Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Great Resort with some minor kinks

Overall it was an excellent second stay at the resort. There was always something to eat, the employees were fabulous, coffee was great, pools were clean, drinks were plentiful, beach was terrific, rooms were clean and had what we needed, etc. This was our second stay at the resort (First - April 2016). We did expect the resort to be fully operational and have its kinks worked out by now. Although that was not the case there was nothing that was really a deal breaker. (1) They do need a [... read more]dditional waste bins at the beach as people are slobs and lazy so there are cups, straws and cigarette butts all over the beach area. (2) Better lighting is needed along the pathways at night. (3) If you are staying in the east wing of the hotel with a stroller and want to get to the reception floor of the main building it is a long walk around the entire building or you have to carry it up the stairs which becomes quite a chore. They are in the process of installing an elevator which will take care of this. (4) Showers in the room do not drain and water pools inside and also the rainfall shower sprays up at the ceiling as well as down.....defective head. All minor things but all items that should be addressed. Likely will not return. Not because of the hotel but the location is just too isolated and we like to get off of the resorts as well.

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Loved it!

Great hotel for families, we had a great time with our 2 year old. It was very hot in July but the beach was the best I've seen. The pool and water park were great for all of us. The food was so so but you don't go to Cuba for the food. The staff were lovely and the kids seemed to have a really good time at the kids club. There was an hour of kids dancing and games on the stage each evening and our little one loved it.

Dhawa Cayo Santa Maria: Great!

Just got back from one week at the Dhawa resort. I can't say anything negative about my experience. Top notch customer service and friendly staff. The manager was always around supervising his employees . Very nice to see this. Food was ok, snack bar rocks, rooms were beautiful and super clean. Nice modern decor. Really enjoyed listening to the musicians play at the bar. Beach was great. I only wish they had a bathroom closer to the beach but no big deal. Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Ocean Casa del Mar

Not impressed. Had to complain many times in order to get what we paid for. First day gave us rooms that were in totally different bungalows with my mom who was helping to look after our baby even though we requested to be in same building. They had available, but didn't want to bother. Next day problem fixed after many visits to customer service office. Broken window, balcony sliding door not locking and main electrical breaker trips when you close sliding door. Did not give us bottled water when we asked for after one of our family members got sick (gave us the run around). Pools are nice. Beach is very nice except a lot of rocks, too far from rooms, it's narrow. Food is OK, but keeps repeating and many leftovers keep getting served over and over. Hotel over all looks very nice, but design not practical. Very tiny store for souvenirs. No toilets on beach and no snack bar on beach. Staff, there are some very nice people, but there are also many who don't care, ignore you and their English is terrible. Entertainment is not that good, lasts 45 min and most of the time one lady sings opera style. A couple of years ago we had a really good experience at the formerly Eurostars hotel (now Golden Tulip).

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Very nice resort!

We just came back from a week vacation at Ocean Casa. It is a very modern new looking resort. We had a little mishap with the bathroom plumbing the minute we arrived but were quickly moved to another even better room. The resort is small enough that you don't have worry about walking a lot but if you do need a drive there is always someone to help you out. Food...it is cuba after all so have an open mind. The pool area is nice and clean with a swim up bar and a wonderful bartender. Beach is on the narrow side but super clean and you will always find a shaded place. Do try the Mike's cafe...Louise especially great and helpful making our cappuccinos grand and iced cappuccinos for both our girls. Cleaning staff (Yani) did a great job. We never had to worry about anything being stolen from our room or even from the beach as some other people wrote in reviews. We find Cubans very friendly and always helpful which made our stay at his hotel memorable. For sure we will go back next year 😁

Melia Cayo Santa Maria: Amazing

We loved it and plan on getting married there. The staff was excellent very friendly and make you feel at ease. The beach was amazing and the grounds were very clean. Daniel the cook made a a special lunch on our last day...it was the best meal I have ever had in Cuba.

