Viva V Samana by Wyndham: Pictures don’t do this resort justice

Check in was fast and easy, room requests granted and easily found with all items in working order and clean. Food was great with enough selection to satisfy, all seasoned well in my opinion. No reservations at a la cartes, and guys can wear shorts, also never any wait. Beach is stunning and clean, clear water with no seaweed or shells/corals to hurt your feet, nice waves but not too big. Nice secluded resort with enough activities to keep you entertained, but never overbearing or pushy. Evening entertainment was a bit of a let down..but the disco was available to dance if desired. I’d go back as it’s a short drive from the airport and secluded. Make sure you land at AZS not puerto plata All in all a great holiday.

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Wonderful time!

This resort may be small but it is all you need for the perfect little vacation! Food was great, Italian a la carte was personally my favourite, just opened a little later than the other restaurants, but that’s just more time to enjoy the beautiful beach while you wait! The entertainment team was great! Always doing something by the pool or the beach. The sales people on the beach were a little relentless but that’s to be expected. The foam party was super fun! Viva Wyndham Dominicus Beach: Worst Vacation we’ve ever experienced!!!!

The resort itself was nice with lovely gardens. Little town of Dominicus not far from resort.stayed in a garden view Bungalow that was pretty basic. There were 3 of us so we had two double beds. We had a mini fridge, however it was not stocked with anything. You do not have a coffee maker in your room either at least in the bungalows you didn’t! You receive 2 bottles of water in your washroom to brush your teeth with and drink, I am assuming, but as I mentioned there were three of us and it w [... read more]as not until I confronted the maid in person to advise her that there were three persons occupying our bungalow that she left us three bottles of water and three bath towels and hand towels. Also, they are very skimpy on the toilet paper so once again i had to mention to her we need more than one roll of toilet paper for three people or we will be using our hand towels!! We asked for wash cloths but never received them however I am always in the habit of bringing an old one from home as I know that it is hit and miss with receiving wash cloths so I like to have one with me just in case. So all three of us brought our own wash cloths!! Once I tipped the maid we started to receive a larger quantity of water bottles which we kept some of them in our fridge to keep them cold for when we needed a drink! Also started to receive quite a few more towels and rolls of toilet paper! The buffet was just okay. Nothing Special!! The snack bar by the beach was a joke and so was the pizzeria!! They had one guy making pizza for dozens of people. The drinks were awful!! Liquor was watered down and beer on tap was warm most of the time!! If you wanted a COLD PRSEIDENTE BEER you had to buy it! I didn’t book an All- inclusive to have to go the store and buy my beer!! The Mexican al la carte!! This was the best meal that we had! There was so much food so many courses, Quick Service and FRIENDLY WAITERS!!!! Having said that I will go on to tell you that every single waiter, bartender, anyone that you would encounter at this resort was RUDE, AND NASTY AND WOULD INGNORE YOU! (Outside of this Mexican Restaurant) No One cared about you!! The worst Customer Service I have ever encountered and I have been to the Dominican Republic well over a dozen times!!! A horrible Shame!! Even if you said good morning or hello! There was never a response back from them!! We speak a little bit of spanish, enough to get by and have never had any problems associating with people in the Dominican republic before, as we travel frequently and and have always had the best time dealing with the staff! Even workers that maintain the property! At this resort it just seems that the staff that are employed here are miserable and just do not like their jobs or to converse with the guests! It does not matter whether or not you tip them nothing seems to change!!! There were maybe 3 people we had dealings with that appreciated the tip and were naturally friendly!! We were at the La Roca Pool bar one morning and when the bar opened we went up for a drink only to find no glasses within reach of the guests however there were 3 trays of clean glasses stacked behind the bar but the bartender was too busy talking to another co-worker and ingnored us standing there until my husband called to him politely “Amigo” and then we tried to gesture that we needed a glass to drink as it is a self serve draft pump for beer, water and soft drinks, so all they need to do is provide you with Clean Glasses. It was at that time he angrily looked up and started to mimic us, gesturing back and giving us a dirty look while slowly walking over to the trays of glasses and then slammed down a tray on the counter and walked away! I was horrified of his behaviour and disgusted!! I don’t work hard all year and pay good money to come to a resort to be treated in this manor!! It is totally unacceptable behaviour!! I also noticed there are NEVER any Managers nor Supervisors around anywhere to keep the staff moving along and in line!!! Another thing that was so very unfair and frustrating was trying to get a drink at the main bars. They would not use the first come first serve rule. They would serve whomever they wanted whenever they wanted which would mean you could be standing there waiting for 10-15 minutes or longer for a very small pour that was usually warm (Beer) and that is if they had any available as there were many times they ran out and you had to wait a very long time for them to change the keg!! No one seems to know what they are doing! They are very unorganized and EXTREMELY UNDERSTAFFED, from what we could see! For a Viva Wyndham Chain we were very disappointed. I thought it would have been a much better experience. We attended the 25 al la carte restaurant on the last night before we were leaving.. One of the WORST al la carte restaurants we have ever been in. When we walked in no one was at the podium greeting you. A lady had kept looking at us standing at the front waiting to be seated, yet she ignored us and kept cleaning tables. Never once did she say “I will be with you in one moment” or any attempt at letting us know she will be over. We waited a very long time for her to come over and take our receipt and seat us. She handed us our menus before we even sat down at the table which was very unprofessional!! We sat down and a gentleman came over and gave us water. We looked at the menu for a little while and our waiter walked back over to take our order. He came over and leaned over the empty chair and asked us if we were ready and what we wanted….. AGAIN very unprofessional!! The food WAS NOT good. My daughter could not even eat her steak it was tough and full of grissle and fat. They also don’t give you steak knives…. they give you butter knives…. so good luck trying to cut your food!! We had seen that our waiter had been bringing out pink cocktails to ALL others tables that were seated AFTER US!! Once they sat down he would give them those drinks. When I called our waiter over to ask him what that drink was and if we were suppose to receive one he couldn’t even tell me…. he had to call over to another lady and ask her. She then said it was a cosmopolitan. When my husband and I confronted him and asked were we supposed to receive those? Because everyone else that has come in you have given them one. He then said “oh you want one.”? And put down one that he had LEFTOVER on his tray. Never offered to give my husband or daughter one!!!! When we kept asking him if he was supposed to bring us those in the beginning when we sat down he ignored us and kept talking and laughing with another waitress. VERY RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL!!! After that encounter he ignored us the rest of the dinner. He never cleared our dinner plates, another waitress had to come over and do so. We waited and waited for our desserts to be brought out and they NEVER arrived so we got up and left! We went to the buffet so my daughter could eat something as she never did eat anything there and she was starving!!! We had great weather the week from April 27th-May 4th It only rained overnight when we were asleep so we did the best to move on and and tried not to dwell too much on the ignorance of our wait staff and we tried the very best to make the most out of our vacation. Would we return there NEVER!!! Would I recommend it NO!!! For the money we paid for this resort I would have expected first class treatment!! This was the very first vacation that we can actually say we couldn’t wait to get home from!!!!!!!

