This is not a 4 star resort I would rate it a 3 1/2 the staff is what makes it .THe pool is always cold and there is no premium liquor except for vodka. Don't bump up your room or service as it is not worth it we had both types and there was not much difference. If you get it really cheap then go but there are better resorts

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Will go back!
Stayed Dec 4 to 11, 2017. Very clean resort. Courteous, friendly and helpful staff. Japanese restaurant was amazing! Loads of shade and never a problem finding a lounger by the pool or at the beach. Have been to many resorts, this is the first one we said we would return to...we like different places but this one was great.

Iberostar Waves Dominicana: Amazing family resort!!
Went for 8 days beginning of December, had a great time! We had a 4 year old and a baby and all had plenty to do and eat.
The Food: was fantastic, we stuck to the buffet and beach restaurants and didn't want to make any dinner reservations. Had plenty to eat, from seafood to stews to pizzas and vegetables. Nothing looked stale. There were never line ups either.
The room: we had a king bed and a sofabed for our kid. They offered us a crib for the baby but we had brought our own. We recom[... read more]mend room 4053 in building 4. It was quiet at night away from the hustle and bustle as well as close to the beach. Daily cleaning was thorough and left us plenty of water bottles and towels and beautiful decorations on the bed. It had a sunk in bathtub. Lovely decor and modern washroom.
The pools: are large, never felt over crowded. People seem to wake up early and reserve seats at the beach and pool but it wasn't the fault of the resort. It was tough to find seats in the shade after 10 am. They have a shallow kids pool too which was nice.
For kids: The kids club ladies are sweet. The playground and toys are a bit run down but the ladies working there try to make up for it with activities and singing and face painting. The same ladies also run the evening kids entertainment which is 8 pm to 9pm. That was my daughters highlight of the day! She loved the dancing and singing and they even brought out bouncy castle on some nights. We found out halfway through our trip from one of the employees that we can actually visit the neighbouring resort that had a huge beautiful watwr park for kids! It was a 5 min walk from building 4 and you'd have to cut through past the street with all the markets. There is so much water splashing and a giant bucket dumping water that your kid will definitely need to be comfortable with water. My year old was too scared but I can see her going in 2 years down the road :)
Night entertainment (for adults): it was fun. Entertaining and on some nights really funny. They did couples contests that were definitely not appropriate for kids.
Daytime entertainment: we didn't partake as much as I'd liked because we had to stay with the kids, but when we did get away we joined the dancing lessons and pool exercises and bingo. The entertainment team is fantastic, very joyful to be around.
Front desk: no issues checking in. We were aware that check in is at 3 pm and we arrived at 1, but they were kind and accommodating in finding us rooms that suited what we needed. They gave us bracelets, sent us for lunch and kept our luggage, and when we got back our room was ready by 2pm :)
Beach: sand was amazing. Water was warm. It was never clear or calm but it was fun to swim in. No seashells anywhere though :( just smooth sand everywhere. Again you'll have to get up early as people seem to reserve seats. The resort clearly has signs telling not to do that but people do anyway. The occasional person comes by to sell an excursion but they are very nice and respectful and appreciate your respect back when declining.
Accessibility: we were amazed with the accessibility of this resort! We were able to push the stroller everywhere! There are ramps everywhere there were stairs. Even on the beach! They have a boardwalk that takes you through to the umbrellas and chairs half the way down the sand.
Staff: all were super friendly whether you tipped or not. Tips are appreciated but not mandatory
For families? Absolutely, there are kids EVERYWHERE and the resort is accepting of loud laughter and play.
For couples? no way... they'd be annoyed at how loud and active kids get, it's definitely a family resort and that's why we loved it!
Make sure you visit the pond with the flamingos close to the entertainment stage, they are lovely :)

Iberostar Waves Paraiso Beach: Memories to last a lifetime!
Thank you Iberostar Paraiso Beach for making our vacation for our group of 8 so amazing. The beach and ocean was so beautiful and clean. The pool, bars and food was excellent. Not a complaint to be made, the food selection and quality exceeded my expectation. Japanese A la carte restaurant was rated the best by our group.
Shout out to Lilliane and Luis from the entertainment staff. We miss your smile Lilly.
The grounds are lush, full of wildlife.
Won't be forgetting the coons by the beach gri[... read more]ll- they definetly bring some humour in our day. ( they don't lie when they tell you not to feed them, haha).
Only two recommendations during our stay: could use more trolley service ( I enjoyed the walking this time as we didn't have our younger kids with us) and more music for all pool bars.

