Occidental Nuevo Vallarta: Fantastic Experience All Around

Checking in and out was well organized. The resort was very clean. The housekeeping made up our rooms beautifully every day. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. The food was delicious, lots of variety, and very high quality. They had very well run activities during the day. The evening shows were amazing. I would definitely come back.

Starfish Cayo Guillermo: Worst Vacation Yet

This was our Fourth trip to Cuba. The resort was small which we liked. However the beach was a mess of seaweed and was never cleaned. In our room the TV didn't work and it took four requests to get it fixed. The inside door handle came off every time we opened the door and it never got fixed. The sand fleas nearly destroyed my legs and I am still suffering after arriving home. The buffet was poorly organized and the service was horrific. The Sunquest rep was useless and appeared more interested in eating than providing help. Also it was too difficult to change money. Cuba needs to improve its quality or drop its prices.

Occidental Punta Cana: Very Disappointing.

We travelled to Occidental Grand Punta Cana from November 16-23, 2014, as a couple. Our initial impression as we checked in the lobby was that the resort was run down. When we got to the room, this confirmed that the resort was outdated and hardly felt anything like a 4 star. The bathroom was terrible, the bathtub was yellow and stained and the corking was gone. The pools are shallow and not very clean. It was impossible to get good spots at the beach, even if we put our towels at 6am, people j [... read more]ust take them off ( the transat reserved area of the beach is Quebers who stay for weeks and do whatever)!! The buffet is okay, always the same and if you enjoy Kenny G, that's the only cd they play!! We also had to fight to get restaurant bookings, at first we were told there was no reservations available, so we found an Air Transat rep who came with us and somehow spots became available!! The restaurants were good, but we skipped on the Steak house as everyone seems to get sick from eating there. The pizza up on the terrace above the theatre is over rated, but it's still better than the buffet. The Michael Jackson tribute show on Monday night is good!! Overall, this resort is lacking in many areas, we made the best of our trip but we can't lie and recommend even at the rate we got, there are other better options!!

Occidental Punta Cana: Great resort

The staff was amazing, everyone was sooo friendly. They were not pushy at all for tips like in some other places. The food was beyond what we expected, it was simply delicious. The a la carte restaurants and the breakfast buffet were amazing. The room was a nice size, but the bed wasnt very comfortable. The entertainment at night was also great they had different kinds from dancers to musicians to acrobatics and karaoke. It is not a party hotel for sure. However there is a club called Mangu 2 steps from the resort, the entrance is free if you're from this hotel. The club was okay. Right outside the resort you can find bars, casinos and gift shops. They are all walking distance. Don't be afraid to walk around its pretty safe.

Allegro Cozumel: Awesome trip

Had a great time at the Occidental Grand. Rooms were clean, always a beach chair to sit on, food was good, but have to say staff make this resort great! Can't wait to return to this resort with my family.

Occidental Papagayo: Fantastic experience

The whole resort was beautiful friendly would go back in a heart beat.We celebrated our 33rd wedding anniversary and Roberto the general manager made our celebration the most wonderful event to have as a memory of our stay.The whole staff could not please us enough.Putt it this way,when you leave your family to go on your vacation, you get a second family that takes good care of you.The adventure tours we took were by far well worth the money and the experience.

Allegro Playacar: A resort that grows on you

Nov 13 at 7:25 PM Diane, firstly thank you so much for the vacation package, both my wife and I really enjoyed getting away for the week. You may be aware that the flight leaving Vancouver was delayed from 7:50 am to 1:00 pm and then again to 1:25 pm and did not actually get off the ground until well after 2:00 pm making it a total delay of more than 6 hours. I did check on the flight schedule just before we left the hotel and was informed the flight was on time (at 4:00 am). We received an emai [... read more]l from Trip Case around 4:30 am advising us that our flight has been delayed but unfortunately we had already left the hotel and did not get the email until quite some time later. We arrived at the resort around 11:30 pm and was quite disappointed that our first day of vacation was spent either in the airport or on the plane. Disappointing also was the fact that Air Transat did not appear overly concerned about our predicament offering little apology and a measly $15 coupon for breakfast. They obviously did not care that we would be either in the airport or on the plane for many hours and lunch and dinner would not be forthcoming unless we made our own plans to purchase meals and take them on the plane. I suggest this is not good customer relations and most if not all of the passengers expressed more than disappointment in the process. On the positive side the resort, while small, was quite nice. First night it looked not so good but the next couple of days it kind of grew on us and we had a good time. We especially liked the unique design of the rooms, they really are quite Mexican not like others that do not have palapas and have modern style designs. The meals were rather sub par being the same food almost each day. The best thing about the resort was the staff, they were very friendly, helpful and really shined when it came to service. We cannot say enough about the attitude of the staff. While there we ran into a group of travel agents who were viewing several resorts in the area and those that I talked with agreed that this resort should be rated somewhere between a 2 and 3 star. While the staff make every effort to keep up with the repairs it is obvious that the buildings are simply quite old and need more than a face lift. Overall we liked the resort, the proximity to town, and the ambiance. Without the 5 star service this would not be a resort I would like to return to. However the service is definitely one of their major strengths. Again thanks for the trip, and we look forward to having our name drawn again and perhaps winning a trip to Cuba. All the best, Bill

Royal Hideaway Playacar: Absolutely Amazing Resort!!!

