Brisas Covarrubias: Worst resort I've been to

This resort was very run down, the smell of sewage in the room was only the least of it! I've been to Cuba 9 times and this time gave me my first negative view. The Cubans were really rude and always served first which I found to be completely uncalled for! The only good thing I can say is the weather was amazing! Everything on the resort was falling apart especially the pool. I will go back to Cuba but definitely not this resort!

Sol Turquesa Beach: Good resort.

A lot of the older people in our group where not happy because of the size of the resort. I was fine with it, but be prepared for ALOT of walking. Would prefer less children or none at all. Children where being served at the bars before adults were?? Very clean and friendly resort.

Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Sol Rio de Luna y Mares Review

My family and I stayed at the Sol Rio de Luna y Mares for a week and we had an amazing time! The rooms were nice and clean with quick access to the pool and beach. The staff is welcoming and very friendly. They served us promptly and with care. The animation teams were very exciting to watch. Our favorite to watch was the aqua ballet. We have never experienced anything of the sort and it was an incredible event. The buffet food was wonderful as well as the restaurants. The sand was very fine and the different colors of the water were beautiful! We enjoyed our stay and hope to return soon!!!

Brisas Guardalavaca: Met our expectations and more

The resort is fairly small but we found this worked to our advantage. Everything you need is close by. The premises were very clean and well maintained. The rooms are not brand new (we stayed in the villa section) but they are spacious and clean. The villas are built with a flare of Italian villa witch I found charming. The garden is lush with greenery and is attentively tended every day. The food was great: good diversity, fresh fish every day (and this is a big deal for us since we do not eat any meat), fresh fruit and decent try at fresh salads, the ice-cream - to die for! But what truly made it a great experience for us (family with 9-year-old daughter) was the staff: genuinely nice, friendly but not pushy, very discreet, very competent. This time we really tipped because we wanted to and because we felt well cared for and not because "this is how it's done".

Playa Costa Verde: Great resort

This resort was a well laid out resort,grounds were well maintained. Food was alittle above average for a cuban resort.Beach was beautiful ,no seaweed with lots of good snokeling right in front of the resort.

Brisas Covarrubias: Not great

I travel to Cuba often and have never been disappointed but this hotel was by far the worst. Our room smelt of sewage , power off one night, no water one night the food was inedible we mostly ate potatoes rice and cucumber. This place definitely needs a overhaul. For all the people I'm sure will say it's Cuba don't expect a ritz I don't but this was by far the worst experience along with the flight

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Honest Review

This was our 5th family trip to Cuba so we are somewhat familiar with what to expect. Based on our experience and comparisons with other resorts we have visited we offer the following review: The Good: - grounds and pools are well kept; - lobster dinner is a must [keep in mind that a half lobster (additional $10 cuc) is actually a full lobster and a full lobster (#20 cuc) is actually 2 lobsters]; - romantic dinner along the beachfront is a must ($10 cuc); - specialty coffees (especially the cap [... read more]puccinos) at Ashley's Cafe are amazing; - Rico's Pirate Bar absolutely makes the best drinks by far; - at a minimum upgrade to an ocean view tropical room (strongly recommended); -snorkeling along the reef between Club Amigo and Brisas Resorts was amazing (about 300 metres from shore); - weather was unbelievably beautiful - although the resort is very large it is very manageable if you stay in the main resort building as it is located in the middle of things - close to pools, beaches, buffets, a la cartes, coffee shops, the market area, rico's pizza, bars, etc. The Not so Good: - more front desk staff required and more customer training required; - beaches are not on the same level as other beaches found in the Cayos areas of Cuba; - beaches are decent and segmented by rock outcroppings and also require some serious clean-up (garbage left behind by both tourists and locals) especially along the public beach area; - notable amount of beggars along the main beach and walkways; - resort is tired and showing its age; - do not expect to find a stocked bar fridge in your room (or a bar fridge in most rooms). You will have to pay for your drinking water (luckily very cheap) or use a central water filtering system in the main resort building. This was the first for us in Cuba! - Holguin Airport requires some serious plumbing upgrades - both times we visited this part of Cuba, there were issues with the washrooms which lead to disgusting conditions for users In light of the above, I would still recommend this resort as it offers very good value for the money!

