Sol Varadero Beach: Sol Sirenas Coral - disappointment
I love Cuba - this was my 8th visit. I knew this hotel was rated 3.5 stars - but I still expected a bit more. The first clue something was wrong is that there were no representatives from Air Transat at all. We were given a phone number in case we had questions. There was no meeting with the rep, no talk about excursions - zero. I was afraid to even touch the lamp in our room as I thought it would fall apart. It was old, rusted and leaning towards one side. The room was clean - but everyt [... read more]
Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Love this resort!
The grounds are beautiful and very well groomed. Mature palm trees and flowering shrubs everywhere. The beach has gorgeous white sand. If you enjoy snorkeling there is a coral reef a short swim away. The food was great, especially at the A la Carte restaurants. We had breakfast every morning overlooking the beach in a quiet outdoor eating area. The rooms are nice and clean. The only complaint we had is the air conditioning wasn't working the best. Still a great experience.
Melia Las Dunas: Will definitely go back!
We loved this resort. The entertainment staff was amazing and the hotel staff were very friendly. The beach was beautiful, the room was clean, the meals were good with a great amount of different food to choose from.
Paradisus Rio De Oro: Beautiful Beach!
I just returned from spending 9 days at Paradisus and it was a really good vacation. I went solo (in a resort of mostly couples) and never once felt unsafe as a single woman there. The average age of people staying here was about 45-55 (I'm 51), so although it's not the place to come for Spring Break or if you're looking to party all night, it's PERFECT for relaxing on the gorgeous beaches and getting pampered by the friendly staff!
Melia Buenavista: Great resort, however...
This was our second visit. Even though there was hurricane devastation very little could be found on this resort. It was immaculate and most eveything was as it was before. Tennis was still shut down. Most exercise equipment was damaged. We were there during the week that the Melia President was there. Food and services seemed to improve significantly once the Melia President announced his arrival.
Sol Cayo Santa Maria: Amazing Resort
Just came back from Sol Cayo Santa Maria our stay was from April 25 to May 04, 2018. this was our third time at this resorts. We had a wonderful relaxing week. I will say the room was dated, but the staff is super friendly. At the buffet they were very helpful especially Oscar The A La Carte Poncho supplied a very good service. The Lobby bar Sandy was exceptional The food was good. We would go back in a heartbeat.
Paradisus Varadero: Disappointed
As usual the Cuban people are wonderful. Attentive, happy, friendly. The hotel grounds and landscaping are superb. The beach without peer. And then the problems begin and they are numerous. The rooms. We had two. The furnishings were old. That's ok it's Cuba. Several lights were out and reading was difficult. In the first few days very little hot water was available. One shower didn't work. One toilet didn't flush. Later neither toilet flushed but wastebaskets full of water served us well. [... read more]
Sol Palmeras: Fantastic resort!
I absolutely loved this resort! The food was way better than expected with plenty of restaurants and buffet to choose from. Resort was beautiful, more or less clean and had plenty of activities to do. The maids did a great job cleaning the rooms although the shower pressure was lacking and cold. Overall amazing resort for Cuba.
Melia Las Dunas: Nice place
All around it was a nicer resort than some of the ones I have previously stayed at. Some of the buildings are a bit older than others but it did the job it needed. The staff were amazing they remember who you are right away. And it was nice to have a shuttle service cause our room was the farthest away from the lobby.
Hotel Camino del Mar: Fabulous Resort
The hotel was great, rooms were lovely, food was great, the beach bar had an amazing lunch every day, beach was unreal. Everything was close, which is what we like, so hopping from the pool, to beach, to rooms, to buffets was no problem. Staff were friendly. I would recommend this hotel no problem.
Melia Peninsula Varadero: Good
Beach: is breathtaking, stayed most of the time at the beach. There's not enough Sun shade on the beach. Food: Not too bad, and not so good. Got tired of eating the same food. Didn't want to try raw vegetables. Servers at the buffet: Best service from Anabella & Lielet. You need to be at the buffet restaurant as soon as they open up. Always run out of butter. Room: Need to update room, especially the bathroom. The room that we first checked in, smelled like cigarette smok [... read more]
Melia Marina Varadero: Amazing Experience!
My wife and I were fortunate to have a fifth floor suite on the east corner facing the pool. It was an amazing view and from the moment we got there all the staff was helpful and welcoming and made us feel very comfortable. The short walk or ride with “Ricco “ you have the Beautiful beach right there with all the same services as the hotel has. It was a beautiful amazing experience in Cuba and we will be visiting there again.
Paradisus Varadero: Great Spot!
I really enjoyed everything about this resort. Love the way everything is located Oceanside! The room was clean and roomy. Deck was a lovely size and grounds were well kept. Great food too! I would definitely go back!
Sol Palmeras: Excellent trip. Resort with good balance of activities for all ages.
It is a great place for a group of 10 friends to spend the week, whether it be taking advantage of the many activities offered, partying during the day or at night, or simply relaxing. The bungalows are very nice, and a great layout with both a bedroom and living space. Great resort! Highly recommend!
Sol Palmeras: Amazing resort with the friendliest Cuban staff!
Clean and fun with a laid back Cuban attitude that I needed in a vacation! I would recommend this to every Canadian traveller at any age! We, university graduates had a blast and a half in Cuba because of this resort and the beautiful Cuban people! ðŸ‘🇨🇺
Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Wonderful vacation spot!
Just returned on April 27th, 2018 from a week's stay at the Sol Rio de Luna y Mares Resort, and we loved every minute of it! As most reviews mentioned, the resort is an older one and they have just begun the renovation process, which, we were told would take apx. 3 years to complete. The rooms were dated, had some wear and tear, but always kept clean. The staff was always friendly, courteous and smiling, ready to help. The beach is gorgeous, clear turquoise blue waters, lots of shade with mature [... read more]
Paradisus Rio De Oro: Beautiful resort!
The grounds are beautifully maintained...congratulations to the groundskeepers. Would love a list of the plants/trees online so that I can check on ones we were interested in. Also, the bird population is varied and plentiful. Loved the presence of the three birds of prey...great idea! Can anyone tell me how Maria is doing...she had an eye problem that required vet support. we enjoyed the separate sections of the pool - smart idea! We found the food had a better selection than ot [... read more]
Paradisus Varadero: Amazing Beach
Food not as good as it was last year.Staff is absolutely wonderful from maid to servers and beach staff.Entertainment was a lot of fun.Check in went much smoother than it did a year ago.Reception staff were very friendly and helpful.
Melia Las Dunas: Good place !
Well, the experience was 4 / 5 ! Beach, animations, employes and environment were very good. Lot of space made de place suitable for many hundred people. Kitchen and lobby are spacious and very convenient for activites and chilling and when raining. But, seemingly, the buildings (kitchen and rooms) are slowly but surely deteriorating. When raining, water leaks in the kitchen. It was sad because the place look very nice. First room we had, it smell mold coming from air conditionning. We decide t [... read more]
Melia Jardines del Rey: Amazing Beach!
The beach was the best part! Clean white sand! No rocks in the water. The hotel grounds could use some updating: paint jobs, rust maintenance, landscaping to prevent flooding when it rains. Rooms were clean and current. Great views. Bar fridge was stocked, although water restocking was missed a couple of times. Ran into towel shortages. Staff was great and most could speak English; they were pleasant and proffesional. Buffet food and buffet cleanliness could use some work--mediocre at best. Dead [... read more]