Iberostar Selection Varadero: Great resort!
We recently visited Iberostar Varadero in Cuba, where we are return customers. It was sad to see a lot of the trees and green areas damaged by the hurricane, not just at the resort but all over. The resort itself has been rebuilt and repaired and you would not otherwise be able to tell they experienced the hurricane. It was not the best weather this time around (cold front came in the week we were there), but the staff were wonderful and we still had a great time. Service is excellent. People ar[... read more]e friendly and helpful. Resort and rooms are kept up in very good condition. The buffet is excellent and we are there most days. I'm not personally a fan of the themed restaurants, as I've found they miss the mark in terms of the cuisine. We also travel with children, so the buffet is just easier. The pool was cold due to the weather, but the entertainment staff were great in engaging the guests and keeping things fun and upbeat. The beach is kept up well, and there are lifeguards on duty. Overall, it was an excellent experience.

JOIA Rose Hall by Iberostar: Excellent Vacation Location
The hotel is well maintained and offers excellent adult only facilities for the perfect vacation. The highlight is the staff and if you get a room with a butler that is even better. They look after all your needs. We had 2 and a half days of rainy weather which topped off our week but still it was good. The restaurants are also worth visiting and offer great a-la-carte meals.

JOIA Paraiso by Iberostar: 5 star experience!
Staff are super friendly and go out of their way to keep you happy. Very clean and great variety of restaurants, which you should book as soon as you arrive as they fill up quickly. The entertainment staff by the pool and for the shows are wonderful and if it rains, the spa pool is a great option.

JOIA Paraiso by Iberostar: WOW, just wow. An incredible resort.
This is the most beautifully designed hotel I have ever been to. The architecture is elegant, extravagant and inviting. The staff were gracious, kind and charismatic. There was so much to choose from everyday during the breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets. The à la carte restaurant were awesome. I especially enjoyed the Japanese and Italian. I was able to book an excursion at the hotel called Emotions. Iberostar Waves Paraiso Beach: Fantastic All Inclusive
Having traveled to many Caribbean destinations and different all-inclusive resorts, we found the Iberostar Paraiso Beach to be on of the best we have visited to date. The property is large, but due to the extensive vegetation, it was a pleasant walk from place to place. The golf carts are frequent and we could always grab a ride if we chose to do so. We enjoyed the food in all the restaurants and ate at 4 a-la-carte restaurants (the Steakhouse, the Japanese, the Mediterranean and the Mexican).[... read more] We also ate at the Taco restaurant and the Rock Star Cafe. The Beach Grill was excellent for lunches and the main buffet was fantastic for breakfast. We even tried the room service and our pizza arrived in well under the time they had given us when the order was placed. We found the grounds were impeccably maintained and the lighting up of all 5 of the resorts for Christmas was beautiful. The staff was very friendly and accommodating and everyone spoke English. We enjoyed the pools and the beach, although beach chairs were a bit difficult to find at times. We enjoyed the golf course. It is a lovely course that is very well maintained. We would definitely go back to this Iberostar and we plan on visiting other hotels under this brand in the future.

