Awesome Again & Again

We found this resort in 2012 and keep going back. The staff are just wonderful and always have time to say Helo and Have a great day. The staff are so friendly and go above and beyond to be helpful. The food is good with lots of variety at every meal. The food is always fresh. There are also 3 Al A Carts. The Japanese is lots of fun. I went snorkeling for the first time last year. There is a coral reef not far out. I can actually stand on both sides of the reef. This makes snorkeling for me fun. [... read more] The beach is nice but I would recommend you wear water socks or something on your feet in the water. The rooms are average but than how much time do you spend in your room? They are very clean. T.V is not great but I don't go there to watch T.V. The grounds are looking more groomed this year compared to previous years.

Beautiful Place! Beautiful People!

Stayed at the Playa Costa Verde Feb.8th to 15th 2015. Beach was clean and you could snorkel just off shore. Ala Carte restaurants were good. Grounds were well looked after. People were friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend this place to family and friends!

3 star at most

Hotel and grounds okay but the service was very poor. I felt like I was putting people out all the time. Getting a table in the buffet was hard every morning. The food was often under cooked. My room was ground floor. I came with a young child. Room was constantly crawling with bugs perhaps due to dampness. Made it difficult to sleep. I came home early with bites all over my body.

Fabulous Vacation Resort!!

We just loved this place!! It was our first ever trip to Cuba and had heard many stories about food and resorts falling short on expectations but we were so pleasantly surprised at how great this resort was! The food was excellent and I can't say enough great things about the staff!! Our room was always clean, and everything we needed was there!! Mucho bien playa

This resort is amazing. From the time you check in to the time you leave everything is great. The staff are always ready to help you in any situation and are always smiling. The rooms are clean and roomy. The food was excellent at the buffet and the a la cart are great, especially the Japanese and Cuban. The pool area is a fun area as Jesus and Marilenus keep things happening. I can't wait to go back!!!

Playa costa Varde

Room's are nice and big and clean Beach is a little walk but nice,bar on the beach ,food was good service good but I'm a non smoker would be nice if their were more non smoking areas The beer tent area was fun relaxing played cards

We will be back

This was our first trip to Playa and we will definitely go back. The a la carte restaurants were good, loved the Japanese best Olivia and Jolee are absolutely terrific. Beach, Pool, lobby bar, snack bar (you have to try the max burger) for lunch try the Cuban restaurant off the beach. The amount of repeat visitors also needs to be mentioned, you have to be doing it right to get that many people coming back. Great resort

Resort is older but they are improving things each year. Staff are terrific. The beach swimming area is very good and the snorkeling is great nearby. The buffet has a few good stations where they make pizzas, omelettes, etc. Bars were not busy and have a great selection.

Truly a beautiful vacation!!!!

The hotel was clean and tidy, always someone cleaning the lobby the washrooms and wiping tables and waiting to serve you at any time, the grounds and pool were always clean and someone always busy cleaning, such beautiful & hard working people always wanting to serve you. We will NEVER return to this resort

The grounds were lovely, the rooms adequate but the staff and food and the noise and smoke were terrible. The wages must be very high for staff at this resort because no one is interested in serving the guests in order to earn tips. In the buffet, you ask for coffee or water and wait 20 minutes or more. Once in a while it came promptly, but that was the exception rather than the rule. Hot foods were lukewarm at best, cold foods were cool. Cold scrambled eggs are a great start to the morning! You [... read more] could stand in line for about 20 minutes to have it made fresh though. The worst was the noise. Groups of guests of 8 to 12 people would gather at he beach, in an a la carte restaurant, in the buffet or the lobby bar and carry on shouting, cheering, laughing outrageously loud and the management never did anything about it. Most times it was impossible to carry on a conversation with these folks around. There are no designated no smoking areas so everywhere you go boorish people delight in blowing their cigar and cigarette smoke at you. We have been to Cuba several times before and were always treated very well. At this resort we felt like our presence was an imposition on the staff.

Very Nice Resort

My wife and I were at the PCV on jan 25th for 7 days. We loved the layout of this resort and found it very easy to navigate. The staff were very friendly and eager to help with everything. If you have been to its neighbour Playa Pasqeuero then you would most likely like this resort as well....kind of just a smaller Playa Pasquero. We would definatelly return to this resort in the future.

