Grand Oasis Cancun: Grand Oasis Cancun, Mexico

The room was clean, towels etc plentiful. The food at the restaurants we went to was always well presented and tasteful. The pool area was always clean and plenty of seating for everyone. We didn't go on any excursions because we went to relax and enjoy the beach and pool.

Grand Oasis Cancun: Grand oasis

Grounds are lovely but rooms are in need of a hughe update. We are in our 50,s but still had a good time the Italian restaurant was amazing. This resort is for a much younger crowd as we heard kids all night long. The beds were very compy. I slept good.

Grand Oasis Palm: Great family resort

Resort was nice, food pretty good, beach beautiful. Service was lacking- weird because we usually receive great service in Mexico. Tons of activities for the kids. Not much to do if you are looking to party but luckily we weren't.

Grand Oasis Sens: Take me back!

The Grand Oasis Sens was overall a very good resort. The staff was very accommodating and the food was great! If you stay, you have to make sure to get reservations at the Black Hole and Benezuza, they are both amazing experiences! There are a lot of stairs throughout the resort that would definitely not be an issue unless you have bad knees/mobility issues. The upgrade to sian ka'an is definitely worth the money...the room upgrade is great and the access to premium liquor is very nice. The  [... read more]resort is located at the south end of the hotel strip and is only a short $1 buss ride into the main entertainment area. Buses are safe, clean and run 24 hours a day.

Grand Oasis Sens: Very nice resort with a few service issues

The beach was amazing. The pools were nice and well maintained, rooms were nice but could use a bit of updating and maintenance. The staff was friendly for the most part, however bars closed early for an adults only resort and the check-in/out process was very slow and painful. Small detail and not as important, but I've been to 3 star resorts that had pool side service, unfortunately that did not happen at this resort

Grand Oasis Riviera: Recent Stay

Small resort... reasonably well maintained. Process to reserve at 'a la cartes' was strange... most people aren't looking to have to stand in line each and every day they want to make a reservation. That being said, access to the restaurants didn't seem to be a problem despite very few seatings being available and the food was very good... 'blackened filet' at the Steakhouse was awesome! Service was very friendly but VERY slow... seemed generally understaffed! Pools were COLD with the exception of the pool in the area dedicated to the kids. Not what we have been used to in previous resort experiences... not likely to return but still enjoyed our vacation... great access to long walks on the beach!

Grand Oasis Riviera: Would Not Promote This Resort

This resort is NOT what it appears to be..Our rooms were suppose to be Pool Gardenview Rooms and we were in the Children's section with a swamp behind our room and no pool in sight. There were trees in the swamp was that suppose to be our Gardenview Room..Our Room smelt musty and our pillows were sour smelling. I advised the Oasis staff as well as the Air Canada Rep..and basically nothing was done to correct the situation. They showed me the type of rooms we were suppose to have but they only had one and it was on the second floor so they gave us the rooms at the back behind the Children's area. The patio was dirty, never swept or washed and the lounge chairs were covered with bird droppings. The pools were NOT user friendly, no hand rails to assist guest to enter the pools safely..the one pool only had a ladder to get in and out..one of the other pools was so slippery at the entry point someone could have easily fallen and hit their head on the large rocks that were around the pool. They were for sure not meant for older people (late 50's to early 70's). At the pool bars the music was so boring that we actually asked the bar tender to TURN IT OFF. The Restaurants were small and in order to get a reservation you had to be in line at 4:00 pm each day, reservations were only booked between 4:00 pm & 5:00 pm but that didn't make any difference by 4:05 pm every reservation was booked. The food was okay but we have had better. Front Desk Clerks left a lot to be desired..trying to get US Funds changed into pesos was an experience and a half...had to sign the photo copy of our passports again, and then another paper was presented and we had to sign that as well....after 20 minutes we finally got our $10.00 US changed into pesos. Yet another couple went up and with second had their pesos without any signature and they were exchanging a lot more money. I think this resort is more for people that are there on their honeymoon and not a group of people on a vacation to have some fun. We booked a tour with the Air Canada Rep. the cost was $200.00 US per couple..It was a trip over to Cozumel with sight seeing etc. we were suppose to be able to shop in Playa del Carmen for an hour prior to loading the ferry but the NONE of the stores were open that early in the morning. Parts of the tour were okay but got rather frustrated with all the time that was wasted waiting...we were also suppose to be able to shop in Cozumel when we got back from the jeep tour of the island...BUT because it took so long to get from point A to point B we were told there would be no shopping in Cozumel and we were directed to go directly to the ferry to head back to Playa Del Carmen..once back in Play Del Carmen we stood and waited again until they finally told us to follow the guides back to the place to get the shuttle back to the resort (this was a 25 minute walk back to this location). Not impressed. This by means is any fault of Trip Central Melissa Alexander was very helpful in getting our trip organized and would use Trip Central again without a problem.

