Hotel Rancho Luna: Great value

This hotel has come a long way over the past two years including retiling the pool and patio all around. New tiki bar. The staff were accommodating. I've been here a few times and the location is great the public beach is beautiful.

Club Amigo Ancon: Not what I have experienced before at this hotel

====================================== Review from latest trip to Club Amigo Ancon (June 7-14, 2015): (I can't rate this stay as more than 2.5-stars. As a frequent vistor, it was disappointing! Better in January - April.) 1. At this time, the hotel is undergoing their Summer Maintenance (as expected). 2. As a "senior", I was given a room on the 3rd floor - the highest - while younger people had rooms on the main floor. Since there is no elevator, it meant that I needed to climb 3 flights of stai [... read more]rs every time that I returned. 3. On check-in: When my key didn't work (for about 5 minutes), I was told by reception - "Well, you're only here for a week, so it's not worth changing the room for you". (See Item 4) My response: "So, I should spend the week in the hallway??". Seems that the pivoting door handle doesn't work if you pull down (the usual), but you need to push it UP! 4. The promised Oceanview Room faced directly away from the ocean - I could get an ocean view if I walked down the hallway to an open area. 5. Due to the rain (not blaming the hotel for this one) ....There were Crabs of all sizes, and more bugs than I would like. I had more bites than I've had in ALL my previous visits to Ancon! Meanwhile, it was "business as usual" - no REAL attempt to handle the bug (including Sand Fleas) infestation. On the first morning, I had 3 bites - when I applied cream, the area spread to a larger area! (Yes! I was worried that it was infected - it has now disappeared.) 5. When I asked for a Band-Aid, I was told that I'd need to visit the pharmacy at "Brisas" - the neighbouring hotel! 6. The Hotel Ancon Bank was closed - and the Reception did not have currency for conversion until the day before my checkout. The only possibility for Currency Conversion was a trip to Trinidad. (If you don't have Cuban currency, how do you pay for a bus trip to Trinidad?) Also, the Massage Area was closed, the "Hospital" was closed, the Gym was closed, and the Cava Bar was closed (all in the same area of the Hotel). I understand that the Hotel is not working at full capacity, but I should not have treated as a "person who expects a handout" - Item 3. Conclusion: If it has rained more than usual prior to your visit, don't visit! Don't expect any real courtesy - it's the "Slow Season" so they have limited staff to deal with everything. Don't expect the "All Inclusive" perks - the food is mediocre and repetitious. (The 24-hour bar is your best option - drinks, fries, and pizza.) Entertainment is minimal - music, a Magic Show, and not much beyond that. The beach is always nice - the white sand and warm ocean helps.

Club Amigo Costa Sur: no internet no hotmail.it is to bad.

the beach is ok.a little small.pool area is fine .waiters are very nice.no hot water for shower.for the price it was a good hotel.the woman how change the money,did had 2 jobs.So if you had to change,you are always had to wait.and the computer did not work for Hotmail.now that was a shame.

Club Amigo Costa Sur: Surprise, surprise

The staff was superfriendly, from the time we checked in to the time when we left the shuttle bus. Although the "toys" we not bountiful what was there was more than enough to keep myself and my three kids happy. There could be more food options but with the snack bar and the buffets there is more than enough options. Not a resort for every one, as finicky people would find things to complain about but if your willing to suck it up a bit there is no reason why you wouldn't enjoy your stay.

Hotel Rancho Luna: It Turned Out Okay

We had a rocky start. The room that we were to have had on the ground floor was not available. When booking I was told that this could be accommodated. However this was not the case and I had 4 days that I had to do the stairs and because of knee problems this was very painful for me. The resort was clean and tidy. The food was average.

Hotel Rancho Luna: Decent for Price

The hotel has all you need and is good value. There are no bells and whistles. It is not overly special. But it has 3 bars. A nice pool. Many organized events. A nice beach. Rooms are basic but fine, air conditioned and the maids are great. Food is average for Cuban standards. Free bus service to Cienfuegos is great. Many options for booking day trips can be done at resort.

Hotel Pasacaballo: Hotel Pasacaballo.. Great Value...

