Sirenis Tropical Varadero: Not the best vacation :o(

I was really excited about our vacation to the Labranda. Based on the reviews I had read on Trip Advisor it sounded absolutely amazing. The hotel itself is quite nice but we ran into a few problems. We had adjoining rooms with our kids. Our room smelled like mold and had mold and mildew in the bathroom and the ceiling was leaking, the adjoining doors did not work etc. They did switch our rooms and that fixed both problems. Then we had no hot water for 2 days. Everytime we called the front des [... read more]k they either didn't answer or they would put us through to someone else and that person would only say "WE WILL SEND A TECHNICIAN". Our first night he showed up to our room at midnight! The buffet food was horrible (and I have been to Cuba a few times and it was not this bad) and the a la carte restaurants were awful too (Italian and Fusion-Spanish). Some staff were very friendly and helpful and others did not really want to help if you didn't speak Spanish. I kept trying to be positive but it definitely was not great.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Very nice resort. Not too big which is very good for this excursion.

This resort was great ! Just the right size for this trip. Could use a little updating but is good. The staff, especially the main lobby bar staff were FANTASTIC ! This trip it rained every day, not a big deal. The name of the game is relaxation ! The front lobby entertainment and staff were awesome ! The facility was very clean. We travel to Cuba 4/5 times a winter and this will be our go to resort ! Kety, Mario, Alexander, Xavier and staff made the week ! Thanks Captian Kirk Carter

Melia Marina Varadero: Worst trip to Cuba

Our experience to Melia Marina in Varadero Cuba was our worst trip ever. 9 out of 10 travelers that we've meet will never returned. Services was poor, you felt you were bothering them when ask for some small service like cleaning a table so other can used it, or when requesting some coffee or water it's was a burthen. Some of the server says they will get it but never returned. Hotel is not well maintain and its falling apart. All pillows from the lobby or rooms were all filthy. Pool and be [... read more]ach chairs where damage and not enough to accommodate all the guess. Gym is a joke, 7 out of 8 exercise equipment where damage and the weight room was extremely small and limited of weights equipment. Bad service at the buffet, guess service and bar. Staff aren't happy at all. Only one Bar with one bartender and it take at least 15 to 20 min to get one drink if not longer. So we avoid the bar. Most of the guess during our stay were all looking forward to go back home. Always out of stock, wine red or white is only limited and often out of stock, fruit is only pineapple and water melon. Eggs and coffee for breakfast was a challenge to have and every morning I was getting upset with the services and that is not a way to start my day in the south. We've waste a week of vacation plus money to go to Cuba.

Paradisus Varadero: Exactly what we paid for

This hotel was good, the reserve rooms were nice, clean and the balcony was nice. The kids zone is old and needs to be updated the slash pad is also old and needs some work but it is fine for the little ones. Love the big pool on the main side of the hotel overlooking the ocean it is large and you can walk into it great for our little one. The beach was nice a little rocky but it was still beautiful. The lobby and entertainment and staff were also very nice and enjoyable however the food was  [... read more]awful and we were all hungry. The snack bar food was hot and prepared to order the buffet was somehow cold all the time with very minimal selection. However, for $1200 each for 7 days I’m not complaining :)

Very old and not well maintained hotel. Elevators are slow. Rooms are crusty. My shower head holder was broken so had to hold the shower head to shower. Food is very concerning. Maid was amazing, but most of the staff were not helpful and not nice. The beach and pools were great, even considering the windy and cloudy weather. Entertainment is almost non existent. Resort is like 90% russian, 5% quebec and 5% rest. I recommend the catamaran excursion and renting a moped into Varadero city. It  [... read more]is very safe in Varadero and in Havana for the most part. I also really recommend doing a 4.5-5 star resort if you're in Cuba. It's really not worth going lower for your health's sake. I really can confirm what the reviews say before me... I read them all and I agree with them.

Sol Palmeras: Our Amazing Holiday

The hotel was beautiful the staff was friendly it was very clean and well maintained. It was close to town. Easy access to the bus and there was a shuttle to another market near by. Some bars were open 24 hrs access to food a small store on site

Sirenis Tropical Varadero: A Wonderful stay Labranda Hotel!

My family had a good stay at the Labranda Hotel! The pool quite big and clean. The beach can be a little bit crowded but there is a big stretch of the beach where you can try to find a spot that you want. The food at the buffet is good. The special dining areas are quite a disappointment though because of the long wait and the food is not that special. The staff are generally friendly specially at the dining hall.

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: January 3-10, 2020 sejour

This is the second time in less than a year we are staying for a week at Royalton Hicacos in Varadero because it is a great resort. I have to say that the rooms are a bit outdated they are very clean with good quality mattress and bedding, mini bar, coffee, etc. The room maid did an excellent job every day (building 2500) and Davis the butler was very nice and helpful. Actually all the people are very friendly and helpful trying to make your stay a nice experience. Very good quality drinks, e [... read more]xcellent entertainment, and the food at al a carte, and snack bars was pretty good. the grounds are in excellent well kept condition. I also have to say few less positive things that were not so good compared with our last visit in May 2019: 1) the breakfast and lunch at the buffet was very repetitive compared with May 2019 when every day used to have a different theme (like Canadian, Italian, Asia, etc.) The same food choices every day, cooked, cold cuts, etc. 2) the hot water in building 2500 between 5-7 pm was lukewarm every day. Did not experienced this before. 3) at the initial check in not much info provided especially about evening programs and shows, where to make al a carte restaurant reservation (the system is changing now), etc. When we went later at the front desk to ask what show was on that evening the personnel was not sure, and they were asking each other. Minor things, not a deal breaker. We would definitely like to return. I forgot to mention that the beach is very nice! Thank you Royalton!