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Great time

The hotel is very big, lots of walking .grounds are beautiful, both beaches - Megano and Ensenachos are gorgeous, crystal clear water, good areas for snorkelling and for swimming. Our room was in SPA section and very comfortable. The only complain maybe that bath towels were not changed for a few days. Other people complained about food- I found food is very good, lots of choices especially for seafood lovers.

Roc Lagunas del Mar: Amazing resort!!

We travelled end of April to this stunning resort. The grounds were beautiful, and always well maintained. Upon reading some reviews we were very skeptical, but overall our party of 22 had a great time. It was a family vacation when majority of our group being 18-20 yrs old. Would have like to see more entertainment during the day around the pool , and on beach. But everyone enjoyed themselves. We were to arrive at 1030 am on Saturday and arrived 0600am Sunday morning, so everyone was tired, but made up for it the rest of the week!! Would have no problems going back to this resort!!

Dhawa Cayo Santa Maria: Nice new resort

We just returned from one week stay in Dhawa and overall it was a lovely vacation. One thing that really upset us was that the Deluxe Oceanview package that we bought was nowhere close to the oceanview. Our room (848) was facing an unappealing lagoon, so future guests should be aware. Otherwise, the food was a typical Cuban variety. Beach is not busy and has a lot of available palapas. Service on the beach is a definite plus. So, go there and enjoy it. Just be aware of the 'Oceanview' false advertising.

Valentin Perla Blanca: Amazing off-season experience!

The Valentin was a last minute booking with absolutely no regrets. The hotel itself is fairly new, so the design and concept is open and spacious with a touch of elegance. The chairs and seating looks to have been very recently replaced and added to the crisp new look and feel. This was our 7th trip to Cuba, 1st to Santa Maria. Great service, drinks, fresh fruits and fresh grilled fish on the beach had us spending most of our time there. The entertainment/animation team were always engaging yet not intrusive if you just wanted to soak up some sun. Half the resort was closed with it being the off-season, though on walking around the closed side it was pretty much the same as our side, so there wasn't much to miss. If anything just less walking. This is a big well landscaped resort, so do expect to get a little walking in daily. If requesting close to the beach, ask for building 33, the short cut path to the best stretch of beach is right behind it. You are also still close to the pool and area bar/snack bar. If looking for a little less walking, ask for building 30, it is closest to the buffet and lobby. Food wise the fresh mangos and grilled meats were our daily staples, most evenings we did the alternating a la carts (french & seafood combined into one as were the Spanish and Italian). My wife particularly enjoyed the sparkling rose wine during those meals. Live music at the piano or around the lobby early evenings was nice and enjoyable, later on at the theatre (which was very nice as well) the entertainment picked up and provided good times. Being and all adult resort, they weren't kiddie shows, either. Rooms were nice and comfortable, we did the upgrade to silver, and had a bottle of rum and wine awaiting our arrival and nice bathrobes hanging outside showers built for two. King-size bed, flat screen TV, mini fridge and safe rounded out the room, with umbrellas in the closet if needed. Overall we were quite pleased with our stay at the Valentin for our 14th anniversary, and would recommend it to anyone looking for a nice place to get away and relax in modern amenities.

Resonance Blu Santa Maria: Great Resort!

We (my daughter, my friend and I), stayed in this resort for a week recently, from June 14 to June 21 and we had a good time. Although the trip was too long, because the flight had a stop in Cayo Coco, I still recommend this resort in Cayo Santa Maria for the wonderful beach and the ocean is incredible. The hotel needs some renovation. The apartment we got, had some leaking in the bathroom. The staff is very kind and the service is good. We really enjoyed our vacation!

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: In progress

Sanitation needs improvement. Male washrooms smell like urine. The mop water buckets have no ringers.Cleaners using rags as mop heads.Cleaners ringing out the rags with bare hands and not washing their hands afterwards. Rooms don't contain sharps container.Forced to dispose razors, needles and other sharps into garbage cans. Hotel understaffed during low season. Implement these recommendations and the hotel will be rated a four star.

