Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: WITHOUT A DOUBT THE WORST EXPERIENCE IN 12 VISITS TO CUBA

THE HOTEL LOOKED FINE, IT SHOULD ITS NEW. STAFF AT FRONT DESK AND AT THE BARS THE ONLY THING GOOD. MY PHONE WAS STOLEN WITHIN 2 HRS OF BEING THERE FROM AROUND THE POOL. RITE OUT OF MY BAG, WITH SECURITY CAMERAS POINTED RITE WHERE MY BAG WAS. BUT THE MANAGES FELT IT NESSARY TO LIE AND TELL ME THERE WERE NO CAMERAS AT THE POOL. WHY???? THATS WHAT ID LIKE TO KNOW. SPENT THE NEXT 3 DAYS MEETING WITH STAFF MGMT AND SECURITY TO RETRIEVE MY PHONE. TOTAL INCOMPETENCE. ITHEY SUGGESTED THEIR SECURITY DEAL [... read more] WITH IT INSTEAD OF POLICE. WHY???? DAM GOOD QUESTION. THEN TO BE TOLD THAT THE CAMERA POINTING RITE AT MY BAG PICKED UP NOTHING AFTER 3 DAYS OF BS. NOT INPRESSED. AS FAR AS THE RESTAURANTS. 1/2 WERE CLOSED EVERY NIGHT. THEY HAD A BUFFET WITH THE EXACT SAME FOOD IN SAME SPOTS EVERY LUNCH AND DINNER. NOT A SHRIMP HOT OR COLD TO BE FOUND. IVE STAYED AT 2 1/2 STARS THAT HAVE SHRIMP EVERY DAY JUST LIKE EVERY OTHER HOTEL IN MY 12 PREVIOUS STAYS. THEN WAS EMERG EVACUATED OUT THURSDAT THE 7TH WITH 2 HRS NOTICE AT 2AM TO PACK AND GET TO THE BUS. OTHERE THERE WERE GIVEN THE OPTION TO RIDE OUT THE STORM, WHY NOT GIVEN A CHOICE? WHO KNOWS. THE PLACE WAS A BAD JOKE FROM START TO FINISH.

Gran Muthu Cayo Santa Maria: Nice Resort, Beautiful Beach!

Resort - Very well maintained resort. The resort was a medium size resort, not too big. Nice pools and amazing views! Mosquitos were terrible!! Hot and humid weather caused a lot of mosquitos - bug repellant and hotel spraying did not seem to deter these bugs! Bring lots of bug spray and maybe some citronella candles Rooms - we upgraded to a Suite! Amazing views from the balcony - and super close to the beach. We were in Building 9. Amazing rooms for Cuba standards. We had two bathrooms - lar [... read more]ge shower and Jacuzzi tub. The suite also had upgraded amenities and large sitting and dining area. Real king size bed with lots of room! Glad we upgraded. Restaurants - Food is not good. Pretty much standard Cuba food. Pizza by the beach and BBQ at lunch. Not much to choose from. Drinks were cold and had lots of variety. We were in off-season, so some of the restaurants were closed. Book your reservations for a-la-carte early! Entertainment - was okay. Nothing great. They should have had more activities and theme nights - but again, it was off season. It would have been nice to sit in the lobby, but the mosquitos made that difficult to enjoy. Beach - this was AMAZING!! Beach is beautiful - with white sand beach and lots of seating. Water was super warm and the sunshine was great! Ride to the resort was a bit far, but if you are expecting the long bus ride it's not too bad. Bus is air conditioned and comfy. Staff was also helpful and friendly. A bit of a language barrier with the front desk staff at times, but overall it was okay. Some changes to note - beach towels are not available in the suites and there is no 24hr room service available. Overall we enjoyed the vacation - even with Hurricane Irma approaching!

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: My favourite Cuban resort

Iberostar Ensenachos is my preferred resort and I have returned 3 times for good reasons: comfortable accommodations, two stunningly pristine beaches, excellent food compared to most Cuban resorts, friendly service and wonderful live Cuban music + entertainment.

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Family section

The hotel was clean. The food was good, and the pool was great. The staff were friendly and helpful. I would return to this hotel for sure. We stayed in the family section of the resort and the children's pool was really cool. My son had a blast there. The only real complaint I have about this resort is the restaurant at the pool. Service was very slow. The waitresses and waiters we had in the buffet were really great. We sat in their section all the time. We had a great time here.

Dhawa Cayo Santa Maria: Very good hotel. New!!!

It was amazing one week at Dhawa. We loved everything about this hotel. It is new and very good. Rooms are very spacious and clean, comfortable beds. Food was very good for Cuba. Beautiful beach and nice ocean. For sure we will be back!