Grand Oasis Sens: Service was lacking

Hotel, food, beach and pool were great. Service was poor and lacking. Room cleanliness was not up to par. A la carte restaurants were booked all week. The coordination of available bars being open was an issue.

Grand Oasis Palm: Great family resort!

Good food and service! The rooms were clean and nice. Lots of kids on the resort so it's perfect for families. The resort is on the cancun strip so it's very easy to take a bus and go "downtown" where there's really good nightlife such as coco bongo and señor frogs.

Grand Oasis Cancun: Will never go back.

Overall the hotel was a complete disappointment. Service, cleanliness, food, rooms, staff ability to speak English was so bad even security wasn't 100% reliable. Being offered drugs two feet onto the beach, and in the resort was a constant. Concierge accessibility was nonexistent. More then one account of money, and other items missing from people's rooms during our stay. Tried emailing my " agent " for confirmations during my stay, responses were intermittent at best.

Grand Oasis Cancun: Don't Stay Here!

This hotel is in a bad need of repairs. We were told that they are putting 100 million dollars into the facility - yes, they were painting but bathroom fixtures were old, mouldy and broken. The construction and painters started their day off early and ended it late. They were on our balconies and it made it very awkward. Walls are paper thin and the security does nothing for loud guests. We had 4 beach towels for 5 people... no more. We didn't have bath towels for 2 days in our room. Grand Oasis Cancun: super resort

So many options for eating and a large variety of nightlife! Rooms are clean and the resort was well kept. Staff is friendly. Large footprint of a hotel, so lots of walking to get to everything on the resort.

Grand Oasis Cancun: Grand Oasis Cancun is a JOKE!!!!!

I've been to plenty of resorts and very, very reasonable. But for a place like this in unbelievable pathetic and embarrassing. Other than the people I met on this trip and the beach was good (other than u cannot take the lounger past a rope line and the beach volleyball court has a forest behind w/ roots/branches sticking out of it) I know travel agents have no say on what goes on at these resorts but if you get these types of complaints~~~Why promote them? Here is my breakdown : 1) C [... read more]heck-in is F*** SLOW!!!!!!! I arrived at the resort around 9pm and was maybe 8th in line?... It took me an hour to get checked in....One guy working. I saw other workers walking around doing nothing.... Also the guy who checked me in had the smart @$$ remark on when I asked him if there is courtesy shower cause I have a late flight the end of my trip. He says... "Make friends"... Serious???? 2) To pay for a room safe lock is sometimes ok (don't know why it's not part of the hotel fees) but to pay $7US a day for a whole week is friggin' robbery! 3) Pay for an up-grade of $25/day (NOT on ROOMS but for specialty dining / drinks) That means people who don't do this is NOT ENTITLED to it AFTER PAYING good money for an all inclusive is a JOKE!!! 4) For people who didn't get these "Black Wristbands" Have to lineup EVERY DAY at 6:00pm to reserve a time. 5) For other restaurants you have there's a waiting list~~~So that means you have to leave your day activities, cleanup, then lineup to get a dinner spot~~~Most likely, it'll be an hour late...Unbelievable!!! 6) If you're S.O.L. on getting in on any of these restos~~~you go to the buffet and you guess it, another long @$$ lineup..Serious??? The food in there MUST be the leftovers from the other specialty restos... To have NO made to order pasta is sad.... Only edible thing I had was spaghetti/meatballs with day old nuggets..Geeeeez 7) Breakfast~~~Isn't that supposed to be the most important meal?? Only good thing was the lovely lady who made the eggs (bless her for feeding me) But to have BACON for only ONE day I was there is embarrassing~~~Even Cuba had bacon EVERYDAY for breakfast. 8) My room was 4410 (wk of Feb12-19, 2017) My door can be easily be opened from the other but giving it a good push (no key card required) Of course I complained and lo and behold they'll get someone there...an hour later nothing~~~ So I didn't bother cause I've been waiting wait too long. Meeting new friends and having sunny weather saved a bit for this trip~~~Grand Oasis Cancun is a money grabbing resort that only cares for people who paid $200 EXTRA on top of their vacation. JJ ARROZ PS : This rant is a God honest truth, But I'll be really surprised this comes into print or forwarded to the resort.... But Trip Advisor and other hotel reviews will know. Grand Oasis Riviera: Poor customer service

