Occidental Caribe: Disappointed in the Rooms

The grounds and the hotel itself were very nice. We had no problem with the service, staff were friendly and helpful. We had to change rooms 3 times. The first room was unclean, smelt, and the bathroom was gross. We requested a new room right away and were given one. The second room was a bit better than the first. The main room was cleaner but the bathroom was still yucky and the toilet barely flushed with each use. We requested to move again and were given a room in building 2. This room was c [... read more]leaner, had a ceiling fan and looked upgrade. The bathroom was somewhat upgraded, the tub looked in newer condition. The toilet worked as it should. Although this room was better than the other two rooms the ceiling in the bathroom was leaking and left our vanity soaked all the time. I would love to go back to the Dominican Republic just not this resort.

Barcelo Bavaro Palace: great experience

We really enjoy everything, was a magnificent experience from the beginning till the end. i will highly recommend it to my friends. staff were very kind and helpful i will suggest for the price to have gazebos on the beach area.

Barcelo Bavaro Beach: Everything was perfect except for...

Almost everything was perfect. The pools, the beach, the food and especially the staff were all amazing. However, the rooms are in massive need of renovations. They are tired and do not do justice to the rest of the resort. We unfortunately will not stay on the Adult side until the rooms are redone.

Barcelo Maya Riviera: Amazing Experience

My wife and I visited Barceló for our baby moon. We doth were impressed with how clean and beautiful the resort was. The food was great and the perks of being a premium guest was well worth it. The view and the beaches were beautiful. And I can not stop talking about the HUGE king size bed. I need it. I want it. I will have it. Thanks for wonderful memories.

Barcelo Bavaro Beach: Relaxing

The pool was great and lots of chairs. Most of the time we could get some. Beach was awesome and close. We like how pool and beach were close to rooms. Buffet was Ok, decent variety. Close restaurants were ok but all similar. We were expecting all inclusive but some restaurants charged for a reservation. Make sure you take an adapter for the AC outlets as they do not accept 3 prong plugs. Rooms had the typical smell. Allegro Cozumel: Beautiful location!

A beautiful location, beautiful beach and great snorkeling right from the resort. The resort was perfect for our multi generation vacation. Small enough to walk easily and find each other. Lots of deck chairs available around the pools and on the beach, never had a problem finding shady or sunny spots to relax. Tons of activities for all ages pool and beach volleyball, pool games, cornhole, darts, bingo and so much more. A games room for evening fun and entertaining shows. Food was good, buffet [... read more] was a bit repetitive but good and there was always a chef cooking a different fresh option each night. The a la carte meals were fantastic. Staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms were small and a little dated, but kept clean and beds were comfortable. Each porch had hammock which was a nice touch. Cozumel airport was small and really easy to arrive at, only about 20mins to the resort.

Barcelo Maya Tropical: Great place and service

Great grounds, public area, 24 hour service, safety on resort, great for families, many options for everyone. Would recommend this resort to anyone, usually don’t write reviews, but I had a wonderful experience.

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Amazing resort

This resort is immaculate. The grounds are prestige. There is more than enough to keep the whole family entertained. We did not feel.that we needed to go.off resort for anything. We have spent years traveling to all inclusive resorts. By far the best. For the.most part food was very good Although Spanish and surprisingly Mexican were not very good.

Barcelo Maya Riviera: Our experience.

This resort was by far the best resort i have ever been to. The staff were professional, food was amazing, and the resort was prestine. A true 5 star resort. We will be back next year. If you are even thinking about this do not over think it just go here. I strongly recommend this to anyone!!!!

Barcelo Solymar: Family Trip

We had an excellent trip The hotel is a little dated The villas were very helpful when you have most of your family with you very spacious while we are there, they were working on the hotel, which was good to see trying to make things up-to-date the people were amazing they made you feel very welcome we had no issues with the food. beach was beautiful. All in all the hotel was comfortable I would definitely go back.

