+ve Good food, lots of variety Grounds are beautiful Lots of activities and entertainment Pools are all very clean -ve Foul sewer smell in some areas Timeshare sales people always seem to be lurking around Beach is a bit below avg

This resort was amazing!

My friend and I just came back from this resort. We spent a week at this resort and we absolutely loved it. The staff we’re great and provided us with wonderful service. Lots of fun activities by the pool and the beach is great. Food was very good as well. Only downside is the walking. This resort is huge so you often have to walk a little bit to get from one place to the next. Overall it was wonderful. Would definitely return to this resort!

Huge resort

The hotel is way to big, not for the physically challenge as there is a lot of walking and steps. The buffets were okay. We were only allowed to book 3 of the speciality restaurants & didn't know our times that we had requested until that day at 4:00, because the VIP's came first. At night we only had 1 bar open(lobby) or we had to take the shuttle over to the Tropical, they had 3 bars. the beach was nice, we could walk to the one VIP & use it. We upgraded before we left to a junior suite garden view & our garden view was a brick wall & a parking lot full of golf carts. We complained & 2 days later they moved us to a slightly better view of a hill with grass. It's was better than the first room. We got the impression it was all about the VIP's. After a 2 hour tour to try to get us to buy into the resort we said no & it seemed to us it was all about the VIP's, we won the trip so we made the best of it We would not have booked this resort on our own. There was a awful smell of sewer as we walked around the resort.

Staff were very friendly

Grounds were beautiful, food was good, many stairs to climb and a lot of walking, pools were beautiful and clean, beach was just fair...always windy especially in the evening, rooms were nice...had hot water most of the time, were clean and had nice balconies

Beautiful Resort

The resort was beautiful, well maintained. The pools were great, lots of variety to choose from. Activities throughout the day. The restaurants and the food was great. The guest welcome part was amazing

Not for MOBILITY impaired

If you have Mobility problems this is not the resort for you. When you arrive at Lobby you have to go down stairs to get to bar area and pools. Then more stairs to go down to buffet then more stairs to get to room. They also have pathways that all have an incline. Food Ok no problems and lots of choices. Lots of lounge chairs around pools and close to a bar. Beach VERY weedy and not very suitable to go in. Toilets are a big problem as most do not flush away waste. Had to keep calling for a plumb [... read more]er to clear toilets. Remember you are on Dominican time when you are there and pace is very slow. Rooms comfortable but very old furniture.

Beautiful disappointment

Short and sweet.....beautiful stunning resort...awesome variety of pools and food....but we both got food poisoning as did many others we spoke too. I would still recommend this place...just do not eat the meat or make sure it is FULLY cooked (the food was delicious!) Staff was super helpful and nice as well.

Great starter resort!

This was the first all-inclusive resort my girlfriend and I have been to. It was great. We were worried after booking and reading the reviews but we had nothing to worry about. We booked a standard room, although it was falling apart (the dresser door was loose, cracks in the bathtub calking, and a broken ceiling fan control), it wasn't enough to turn us off from having a good time. The room itself was very clean and the balcony looked like it was nicer and bigger than even the junior suites. An [... read more]other benefit of our room was location. We were a good 7-10 minute walk away from the beach however we were a step away from eveything else - most notably the pearl. We The food was delicious, and we didn't get sick. Freddy, our Transat advisor made it easy for us to book excursions, and the resort had enough evening and daytime activities to keep us busy if we felt like we needed to do something. I could go on but ill leave it at this: This is definitely a 4-star resort if you have a vip membership as you have access to more beach space and golf cart access, 3.5 otherwise. Keep in mind, there were enough VIPs around the public areas so I cant imagine the experience being any different. Oh and seriously, about the time share tour complaints... We were able to put our feet down and say no (which wasnt hard), but on our way home we heard a few people complain about losing 5 hours on their first day. Trips are what you make it!

No wow for me!!!

This experience did not wow me at all. Suite was very dated air conditioning was broken. Resort was too spread out. Too many sales pitches all day. Overall not impressed at all. Very disappointed with our stay

Beautiful resort!!!

The resort and hotel and lobby were all so well kept!! The grounds were always being kept clean. The staff was so pleasant and very friendly! The restaurants and buffet was good and always very clean and fresh

Resort based on your wealth!

