Fun and Sun

We loved our vacation at this resort. The staff are so friendly and courteous, we felt immediately at home. Food was good, rooms were comfortable, and we enjoyed the cosy atmosphere. We took part in many of the activities and enjoyed the entertainment.

Week at Melia Cayo Coco February 18 - 25, 2017

Overall very nice resort. Beach was very nice Rooms are very tired and worn but really clean. Food was good for Cuba Grounds and pool area were beautiful. Staff were great. Older clientele and very quite. Shows nightly are typical of Cuba. Lots of live musical performances by bands and singers that were very good.

Beautiful resort!

Melia Cayo Coco was amazing. We arrived at noon, greeted with a glass of champagne and escorted to our room within an hour. The resort grounds were well maintained, beautiful pool, beach and friendly staff. The Italian restaurant was exceptional. We had a great week and enjoyed the nightly entertainment. We would definitely recommend this resort.

simply awesome time at melia cayo coco.....everything went smoothly from amanda booking for us to our limo back home....the cuban people are the most hospitable and welcoming people i have ever met...........

Great Service GREAT FOOD !

Great service and great food ! The staff are just soooo nice here beach close and pool great! music amazing too! beds are a little bit hard, but whole experience wonderful. Staff treat you so kindly, we went to visit another resort to look around and realized how good our own was.

Amazing Resort.

Loved the resort. The staff are wonderful. The food was great. Loved the improvements made to the resort over the past year. The expansion of the beach made a great difference from previous years. The dinner in the International al le carte restaurant for my husband and my anniversary was perfect. This is our 4th year in succession. Totally enjoyed our stay.

Lovely Melia |Cayo Coco

What a great resort! Awesome food, amenities and staff! We got checked in quickly and never looked back. We sat pool side with a drink 40 minutes after our plane touched the ground. Amazing! Can't wait to go back.

Nice resort

Firstly do not take airline Cubana. The plane was in need of repair, the lights didn't work then the starter wouldn't start. Took over an hour to get the plane in working order before take off. As for the resort its older but in good shape. The mattresses are very hard, feels like your sleeping on plywood but the rooms were clean and nice. There was good variety of food. Most things were very tasty Staff was very pleasant and informative Exchange rate from CAD-CUP was .67 to .75 depends o [... read more]n which staff member at the front desk gave you the money. But when we came home the rate for the whole week was .76. Beware of that ! Beach was beautiful, shells were coming up a lot because of the wind and waves. Never had an issue to get a chair by the beach or pool. Never line ups at the buffet or bars. Entertainment was great 80% of the people were an older group - 50plus I would recommend this resort if you want peace and quiet.

The right place

The hotel and grounds were always clean and uncluttered. Lots of seating and shading available around the pool and at beach side. Beach areas were always kept litter free and tidy. Plenty of different eating and drinking areas aside from the main dining room. A great assortment of dining experiences throughout the hotel grounds, something for everyone, with very tasty self-serve or made to order meals. You should not go hungry or get thirsty. The staff could not be more accommodating. Any reques [... read more]t will not be ignored, they are polite and attentive. Lots of beach activities and excursions are available. The only downside we experienced was running out of water once in a while during showers, certainly not a deal breaker. We feel we received very good value for our dollars. If Cuba is in our near future, this will be our destination.

Wonderful time

Had a great time at the Melia Cayo Coco. The beach is terrific! It was redone this past January and is very clean and doubled in size. The staff, food and lodgings are all great. No question or request was ignored and the staff endeavoured to solve any questions asap! Will definitely be going back!

Wonderful vacation

staff extremely helpful and cheerful all the time. We will definitely look forward to another Melia experience. Evening entertainment was top notch and other than a storm that damaged one of the restaurants, the weather was delightful. Thank you

Amazing Resort

We were very happy with everything about this resort. The grounds were lovely, the pool and beach were wonderful. We enjoyed the restaurants, the shows, and the many places to lounge. We also enjoyed the Sports Club (archery, shooting, playing pool and ping pong. The music was excellent and the staff were amazing. Our room was also everything you could ask for. The Sports Club could do with a make over.

Second excellent stay!

This was our second time at this resort and our ninth trip to Cuba. The drive from the airport to the resort was only 20 minutes. Our standard room, 9412, was ready upon our arrival. It was nicely situated and recently redecorated. We hardly heard a peep from the people in the room above us. Both the maid service and turn-down service were excellent. We found the best coffee in the Snack Bar every morning after our beach walk at sunrise. We also enjoyed pizzas at the Snack Bar. We ate breakfast  [... read more]outside at the buffet. Endless choices! We also had two dinners at the buffet. We had lunch as often as possible at the Beach Restaurant. We enjoyed the live Cuban music there every day except Fridays and Sundays. Thank you Son Del Rio Cuba! Both the International Restaurant and Italian Restaurant were excellent for dinners. We also enjoyed Cuban food in the Italian Restaurant one night. The Beach Restaurant was unfortunately closed for roof repairs in the evenings. The beach and ocean swimming were wonderful for 5 days. It was too windy the other 2 days. The pool is very shallow but refreshing. There are endless activities and opportunities to meet people. The evening showtimes are put on by very talented and energetic performers. We were treated by the hotel to a group loyalty lunch. It was very much appreciated. Thank you for our conversation Alicia (with Customer Service). We will be back!