Gran Muthu Cayo Santa Maria: Beautiful resort

It's very nice resort for family and kids. Good experiance with sugar cane jus squeezed in front of your eyes. Not the best entertainment but pleasant. We loved it and enjoyed the resort. Tropical fruits like mangoes, guava, coco i enjoyed it the most.

Royalton Cayo Santa Maria: Super resort

Very Nice room, great pool and extraordinairy beach. Everything is super clean. Foods is so so and repetive and service is very slow especialy at noon a the restaurant and extremly slow and désorganised at the snackbar. Fortunatly we had access to the Memories buffets and restaurants for breakfast lunch and diner

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Nice resort! but needs improvements for a 5 star hotel.

Nice new resort, clean and large facility. updated washrooms were nice. we had the ocean view, but i wouldn't pay extra again for a very far view of ocean. there are quite a few details that could be improved, and we found was lacking compared to even lower star rating hotels. great beach! specially on the west side of resort (oeste) we heard the east side is very rocky. AC is very weak, they have a ceiling fan, but does not help at all. Pillows are uncomfortable. Food was ok. nice variety [... read more], but flavour was lacking. Service at buffet was slow, had to ask for cutlery most of times. Lots of locals on the week we went. all good, except they are not very polite while lining up for buffet and left plastic cups around the pool. straws and cups made it to the pool. can be frustrating. beach towels were not available for two days, so we used same towels, but luckily we brought our own towels. definitely not a 5 star hotel. i would rate as 4 because of the nice building.

Memories Paraiso: awesome beach

I have been to this resort 7 times grand azul paridiso it needs lots of repairs. the gardens are nice gardeners friendly. tried Italian but didn't like it most things they didn't have . the buffet is best at breakfast so dont sleep in. diamond lunch was good at Mediterranean. Ruebin Denny Danny boy great bartenders. Lilly Luis Has many wonderful in diamond club. the resort is full of bosses and keeps changing managers i don't agree with this as things aren't getting fixed. Playa Cayo Santa Maria: Unhappy stay at Playa Cayo Santa Maria

We stayed in this resort from Aug 23th-30th in building #7! It was three adults and three kids,two rooms one facing garden view and the other "dirty" pool view ! Main Pool was close for renovation,but when we booked our tryp nobody told us about that We was disappointed,but they told us there is another 3 pools so they put smile on kids faces but that did not last Pools was filted dirty,plugged from plastic cups,chicken bones,fries and full of chairs because of CUBAN tourist! Gran Muthu Cayo Santa Maria: Not Great Food & Service

1. Booked an ocean view room, got the base junior suite and the lobby employee was saying we never upgraded to ocean view. No apology from the manager and got the room a day after. Both rooms had old beds. Woke up with back pain really early every morning. 2. Don't book a la carte restaurants. They bring the food from the buffet and decorate it. Taste is worse than the buffet. They were saying it was fully booked for 4 days but it was almost empty. Not worth booking restaurants. 3. Not eve [... read more]ryone but lots employees don't have good attitude. Amazing beach and affordable price, these were the plus . Not so great to go with kids if food is a consideration.

Playa Cayo Santa Maria: Not going back anytime soon

So...I don't think of myself as fussy, but I was not a ll a fan of this resort. First, my bed sheets were NOT fresh when we arrived. They smelled of urine. There were also black hairs on my son's toothbrush one morning that I can't even think about. There was a leak in the room; none of the bed sheet were stain-free; because of the lack of fitted sheets, I often woke on plastic; the air conditioner was extremely loud, always giving a house-waking "ga-gunk" every time is turned on or off; and we  [... read more]had a couple of things go missing (nothing of particular value as I put all of that in the safe); and there was a blinking light right above the bed. The food was terrible. The same thing every day. Very little in the way of fresh vegetables. Do Cuban people not eat vegetables?! Lots of meat - but not even nice meat. Hot dogs, and dry ham and tough beef. The fish was fatty. So much of it was fried! And everyone I spoke to got diarrhea - some even vomited. We got pizza one day, and it was like someone had smeared cheese whiz on it. I struggled to swallow it when I took a bite. As for the resort itself, the pools were lovely, though the main pool shut down halfway through our stay. I can't say I was too broken up about it, but it seemed odd. There was a pervasive smell of sewage throughout the place that wafted in periodically - perhaps the reason for all the gastro-intestinal difficulties? The beach was very nice. Never any difficulty finding a chair. There is a rocky shelf that one needs to traverse to reach the beach, but that just gave my kid more to keep his attention. I found the volume of the "animacion" a bit much but a trip further down the beach helped with that. Maybe I'm spoiled having been to other resorts, but this one felt like a real "miss." The staff I found very lovely, but really the rooms and food were such a disappointment. ALSO!! I spoke to other people and we compared how much we spent. I payed literally DOUBLE what another woman paid for her trip despite the fact that we had the same complement of people. I booked through tripcentral and am wondering if I made a mistake in doing that?! I should also also say that it was me and my 4 year old son that went. I left him at the kids club one day, and when I came back, he was in front of the tv watching a robbery movie with guys in masks and guns. And they gave him ice cream. Not the worst thing, but I would like to have been asked ahead of time if it was ok. Overall, I would not go back. If you are looking for a relaxing vacation, go somewhere else. There are definitely better options.

