Sol Turquesa Beach: Good Value For Price

Honest review from experienced traveller Overall we had a wonderful week at the Memories Holguin, the weather was spectacular, beach was pretty and warm and the selection of five pools were clean and spacious, we never felt crowded and there were plenty of chairs to choose from. The food was mediocre and I could only find two drinks I really enjoyed which was Eva and the Ruso coffee, but we go to Cuba for the sun, beach and value for our money! Most staff were very friendly, Will Smith(fun and v [... read more]ery entertaining), Janet in entertainment, Yamir at the cigar bar and Tania our maid. The lobby bar staff wasn't very helpful or eager to serve, so I would go to the cigar bar at night to get the best service. We had upgraded to the Diamond club; it does have some extra perks that we were pleased with; separate beach section with more comfortable chairs and our own bar service, and nicer section of the beach. Also beach towels were provided in the room and I had champagne most mornings after breakfast(they have some available all day at the diamond club room). I would have to say that my biggest disappointment was the service or treatment I received from one of the management staff. When we arrived we booked all our A La Carte's for the week. We were offered to buy Lobster and eat our dinner at the Ballet Pool show with our Diamond club upgrade. We thought this was a fabulous idea and went for it. When we arrived for our reservation the Mini Disco was poolside that evening because the entertainment was there for the night so we ate our Lobster dinner while watching and listening to Mini Disco, not the ballet show. It was loud and the parents did not monitor their kids so we were splashed during a meal we had to pay for! We were very disappointed about the event, so I decided to make a recommendation and complaint to the manager who really didn't seem to care much and made no apology for the inconvenience. I felt we were misinformed and would've certainly booked our dinner at a different location since you can book your dinner at any A La Carte. This was my 16th vacation(been to Mexico,Costa Rica,Other areas of Cuba,Jamaica, DR) and this is my first time I ever felt the need to complain and write a review. I was very disappointed with the managers reaction; he really didn't seem to care whether or not I returned to this resort, the quality and satisfaction of our stay or even if I wrote a review about it. One last mention is that the beds, no matter what section of the hotel, are hard as rock. I have neck and back issues and wouldn't recommend you go if you have the same problems. All that said, we were happy with our overall stay and the only reason we would return to this resort would be to visit the awesome staff mentioned earlier, they made our vacation one to remember and I hope see them again someday!

Brisas Guardalavaca: Great Resort!

The Brisas was very nice. It has a lot to offer and the beach was amazing. We stayed in the hotel section which was close to all the main pool activities and the Lobby bar. The buffet was okay but the restaurants are excellent. I recommend the "Sea Food" and "International". The staff are very friendly and hard working. The other vacationers we met were awesome as well and some of them, have been going to the Brisas for over 10 years. Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Home away from Home

We booked last minute and paid a decent price . We have been here 12 times so knew what we were getting for our dollar .The service at the front desk was exceptional as was the service throughout the resort during our whole stay . Beautiful beach and I didn't notice as much bumming as previous visits . The weather was excellent , hot sunny every day . By the time a week is up I'm ready for some good food . It's a great place to go if you want to meet locals and learn the Cuban lifestyle . If you ever get a chance to visit a Cuban's home I strongly recommend it . We visit a family and look so forward to it . We feel very safe here anytime day or night .

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Great resort

Just visited the beautiful Paradisus in Holguin. Loved the design/layout of this resort. Very classy. Lobby bar staff in the daytime especially excellent. Warning though, this is a smoking resort!!!!!!!

Sol Turquesa Beach: Awesome Time

Food was better than expected. Pools, rooms and grounds were clean. Great nightly entertainment but usually tired from busy days. Weeds in the Ocean but with swim shoes you didn't notice them. Lots of ice and slushy drinks and always chairs around the pools and at the beach. Lots of stairs but helps after your meals. Only complaint rooms were not ready on arrival but sat at lobby bar and had a few drinks! No problem. Sol Turquesa Beach: nice resort but needs some upgrades

the workers were friendly and always there to please you, and our maid was amazing ,always looking to please us. The grounds could you a little tlc as its an older resort and is starting to show. The food was about the same I have seen at other Cuban resorts, but it was displayed nicely. If traveling into Holguin I would recommend taking a local with you as we were constantly harassed for money by people, and didn't enjoy our day there at all. The jeep excursion offered at the resort makes for a [... read more] fun day and you really get to see how the farmers and Cuban people live. This outing is well worth the money.

Don Lino Hotel: Good price, like the atmosphere, local areas

Don Lino is an average small resort, that has some qualities of efforts and appreciation. Nice that its villas and huts, instead of hotel rooms. Constant renovations around, some water issues to be expected. Repetitive live entertainment, better than none. Stay in room 1008, oldish stone hut across from pool(small). Bring duck tape, seal up window that let in sewers smell? No fridge, and safe didn't seem to work. New wooden villas is said to have fridges. Old ocean front huts looks even smaller. [... read more] Playa Blanca Beach nearby is worth the walk(shortcut). Pizza at rest is like macain's personal. Paid about $650 each, early March. Would I go back? If I wanted to help out the locals outside the resort, yes.

Sol Turquesa Beach: Exceeded expectations.