A Quick Trip to Melia Cayo Coco

After days of no sun in Ontario, decided on a 4 day junket to Cayo Coco. Hotel is 10 minutes from the airport. Upon arrival, at the hotel, was greeted by the front desk staff. Check-in took seconds and the luggage was off to the room, I was off to the bar for an adult beverage! Next morning, had breakfast in the buffet. Second Stay and will return

The Melia Cayo Coco, this was our second time to this resort in 3 years it went well beyond meeting our expectations. We were there in 2015 for our first time and loved it, but went elsewhere in 2016 due to a lower price at another resort, we were not however as pleased as we were with the Melia. THE BEACH is amazing, especially after their hard work of expanding it in late 2016, more umbrella and palapas, always shade if you want it, never over crowded. All in all there is nothing we did not like at the Melia, we will definitely be back for a 3rd visit, the first year we had a party of 8 this time a party of 4, I can say without a doubt that we were all very pleased.

Best Cuban Experience!

This is a very special resort. The staff is amazing. The grounds are lush. The beach is beautiful. This was our second time there in 7 weeks. We can't wait to go back! We would highly recommend Melia Cay Coco.

Nice resort

Good value for the money. Food and drinks are good, resort is small and quiet, rooms clean and functional. Staff always provides great service with a smile. All in all, a good resort to visit for a quiet week on the sunny, large beach.

Wonderful holiday, great resort

My mom and I stayed at Melia Cayo Coco from Jan. 10 - 17, 2017. This was my third time staying at this resort (fifth time in Cayo Coco, sixth in Cuba) and my mom's second time. It is a very short drive from the airport. The check-in process is always a bit slow, but not terrible, and they bring you welcome drinks. We arrived around 1 p.m. and our room was ready. The rooms are clean and spacious but are outdated and could use a refresh, especially the bathroom. Unfortunately, it was very  [... read more]windy the whole week, so we couldn't go to the beach, and the red flag was up, so there was no swimming in the ocean. Instead, we went to the pool every day. The beach is normally wonderful, though—well-maintained, sandy. They even widened the beach since our last time there. The pool and pool area are very nice and well-maintained. The staff at the pool bar/snack bar are hard-working and friendly. Staff come around the pool area to take your drink orders and are lovely. The animation/activities team really make the experience special. There are always activities you can choose to take part in by the pool: water aerobics, dancing lessons, painting, etc. The lobby bar is lovely and has a great atmosphere. There is musical entertainment in the evenings. We ate at the buffet for all meals. The service there is impeccable. We really appreciate the great salad bar, which includes beans, rice, veggies, potatoes, and lots of options for dressing. The pasta bar is great too. We would have liked to see more vegan options as well as gluten-free options. The "Vegetarian Corner" at lunch and dinner is poorly situated behind the raw meat and fish grilling station, and you have to get past the people waiting in line at the grill to access the vegetarian food. Also, you cannot trust that the vegetarian food is actually vegetarian—more than once I found pieces of meat or fish in a dish there, which is not okay. The front desk staff were good and were able to deal with multiple requests at a time. When we wanted to find out if the pharmacy at the market carried a product we needed, a staff member called to find out that they had it and then called us a cab to take us there. Overall, this resort is wonderful, the staff is outstanding, and we will certainly be back.

AMAZING VACATION!!! JANUARY 2017!!

My husband & I vacationed at this resort last week (Jan 8 - Jan 15) & we had an amazing time! We have absolutely no complaints with this resort! We have travelled to a few different places (Mexico, Dominican & Cuba) & this was the best experience we have had out of all our trips down south. The people were so friendly & chatty! The food was delicious & the beach was breathtakingly beautiful! The only problem was mother nature - it was very windy so we could not actually swim in the ocean but we  [... read more]still hung out at the beach for a couple of afternoons - & the pool was very nice & sheltered from the wind. We stayed in one of the villas on the lagoon & it was definitely worth it as we had our own private oasis! This was a very relaxing trip for us! The entertainment was good as well - they had nightly entertainment & daily activities at the pool area. Another bonus was we were approx. 15 minutes from the airport so not a long bus drive to the resort - we never heard 1 plane take off or land so very quiet! We definitely will be returning to this resort again - hopefully very soon!! Thank-you Melia Cayo Coco for the wonderful vacation! - we hope to visit again soon!!

Great resort

The grounds , public areas, rooms etc are kept very well and clean. The staff were very friendly and do everything to make sure you were happy. The food was good I'm sure well above average in Cuba standards. The evening shows in the lobby area were great every night.We had a wonderful relaxing week there