Melia Buenavista: Very Good

Overall the hotel was very good and staff very accommodating. We were aware there was only two choices for dining in the evening. I would put the food in category of good with the fish being the standout. The lunch time pool pizza and BBQ was very good , only issue they sometimes had issues getting a few of the toppings.

Melia Las Dunas: Nice Beach, fairly clean environment, below expectation on service

The hotel was clean, food was way better than our expectation for Cuba (not much verity though), but where the hotel fell short was on service. At the pool and beach you had to walk up to the bar to get your drink. No waiters would walk around to take your drink orders. The pool snack bar opens late and closes at 4pm. You have to walk quite a bit to get food if you want to spend the late afternoon at the beach. You could not bring back food back to the pool chair, so you had to sit dine at  [... read more]the pool snack bar, but this also helps to keep the pool area clean. The best part of the resort was the beach. Clean, shallow and crystal clear waters. There were some small jellyfishes to be found, be aware of your surroundings when you are in the water. Night entertainment was good, most of the show were well done.

Melia Buenavista: Relaxing resort

Attentive staff, beautiful beaches and great room. We were looking for a laid back, relax atmosphere which was achieved. We would recommend this resort to couples wanting to recharge their batteries!

Memories Paraiso: Good Resort

Overall the resort is ok. There are a lot of things that can be improved. The entertainment staff is amazing and make the whole experience so much fun! There are other things however such as the dirty pool, bugs in room and lack of variety in food which make the resort just ok. There were some minor improvements in food from the last time I went a few months ago. The entertainment makes the resort enjoyable!!!!

Memories Paraiso: Memories Hotel

The hotel was ok but we weren't happy with the roches we found in our rooms. The food was not that good. And it was always the same things every night. But we enjoyed the entertainment staff they were always nice and happy and on the go all the time. We want to say hey to Rosbel, Andy, Victor, Anna in the kids club and our bartenders Ray and other. But over all we had a great time and made memories that we took back with us.

Dhawa Cayo Santa Maria: Really Bad

This was our twelfth all inclusive, Sad to say by comparison Dhawa Cayo Santa Maria is the worst by far. The food and the service is not good by any standard. I would not recommend this resort to anyone.

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Stay away from this resort if possible

This resort is rated as a 5 star resort but that rating is inaccurate. We have been to Cuba 16 times and at best this is 3.5 stars. Staff is rude, facilities are worn and beach is far from hotel. They split our group up between buildings on other ends of the resort. The reception would not answer the phone and when you complained about something, it never got resolved. For example, one room was on the first floor and the sliding door to the room would not lock. There was no security to be seen a [... read more]t the resort. It took 2 days and 4 complaints to have someone look at it. Another room had their in room safe locked so they could not use it - took 5 complaints and 3 days before that was addressed.

Dhawa Cayo Santa Maria: An ok resort

The resort is ok need many improvement. The services is very good the crew are amazing and show that they love their job. They are very affectionate and welcoming. The rooms are clean and spacious however the bathrooms need renovations. The whole resort doesn't seem new as they claim to be. Food wise not bad but the grill and sea food restaurant food was over coocjed and dry. French restaurant not bad Italian restaurant was very good. I was surprised to see that there is no sea food in any r [... read more]estaurant or buffet only very small overcoocked shrimps like the one we get at the stores in Canada and we had to pay extra for the lobster. The buffet food is ok but most of the ingredient are processed food. Nothing fresh. I had to ask for mango if I don't ask I don't get. Drinks were not consistent sometimes I get a very good drink and rarely. and when I ask for another one I don't get the same I either get too much alcohol that I can't drink it or get nothing. The pool is not as big as I expected and the beach too small and not as I expect it for Cuba. We were VIP and we get the lowest service. When we ask for a certain plate on the menue sometimes we were told that they don't have it. When I have complained I get the excuse that it is a work in progress. The shower was clogged and when we have complained nothing was done until a day before we have to leave. We were promised a basket and bottle of rhum as we were VIP but all we get a day before we leave is a bottle of rhum and an apology. During the VIP greeting on the second week we were there I was expecting to meet with the GM or sales and marketing manager to talk and discuss about the resort but none or the management came to talk to anyone invited at all they stayed at the bar talking to each other. Finally if I have to rate this resort, it is not a 5 or 4 starts resort it should be 3 stars only, due to many issues, size of beach and pool cheap materials used in constructions and bathrooms are not nice at all. Cleaning need to be better too. Services is perfect. Thanks Suzanne