We loved this resort!!! The Lobby and reception areas are very elegant. Staff were all amazing and more than willing to help with anything. Grounds were spectacular and very enjoyable to walk through!! Rooms were very nice and clean!! Service and food was exceptional. Beach and ocean were fantastic!! We will definitely go back !!!

Occidental Cozumel: Good for 5 days

We had gone for a relaxing vacation and that is what we got. Rooms were needing an updated look. Food was ok. The service with staff was excellent. Beach was excellent . I've been to resorts that had better quality food. I was happy with the staff. They were professional , funny , always accommodating your needs. I would add wi-fi to be open for everyone. We had to buy a package and use a computer which was slow and broken. I did not like that. Having children and family you want to connect to l [... read more]et them know all is well and that you arrived safely. I liked the ego forest feel in the resort. I was under an impression that we were going to get a way better room and then when we got what we did I was disappointed. Would I go back, possibly if we got better quality upgrades. Our room faced the forest instead of the ocean . Wasn't happy with about that one. I would have freshly made popcorn at the nightly movie night around the pool. The timeshare pressure was alittle much for my liking.

Occidental Punta Cana: Barcelo Solimar Nicaragua

Example: What did you think about  this hotel? excelent , but need a life garde for the beach .I saw someone close to draining saved by another client ! (grounds, public areas, rooms, dining, features, etc.)

Barcelo Aruba: Awesome Hotel!

The part of the hotel I stayed in was old but very well maintained. The staff were amazing and oh so helpful. A call to the front desk brought an immediate response. The hotel was dated but very well maintained.

Occidental Punta Cana: very nice and clean resort, just the right size

overall this resort met our expectations, fantastic bartenders, especially Santos at the lobby bar. the resort was kept cleaned daily. Maids also kept our room cleaned. The a-la-carte restaurants were fine, especially the steak house

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Great place for families

We stayed for a week, it took a couple of days to familiarize ourselves with the complex and the park next door. We had trouble with the AC in our room but it was fixed quickly. This place has a lot to offer for families. A three day pass at the Excarat park is needed to do most of the activities. The hotel itself has a lot to offer. Entertainment in the lobby, great beach, on site animals, sports tennis, archery, fishing(bring your rod) etc... This is a large complex with friendly people. Occidental Punta Cana: great beach

Resort was great for my first time on an all inclusive resort. Staff was very friendly. The beach was gteat and had wonderful white sand. Guest services was very helpful as well. Tge sports barwas great and regularly showed NFL games in english.

Allegro Cozumel: What a nightmare

Where should I start? The hotel burned 2 days after our arrival and we ended up in another hotel. Actually this was the only good news of my stay. We were there in August and usually the hotel close in September and October. Therefore there was no life(activities during the day) on site, choice of food was very limited....Regrets: the kids pool. I choose that hotel for my kids and because of the fire the only fun thing was gone. I have to admit the Allegro customer service, Trip Central were ver [... read more]y helpful through this emotional situation (especially for the kids). I hope though this fire will be a good opportunity for the Allegro to upgrade their service (maintenance of the pools, rooms, food...). One last thing....I will never use again Vacation Air Canada to book my trips:. Complete lack of service on site and useless.

Starfish Cayo Guillermo: Friendly Resort

This is not a fancy hotel. There is not a town nearby, or even many other hotels, so it feels a bit remote. However, it's a great spot to just hangout at the beach or pool, or to go snorkeling or sailing. The rooms are very clean, the staff are competent and very friendly. Many who visit become regulars. I've been 14 times and I'm far from the most frequent visitor. It can be a bit windy on the beach, especially in winter months.

Starfish Cayo Guillermo: Simple with no vegetarian option

Our experience was not good, despite rooms were clean! Our fridge didn't work for four days, no vegetarian food option except some salad and bread. The meat was not cooked. We had a group of six Canadian families during our stay and all lost weight! The last night performance was insulting to Canadian and my son suffered allergies due to entertainers pouring cream, flour and egg on his face as part of routine stage invitation to act ! Barcelo Aruba: Amazing resort

All aspect of the resort were amazing. The Room was clean and bright, food was wonderful, all staff were very helpful, all expectations were met. Nightly entertainment was enjoyable. We would definitely revisit.

Occidental Punta Cana: Not bad, could be better!

should have listened to the trip central agent, mind you not bad, but could be better. Service could be a lot better. Grounds are very nice and clean. Food options are numerous especially the buffet, yummm! Mexican was great, didnt try steak house but chinese was ok, italian was notch above ok. Entertainment was ok to good, they were making an effort to entertain. overall nothing spectacular but i guess it is what you pay for. Nothing bad to complain about really. But definitely not 4+ stars. Bring your own conditioner they only have body wash and shampoo!!! and bring bug repellent for some reason we were incredibly itchy the entire time, and didnt see any mosquitoes only occasionally so not sure why, unless there were bed bugs but not confirmed. Will try Bahia Principe if I go back to punta cana. Preference club no special treatment!

Occidental Punta Cana: Great Resort!

Overall the resort is great! The food, beach and service are wonderful. The only complaint I have is that they don't have enough beach towels available and there are too many hecklers always trying to sell you something. Other than that it's great!
