Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Not Much to complain about! Good resort

Stayed at this resort as it was a nice looking resort at a great deal with great reviews. Not much to complain about! Went in the first week of February and after the first few days the resort was in full swing almost at maximum capacity and they did not have any Food: Had most everything you could ask for. First few days of our stay were scarce (Feb1st-3rd) with no eggs, french fries, and limited selection at the snack bar. After the 3rd they had everything in with a large snack bar menu [... read more] and tasty buffet selection (although it was repeatative) Club restaurant had good food as did the buffet with the a la cartes i found to be a bit underwhelming. Beach: Absolutely stunning beach. White soft sand and gorgeous views. Beach bar was great and they had lots of styles of boats to use. Only issue with beach is there are areas in the water that are rocky. I dont mean small rocks but actual rock formations under the sand. However once you find the sweet spot there is a large area with no rocks to step on. Resort: The resort itself was the only mixed bag for me. It is an older resort but that does not really hinder the quality it offers. It felt like a small resort that wanted to be big. The layout of the resort itself was much too spread out for the size of it. Although i did really like the main portion by the lobby as everything is close by. They also did their best to make sure the place was freshly up kept (People painting and touching up sun faded paint, gardeners working hard to keep grounds beautiful). Not enough chairs by the pools. Wi-Fi Worked very well. Service: Probably the highlight of the resort is the service quality by all of the staff. All staff were super friendly and prompt. No waiting at the bar for 5 minutes unnoticed or going too far into your meal without a refill. Not much to do in the area besides walk to the pesquero market (which had lots of the stores closed) or take a bus ride that costs 5USD (pay with usd or credit card) to the nearest town in guardalavaca which there also is not too much to do. Overall a decent hotel however not worth top dollar prices. If you can get a deal it is definitely a great spot to go.

Grand Aston Cayo Las Brujas: Great resort

Grounds were well kept . Public washroom were ok.i only used it twice. It's pretty decent resort. Very helpful and friendly stuff. They had great poolside and evening entertainment. We will go again

Grand Aston Varadero Beach Resort: Great vacation

Enjoyed our stay. Check in wasn't great but after we finally got into our room everything was good. Our maid did an amazing job. Nice newly opened resort. Ran fairly well considering only been open 2 months and from what I seen will only get better as improved daily.

Grand Aston Varadero Beach Resort: Amazing resort

The hotel is good, new. The food was the same as everywhere else, we weren’t hungry. The beach is good, the sand is clean. Only there were few sunbeds. We were never able to sunbathe on it. The staff is attentive.

Starfish Jibacoa: Friendly Resort

The Starfish at Jibacoa is a wonderful resort for couples or families The staff is very friendly and care to make your stay the best it can be. The food is very much Cuban cuisine but they do try to make food which children will like. They have bungalow rooms or villa style. There is lots of grass to give it a park like feeling and a very large beach with lots of beach recliners i love going to this resort.

Brisas Del Caribe: Beautiful Brisas! Will go again!

It is a beautiful comfortable quiet spacious place. The hotel is 45 min away from Varadero Airport, right on an awesome white sand beach = the 3rd one on the Varadero stretch, with lots of palapas and beach chairs. Very well maintained green grounds and several different shape and size pools. Unfortunately I visited in January and did not try the water as some "brave" young people did. Nice souvenir stores. Staff is incredibly kind and helpful and will go extra mile to suit your needs and demands. Lots of smiles and good vibes from everyone there. I would not doubt going again if I get the chance but also I recommend it to everyone as one of the very good 3* hotels in Cuba where I went now for 18 time!

