Playa Costa Verde: fantastic resort

the hotel was a little outdated but overall would rate it very well looked after. our cleaning lady was amazing. upon arrival I was a little upset to discover that there was only 1 king size bed and no cot. there were 3 of sharing a room and we were suppose to have 2 beds and 1 cot. our cleaning immediately calmed me down and provided 2 cots which turned out to be more comfortable than the bed.

Don Lino Hotel: Amazing Staff

My latest trip ……Cuba’s best secret Don Lino a small unpretentious hotel in Cuba. I had looked at this resort many times but never taking the plunge and purchasing a ticket. The beach has coral the full length of it …just have to be careful going in the water Of the 15 or more cuban resorts we have been to this staff is definitely the friendliest of all. Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Fun time had by all

I have been to Cuba 7 times and have stayed all over mainly in Varadero. This was our first time in Hogin. The Hotel Sol Rio de Luna y Mares was excellent. the food was good and the rooms were clean and well kept up for Cuba. This resort like all resorts had the man made shade umbrellas on the beach, but what I loved was all the shade trees on the beach. The Hogin region was beautiful with rolling hills & greenery. The Cuban people are always friendly and happy to help you in any way. The only p [... read more]art of this trip I didn't really care for was the little airport in Hogin. Long line ups, luggage took forever to get to us. But hey if that is the worst thing to happen on a vacation in Beautiful Cuba well then that's okay. Love this beautiful country and the people.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Great resort

Very clean, friendly staff, great food. Beach seems to be in a sheltered cove, so it's calmer than you might expect. Pools sparkling and hardly used. A la cartes very good. Rooms very modern in the newer part.

Playa Costa Verde: Loved it!

Clean rooms, clean grounds, friendly staff, helpful staff, good food (except Italian restaurant), nice entertainment, one problem with room which was fixed immediately. Overall, a great experience. Hope to go again!

Don Lino Hotel: Relaxing Resort

Things were clean, and the staff were very friendly. The food could have been better and the hours the food was available could be changed. The room was clean and comfortable. The beach was nice, but some newer lounge chairs would have been nice. Most of the lounge chairs available on the beach were broken.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: G

Great resort with a wonderful staff but unfortunately needs some updating! All Cuban resorts should try harder to make their electrical ie. plugs & lighting more to North American standards we should not have to bring Adapters and strain our eyes with poor lighting.Also on two separate mornings we had to clear our table to have breakfast we don't blame the staff they work with what they are supplied , it seemed they were understaffed for breakfast and under supplied for utensils and such.

Don Lino Hotel: Relaxing but entertaining

I really enjoyed my stay at the Don Lino; the staff was amazing!! I enjoyed the fact that it was a small resort as we had the chance to get aquainted with most of the other guests that we hope to meet up with next year at the same resort. The rooms were clean and the service prompt. I would definitely go back!!

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: A very spacious resort!

Once I upgraded to a bungalow I found the room to be comfortable,clean and the cost was reasonable. The staff was very friendly and the service was good with lots of options for food and drink! A large resort and easy to get turned around at first.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: beautiful beach

Club Amigo is a very large resort with lots to offer. Beautiful beach, nice pools with swim up bar, lots of restaurants. This being said made for large line ups at best buffets, no availability to 'a LA carte ' restaurants, no tables available and shortage of favorite foods. Food was very good, drinks cold and weather warm and sunny. Had to purchase water to drink and brush teeth, as water was treated but had a very strong chorine like taste which also came through in the drinks from the ice cub [... read more]es. Rooms in the standard area are small and musty with no balconies and twin beds.

Don Lino Hotel: Small resort.....Big impact!

I got more than I expected. Met new friends, and was able to experience the culture. Within one week, I knew names of people that worked in the resort, and even got a hug. This was a first for me, and was totally in awe with the whole experience.

Sol Turquesa Beach: good spot too go i think

it was good little smelly in spots out walking but could,ve been the overcast weather,pools were good,beach was good and the buffet was good,over all it was nice but weather but thats not the resorts fault

Playa Pesquero: Everything you would want plus more.

The restaurants are all top notch.So many places to stop for a drink and a snack. The people at this resort are all above and beyond friendly.Pools and grounds are so clean. The maids do a great job with the rooms.We have been many times and we will be going back.

