakers from the US were loud partiers. We got no sleep for 2 days and th [... read more]e front desk inferred this was pretty normal. Everything was very busy and seemed understaffed. Wasn’t like this the last time we went. Many Staff seemed tired and not very happy. We would definitely go again, but not in March.

Buenaventura Grand Hotel and Great Moments: Nice spot

Hotel was right on the main road so lots of shops as well as the boardwalk. Our first room was on the main level by the lobby & so noisy. After 2 nights we were able to switch to the second floor but there was only a window, no balcony. Rooms are clean & modern. Beach is very rocky & not swimmable due to the undertow. Barcelo Maya Caribe: Impressive Resort

This was our first time at a large resort and loved all the activity options, the beautiful grounds, excellent restaurants, pools and beach front, walking paths and weather! The mall area and Mexican market were also a great evening option to stroll through.

Generations Riviera Maya: Very disappointed

We are a family of 4 . 2 adults and 2 teenage kids . There is absolutely nothing to do after 9:30.pm ant the hotel. Entertainment if you can call it that is at 8:30 and ends 9:15. There is nothing at the hotel after 9:30 not even a bar or coffee shop open. No music NOTHING. Only 3 restaurants one of them has only Indian food. If you are not a fan of that you are left with 2 restaurants for which you have to make reservations. This resort is popular with weddings . We were woken up at 9AM be [... read more]cause a wedding party had their event early in the morning with very loud music which was provided by the hotel staff. Very disrespectful to other guests . Did not like it at all will never return. Also it is very very small hotel , you can’t even walk around in the evening there is only pool area and the back of the hotel .

Barcelo Maya Caribe: Huge resort

I spent 1 week at barcelo with my husband and 2 teen/tween daughters. We've been to a dozen all inclusive and this was by far the largest complex we've ever stayed at. The complex was beautiful, very clean with gorgeous beach and pools. We found our superior room to be extremely tiny and dated. Smaller than most resorts. The food was fine, not the best but it was plentiful and available everywhere. My kids loved the food. The activities and onsite shopping was fun. No need to leave the resort, t [... read more]hey had everything. I found the staff a little unfriendly, but I may have been spoiled at past resorts with extra pleasant staff. Overall it was a nice resort, just a little overwhelming big. They do accept large groups, so at times certain bars, restaurants or pools can become crowded, but there was always space to move to less busy areas.

Ocean Coral and Turquesa: Food poisoning

Whole family got food poisoning from the buffet. Will never go back to this resort. The only enjoyable experience was the daisyclub for the kids. The teachers were attentive and caring. Carla is amazing.

Barcelo Maya Tropical: Outstanding resort and service!

The resort was exemplary and very family friendly. There were a lot of activities to do on the resort. The pools were amazing. Food was fabulous and the beach was outstanding. I would recommend this resort to anybody who wants to have a great time in Cancun.

Decameron Los Cocos Guayabitos Ramada: We had a great vacation.

We have vacationed at Decameron Los Cocos many times. This was our best experience yet. Our room was fine with a comfortable bed, good pillows, and was clean. Cleaning staff did a good job. Mobility issues were taken into consideration and we were given a room in the in the best location for us. We had a room right beside a pool and my wife used it daily - sometimes twice. The pool was warmer than in previous years. The menu had been changed and food was good. We could always find things [... read more] we liked. As usual, Flora was cheerful and made great omelettes, with a large variety of ingredients to choose from. Flora remembered us from previous vacations, and was very welcoming. At The Tropical, the restaurant we regularly ate at, all staff were friendly and helpful, especially Jose and Reyna. Not all staff spoke extremely fluent English, but many were trying to improve their English skills. We never had trouble communicating our needs. All staff and management people were very friendly and helpful. The beach was great and the ocean water was very warm. We felt safe and comfortable walking around Guayabitos. The weather was excellent every day. We required help with mobility needs, and West Jet service at the airports, and in the planes was excellent. We look forward to returning next winter.

Iberostar Waves Paraiso del Mar: Beautiful resort; great time!