Really nice. Food was better than expected for Cuba. A la carte were unlimited so we did the Italian one twice. Good pizza. Snack bar was good but often didn't have any burgers. Pools were awesome, beach was beautiful. Always lots of chairs and canopys at the beach. Rooms very clean. Nice set up in the bathrooms...showers had a door and so did the toilet for privacy.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Great holiday

The best advice we received from previous reviews was to book a villa. Our room was well equipped, clean, with good air conditioning and well located close to a beach, pool and 24 hr. bar, which did pose problems with late night revellers inconsiderate of those trying to sleep. The beach did tend to become littered with plastic cups by late afternoon. Very few Canadians thought to bring their own reusable mugs.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Good resort for the price

Nice place with Easy access all around. The VIP section Is perfect. The five Resto are good. The beach Is clean and there Is a lot of chairs. There Is a lot to do and there Is an amasing chopping center.

Playa Pesquero: Can't wait to return to this awesome resort!

My husband and I were at Playa Pesquero from March 17-24 and had an amazing vacation! This was our first visit to Cuba and we were a little concerned about the quality we should expect from any resort there, based on some of the reviews we had read. We were very pleasantly surprised with Playa Pesquero! There was a great variety of food, which we found to be delicious. The resort is fairly large and we loved strolling around, but there are always carts close by to hop on, if mobility is an issue, and they'll get you where you want to go. The beach, the grounds, the pool, the staff, the atmosphere, the weather......no complaints about anything! Some of the buildings are in need of fresh paint but others look like they've been painted recently, so I imagine that's always a work in progress with a resort of this size. This is a fantastic place to relax as a couple but it's also very much a family resort....lots to do for kids of all ages. We hope to be able to return next year with our four teenage kids. It's not at all hard to see why Playa Pesquero has a high return rate...we were already planning our return halfway through our week there! Highly recommend this resort...money well spent and enjoyed!!

Brisas Guardalavaca: VACATION TO REMEMBER!!!

We were very impressed. This was my first visit and Cheryl's second to Cuba. We will both be back again!!! The variety of food, the pleasant staff and the wonderful environment all added to our time at the resort. The ability to safely walk all through the resort as well as a comfortable feeling to walk to the flea market. The ride in the horse drawn buggy to the farm and then to the village was excellent. Brisas Covarrubias: A nice and quiet resort

First of all you have to take into consideration that it's Cuba and everything is slow over there and not the quality that we have in North America; nor the price either. But the beach and the water is great.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: March 18-25, 3016

This resort has many different room types and costs. We started on in a std rm which is in what they call the "Barracks". It is a small room with no hairdryer or balcony. It is central on the resort, however you can walk the 4 phases of the resort in minutes. We upgraded to a bungalow for $7 pesos per day, much nicer. They have deals at the front desk to upgrade to a villa or bungalow for a lot less than on line when booking ur trip. They have amazing poutin at the snack bars, a must try. The resort itself was definitely a 3 star but all staff was friendly and accommodating. There is a bank onsite at the bungalow lobby to exchange ur money, cheaper than the exchange in the main lobby. There are 4 buffets, all the same, the main lobby is crowded so go to another. Beach is beautiful. Even though 3 star i would go back for cheap price

Don Lino Hotel: Relaxing Resort

Basically you pay for what you get. This resort is geared towards travellers who are looking for a piece of mind far away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life... On a scale of one to ten..I will rate it a six. The standard oceanview rooms were in great condition..except there was an issue with water for a bit. That was later resolved. Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Another fun time had by all!

This is my 3rd time to this resort and will definitely not be my last. The rooms are cleaned daily - REALLY cleaned - the grounds are absolutely beautiful and it is sprawling! Seems to go on forever - which is fine because they have little trains that will drive you around if you get tired. There are at least 3 buffets and a few restaurants a la carte - something for everybody - one of the buffets that my daughter and I latched on to served Cuban food which we totally love. There is a piano bar named Ashley's - in honor of a tourist, from what I understand, who died in a car crash in Cuba. The girl that plays is amazing; you can hear the piano from outside the hotel as you are walking the grounds. The beach is amazing and if you walk to the left, there is a beautiful place called Ancla - for beautiful photos and there is a restaurant (really reasonable price) - go for the blue one in behind - it's better, in my opinion. There is a crazy fun flea market right on the grounds and the people that work there are SO nice. All in all, really good value for your money.

Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Had a great time.

A good hotel and great location. The beach was excellent as well as the snorkeling. Meals at the a-la-cartes were good, especially the French. We also enjoyed a $15 lobster dinner. We did miss the animation team, did not see them once during our stay.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Great resort

My husband and I stayed at Blau Costa Verde in the plus section on March 4 - 11, 2016. The resort and the rooms were clean and the staff was friendly. The beach was beautiful but beware of coral in the water. The food and drinks were very good. We had a relaxing and enjoyable stay.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: A little disappointed

To start the positives are the resort grounds, pools, and beach was beautiful, bar staff was very friendly and mixed some really good drinks - now the negatives - evening entertainment too repetitive, room was musty with lots of mildew(Villa section), resulting to be moved to another Villa which was closer to everything - front desks staff not overly helpful and at times somewhat rude, the food left alot to be desired not a whole lot of variety - if you like rice and chicken you will love the bu [... read more]ffet - I would return but the price would have right......

Playa Pesquero: Love this Place!

Never disappointing. The food, staff, beach, accomodations, etc. are wonderful. This was the 3rd time returning and there will be a 4th. The older section of the resort is starting to show it's age; however, the rooms are clean and in good repair. The premium section is gorgeous if you're interested in an Adults Only.