Great resort

Great resort. Japanese restaurant a must. Beach was amazing Absolutely perfect sand. Room was clean, grounds were well kept. Would go back again if returning to Cuba. Resort is small and compact. Beach is very accessible. Pools were central in the resort.

Great to have been back

Our second time at this resort my husband and I were amazed at the up keep and clean and friendly staff we will definitely be returning ... we were also very happy with the returning guest specials we received .

Beautiful place, lovely staff, but big

Really a lovely hotel, nice grounds and buildings, beautiful beach. It's big, though, so you have to be okay with bustle. (Awesome for people-watching at the buffet.) The staff is friendly, warm and helpful, available to you without pushing you to have "fun! fun! fun!" all the time. The food is good, just - as per the general rule in Cuba - stick to delicious local foods (beans and rice, pork, fish, yucca, guava desserts) rather than being disappointed by their weird burgers or lasagna. People s [... read more]moke everywhere - lobby bar, restaurant, etc. I guess they're going with the theory that since the buildings are pretty open and outdoorsy, it won't bother anyone - when, in fact, it's gross and it makes bar areas off-limits if you don't want to go home with lung cancer. The entertainment is either really good or odd-but-charming, so it's fun to watch the shows and the "animation" staff is great. I would recommend this hotel for sure. :)

Relaxing Stay

We had a great week at PCV. It was our 3rd time to Cuba but our first to Holguin. The staff were top rate, the food better than anywhere else we've been, the rooms were ok, the beds were a little uncomfortable. My only complaint would be the lack of traditional Cuban music which is one of the reasons we love Cuba! The entertainment in the evenings just wasn't our thing, fashion shows and cheesy performances but all in all a good cheap and cheerful holiday. Great place

the people are so very friendly. and it is so clean got clean towels every time you needed them this was our fourth time there. and we will go again We loved the Japanese restaurant they make it fun it is a pleasure being there

Great Holiday Resort

We had a great stay at this resort. The standard room is spacious. Disappointed that the TV was a standard one and not a flat screen as my HDMI equipment could not be connected to it. The grounds are kept in amazing condition and all of the staff are just awesome. The pool is huge and has a swim up bar. Lots of seating around it as well and always something going on pool side. I would have thought it would have been the best as we are in Cuba? The buffet is pretty typical of any resort, average selection, average food. There are a few stations where they will cook pancakes, eggs or omelettes for you, well worth the wait. There is pretty much some sort of entertainment going on each night either in the Open Air Amphitheater or the Lobby. The Open Sports Bar is a nice size with pool tables and a nice selection of food. The Beach is just great with lots of shade umbrellas. The Beach Bar is just set back from the water and has some snack food available around lunch time. If you are looking for a better lunch the Cuban Restaurant is open to anyone for lunch always and just off the beach and the sports bar is not much further. The biggest complaint I have is the lack of washrooms. They should be marked on the map so you can easily find them. There is not one a the beach, which makes not sense to me at all, so you have to walk all the way back to the Cuban Restaurant. Overall we had a great vacation here.

Excellent vacation!

Very good rooms. There were newlyweds, couples with young kids, elderly and disabled people which is great. Everyone felt comfortable. The territory is very clean and the staff is friendly and professional. Entertainment and activities were fun and different each day. Good trips from the hotel. Very clean and quiet ocean.

Great Beach

It is a nice size ( max.1000 guests) the grounds were immaculate, the beach great with enough shade umbrellas for all who wanted them. the beach was shallow for a long distance (good for children ) They had a "kids show" and adult entertainment every night. We ate at the buffet most days and found the food varied and good. The wait staff were wonderful, spend time to get to know them. Our room was clean and we had no issues. There were enough bars, and only the beach one had a line. There was a  [... read more]lot of cigarette smoke, even outside. I would recommend bringing an antihistamine. The pool area was huge, and they had a lifeguard on duty.

Great for kids

What a great resort with friendly staff, good pools, a beautiful beach and lots of extras like boat rental. Food in the buffet was excellent and ok at the snack bar. Best of all is how safe and peaceful it was for my children. Will definitely return.