Barcelo Bavaro Beach: Really gone downhill in the last 5 years

The hotel LOOKED exactly the same, but the Customer Service Dept. was sadly lacking in people who understood and spoke English. Also disappointed in the Air Transat Rep. who was almost rude when addressing me. I took me until Thursday to obtain face cloths for the room because they said (Cust. Serv.) that I was not listed as Premium level. The Brisa restaurant whom I had reserved was also lacking in a cook who could not accomodate people with special needs diets. I am allergic to pepper and a [... read more]sked that it not be used in my food. The result was a blacked (charred black) steak which was SUPPOSED to be beef bourgonyon with mashed potatoes and caramalized onions. I was given rice (barely cooked) and no onions at all. On the other hand, I had a reservation at Chez Gourmet and had really good service and ChateauBreand. Cooked perfectly. I was very pleased with this restaurant. Also, the Caribe Buffet Restaurant was very accomodating and had a wide selection of food from turkey, ham and the best roast beef I've had in a long time. The servers were excellent and anticipated everything. Suffice it to say, I will not be going back there again, which is a shame because that was my fifth trip to that hotel. I started going there in the 80's before there was an adult side and a children's side. This would have been my last hurrah as I turned 76 this year and was travelling alone. I found that because I didn't have a partner beside me that I was ignored at the bars and by pool servers for the most part.

Would NOT recommend this hotel. Ran out of towels. And toilet paper. It’s old and needs renovation. Ran out of rum and whisky every night. Including mojito mint for drinks. Was only at 40% capacity. Rooms were super old beds very uncomfortable would NOT recommend

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: So much to do!

The resort grounds are beautiful with so many choices for things to do. We loved the variety of restaurants and pools and found the service very attentive. The reservation system for restaurants is a little frustrating but in the end we were able to grab 4 reservations for a la carte dinners which were all very good. We spent most of our days by the pool but the beach was just as fun. We loved walking to the pier to check out the fish. We love walking so having the mall, the mexican shop and the [... read more] mini putt, as well as access to the other 3 resorts was fantastic and having the double decker bus if we got tired was helpful as well. The rooms are dated but overall had everything we needed. We earned our meals walking up and down to the third floor each time. Overall this resort was a win!

Occidental Tucancun: OK but for the food

At first glance this hotel looks very good. It is well maintained but tired and in need of some serious upgrades. In particular in the bathroom. Cracked and leaky sink, antique tap with a mind of its own. Air conditioning had no control. Loud and freezing, we complained three times with no result unless we were willing to change rooms. The staff was excellent. Personable and very professional. Special mention to Carolina in the lower buffet and Hermerlinda upstairs. BAD FOOD. Unimaginative and repetitive selection. Tasteless for the most part with the same boiled tasting fish and chicken in both buffets every day. Chicken legs or wings with nary a breast to me seen. The specialty restaurants were far from special. The Italian La Trattoria had no reason to call itself Italian. As an example, the Ossobuco was tasteless, very chewy with an abomination of a sauce splashed on top. And the marrow was missing from the bone! This is a sin in Italy. The system of booking a reservation was meant only to test your resolve. You got to get up at sunrise to join a lineup. Then they fill up before the line ends. Just about every one complained about the food. The Occidental Costa Cancun just up the road would have been a much better choice. We shall not return.

Barcelo Ixtapa: Beautiful View

Overall a good experience. The resort is clean and nice. The rooms were good. Beds were firm and very comfortable. We had good water pressure and lots of hot water. The view from the balcony was very beautiful overlooking the beach and ocean. We saw beautiful sunsets. The staff are very pleasant and try to be helpful. The breakfast and lunch buffets were good. Food was very good and hot off the grill. One huge disappointment was us missing out on a seafood lunch bbq they had one Saturday which included Bbq lobster. We had no knowledge of it and it seemed everyone else did as there was a huge lineup early for it. By the time we got there everything was gone. The following Saturday we lined up early only to be disappointed to not seeing any lobster. The entertainment shows were completely in Spanish. It would have been nice to be at least partly in English. The beach is nice but the ocean has some decent waves that can push and shove you really good. The view is beautiful with a couple of islands off the beach making it postcard worthy. We saw a whale on our last day from the pool which was pretty cool The weather is beautiful, hot and sunny everyday. The pool was nice and a comfortable temperature. The staff at the pool bar were quick and friendly. We rarely waited more than a minute or two for service. The liquor was all brand name and not cheap generic stuff that I received in the resorts in Dominican Republic. Overall it’s a decent, very clean resort and a good bang for your buck.

