Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Definitely going back!

My husband and I just got back on Friday. What a beautiful resort! We had a one bedroom master suite which was awesome, two bathrooms and two balconies overlooking the ocean. The food at the buffet was great, lots of selection! The beach was nice but definitely does not compare to Cuba. The nighttime entertainment was great with lots of audience participation. The staff was very friendly and went out of their way to make sure everyone was having a good time! We will definitely be going back!

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Incredible Resort Experience

This resort was absolutely stunning. It was seamlessly immersed in nature and blended into the mountainside very naturally offering scenic views and a relaxing atmosphere. Beautiful views and excellent staff plus great facilities made this place an amazing resort. Loved everything about it. The whole experience was awesome and top notch. Definitely going back there again.

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Awesome Times

When we arrived at the Riu Bachata check in went smoothly ,they only give u 1 room key 2 would be great. The room was clean and comfortable with daily housekeeping .The food was good a large Buffet at scheduled times then another buffet for in between hours for I between hours .The A la Cart is crazy busy the line ups are long .The beach is beautiful with lots of shade could use a few more beach chairs there .The pool is a busy place during the day but,the grounds are Beautiful and we'll tak [... read more]en care of and the Bar service and entertainment are great I would definately recommend this place to others .

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Great Resort

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this resort. It was small, therefore easy to navigate. Everything was in very close proximity. Grounds were kept clean, constantly being swept, never any garbage around. Beach had sufficient loungers. The food was very good and the selection was changed daily with very little repetition, of course except for the basic fish, chicken and beef. The evening entertainment, although not quite our taste, was very good and the groups were quite professional. There is a very nice shopping mall just outside of the resort. The drinks were quite watery so that was a disappointment. Also the beach washroom was really tiny for so many people at the beach and definitely not handicapped accessible. This should be improved. We were told that 40% of the guests were return customers. We will definitely return for another visit.

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Great experience.

The Grand Bahia Principe did not disappoint. The service was great. The food was amazing. Our room was clean. The grounds were well maintained. There were activities but you had to go find them, the activity staff didn't rally people. The beach is calm but the water is murky.

Casa Marina Reef Resort: Good Value

Stayed at the Casa Marina Reef Resort for the second year in a row the last week of January with our 2 daughters and another couple. We requested adjacent rooms, first floor poolside when we booked through Tripcentral.ca and was accommodated. Rooms are well used but clean and functional. Resort is basically two parts, the reef side which faces the ocean on a reef shoreline and the beach side which has the beach waterfront. The restaurants and other services are shared between the two so it r [... read more]eally makes no difference which side .your room is on, the amenities are common to both. The reef side pool seemed to be more lively with poolside games and activities throughout the day. Bars were typical resort fare, busy at times, quiet at others. Pool side loungers were pretty much not available after 9:00am or so. Food selection was good and somewhat varied and we always found plenty to choose from. We liked the proximity of the resort to the other attractions in Sosua. Just a short walk to the beach vendors along the waterfront in town as well as plenty of restaurants and shops to investigate within minutes from the resort. Had dinner one night at a local restaraunt in town called Captain Baileys. Was enjoyable and had great service. Also visited a local icecream Parlour called Bon for a delicious treat. Overall, we would rate the resort is a solid 3 1/2 star. For the price we paid, we were pleased with the amenities and services. If you are looking for sun, decent food and accommodations without paying 5 star prices you won't be disappointed. Only thing we missed was the resort doesn't have a large lobby and has limited seating, so found ourselves sitting down by the two beach bars in the evening. Found the resort very quiet in the evenings until the shows started at 9:30 so would have liked to have something to do until then Room tip: Buildings 21, 22 and 23 (on the reef side) poolside rooms have sun exposure pretty much all day so if you have your lounger outside your ground floor room, you'll be looking for shade. Buildings 24, 25, 26 and 27 poolside rooms are in the shade all day, but sun is plentiful near the pools. We were in the 2400 building so had sun when we wanted to and pulled our loungers back to our patio for shade in the afternoon.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: GREAT VACATION !!

Very nice hotel, grounds very clean and well kept, mature trees and lots of greens, food was very good and fresh everyday. Restaurant a la carte are also good, my preference would be Japaness. Pool very big and well kept. Nice beach, long walk on the beach since the beach is so so long and also to note that there was lots of beach chair for the beach area. Staff very friendly and fun... Great service when reparation was needed. Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: bad changed to good

Our room was horrible but after advising the Guest Services Manager that our room had a celing water leak, no a/c to speak of, unable to open the patio door because it was off track, we were given a new much better room. It's a beautiful resort, however the room's bathrooms really need to be renovated. Very pleasant staff. A lot of stairs, too many if you have walking issues.

