Not Bad

Liked the openness and overall feel of the resort. Our first room was nice, but we changed to get a king size bed and were disappointed with the odor. Staff in the buffet were not friendly or attentive. The resort was easy to get around. The beach was nice but needs shade nearer the water.

Excellent place to stay!!

Overall great resort. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. Very clean and beautiful grounds. Lots of activities for families to. Beach was nice. Could have been a little cleaner though. Food was excellent and drinks were good!

Good time

Went for 7 days with my boyfriend we are both late 20's. I have stayed in the Dominican before at a 3.5 star hotel and this hotel was very similar. We had a great time, the room was great with a king bed and a balcony. The grounds were kept tidy and we found everything to be very clean. The food at the buffet was just okay, always found something to eat but found it repetitive, which is to be expected. The staff who are in charge of the daily activities were awesome, always had a smile on their faces and remembered our names. we joined in a few days in the activies and won some prizes which was fun. I found the bartenders slightly rude if you didn't leave a tip every single time you got a drink... a few of them were super nice, the main bartender at the bar by the pool was not very good at making drinks unfortunately, I found they made them super strong! which to some people may not be a bad thing. We unfortunately forgot to purchase the safe as this was not offered at the time of check in and with the excitement of arriving we forgot to ask. This was a bad decision as I had $80 US stolen from my wallet the first day which was hidden inside my carry-on in the cupboard. so not right out in plain sight.... I was pretty upset about this as anyone would be.. I reported to the front desk and they had security come take a look in our room and check who was in there but nothing came of it. The beach at the hotel is just okay, the water looks a bit dirty and there is seaweed lining the beach... if you walk down the beach apparently the water gets much clearer. We took the Excursion to Paradise Island. This was the best day of the vacation. We booked through the resort, they have a hut set up by the pool and Mosquito who we booked through was great! Paradise Island was so beautiful and it was a very fun day! overall we had a very good time with minor downfalls which are to be expected when you visit a 3rd world country!

Relaxing vacation

I thought the resort was a great size, food was good but service was not the best , grounds were clean and not to far from everything, I found the rooms need upgrading and had musky smell but once we changed our rooms it was fine .all the rooms need is some small repairs .the service in buffet and bars was very slow.

GREAT WEEK

We arrived around 2 pm and was processed , escorted to our room and on the beach with a drink in our hand .Staff in all areas were extremely pleasant. Rooms were clean and had no strange odors .We would go back again.

Beautiful Beach, Excellent Staff, Relaxation!

It was our first time traveling South and we had a a great time! Excellent staff, always welcoming and friendly. Very clean, we didn't see any insects in the rooms and very few around the resort! The shows in the evening were excellent, very entertaining. Our flight was delayed leaving and they locked our luggage in a room so we could enjoy our stay after checking out of our room, with the option to continue with the meal plan and drinks. The buffet was different every night, more than enough op [... read more]tions, they use bottled water for ice and drinks, we found lots to eat (too much!) Strongly recommend this resort, you will not be disappointed! :)

The only place to go!

Honestly this resort is absolutely amazing. The staff are super friendly, and fun! The variety and taste of the food was amazing! There was literally food and drinks at anytime of day! Any issues were minor and resolved instantaneously. The ocean was weedy, but you can still see the effort of the staff to clean up.

Was nice with a few flaws

The resort itself was nice, we had a few problems when we got there with our rooms. We traveled with a group of 9 and tried to get all our rooms together but couldn't, which is understandable. I had to change rooms because when I tried to open the sliding door the door frame came right off which didn't allow us to lock our room. Things were dealt with the next day and the room situation was all good. And the food in the buffet was not very pleasing, except for the omlet bar in the morning. The fancy resturaunts were good. The gormet was my favourite.

Absolutely beautiful

The resort was stunning, the hotel was beautiful the service and food was amazing. This was are first trip was 9 of us we had a blast from the start to the end. We where all sad to see it come to an end. Plans are already in the works to return next year.

Good resort

Friendly staff and relaxing environment. Food was good in the buffet, great varieties of menus. The room was average, housekeeper did an excellent job and it was clean. The evening shows were fair and cheerful.

A great vacation

The hotel is big and there is plenty to do. It rained for two days and the hotels wifi was good enough for Netflix. Once it cleared up there was tons of beach and pool activities. The food was great and the gourmet a la carte was unbelievable. The best steak I've ever eaten.

Great Value

My wife and I spent a terrific week here last month and would happily return. The amenities (even a gym), location, entertainment, service and especially the food were all above our expectations. Wifi was good, and though not free, was inexpensive.

Nice hotel

Bed was uncomfortable!! Beach staff was always after you (almost harassment). Server's and maid was excellent. Pools are clean, beach was nice! Food was not soo good! First and last time in Rep.Dom.!!

Ok but not fantastic!

beach great, entertainment terrible- staff's comedy & entertainment pretty terrible & not really funny. Not a place for kids. Found one cockroach in our room. Scams everywhere if you are looking to go out of complex. Don't take any fishing excursions....all scams. Food ok.

Amazing Resort

Excellent food, clean water, good drinks, amazing staff. Most beautiful beaches and long shore line, almost 3 KM walks along the beaches. Great prompt fast room service. Excellent a la crate restaurants.

Great place to relax

This place was perfect for us! We wanted to have a relaxing time away from our busy life we have and this gave us that and more. Food was great and good varity each day. Beach was good and the pool was huge. Loved the service and the room was excellent. Staff was very friendly .

everything was close at hand food was great pool and resort including rooms were very clean staff resourceful a bit more English would help and entertainment started to late at night buffet was awesome

An all right resort

Grounds were fair, food fair, pool good, staff not overly friendly, the night shows were the worst I have ever seen, beach lots of seaweed, bathrooms clean and always toilet paper, room clean, did not like the locals on the beach trying to sell you stuff and on the resort trying to sell you timeshares and on sat there was locals that had set up tables selling you souvenirs they were very pushy you couldn't even walk on that side of the pool as they would hound you

Be Live Puerto Plata is beautiful!

Our Christmas week family vacation at Be Live Puerto Plata was wonderful! Our rooms in block 3 were very nice, and clean thanks to our housekeeper Clara. Blondie, Danny Boy, Mosquito (Luis) and others kept us delightfully entertained. The wide variety of food was fresh, well prepared, and delicious. Our egg chef cheerfully made delicious omelettes and eggs to order. The Christmas Eve and Christmas Day meals were extra special. The pool and grounds were nicely decorated for Christmas and well mai [... read more]ntained. All the staff, including Norvin the Sunwing representative, were very friendly and helpful. A bell boy arranged for a local taxi to take us the cathedral for Christmas Day Mass and we were well served by driver Jose Vasquez, who stayed with us for 3 three hours and gave us a great tour of Puerto Plata. Junior and Ramon from Outback Safari did a great job on our excursion into the countryside. We finished up with an excellent massage at the hotel spa. All in all, we were very satisfied with everything.

The overall location and common areas are well laid out. Good number of activities. Great food. The staff are very courteous particularly Andre or fondly called Chihuahua who went out of the way to make our stay pleasant.