Barcelo Maya Tropical: Great time was had by all

Loved our time at Barcelo Maya Tropical. Rooms were large, bed was so comfortable. Staff was friendly and helpful. Beach and pools were beautiful. Great place for kids. Wide selection of food, restaurants were fabulous. Sports bar was fun, markets were plentiful with great stores for shopping. ❤️

Barcelo Maya Caribe: TRYING TO SAVE OTHERS FROM HAVING THE WORST VACATION

Honestly, this place was a huge letdown. We paid way more than we have at other resorts, and it was just not worth it. Pretty much everything was booked the whole time restaurants, the spa so we didn’t get to enjoy any of the stuff we were looking forward to. No one tells you anything, either. You’re basically left to figure everything out on your own. The communication was awful. On our last night, we finally got a dinner reservation (at 9:30 PM!) and I got kicked out for not wearing pants, no  [... read more]one ever mentioned that was a rule. The staff just seemed annoyed most of the time and weren’t helpful at all. Anything you ask for takes forever, if it happens at all. Our room didn’t get cleaned for three days, we ran out of towels and water, and the A/C barely worked. The first time we called, no one came. The second time, someone showed up and said “it’s fine” and left. We were also dealing with horrible paint fumes for two days because they were painting nearby rooms. Couldn't even air out the room because opening the door shut off the A/C. Everything costs extra room service, wine, most activities. So much for “all-inclusive.” The food was DISGUSTING usually cold and the staff at guest services had serious attitude. If you don’t speak Spanish, don’t expect much help. The pools were DIRTY, SLIMEY AND CLOUDY. This was honestly one of the worst hotel stays we’ve ever had. Save your money and go somewhere else, we’re definitely not coming back.

Barcelo Maya Tropical: Fun In The Sun

This resort is huge, a little too big for our liking. The restaurants are very nice and the food quality was excellent, not so much in the buffets. Same food everyday and every night in the buffets and selection wasn't the best. We did pay $5.00 each and enjoyed the buffet at the Barcelo Palace and found that buffet to be excellent. Way more choices and the quality of items were suburb. Lots of people smoking in and around the pool which we found very disturbing and rude. I wish that ther [... read more]e would have been a designated smoking area so that we did not have to be subjected to the smoking. The rooms were decent and the housekeeping staff worked hard to keep them neat and tidy. All of the staff were outgoing and were very pleasant. Monica was amazing, our favourite employee.

Barcelo Maya Caribe: WARNING DON'T GO

I honestly don’t understand how this place has such great reviews because it was far from amazing. The first night we arrived, my child had an accident, and the way the front desk staff treated us made me want to leave the resort that same day. They were rude, completely unhelpful, and when I tried to explain the situation while upset, they rolled their eyes at me instead of helping arrange transportation to the hospital. Zero empathy. Second issue everything at this resort costs extra. The w [... read more]aterpark, bowling, arcade, ping-pong, pool tables—literally all of it comes with an extra charge. That was a shock because every other resort we’ve been to included those things free. Third, the food was awful. The buffet and snack bar food made my whole group sick with stomach aches and diarrhea. The à la carte restaurants were the only places the food was decent, but even then, you only get four reservations for a 10-day stay. Really? Lastly, the rooms were disgusting. The bed felt like sleeping on dirt no matter how many times we asked for clean sheets. The smell of mold was unbearable it felt like it was everywhere in the room. It was uncomfortable, dirty, and honestly unacceptable. I would never recommend this resort to anyone. Save your money and go somewhere that actually cares about their guest. Oh I forgot also the beach is disgusting they don't even bother to clean up all the disgusting seaweed that collects on the beach, also if your looking for chairs by the pool or clear clean water, you definitely wont find that here. Be ready to party with the locals as they will all get drunk and blast there stereo near the kids pool. Watch out for the staff that rides his motorcycle on the pathways especially your children as he will be on his cell phone while driving on pedestrian walk way. I'm so glad to be home what a waste of money. Worst vacation ever