Valentin Cayo Cruz: Wonderful Hotel and Holiday

This hotel is beautiful and had almost everything we'd hoped for in our last minute getaway. We chose Cuba mainly for sun, warmth and a beautiful beach, and all for a reasonable price and we were not disappointed. We also wanted to fly from Hamilton versus Toronto so picked Valentin Cayo Cruz versus going elsewhere in Cuba. Our room (6201 in Building 6) was perfectly positioned to see the sun rise every morning and to still catch afternoon sun too. The rain shower was hot and never ran out o [... read more]f water. The king sized bed was huge. Building 6 is also a short walk to everything - the lobby, the beach, and one of the three pools. There are three pools. We chose to lounge by the smallest one as it had fountains instead of music. As for the beach it is beautiful and longggg and the water is clear. The sand is soft away from the water but firm near it, great for strolling along. We walked along it several times, twice for long walks that were up to two hours. It was simply beautiful (except sadly for the collection of washed up old plastic garbage from the ocean that we think is mainly there from the hurricane some years ago). The beach and pool staff were attentive to help us set up our chairs and towels. We knew there might be some food shortages so we went with those expectations. And they did occur, including shortages in wine some days (no wine for 4/7 days), no eggs most of the week, and they ran out of champagne and French fries after our first day (well, this resort did but we heard another resort had no shortages so these might be occurring based on individual decisions at each hotel about budgeting or rationing?). But that said, there were still plenty of options and we ate well every meal and enjoyed many different drinks at the lobby and beach bars including rum, vodka, tequila and beer. The hot Brazilian alcoholic coffee drink served in a champagne glass in the lobby bar was delicious. The beer is best on tap at the lobby bar. There was a steady supply of tea throughout the resort. The coffee was sub par so if you love coffee we suggest bringing some Starbuck instant packs. For meals, we found the best options were at the lunch buffet versus breakfast or dinner although all meals had good options. One luncheon was an outside buffet where roast pork was served- yum! And one lunch had a very tasty seafood paella. We did not sign up for any of the specialty restaurants as we didn't want to stick to a reservation time to eat so we can't comment on how they were. The desserts were very good, especially the vanilla ice cream which we had at every lunch and dinner. There were also fresh pastries, jello, fresh pineapple slices, pears, and leche flan and puddings. We're not much to watch the shows at resorts however watched two shows through the week - one musical and one name that singer/group game show with the audience. Both were well done. The resort was clean and staff were polite. There was toilet paper most times in the common washrooms however still carry tissues as a few times it had run out. We'd come back to this resort. Despite the few shortages, we give it an 8/10.

Grand Aston Varadero Beach Resort: Amazing resort

Beautiful place..bad weather but can’t blame it on the resort…more experience people needed..the staff didn’t have any supervision or guidance… Someone needs to take control and check out the staff duty’s..wine had rum out at 7.00 pm in the main buffet…control needed because they had wine at the bars.. From this experience I don’t want to return to Cuba in the near future…

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Memories Caribe Jan 31- Feb 7

This was our second visit to this resort. Our first time was 7 years ago. Obviously because of Covid and supply issues the hotel has become dated and some maintenance issues but they are really struggling to keep up. Hot water issues in the rooms seemed to be a problem in some buildings although in our building #20, we always had hot water. The buffet always had something to eat. Meats,cheeses,salads,fruit,chicken,pork,rice,amazing potatoes and deserts that all do taste the same but seems to fix the sweet craving. The pizza at the beach is great, either cheese or ham and cheese. Bites bar and grill has great panini sandwiches and deep fried fries, some kind of a hamburger and hot dogs. Bring your own condiments. Rene at the beach bar is wonderful. Lots of vodka,rum,and beer. We didn’t experience any shortage of drinks. Coffee is the best. Cappuccino and Spanish. The Lobby bar is fantastic for service and courtesy. We tipped with cdn $5’s. They love US dollars as well, so you can tip $1’s. Coin is basically worthless to them. Tip and they will remember you and show you how much they appreciate it. We didn’t do Diamond Club but they had a few perks like top shelf liquors and a breakfast room. We didn’t do any a la carte but people that we socialized with recommended them. We didn’t experience any sand fleas or any issues with flies at the buffet although we noticed a few people were bit on the legs. In my opinion, don’t walk on the grass, stay on the walkways. We made friends that we will communicate with and will plan trips with in the future. To us, this is what our vacation is about. Making friends, a beautiful beach, friendly people and an affordable vacation. We also did an off resort visit to Lennies restaurant, 20 mins away, 70.00$ cdn for 2 seafood dinners and a 2 drinks. 30$ return for the classic cab fare and the cabbie waits for you to take you back. We highly recommend it. It includes a bbq Lobster tail, fish, rice and amazing shrimp. We would recommend Cuba to some of our friends but If your a foodie and are expecting Caribbean top shelf, this isn’t for you. This vacation cost under 1800.00 for 2 out of Halifax. We consider we got what we paid for and Yes, we will return to this resort later this year.