Hotel Villa Cuba: Not disappointed

I did not have any expectations when we booked this hotel, it was New years and we booked on price. It was clean and staff helpful and friendly. There was always something to eat and my husband and I enjoyed the 2 a la carte restaurants. There is a local bus that runs downtown from the hotel for a few dollars - that was convenient. Would I stay here again- only if the price was right. I know Be Live has recently taken over this hotel so maybe improvements are in the works. We took a day trip in [... read more]to Havana ( booked thru Sunwing on the plane) they delivered what they promised, however I wish we had more free time so keep that in mind when you are book a day trip. The guide kept us moving for the whole day and there is very little time to go off by yourself. I do love CUBA- the beach is wonderful, it's safe, people are friendly.

Melia Marina Varadero: Not the greatest resort

Wifi didn’t work. Our shower didn’t work. Our toilet didn’t work. They were constantly “out of stuff” and the service was very mediocre. Overall the resort needs improvement. Disappointed with my stay.

Hotel Bella Costa: Bad experience

the rooms were very dirty there were cockroaches the air conditioning did not work they had to move from room 2 times, in the corridors we found several water leaks and the cleaning service of the rooms very bad do not change the towels and sheets daily very bad

Paradisus Varadero: The new area of the resort is nice.

We were disappointed in the service at the resort, saying that we have to point out some of the positive areas ... the concierge were absolutely wonderful, they were helpful in every way. ( thanks to Lilly and Hanset). The bar in the family reception (new area) was also very good, the two bartenders went above and beyond for our family, both adults and children. The beach is lovely, could of been cleaner but we enjoyed the water. The two shows that our family attended were first class entertainm [... read more]ent. Now as for the service in other areas .... we were given a room in the older part of the resort with a partial view of the ocean and the kids were in the family area. We requested to be moved closer to the kids rooms, it took two days for them to move us (something we didn’t understand because the resort was really not busy) but they did finally move us in the same building as the kids on a flour with no hallway lights which was a little scary in the dark, we did ask them a number of times to get a light in the hallway but it went to deaf ears. The room was nice but we didn’t have towels or fridge supplies or drinking water for the first day we were in the room after calling a number of times we borrowed towels from the kids room and went down to the bar to get drinking water. Now the food !!!! We were prepared for the food not being the best but this food was awe full. The a la carte restaurants were also terrible, they never had their complete menu .... and it was the same food that was at the buffet just presented differently. The waiters spoke very little English and seemed confused serving a table of nine (we never could get our food at the same time). The concierge would book our restaurants and three times we got to the restaurant and it was closed and it was moved to another restaurant. (Frustrating with a group of nine). We would only give the Japanese restaurant an ok recommendation the others no.

Playa Caleta: Never again

Grounds and beach were the only great thing about this resort that deserves reviews. Lacking in service, food was ice cold, no paper in any restrooms and hotel itself was not clean anywhere. Hotel ripped you off to exchange money and elevators were never working and had to climb 6 flights every time

Melia Marina Varadero: Much less than good

There are some pluses and minuses for this resort. 1) check in great! 2) room was dated but ok. Rusty plumbing fixtures but functional 3) food, worst we have ever experienced. Same meal every day for 7 days, cold or lukewarm at best. Horrible fruit selection, you name it, it was bad. I know Cuba doesn't have a reputation for good food but this was ridiculous. We have been to Cuba before and this resort wins for worst food ever. 4) staff was minimal, uninterested and aloof. Playa Caleta: Good hotel for the budget traveler

Good place to go to for the budget traveler. Great beach and pools. Food was ok for the most part. Rooms all had great views of the ocean. a little outdated in some of the rooms and bed mattress was not that comfortable. Nightly entertainment each day.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Nice resort

Smooth sanded waters, seaweed not problematic, the rooms decent, just the food was pretty salty.. entertainment was decent ... good place to take pictures. The tennis courts are better option than their gym room.

Melia Peninsula Varadero: Must Go

This is second time in Cuba. I had great time in Melia Peninsula Varedero. Really nice staff, great food, resonable price and very clean . For sure we will be back. My ten years old son survived without device no problem. You must give a try you don’t regret .

Melia Peninsula Varadero: Great resort

Overall great resort! Food is good, but alacarts could have been better! Rooms are clean, shows are great! Friendly stuff! We didn’t have to leave the resort for anything! Will be back again next year!

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Beautiful Resort! Enjoyed our stay.

Beautiful and well maintained resort. Rooms were clean and in good shape. Staff was very hospitable and friendly. Pool/ beach area was cleaned daily. Food was decent. Overall enjoyed our vacation. Would recommend to friends/family!

Melia Marina Varadero: 3-3.5 star resort

Not a bad resort but not 5-star worthy. I would give it a 3-3.5 star rating. Food was okay but usually the same all over Cuba so I wasn’t too concerned about that. The staff were friendly and never had an issue with them. The rooms could’ve been cleaner and we found a couple cockroaches. Overall not a bad experience but have been to better.