Though the resort had nice pools, great beach and wonderful food I found the customer service was poor. There was no orientation to become acquainted with the features of the hotel, restaurants available, how to reserve at the restaurants and times and locations of shows. When we had a room problem we were not offered any resolution. Only when we demanded a solution did they find an alternative for us. The food was fabulous and highly recommend. The bed was very comfortable and the resort wa [... read more]s clean. Easy and close access to pools and beach areas. A few times we had an issue with sewer smell in our room. When we complained they did spray the room with a freshener but the problem repeated itself.

Grand Oasis Cancun: Mixed emotions

For a first time in Cancún and to compare to other resorts we were a bit disappointed at first. We booked grand oasis for the entertainment and the restaurant options. Although there are 2 buffets the remaining restaurants often had lineups and did not take reservations. You have to wait in line to get your name on the list and then hang around until they call you. Buffet is standard for dinner, horrible for breakfast. Again waiting for a buffet and then only have most trays emptied and to be refilled by random dishes. The room: well we weren't there to spend time in the room right? So decent and clean. But if you get a room with a connecting door, be prepared to hear everything loud and clear.

Grand Oasis Riviera: vacation almost ruined

I picked this hotel mainly because of its beach, calm waters all year round from the reef that protected it. When we got to the hotel after 6 hours of travel, we were greeted by the news that there was no room for us and that our only choice was to be transferred to another hotel. Thank god for my cell phone that i was able to call/email/text Tripcentral and I am almost sure that when they saw I was not going to back down, they told my partner that for $70.00 a night, they will upgrade us to a b [... read more]etter room. At this point, we were tired and so angry about the ridiculous situation that I said if you will move us to another hotel, then I want to be moved to a hotel of my choice and not what they would pick for us. After a few more exchanges of words, we were finally given one of their rooms in the adult section (Sian Kaan). The room was nice and big but i didn't like the fact that we had it cleaned in the mornings and we would come back after dinner noticing that our room was oddly fixed again. We tried three of their a la carte restaurants and they were good. It seemed that most of the staff weren't too happy working there, only forces a smile and hello as you greeted them. During the busy hours in their buffet restaurant, it seemed that they were always short-staffed. After that initial confrontation with the front desk staff on the very first day of our vacation, it pretty much dampened our demeanour and I could honestly say that we will not go back to this resort.

Grand Oasis Palm: Ok resort but Cancun is AWESOME!

Elevators are the worst so tiny and u can wait a long time during busy hours. Beach was beautiful stayed on it almost all week. Pool doesnt get much sun at all so never swam in it. Food was ok was expecting better. Wifi is 30 USD for 5 days but signal comes in and out. Night entertainment was not the best found myself bored and in bed by 8 or 9pm every night. Dont buy what they call "silver jewelry" on the beach as its not silver and broke in the 1st hour. Dolphin excursion was the best day of m [... read more]y trip soo worth the money and it is like a 2 min walk to the doc for the boat. Rooms had nice views and were clean. Nice cleaning lady! Check in and out was quick. Short bus ride into downtown cancun but u get bugged to buy things and it is SUPER annoying. Love cancun will go again but will stay at a different resort.