My husband and I found the property to be beutiful, pools were nice, beach was nice( not the nicest we've seen , but still preety) in regards to the property the only real complaint was not being able to access everywhere ( bracelet system , you couldn't access VIP areas which was half of the resort!) so limited areas which we didn't like)And there was a sewage system that was visible and smelt awful depending which way the wind blew. The food was ok, although half the resort seemed to get stomache bugs and some were hospitalized. My husband and I took pepto once daily to try to combat and only one day did we feel out stomaches really feel horrible the rest of the week we we're ok! I would recommend this resort of your VIP or a time share holder but not for the regular clientele . Also they do try to sell you very sneakily the time shares ! We had one staff pick us up in the golf carts while we were taking a stroll just said come have a tour of the nicer areas of you haven't seen them yet, we had nothing better to do than so we did . Before you knew it a man in a suit was trying to get us to sign a contract and shmooze with us first by just asking for our reviews and what they could improve on ,offering many top quality drinks from the VIP section! (Trying to get my husband drunk I think , but we knew better!)The shareholders area is beutiful we did take the tour but .... There are many other beutiful areas to see :)

Not clean

Lot of people get sick. People is nice and service is fine. Smell terrible everywhere, lots of flies over the food. Not clean. Lots of stairs and not many access for a wheel chair or strollers. No recomendable

Great Resort

The rooms were dated but clean. Grounds were always being tended to. Restaurants were fabulous, the food was so well prepared and delicious. Staff very helpful and polite. Only downside was the bars. The staff did not seem to be able to mix drinks properly. After two days, I gave up and drank just water because I do not drink beer. On the whole no complaints. Air Transat rep. at hotel was exceptional.

Beautiful Resort, beautiful time

I would rate this resort a 3 star. We had the standard room which was fine because we don't spend much time in the room. The staff was great, very friendly and helpful. The resort itself is about 50 minutes from the airport, is located on a hill and is beautiful, very lush and clean. Everything is within walking distance (we are a young family). There are a lot of stairs but if you have a stroller they can be avoided by taking the longer way up (road used by golf carts) - we definitely got fit w [... read more]ith all the walking which is a plus. The food was good, a lot of variety and the Italian restaurant was nice. The beach is small but the water is very warm and the waves are fun not overpowering. Some downsides : we were at Cofresi from Feb 1 - 8, 2016 and we all got sick from the food, and so did everyone we spoke to. Because we used the same roads as the golf carts we inhaled a lot of diesel smoke. Also, we had to pass by the semi-open sewage system on the way to the beach. Thankfully our room wasnt anywhere near and the smell didn't bother us but if you are unlucky and get a room close by it could make an unpleasant stay. I got a rash from the bracelet but everyone else was fine. Overall it was a nice trip and I would recommend this resort

Wonderful time!

Beautiful resort, built on a hill so many stairs but help to work off all those meals. Restaurants were delicious especially the Mexican and Italian. Lot s of pools no trouble getting a lounge chair. Staff was great and helpful.

Best Resort We've Been to Yet!

We could honestly say we had one of our best family vacations at Cofresi! Everything from the flight down to the check out and return was excellent. The rooms were comfortable and everything in working order. The food was amazing all around! Dined at the a la carte selections as well as buffet daily and grill by beach was handy! Pools, bars and beach area were all relaxing and not over crowded by any means. There were plenty of COMFORTABLE loungers around the water areas. We missed the VIP dinner and party on Sunday night but everyone raved about it and we could see the fire works from our balcony. We didn't partake in any excursions as they were in all American $$ and pricey with the terrible exchange at this time and kept ourselves entertained. This resort is moderately steep as it is carved into the side of a mountain so make sure you have good shoes for walking. That being said, there are plenty of shuttle stops to take you where you want to go and getting around was not an issue. Lastly, the grounds were lovely and well manicured which was nice with shade and tropical breeze at night for added atmosphere. We are planning to return to Cofresi again as we found the resort to be just what we like!

Great resort and people

I thought the hotel was super , the staff were all helpful and pleasant, the beach was great and the pools were clean,. the food was yummy lots of choice.....the entertainment was good 3 nights other nights very poor....the planned VIP parties were excellent...

Had a great time at Cofresi Palm Beach Resort! Great food, the rooms were very clean , lots of variety in entertainment and very friendly employees especially the entertainment people. They really can put up a nice party all the time! The only thing they need to improve its the snack bar at the beach which was very poor in food! The beach area was really well maintained but a little bit small. We went on a tour to Paradise Island and I recommend everyone to go but take the Vip tour. Good resort

Resort is designed to house people and cram them in - there is no park or garden area to walk. Every morning there are people trying to sell you their version of time shares - they get you by asking you if you just arrived and offer to show you around the resort (but they take you to the "tower" where they give you the talk about buying into the Lifestyles community). - Food was good - on Sunday, they have a large outdoor buffet where they have a huge stage show to promote the Lifestyles communi [... read more]ty. - Staff are very accommodating and friendly. - If you don't go the VIP expense, you are very limited to the areas you are allowed in this huge complex. The resort is built on a hill and there are stairs everywhere to get to the main lobby and buffet. Golf carts are everywhere and you have to move aside lots to let them pass - carts create lots of air pollution as they are gas powered. We went the VIP route and had an excellent room close to the beach - room was excellent - very large with jetted tub and walk-in shower in bathroom. The only negative about the room are the thin walls - you can literally hear someone sneeze in the next room. - beach area is not private - locals are allowed - you need a bracelet to allow security to let you into the resorts.

First destination wedding

I totally enjoyed our trip and our stay at Cofresi was great. The resort is beautiful and lush the staff was friendly and helpful. We loved the vip veach. The welcome party was awesome and the wedding was lovely.