Brisas Guardalavaca: Fantastic Vacation

We had another great vacation at Brisas. The food was excellent and everything surpassed our expectations. Everything from the grounds to the entertainment was super. This was our fourth trip there and it definitely won't be our last. Can't wait to go back.

Playa Pesquero: Good Value

This resort has lovely tropical grounds, large pool, beautiful sand beach, very friendly people. It took a few days to figure out the best restaurants (we liked The Grill for lunch) and drinks were great. Large variety of food, worth it to get your eggs/meat cooked individually at the grills. The service staff are all very nice and accommodating. Romantico for a la carte was a favourite. Don't expect awesome food at the buffets but it's certainly ok for a week. Rooms are a bit outdated but clean [... read more]/beds fairly comfortable and that's what counts. We had a lot of hot water - no cold showers! There were a few ants in the bathroom as we were on the ground level but after a call to the front desk it was taken care of. The lobby is a nice gathering spot near the bar although smoky in the evenings. Great check-in service and the excursion we booked to Holguin and a little fishing town was fun.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Love this resort!

Everything here is great and that is why we returned for our second visit. We have no complaints and would recommend this resort to anyone looking for an inexpensive holiday at a beautiful destination.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: My favorite place in Cuba

I've been 6 times and it just gets better. The bottom line is a fabulous clean sandy beach with delicious crystal clear water. Rooms are fine, unless you're the type that spends all day watching TV while you're there. Food gets better every year, I always gain weight!

Don Lino Hotel: Great little resort for a nice relaxing vacation

Our second time at Don Lino and will go back again. The beautful new buffet was a welcome addition to the resort, the food was much improved since our last visit, more choice and lots of staff on hand. The beach is great for snorkeling, but hard to enter so wear your water shoes if you like to be in the water alot. Hot water and cold air conditioner, warm ocean and sunshine. What else do you need?

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Awesome Resort!

Lovely resort with beautiful beach. Very friendly, attentive staff. The food was great! The snorkeling was amazing right from the beach at the resort. The rooms were large and clean. NIce big balcony. Lots of good entertainment.

Don Lino Hotel: Good for a two star

New buffet building which served a good variety for being there for two weeks. The staff were excellent. Getting change was a problem. Beach was OK for adults but not for children. Snorkeling would be good if you can get over the coral in turbulent waves. We were lucky and had no issues with our room. We would go back but only if the price was right.

Playa Pesquero: Amazing time at Playa Pesquero

After hearing many negative things about Cuba we were reluctant to go. Having been to Mexico many many times we were used to the best. This resort was wonderful. The beach amazing, the food.....you would never go hungry. For those that have written reviews in the past and saying negative things about the food I was scared I would be horrible, it was amazing. Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: my new favorite place!!

from the minute you step on this resort, you already feel welcomed from the staff. the grounds are kept clean and beautiful. the rooms are typical of Cuba but as long you remember that you are only in them to shower and sleep, you will be fine (it actually cured my shoulder pain!! lol) the main star attraction is the beach!! it was one of the most beautiful beaches I have ever been to and not at all crowded!! the food was really good and never the restaurant hungry! loved the pasta station!! eve [... read more]ryone super friendly and appreciated every little thank you gift you left for them. our flights were even great - both ways!! Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Best vacation

Class A service throughout the entire resort, we had an amazing vacation. I have already recommended the resort to several of my colleagues. We will make this a yearly vacation as we dont want to entertain going anywhere else.

Brisas Guardalavaca: Fantastic family getaway!

A beautiful hotel and friendly service. Pools and beach were perfect for our children. There were always lots of chairs by the beach and by the pool. The food was good, our children especially enjoyed the snack bar hotdogs, fries and pizza!

Sol Turquesa Beach: amazing people in cuba

I had a great time.it was nice to be in the sun for a week.I enjoyed the jeep excurtion very much and saw alot of the real cuba going in the back woods and up in mountains..The resort is a good choice for the cost, its a little run down .the beds are very old.but the pools and grounds were great.bit ots all what you make it.the staff at memories cant do enoug for you.

Sol Turquesa Beach: Great Holiday

Enjoyed the week at Holguin Cuba, Memories resort. A variety of food choices in dinning room and a la cart restaurants were very good. Enjoyed swimming in the ocean and also the pool. Snorkeling and swimming with the dolphins were great fun. Our room was cleaned daily and fresh towels provided. Swimming shoes were worn in the ocean.
