Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Exceptional Staff
The resort was very nice. They are still recovering from the hurricane so there was some construction going on but that is understandable. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, going out of their way to ensure we were looked after. The entertainment staff, particularly Darita and Victor, worked very hard and were super friendly. Rafael at the buffet went above and beyond to ensure my husbamd’s birthday was amazing. There were a few bumps along the way, such as no hot water the first[... read more] two days but they fixed it as soon as they could. A shortage of clean pool towels was another flaw, but it was explained to us why and as soon as the clean towels came they were sure to let us know. No bacon at breakfast was a downfall, Canadians do love their bacon. More staff to serve drinks and at the buffet would have been a bonus. More variety in food as well would have been good. It is Cuba so you have to expect some issues with food. All in all, the food was ok, the entertainment amazing, the beach was beautiful, the pool activities were fun and our group of 18 had an exceptionally fun time.

Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo: Socializing at the Grand Muthu near the Ocean
My family & I were at the Grand Muthu in Cayo Coco from Jan 20th to 27th, 2019. Overall, I had a good time with my wife and son. Highlights for me were: meeting people from all over the world and socializing at the bar(s), enjoying the scenery, the pool and beach areas, as well as connecting with staff and tourists alike. In general, the food was enjoyable, especially the A la Carte Restaurant seafood. I would enjoy returning there for another family vacation in the sun.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Memories Flamenco Cayo Coco not 4.5 star resort
The positives before I go to the negatives! Family had great time because of beach, Cuban people, entertainment, kids club and food choices but not a 4.5 * resort. Resort needs lots of maintenance. Doors broken or half missing in public washrooms. Missing pipes in mens pool washroom. Very flat uncomfortable beds or pillows. Rusty and old light fixtures. Took days to get beach towels replaced. Our room key or lock did not work. Had to replace 4 times. Could only try one alacarte restaurant due to[... read more] no bookings available even though they looked mostly empty! Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Awesome vacation
We were a group of 18 and were greeted by the entertainment staff on arrival. We very quickly made friends with the entertainment staff and they truly made our vacation. The sweetest people and so much fun! The food is typical Cuba and the lineups could sometimes be long but there was always plenty to choose. Our waiter was amazing. He treated us so well. A couple of the bar staff could be grumpy but overall the entertainment staff made up for it! Rooms were clean and the beach is stunning. Alwa[... read more]ys lots of chairs . Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo: NICE NEWER RESORT
The rooms are very new with rainfall showers. You have several English TV stations with a few sport stations and movie stations. The pool areas are very nice with nice infinity pool. Games throughout the day are fun for all. Main lobby is very open and well set-up with piano player or singing entertainment most evening. There is 24 hr eating area near the main pools with hamburgers, hot dogs, ham and cheese sandwiches and fries. We do not drink but others at the resourt stated the drinks a[... read more]re prepared with a lot of care and others told us the quality was very high. To have to go to one side of the resort on short walk to access the main beach area which has long stretch of excellent white sandy beach. You can walk for long way to pass the other resorts. Lots of beach chairs. Some stated there were sand flies so ensure you take bug spray. Every lunch hour there is a great buffet restaurant just as you approach the main beach where they will grill you meats on a BBQ. Better than the main buffett for lunch. The Italian restaurant is by far the best with large pizza choice for appetitizer and we had the great steak for main course. The India had small dishes and the International restaraunt was not very good meal with only one choice. These two a la carte had small portiosn so Italian is the place to go. You can always find something to eat...take some condiments to enhance food flavour. There is a bus that you can take to go to another beach but you have to pay for chairs and the bus is 5 pesos for entire day and it goes to market. Did not do this although was advised the bearch is even more beautiful that main beach next to resort. In the main resort there are nice lounge chairs and some mattress covered gazebos but like all resorts you have to get their before the rush of loungers. Most times you can get something before 1000 am. We went from 16-23 Jan and the weather was a little wind and partially cloudy so not really very hot but still better than winter at home by far. The pool water is considered cooler but all the kids are in for entire time and great to go for quick dip. The beach water is warmer and you can go out 200 feet and only be up to waist. Same great white sand as all Cuban resorts or locations - amazing and so clear. The only point is overall servcie during main buffet as you had to wait for coffee or tea on your table most times and plates and utensils we had to wait for them to replenish with line-ups most times. Normal for main resorts but first time we had to wait for plates and had to often go get own coffee as they were slow on that service compared to having been in Varaderro on three other occasions. The entertainment was pretty good at this resort compare to other hotels. Resort is new as it opened in Mar 18 with sister adult only resort next to it which is now opened since Feb 19. The staff are all very nice but the resort must improve customer service to ensure repeat customers. We would likely try another resort if we rtn to Cuba and go Apr-May or later for hotter time pd. Mid 70s or 23-25 are still great. We are not overly fussy about things so overall this was very new and well maintained resort which has to resolve some minor customer service to ensure repeat patrons.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Horrible Resort
12 hour delay through Air Canada. No pool towels for days. Bottom floor in our Villa and it smelt like sewage the whole entire time. Lost power for a whole night. The whole resort ran out of bread for days. Ran out of champagne. Staff were rude and not friendly at all including front desk. We will never go back there!

Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo: Fun in the Sun at the Muthu
I had a great time at the Grand Muthu during my week there (Jan 20 to 27, 2019). Highlights were meeting new people, making friends, enjoying the bar and friendly staff. The food at the buffet was not the best, but I really liked the freshly cooked shrimp & calamari. I also liked the A la Carte Restaurant food & staff. The beach, the pools and hotel grounds were very beautiful. Overall, the atmosphere at the Grand Muthu was great! I enjoyed some fun in the sun with my family!

Muthu Colonial Hotel: A Great Stay (Again)
We are repeaters to The Colonial but had missed going last year. We were pleasantly surprised given the reviews. We arrived in the evening and the check in was very friendly, quick and efficient with bell boys waiting to take us to our rooms. We stayed in Bldg 33 - 2nd floor. We had a great view of the ocean. We were a short walk to everything - salt-water pool, buffet, entertainment and most importantly - the gorgeous ocean. The beach is absolutely the best beach we've been to. The beach[... read more] staff are very friendly and eager to please. Periodically there was some seaweed - but not a lot. They were cleaning up the beach early each morning. This Resort is the oldest Resort in Cayo Cocoa but has great charm. The rooms are very clean - but like others have written - a little dated, but that did not bother us. We found the new buffet very good and very efficient - remember you are holidays and in Cuba. The staff are very friendly and happy to help you. There are 4 grill areas and 1 pasta area to personalize your pasta dish. A variety of fresh meat and fresh fish were available every day. Good selections of hot dishes, salads, desserts and of course the ice cream station. We did the Italian a la carte one night but found the menu very limited - but it was nice to be served. The Yarey Grill by the fresh water pool was a nice change for lunch offering pizza and french fries - however the new washrooms located here need to be looked at as there is something very wrong when you have 1/2 inch of water on the floor. Nasty! We used the main lobby washrooms instead. There is also the 24 Hour Grill/Bar for late arrivals. There are activities through the day and also nightly entertainment. These are run by enthusiastic staff and the entertainment is very good. Our only recommendation would be to have nightly entertainment in the Piano Bar. We miss this. This Resort was hit very hard with the hurricane in 2017. They have a done a phenomenal job to get to where they are. The Resort is not complete but very nice with what has been completed. Vacationers at this Resort comprised of approx. 50/50 Russian and Canadian (50/50 French/English). We had no issue with the Russians - most were Families. We need to remind ourselves that they come from a different culture. Showing them a smile and greeting - brought out the same. I think adding a LOT of alcohol to any culture does not bring out the best - not only the Russians. I would like them to be friendlier to the staff. This Resort has great staff working here. It is the reason we return. Remember when you come - if you can - please bring the staff presents of personal hygiene items, shoes, clothing - whatever you can spare. We actually use our large luggage size to pack presents - and use our carry-on for our clothing - then give the large luggage to a staff (Thrift Stores are a good source of used luggage). We found the exchange of 1 CC Peso = $1.50 Cdn high - and presents are better appreciated. We recommend that you pack bug spray - as mosquitoes can be an issue if you react to them. In closing, there is an excellent Dentist working from this Resort. My husband goes to her annually. In Summary - we had a great week and will return again. Kudos to Michael and ALL the staff at The Colonial. We know you are working hard to bring back this Resort following your devastating hurricane.
We spent two weeks in lodge 6 at Flamenco Memories with perfect weather and a beautiful beach. The variety and freshness of food was excellent and most servers, polite and fun. One, however, stopped us from sitting st an unoccupied table saying a guy had a birthday and wanted it. Not cool at a buffet. He could have booked at any of five restaurants if it was really his birthday. We were surprised to find workers st the beach 'reserve' beach chairs early so when people arrived they all looked ta[... read more]ken. By afternoon many people couldn't find a beach chair. I couldn't sleep because the volume of the music was absolutely unbearable. I asked for music to be appropriate for the audience in that room and not to shake the walls in the lodges. No change. Bartenders were great. Cleaning staff was great. Internet is dodgy.