We stayed recently at Iberostar Bavaro suits with another four couples and head great time. Grounds are beautiful; beach is big so we had no problems to find a place on the beach. We all love ocean and although was rough sea we were able to enjoy water and swim. Entertainment was good and weather nice. What to say about a food? Iberostar Waves Paraiso del Mar: Iberostar Paraiso Del Mar Review - November 2017
Our family of four stayed here at end of November and overall our experience with the hotel/resort was very good. This is a very big resort and even though there are shuttles we found at times they were few and far between. Our family did a lot of walking so be prepared!! Staff are very friendly though and the customer service was excellent. The grounds were exceptionally clean and well maintained. Public areas were mostly very clean. Pools definitely could use a bit more clean up with respect [... read more]to empty cups/dishes but otherwise they were great. Bathrooms by the beach were gross (as we’ve found at all resorts we’ve stayed at in Mexico), but the other restrooms by the buffets and in the lobby areas, etc were very clean. Our room was pretty good overall. I would say it could stand to use a bit of updating and the beds weren’t the most comfortable, not like at home, but were okay. A few issues on arriving in our room i.e. no hand soap, no coffee and during the week our safe wouldn’t open. However, when reporting these issues to reception they were there very quickly with someone to address/correct any problems. The only thing we didn’t like was the push from the staff beside check in/out to sit through a session to buy property or a timeshare through Iberostar as the attitude from one particular staff member wasn’t appropriate. I don’t need to hear that you’re “just doing your jobâ€. I’m just on vacation and if I’m interested in sitting through any sessions on timeshares or buying property there, then I will approach someone. I don’t appreciate the staff being so pushy about it and having an attitude when I politely said I’m not interested. Food overall was very good. We ate at three a la carte’s (Mediterranean, Japanese, and Brazilian). By far the best was the Japanese and Brazilian. The Mediterranean wasn’t really enjoyed by anyone in our party. It was so hot in the restaurant. Odd because the Brazilian was just beside it and it was very cool inside. It was just so uncomfortable. When it’s cooler outside then in you know that’s a problem. The food itself was just okay. Some of the appetizers weren’t very appetizing. The main part of our meal was alright. My chicken was dry though. We didn’t like the dessert choices either. It was like eating at the regular buffets. The regular buffets were good although I would have liked to have seen more of a variety especially with this being our third time in Mexico. Lots of amenities for the whole family. A little pricey though i.e. seadoo with someone else driving for 30 minutes was $60 US I believe we were quoted. Parasailing for two was $120 US for 30 minutes. The pool area was excellent. Especially for the little ones there is shallow areas and areas that have a slope to enter which was great. I appreciated that this resort had quiet areas at the pool so depending on where you sat you could get away from the noise of the bars if you wanted to. Never had an issue finding seating there even some of the beds with the canopies were open if you went throughout the day. Beach was excellent. Water could be a bit choppy at times but overall we had a great experience there. Only recommendation I would suggest would be for Iberostar to look at their policy about putting towels on the chairs. I have never been to a resort where you can’t go put a towel on a chair and come back to the chair later. At Iberostar if you leave a towel unattended they not only take your towel but you lose your beach chair. This then requires a trip to the lobby to sort this out and get new towel cards which is a huge hassle. I heard a lot of people complaining about this while we were there and having stayed previously in Mexico twice at other resorts, I didn’t appreciate this policy as this has never been an issue at other hotels/resorts.

JOIA Paraiso by Iberostar: Outstanding customer service
The grounds at this hotel are gorgeous but I can't say enough great things about the staff. The service was impeccable! From the check in to the check out, the service was always fast and super friendly. We had a few hiccups in our room; safe not working, power outage, balcony door not closing, but the staff attended to all these issues and resolved them immediately. Thanks to everyone for a fantastic vacation.

JOIA Paraiso by Iberostar: Incredible !
From the minute you walk into the Grand , you are greeted with a cold towel and welcome drink. The hotel itself is like a palace and the staff make you feel like you are royalty. The rooms are impeccably clean and spacious. The bathrooms are huge and have 2 separate sinks and a jacuzzi bath to enjoy. The bed was comfortable and there is a pillow menu for your comfort. Loved having room service breakfast and coffee on the balcony. You will not go wrong with this resort!

JOIA Paraiso by Iberostar: The most amazing, beautiful resort I've ever been to
Rooms were spectacular, beds super soft and comfy, pillows were perfect and if they weren’t you could choose a from a pillow menu, one issue I had was the lighting system, it was run off a motion. Sensor. Some kinks to iron out, when my husband would leave in the morning to go to the gym and then about 5 minutes later I would roll over, the lights would all come in.. a big of a pain, but nothing that would ever stop me from going again!
Grounds were kept immaculate, I didn’t see one stray [... read more]cat or dog, which is nice when you have a big heart like mine...
beach was ok, lots of rocks but also lots of space to swim , waves were huge, but fun. Water was warm
Food, AMAZING, buff said!