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Satisfactory resort overall: 4 stars maximum

My husband and I had a good experience overall. Our room was comfortable, with all amenities. Personnel was kind and helpful (as long as you had working knowledge of Spanish). Food was varied. We had fantastic meals in the different restaurants. The grounds were kept clean. Lots of activities were available at no cost from dancing lessons to Spanish lessons, from catamaran to kayak and stand up paddle boards. However, some of our friends encountered problems, e.g. only lukewarm water in som [... read more]e rooms, housekeeping not organized, limited help from the front desk. There were robberies. Balcony doors were forced and different items anything from computer plugs and computers to personal items were stolen. Each room was equipped with a safe but you had to pay extra for the lock. We found the extra cost of US$4.00 per day ridiculous but necessary. . We had two concerns. The Internet would only work from the lobby, no access whatsoever from the room. The resort itself was isolated. Any town worth visiting was at least one hour away, which made outside trips very lengthy. First world problems for sure, but still inconvenient.

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Great resort

Grounds were great pool was nice but closed a little early food was good drinks were good could of used a swim up bar.the alacart restraints are all very good shows were fine wouldn't suggest taking bus into town 27 people in a mini van all in all good trip

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Pleasant surprise

Upon reading so many reviews, We left for Cofresi uncertain of what to expect and I am delighted to say that our expectations were exceeded. The resort is huge, very well kept, huge number of pools, bars, restaurants, shows, events... never a dull moment. If you don't use shuttles, be prepared to walk a lot, which we chose to do. The buffet restaurants are ok, nothing spectacular, The other restaurants pretty good, and the bars excellent. Overall great value!

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: What a beautiful resort

Another great vacation. We have been coming to the Riu for years and have never been disappointed. This time with a group of six, one couple being newbee’s to the Caribbean. They loved this experience and could not get over the wonderful way the Riu staff treated them. The Ocean was choppy that week but there was a lot of fun action at the pool put on by the Animation Team, and a lot of chat to people from all over the world at the pool bar. Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: fun in the sun

The resort was great, the food was great, the staff was great. had a great time. Had some problems with the air conditioner but was fixed in a timely manner. The shows at night where very entertaining

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Great time staff was unbelievable

The rooms were clean, food was good, beer cold, grounds well kept, but the pool staff George,Veronica ,Denise ,and Yandra made our vacation we had a blast with this crew thank you so much for being fun keep it up I would come back again in a heartbeat the only thing that might be changed is the fruit drinks could be less sweet.Curt and Irene Anderson

Riu Merengue: Really and Truly the worst resort

I am so disappointed and while I cannot say much due to a lawsuit in progress I would encourage you to never stay here . From the cockroaches all over the dining room to the lack of fresh water to the excessive amount of bugs in the pool and the spiders in the room. RUI does not take pride in their property nor their management. I will see to it and make it a personal goal to ensure no one I know ever sees this resort. Riu Merengue: Really lacking

This hotel was run down and needed a facelift immediately. The staff couldn't care less about their job or the people around them. They just chatted with each other. No one to take luggage to room. No air conditioning. No warm or hot water. We switched rooms from one side of the resort to the other side and had to carry our own bags. The bars were not open. Overall just lacking in customer service. Then there was the rats running around outside the restaurants and the cockroaches in our [... read more] room. I would not recommend this location at all.

Casa Marina Sosua Trademark by Wyndham All Inclusive: Casa Marina Beach Resort

This is a great place to stay - the staff are outstanding - very friendly and helpful, the restaurants are very good - enjoyed the food! This is our second visit to this resort and its small enough to be comfortable and large enough that you don't feel like you are just part of the crowd!

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: We were at lest out of the cold

We are none smokers and found smoking to occur in all the common areas. It took nearly all day to have the room fully cleaned. The desk was not helpful or friendly., we asked for an early morning wake-up call and did not get one. We did not get sick from the food but did get sick of seeing wieners as a main course. Drinks were too sweet

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Very Relaxing!

My wife and I visited Gran Ventana for one week in February. We found the facilities clean, modern, and inviting. There was a wide variety of food to suit every palate, and the dining venues were also clean and welcoming. We can't say enough about the friendly, courteous staff maintaining and serving in all areas of the resort. We had a wonderful room facing the beach which gave us more privacy and quiet. We would certainly visit the Gran Ventana again!

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Awesome resort

The hotel is kept very clean, everywhere you look there are employees working on the gardens and every part of the resort. Very nice. The views of the pool and the ocean are amazing. Beautiful palm trees everywhere along the beach.