Melia Costa Rey: Great Resort
My daughter and I went to Pullman to have a relaxing time and what we found was
a lot of fun and laughter. I was amazed to see the pool boys out at 7:00 am every morning cleaning down the walkways and pools. The grounds are very well maintained and our rooms were always swept and cleaned. The entertainers were very friendly and full of high energy. The games were simple but challenging which had everyone laughing. The evening entertainment was excellent and the theater is large. The beach[... read more] is well groomed and there are plenty of chairs and areas to escape the sun. The staff was very friendly, helpful and polite and we had no problem with the food. We found plenty of selection. My only suggestion is to bring some Hot Sauce and Ketchup if you want to add extra flavor. The managers and their assistants are very approachable and the drinks offer a good selection. The Lobby is bright and white and every evening there is plenty of music to entertain you. Overall, our experience was excellent. We are definitely going back. We also had the privilege to meet the Development Manager who informed us that they are on the final stages of designing a new, larger, kids club which will bring even more satisfaction to families. But I don't want to give all the secrets away. For this one we will all have to wait to see. Honestly, I didn't come across any unhappy families, everyone appeared to enjoy their stay. I give Pullman a 5/5 for Cuban Standards. Oh, yes...it also offers great massage & exercise facilities, hair and nails and windsurfing. What more do you want.

Hotel Playa Coco: It was Memories Flamenco we went too.
Worst vacation in 15 years booking threw trip central. Shortage of certain foods, beer. Basically no clean linens or beach towels for 2 weeks. why? Because there are shortages of certain goods in Cuba. There is a problem with the laundry facility in Cayo Coco and there is are issues with the Crystal beer supply. To ad the hotel is not equiped to handle full capacity. And there are some serious issues with the plumbing. Discusting public washrooms. Someone should be held accountable for not infor[... read more]ming people of the issues with shortages of goods in Cuba before we spend our hard earned money to these resorts. Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Modest and Comfortable Friendly Staff
Cuba is a third world country with limitations in some of its food presenation and availablity. If you accept this you have no complaints. The buffet is hearty with lots of fresh local choices of fish and fruit with omlette station and grill for beef and chicken.
This hotel is about the beach and the people. If you want the clearest of teal blue beaches and welcoming freindly faces I can highly recommend this hotel.
I would return again without hesitation knowing that the food choices may [... read more]be more limited than other resorts and locations. The service, beach and people overturned all other (food) circumstances that are truly uncontrolable in Cuba. I felt 110% safe on the resort and in the area.
I found Cuba much cleaner than Dominican or Mexico as far as roadside garbage and ocean clean up compaired to other travels.
I can't say enough about the amazing staff and people, and it is of note that most are very fluet in english, moreso than I found in DR or Mexico. When I can I go back?!