Costa Morena: Good times.

Updated rooms, very nice and cozy. Beautiful view of ocean and palms. Good times. Natural beach and clean with umbrellas. Food was very good on arrival late at night. Bar is open late.. Friendly and happy staff.

Vila Gale Cayo Santa Maria: Spectacular

This was my fourth visit to Grand Sirenis. I have been to other resorts. Grand Sirenis is by far the resort I will continue to visit. Pedro from customer care greeting us when we arrived. Making sure our travel went well and that we got settled into our rooms. Pedro always with a smile on his face greeting us whenever he saw us. The rooms were clean. The beach is fabulous. Royalton Cayo Santa Maria: Cuba at its best!

From the moment we stepped off the bus, we were treated royally. Every single staff member was warm and welcoming. Although the rooms could use a bit of a facelift/refresh, they were very clean, and the bed comfortable. People say the food in Cuba isn't good, but the Royalton definitely proves that wrong. This isn't a "party" resort although they do have wonderful entertainment throughout the day. It's a perfect place to go to relax, enjoy the amazing beach, and soak up the sun!

Playa Luxury Cayo Las Brujas: So happy we stayed at Angsana!

beautiful resort! Very clean and beautifully landscaped. the pool was very nice and never had to fight for a chair. Both beaches were amazing and all had a snack bar and bar. pool had bar service come to you which was a nice treat! Also lobby bar outdid themselves with the drinks! Great selection of drinks and nicely presented! Highly recommend!

Melia Internacional: Awesome Resort-Amazing Staff

Jan 31-Feb 7, 2024 - booked Level-Family, oceanview. Make sure you know if you have a premium room or not. Premium rooms have king size bed, otherwise you get two doubles. Food was ample with lots of choices. French fries were hit and miss. Staff, including at buffet were very accommodating with my spouses dairy allergies and buffet chef made him his own pizza with no cheese. Resort looks big and pictures may make you think it’s a long walk to the beach, but it’s really not. Beach bar staff are absolutely amazing!

Grand Memories Holguin: Lovely Hotel

Holguin was experiencing some shortages when we first got there but things did get better. Bring your own toilet paper. Staff is wonderful. Beach is beautiful. However our stay was effected negatively by a drunken man who the admin. staff failed to stop from getting on our return bus. As far as they were concerned he had checked out and they no longer needed to be involved. Putting everyone at risk.

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Could be so much better …

This hotel has sadly seen better days. The grounds are beautifully kept by hardworking staff, but so much else needs to be updated. They were repairing one of the bridges at the main pool, but it was slow going, partly due to the weather. My room, which was in the Privilege section was spacious and clean with a comfortable bed, but the curtains would not close properly and the thermostat was hanging by a wire. AC was not needed as it was cool during my stay but it did work. The staff work so har [... read more]d to keep up, but at the beach restaurant it was so busy during lunch that many people walked out without eating. There were no eggs, no yogurt, no butter, no fresh vegetables and very little fruit, but you won’t starve as there was plenty of fish and meats like chicken and pork. There were so few loungers by the main pool that fights broke out over reserving the chairs. The Privilege section pool got all new loungers which were great. I would say it was worth it to pay a little more to stay in the Privilege section, but you still have to go with an open mind when it comes to the shortages in Cuba.

The hotel is new, nice, spacious and clean throughout. However there’s some ocasional shortage: eg. napkins, cereals, butter, pina colada, martini, Jin-tonic. Food seems to repeat the same very often. But overall they are trying their hardest considering they are new, with not sufficient employees.

Playa Costa Verde: Sweet paradise!!

The hotel is of 27 years old yet it functions like its 10 the staff are over the top in service very clean and well maintained and manicured landscape , the entertainment was very good it was a very festive atmosphere all day and nightly music,food was surprisingly delish my kids and i were content with all the varieties and options ,spectacular beach and pleasant pools .

Gran Muthu Imperial: Good resort with a few issues

Flies at the buffet were thick and inescapable Painting and maintenance required on railings etc. toilets throughout the complex always in disrepair. Soap dispensers often empty Front desk personnel depending on who was on duty struggled in English and could not arrange for support staff to address issues. Beach towel exchange like trying to win the lottery This is not a five star facility