Grand Oasis Cancun: Less than we expected

Before booking this hotel you should be aware of a few things: 1. You get what you pay for. This place was a little cheaper than some others and we got what we paid for. The rooms were ok but not great, the place was clean enough and in good enough repair but I would give it 2.5 to 3 stars. Not the 3.5 advertised. Never enough towels, toilet ran if you didn't fiddle inside, took 15 minutes (yes 15) to get warm water in the shower and several more first world problems. 2. The place advertised  [... read more]several restaurants. This is a very big resort. 1,400+ rooms. For simplicity of operation they have several on one side that are duplicated (under a different name) on the other side. All of which were very pedestrian. A hamburger stand by the pool, a taco stand, a coffee bar, a hamburger restaurant, etc. all count as 'restaurants'. As you start to eliminate these your options diminish quickly. There is one "steak house" and I use that term generously. You must make a reservation and there are limited sittings (which keeps their costs down). They have several types of meat cooking on large spits continuously and you put veggies on your plate (buffet style) and then they come around every few minutes with a different type of meat (pork, beef, turkey, filet minion that tasted the same as all the other meat). All over cooked and you never knew what's coming next so can't plan for it. Very disappointing. 3. They do have several "levels" of service you can pay extra for and as a result you need to wear an annoying wrist band the entire time. The "better" bars and restaurants are accessible to those that paid "extra". We did not. Again. We got what we paid for. 4. I'm not a big drinker but unless you like wading into the pool for your drinks at the Wet Bar, the rest of the bars are actually very inconveniently positioned which results in a long walk to grab a drink. Very few of the bars had rye-whisky-bourbon, and served Scotch instead. Several bars would only make mixed drinks (strawberry daiquiri or piña colada etc) when it worked for them. ie: ran out of mix; the bar just closed; the bar closed for dinner hour; the bar is only for the restaurant.... and finally, I'm absolutely sure the booze is VERY watered down. My wife, a light-weigh drinker by all accounts had 6 piña coladas one afternoon with not even a "buzz" and then, another day, one marguerita "off resort" that wasted her.... you do the math. 5. This is a PARTY resort. Not recommended if you have little kids or are seeking a relaxing getaway. We were woken up every Night 4-5 times between midnight and 5am with people screaming and partying hard in our building, and we supposedly had the quiet building of the 5 in the complex. We were there jan28-feb4, 2017. Not spring break but it certainly felt like it. I'm sure many want this atmosphere but we weren't expecting it. 6. They did have free entertainment in the main building every night from 7-8/830 and that was good. We did use their massage services and although an extra cost they were good. They also have several clubs that really only get going after 10pm. We weren't there for that so I can't offer feedback on them. They do have a nice beach. Nice sand on the beach and in the water. Red flag was out the entire week due to rough water at this time of year. Big waves but the ocean was reasonably warm once you acclimatize. We left the hotel pool to the kids and drunks. We had plenty of time in the water off resort snorkelling. 7. We did several 'off resort excursions' but I booked those on-line myself before we arrived. They will book that stuff for you if you want to leave it until you get there. 8. Bring Pecos as it will cost you to exchange at hotel or in town. They were at 18.9 pecos to 1 USD while exchange rate was at 21:1although you bank will charge a fee as well. Obviously this will change. So in summary - My rating: Food: 1.5 out of 5 Room/Bldg: 2.0 out of 5 Staff: 2.5 out of 5 Atmosphere 1.5 out of 5 Bars: 1.0 out of 5 Beach: 4 out of 5 Pools: 3 out of 5 Location: 4 out of 5 Extra services: 3 out of 5 Entertainment: 3.5 out of 5

Grand Oasis Palm: OK place

The room was very nice, the beach had a lot of algea. The food was not too good, everybody told me to go to Mexico because the food was so much better than Cuba, it was not the case. The 3 buffet were OK. ...the a la carte restaurants were " fusion style " none of them were just Mexican....we were extremely disappointed. We will go back to Mexico for sure but never again in Cancun it is just way to americanised for us....

Grand Oasis Cancun: Truly the Entertainment Resort!

There is lots to do at the Grand Oasis in Cancun! On one side, you can listen to music, party, and enjoy a more crowded area with tons of entertainment. On the other, you can relax quietly on the beach on their beach beds and listen to the crashing waves of the ocean. There are not many resorts that offer this contrast, and it is truly appreciated. Staff was wonderful, very informative and friendly. The beach beds at the Sian Ka'an Beach Club was a wonderful experience. You must wake up early to get one as they are first come first serve. However, you do get service directly to your cabana (food and drinks) which is much appreciated when you are trying to experience paradise. There are plenty of different buffets and restaurants that you can choose from. I highly suggest Maki Taco and Careyes!