This was our 4th time at this resort and once again, we had a fabulous time. There are now 3 dedicated routes for transportation, one for each resort, (green, blue and purple) where golf cart drivers will pick you up while walking on the path. My only recommendation for this is that during breakfast and dinner there should be more carts available which would mean shorter wait times. Also, a bench at the side lobby on Del Mar would be very helpful while waiting for a cart to arrive. The grou [... read more]nds are beautiful and well maintained as are the buildings and rooms. Everything is very clean and the staff are very pleasant and helpful. The pools are incredible; also very clean and well maintained. Lots of comfortable loungers are available around the pools and at the beach. The food in the buffet was excellent with a large selection. The restaurants we dined in were also excellent except for the Smoke House (didn't care too much for that). The food and service in the Mediterranean and Italian was excellent. The entertainment in the theatre this time was great. We noticed an improvement in the productions. We especially enjoyed the Mexican show; it was beautiful. The entertainment team does a great job in providing lots of things to do. However, we found the music at the "party pool" to be very loud every day, especially when they had the "Pool Party" on Tuesday. We had to leave that area because of the extreme noise. Even people in building 19 (near the front of the resort) complained about the intense noise.A not so positive change in the resort is that the previous "quiet area" has been changed to "members only" area. This is unfortunate because, as previously mentioned, the music in the pool area can be pretty loud, so this was a nice area to go...not anymore. It would be great if dancing after 8 was offered. "Dance lessons" is posted almost nightly but many times we were disappointed because staff didn't show up. These lessons were mostly Salsa, Merenge, etc. No need for constant lessons, just put on the music (any music) and encourage people to dance. We especially enjoyed the daily Zumba class at 3 pm with Jesus. He was great. The beach is gorgeous; long and wide with white powder sand and lots of loungers under the palapas. All in all, the vacation was great and would definately recommend this resort. We plan to be back next year.

Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya: Paradise

The Grand Sirenis is a beautiful resort. It is a very large resort with lots of pools and plenty of beach. Lots of loungers in the sun and in the shade to accommodate everyone. The restaurants were amazing with a wide variety of foods for different palates. The lobby bar made the best drinks and had the best bartenders and servers. There was a wide variety of activities including tennis, pickleball, soccer, biking, hiking, kayaking, snorkeling, etc. There was lots of wildlife on the property, to [... read more]o: spider monkeys, koatis, raccoons,etc. and even domestic cats. A free dolphin show completed our enjoyable experience. Housekeeping kept our room impeccably clean.

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Wonderful resort

The hotel was very clean, food was good, and service was excellent! We were greeted with open arms and all the information needed to have a great stay - Roberto and Armando made sure of that. The bar staff were excellent and very friendly and attentive. We never had to wait long for any service. The golf is a must and the Mayan massage was the best!!

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Fabulous Resort

We were very happy with all aspects of what the resort had to offer. Food, room, staff, services and entertainment were fabulous. We met wonderful people and there was so much to do. The beach area was very clean and well kept.

Catalonia Yucatan: Didn't meet the expectations

Started with transportation from airport to resort. Have to wait 2 hours at a parking lot for the bus. For question How soon bus will come, answer was Very soon... Dinner reservation online didn't work

Grand Decameron Complex Bucerias Trademark: Great hotel

Very Mexican. Sprawling resort with many places to have quiet and many places to go and explore. Staff were very pleasant and helpful to us. Food choices were many and always available. There were many Canadian people and many Mexican families as well. Everyone seemed to enjoy the hotel. Rooms were good sized and always well looked after. Thanks Elisa! Grand Palladium Colonial: Fabulous Time at the Grand Palladium Colonial

We just got back from 7 days at the Grand Palladium and had a wonderful time. Keep in mind that this 5 star review is for what I would expect of a hotel in Mexico - it is not a 5 star Vegas Hotel but is very enjoyable. Loved the grounds, which were beautiful and immaculate, and the shows in the evening were really well done. Having the wrist bands - that also worked as your door key - great idea. You could walk around key free. We had no trouble getting loungers or finding shade - on [... read more]e of the things I was worried about - lots of tiki huts and palm trees everywhere. If you have chosen to spend a week here - a couple of things that might help make your trip as good as ours: 1. If you really care about updated rooms - consider staying at White Sands or one of the newer hotels - our room was still fine but showed some ware. 2. I recommend bringing a floaty of some kind - the Colonial pool is 5 feet deep - that doesn't sound deep but I would have had to tread water the entire time I was in the pool (as many people did) and that just isn't relaxing. Lots of people love the depth of the water - for swimming and jumping in but it isn't for everyone. Also, brink something to float your drinks on from the pool bar back to your chair. Really hard to hold drinks up and swim. :) 3. Bring your insulated cups - it is hot and drinks get warm really quickly. Also the bartenders will make your drink in your cup for you. Yum.

Grand Decameron Complex Bucerias Trademark: Royal Decameron

The Royal Decameron did not disappoint. We had stayed there 10 years ago for several years in a row and then switched it up for other areas of Mexico. Being back felt like home. The resort is so clean, the staff are bar none the best, and food and drink were even better than I remember. Such an easy going atmosphere, great pools and great beach access. Sandos Finisterra Los Cabos: Very nice

Our stay was very nice. We enjoyed all of it. The room was nice and the grounds were beautiful. The activities crew were very friendly. Entertainment was fun. Food was good. The alcoholic drinks could have been a little stronger.