Viva Tangerine by Wyndham: pretty, renovated!

This has been my second trip to Dominican and I had a great time. The rooms were always kept clean and they’re renovated, as well as the beds were super comfy which I’m not used to having at resorts!! drinks are good, pool is great, beach is beautiful and has awesome waves which was fun to swim in (be careful of the undertow) the resort provides boogie boards and kayaks for free which I thought was cool. My only complaint is that the entertainment at night wasnt very lively, I didn’t mind because I don’t care for it as much but I know a lot of people expect great entertainment to end their day. I would definitely like to try out the other Wyndham resorts.

Viva Tangerine by Wyndham: Family Resort

Pros : Beautiful beach. Gardens are well maintained. Restaurants are very good. Cons: Not sure why they say superior room. It is standard. No fridge. Small bathroom. Note: the patio door locked by itself. You can stay stuck on the balcony...not fun when you are on the 3rd floor... In the evening, it is boring. No entertainment, No music, no atmosphere. Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Don’t bring locals in they ruined a hole day at resort.

The resort is very small and nice until they let some local people in and they took over the pool area and nobody could use the pool and they where very loud and drinking and wasting beer pouring it all over, I was relaxing by the pool and one of the local did a canon ball and splashed water all over me. This resort I wouldn’t recommend if they let let locals in.

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Nice Clean Resort That Lacks Umbrellas

This was our first all inclusive and although we enjoyed it, there weren’t enough umbrellas around the pool to accommodate everyone (not even half as many as they needed). There were no umbrellas or cabanas at the beach so you couldn’t find shade there either. The food was great, the resort was clean although the bed was really hard but the lack of umbrellas was what really took away from our overall experience.

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: A great place to stay!

The resort is a perfect place to call home for the week. It’s small size is a bonus to avoid the crowds. Lots of great dinning options. We managed to try them all and enjoyed every meal. The amnesia rooms are nice and the staff did a great job keeping it clean. The beach area is nice and the beach bar and restaurant are both great as well. Overall a great experience at this resort. Small so easy to get around. Animation team was great special shoutout to Poderosa who went out of her way to be kind. Recommend it for quiet week with friends. Could use a few upgrades here and there though

Zen like atmosphere. Long beach to walk. Loved the outdoor yoga. Clean grounds and rooms. Nice variety and good food. Friendly staff, great animation team. Close to Las Terrenas if you wanted a change of pace. Variety of day trips offered. Will definitely be returning in the future.