Sol Turquesa Beach: Fun times at Memories

Well after reading the reviews I was worried about going to this resort. Turns out alot of the reviews are greatly exagerrated! We had a great expierence! We travelled March 2-9 family of 4. kids 14 and 9 Its about a 1 hour drive from the airport you get a real reality check of how they live. Rooms Ours was very clean. We were in the 500's close to everything. Hot water everyday and the maid was amazing they work very hard and make little money so please appreciate what they do for you!! We tipped her and gave her little things which she appreciated very much. Our fridge was stocked full daily!! Towels are in the room if your diamond club if your not you get a ticket. So not lose your towels you will have to pay! Buffet ITS CUBA!! We didnt mind the food yes they could have kept some things warmer but they was a variety of eveything when we were there. Fresh pasta bar which in a previous review stated there was no pasta bar so maybe they just didnt have that week. Lots of salads to choose from etc. Service was great they were always asking us what we needed etc. There is ketchup,mustard salt and pepper so no need to bring it. The Cuban restaurant does breakfast as well which is good they dont say they do not sure why. Beach Beach is good yes there is seaweed but not bad when we were there. Snorkling is not great which we really missed. Took hobbie cat out really nice. There are no sand fleas! Pools Gorgeous very clean and well taken care of. Good entertainment daily Aqua bar is great bartenders were superb. Alacart's were good Italian was our fav. Stairs Yes there are stairs you are on the side of a mountain. Your travel agent should tell you this. If you have mobility issues there are Golf carts that are available at all times. We didnt mind them at all. Nightly Shows Not bad Lobby Bar Really nice we went every night had a drink and relaxed. Bugs There are no seeums that bite. We only got two bites some were bitten bad I have to admit. Grounds Beautiful and the gardeners work very hard to keep it that way Check out Smooth golf cart picked us up with our luggage on time. Call 10 mins prior All the people that work there are very kind and very respectful. They always helped us when we asked all with a smile on their face! I would probably not go back to Holguin again only because we like to try different places.

Gorgeous beach & pools,at this resort. Older resort which could use some updates for sure. Very friendly staff,food was okay. Good value for the price we paid,but not a 4.5 star rating as advertised..

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Great trip

Overall I had an amazing week at this hotel. I stayed in the tropical section and the room was decent but had no fridge and was not the best, however I did not spend much time in the room. A friend stayed in the villas and they were a lot nicer and quieter. The resort was huge! Lots of walking to get anywhere so you don't get to know everyone. The hotel is right next to local beach parties and restaurants which was a highlight of the trip and would recommend this hotel just for that experience.  [... read more]Amazing snorkeling if you take a paddleboat as well. Beautiful beaches and a nice pool. Food wasn't great but I hear that's everywhere on cuba. I recommend coming to this hotel if don't mind the huge size and if you want an amazing experience with locals. The market is also right next to it and it's amazing as well. This was my first time to Cuba and it was overall an amazing experience and I'll be definitely coming back soon :)

Don Lino Hotel: Beautiful resort - wonderful weather

Being smaller than most resorts, I found everything within reach - the beach, pool, dining and bar areas etc. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and the food was good. Of course, the wonderful weather helped make a great week even better.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Another great trip.

Had another great trip to our home away from home. This is our second time going to this resort and noticed alot more upkeep. The grounds were very tidy and clean. Will definatley be going back. The only thing that could of been better is to have poutine at the snack bar by the square pool more then just one day. lol.

Grounds well kept and all the palm trees and gardens were beautiful. The beaches and pools were great. Food ok. Rooms dated and old but who cares when most of my time was not in room. All in all a good deal. Would go back again.

Don Lino Hotel: Had a great time, would defently go back

Villa Don Lino is a small but cozy resort We had more than a very good time, knowing beforehand that Villa Don Lino was a 2 to 3 star property. We found that the food at Don Lino was just as good if not better than many 4 to 5 star resorts that we have visited previously. Included in our trip was a free catamaran ride which was a lot of fun, with a scenic informative drive each way. One day during the week the staff put on a “Cuban Day” showing us how “milk” sugar cane, with an expositio [... read more]n of Cuban music, dancing, foods, coffee and drinks. A simple highlight was a horse and buggy ride to the site where Columbus landed in 1492 and the beautiful Playa Blanca Beach. We enjoyed watching all the animals around the resort, horses, pigs, chickens and a rooster, dogs, cats, iguanas, salamanders. Our one complaint is there was not enough Toilet Paper in the public washrooms. The rooms are clean with lovely balconies or porches (depending on whether you were on the first or second floor of your building), but the rooms can use some repairs, for example dresser drawers may or may not work. Our only regret was that we only booked for one week rather than two. The bottom line is, for the price I don't think you can find a better place.