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Fantastic for kids and adults

Just as advertised. Perfect. Great people, amenities, facilities, pools, restaurants, and beaches. The water park is amazing for kids. My wife and I would definitely come back with the kids every year.

Valentin Perla Blanca Paraiso: Beautiful Resort

This resort was beautiful and clean. The staff were outstanding. Beach was beautiful always lots of lounges. Rooms were nice and modern. Restaurants were great. We had breakfast and lunch at the snack bar everyday, food was made to order and no line ups. Main lobby bar had entertainment every night met lots of people from all over Canada!

Valentin Perla Blanca: Relax, they've got it !

Amazing service and beautiful attitudes is always a plus. Truly such great service from the bell man to the wait staff to the coconut man. The food could use some improvementing, but it's ok. I was disappointed that online the check in was 2pm but the resorts check in is 4pm. But this resort is surrounded by a beautiful beach and the pool is well maintained. There wasn't any ventaltion in the washroom ,but overall a beautiful place with amazing service

Valentin Perla Blanca: Great Resort!

Overall, an excellent resort. Very new, well kept, and a great layout. The pools and the beach are both fantastic. The staff is very helpful and friendly. Lots of variety for food options. Also, the evening entertainment is excellent!

Valentin Perla Blanca Paraiso: WONDERFUL VACATION

We stayed here from June 1-10, 2017 in the privilege section. We loved it. The resort itself is beautiful. Unfortunately for us one section was closed for upgrading so we had a bit of a walk to get to the other side. But that was a small thing. Our room was beautiful, the view amazing and the staff cleaned our room every day. There was never a day we went back to our room that we were not happy with the job they did. Dinner at the buffet was just fine...the grill always had fresh meat and seafood. We did the al a cartes and were quite happy with it. The lobster dinner was the only thing we were not happy with. At the beach we always got a cabana and they served us drinks and the grilled sandwiches were amazing. The beach itself was absolutely beautiful. We are sorry we didn't discover it before hand. The lobby bar was great, drinks and coffee were amazing. There were negatives but they were small. We spent a lot of time at the pool with the swim up bar. The resort must learn to clean the pool every morning. There were many days it had not been skimmed. Regardless of being off season this is something they must do. Mosquitos were bad...but then we went at the worst time of the year. Going forward we would not go so late in the year because of that and the heat. Bathrooms....you need to ensure they are cleaned and stocked consistently. Staff....they were amazing. At every turn the staff was helpful. I recommend this resort. I recommend going privilege as well. This is a new resort but they will have to stay on top of the little things going forward as the competition in the area is about to get very busy.

Gran Muthu Cayo Santa Maria: Very good resort friendly people

The hotel was very nice, big rooms always clean everybody was very friendly, there are a few things that they need to improve on, like an information sheet in the rooms would be nice, with numbers to call in case you need asistance, the buffet hours also they need to get matress pads and new bath towels. Food was very good most of it is just Cuban food but pretty good, except for the rice always dry or old. Melia Cayo Santa Maria: Very pleased with my choice of Melia Hotel

Melia Cayo Santa Maria is a really nice place. We usually go to to Melia Cayo Coco but as I had my granddaughter with me this was not a choice as it is adults only. The Santa Maria offers a mini club and this exceeded my expectations by far. The ladies that run the kids club are the best and my granddaughter counted the minutes for the kids club to open. What makes or breaks a stay for me are the people that run a place. Absolutely everyone bent over backwards to make our stay memorable.

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Worst resort

After been in Cuba 20 times, never a complain ,this its my first time I'm actually complaining, Food terrible!!! Even cockroaches in the Asian and buffet!! Customer service terrible! I have to call 10 times to get water or towels, no water for 2 days , we have to buy our own water.