Viva V Samana by Wyndham: Beautiful Relaxing Resort

This resort was one of the most beautiful resorts I've been to. The size of it's perfect and the ambiance was so relaxing. The staff was topnotch, especially the animation staff! No problems getting chairs at the pool or the beach the whole time we were there. The beach is incredible, not crowded & perfect for long walks to the Luis's bar down the beach. The food selection was good. The rooms were a little small, but who cares... you don't go on vacation to stay in your room! This hotel was amazing. Beautiful beach and grounds. So peaceful and quiet. Perfect size. Excellent food and variety. The entertainment staff is great. This is not a roudy resort , so if that is what you are looking for this wouldn’t be for you. The landscapes and views are amazing. The beach is so clean :)

Viva V Samana by Wyndham: Fantastic Resort - Will return

This was such an intimate resort. The grounds were well manicured, the public washroom were spotless and it was a very relaxed atmosphere. There was no pressure to make sure you had a "towel card" as there were lots of clean towels in the morning and you could take as many as you liked. The Fusion restaurant was our favourite and the service was first class. The beach was beautiful and the water was also very warm. There were lots of games to play on the beach ie. darts,ping pong, bocce ball and adult musical chairs. We were a little disappointed with the content of the shows at night but we've travelled so many times to different resorts that it wasn't a priority for us. The rooms were clean and the showers in the washroom were fantastic. Lots of hot water!! The buffet was good but could have had a little more variety. You didn't have to reserve for the ala carte restaurants and you could go as many times as you liked. The staff at the reception were always ready to be helpful and very friendly. We can't wait to return. We loved it!!!!!

Viva Azteca by Wyndham: Exceeded expectations!

This was a last-minute booking. I had actually been at the Catalonia Royal Tulum in Riviera Maya earlier in January this year. That resort was brilliant. I expected something a notch below, in view of the fact that I was paying about half this time, admittedly later in the season. In fact I was amazed at the value. Never a problem finding a beach chair or shade, whereever I wanted to sit. A distinct no smoking area on the beach. Excellent buffet, with theme nights so repetition was minimal. The Italian and Mexican theme restaurants were very good. The former served an excellent filet mignon. The only real problem - not the resort's fault - was the heavy accumulation of seaweed which made normal beach walking difficult. The resort did well to clean it up each morning, so bathers could access the sea. One could still walk on the wide beach, though on soft sand. Located in the Playcar development, it is an easy walk into Playa del Carmen. I actually walked to the ferry and went to Cozumel for the afternoon. I never did use the facilities of the sister Wyndham resort. I couldn't really find a serious fault with this resort. It is at least the 4.2 Sunwing rating. Based on the difference in cost I would choose this over the Catalonia Royal Tulum which I thought was a true 5 star. The difference in the two was minimal.

This is a nice , clean ,smaller size resort with nice staff and large rooms.it's is not located on beach , there is about a 10 minute walk down path to beach would not suggest for elderly or infirmed as it's quite a walk back and forth from beach to your room.

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: We Loved this Resort!

We loved this small adults only resort. A nice short 3-5 minute walk brought you to a gorgeous beach. The staff were friendly and the resort was clean. We loved our spacious Amnesia Suite. The food was delicious and we liked the fact you didn't have to make reservations for the ala cartes. We didn't have to wait in lineups and the hotel was at full occupancy when we were there. Always easy to get beach towels. It was nice having free wifi. We would stay here again.

We loved this small adults only resort! It offered everything that's important to us. It was very clean, nice big room, good food and a gorgeous beach. We always felt very safe, there's lots of security around. You didn't have to make reservations at the ala cartes and men didn't have to wear long pants. We never encountered any long lineups at the bars or restaurants and the hotel was at capacity when we were there. Public washrooms were always very clean. The resort is in a gated resort com [... read more]munity with nice sidewalks for walking. There's a shopping mall about a three minute walk from the resort. You can go for long walks on the beach in both directions. The beach is a short walk from the resort, along aa beautiful walkway. Fridge in room was always well stocked. My husband didn't like the beer in the room. I think it was imported from Holland. They should have had Presidente Beer that is made in the Dominican.

This small boutique hotel is a wonderful home away from home...but with better food and great amenities! All the a la carte restaurants are to die for, there is always a chair available at the pool or Beach, can't wait to get back!

Viva Tangerine by Wyndham: Great Vacation

The hotel was beautiful. Room was not quite as expected. I requested a lower level room due to a knee injury and ended up in a top floor room with no elevators. Unfortunately, the hotel was unable to move us to another unit. However, we were able to deal with it for the week. Food was great! Service great! Weather great! ..... For a first time traveler, it was an overall wonderful experience!