Hotel is very well maintained for it's age and staff very welcoming. Stayed for 1 week and enjoyed the grounds very much. Food was consistently the same, but something for everyone with high standard of preparation. Hotel is ideally located across from bus stop for easy travel into the city of Cienfuegos. Also, very near a dock for water taxi to the town of Castillo across the water way.

Club Amigo Ancon: Big resort

Negative: public beach, many domestic people, making noise. Poor entertiment, every day the same. So far from airport. CUC so hi exchange rate. Seafood restaurant has no sea food. Service frendly, but slow.

Hotel Rancho Luna: Good and staff at resource excellent

Nice, clean, well organized, bus available for city included in price. Staff especially cook Luies extremely good. For 14 days no sickness at all, good to rest. Weather and water vey nice. Enjoy (*_*)

Memories Trinidad Del Mar: Will go back again and again

We have been to this amazing location numerous times and have no doubt we will go back. The staff are excellent! We absolutely love going to Trinidad to enjoy their many excellent restaurants! The resort is clean and I can honestly say I have no complaints about the food there. It is basic food (Totally organic!) and I look forward to the Cuban restaurant!

Memories Trinidad Del Mar: Better than a four star

The hotel grounds and rooms were clean and very well maintained. The room could have used a small fridge. The beach is beautiful. A jeep trip into the Topes Collantes national park is highly recommended. I would go back in a heartbeat -to the hotel and the park. Only downside - two hour trip from Santa Clara airport to the hotel.

Memories Trinidad Del Mar: Beautiful Authentic Cuban Resort

This is a great resort with helpful, friendly staff always willing to help or just give a smile. The food was good, plentiful and the service prompt. I liked the resort theme, grounds and beach setup, as it was easy to get around, get drinks, entertainment etc. It was nice to see the rooms and amenities have been updated and renovated. The location on Ancon Peninsula is fairly close to town and has access to local beaches a sweet view of water and mountains and of course Trinidad. Club Amigo Costa Sur: Always a Pleasure!

This hotel has the friendliest staff in Cuba, a lovely, tranquil lagoon surrounded by gorgeous vistas and makes you feel like family. The bungalows are clean and right on the lovely beach with calm waters and the mountains in the distance. A perfect spot for a no frills family vacation on a budget.

Memories Trinidad Del Mar: Beautiful beach and sea.

Well kept grounds, flowers everywhere; decent food; good cocktails (try the Havana Club bar); friendly staff. Sometimes there was a shortage of beach towels. The weather was perfect during our 14-day stay.

Club Amigo Costa Sur: Just Okay

Service was outstanding . Grounds and rooms very clean . Food substandard even to Cuban standards . Pool very clean and very cold . The beach is where everything goes south ..well because there really isn't one ..and the few within walking distance are public ..which we were reminded of several times a day by the Cuban Public Beach Watchdogs . Cubanair ...yikes ..never been stuffed into a plane like that ..it was terrible ..and just for good measure they kept the air temp. in the plane at 85 deg [... read more]. or so the entire flight ...both there and back .. Very glad we booked when price was bottomed out ...felt sorry for those folks that paid top dollar .

Club Amigo Ancon: well worth the visit!

The resort was excellent for kids and adults! I loved that they didn't undermine the kids but had everyday activities for them wee ones! Only down was the coral on the beach. It was so hard to walk on, I wish they would clear it up. Food was by far the best in Cuba!

Memories Trinidad Del Mar: Beautiful Beach

The hotel, grounds and rooms were very clean, a little dated but clean. The staff were amazing wether it was the front desk staff or the food servers helping you, you always got fantastic service. Beautiful location on a peninsula.

Club Amigo Costa Sur: Good place to chill from Canadian winter

Oldest, smallest and friendliest hotel on the beautiful Ancon Peninsula. Just 15 minutes by taxi to historic colonial Trinidad de Cuba. Rented a seafront bungalow (you should too) for two weeks. This hotel is quiet. No lager louts and yahoos stumbling about in a drunken stupor at 9 am. Lots of overnight day trippers so avoid the breakfast buffet until after 8 am when they board their buses. Great staff especially Caridad. She has been working in the restaurant for 40 years. And Lazaro, Andre and [... read more] Jesus (not that Jesus) make the best Mojitos. Buffet had good variety of fish, chicken, pork and lamb. Thursday is roast piggy on the spit day.

Hotel Rancho Luna: Do not go here!

This hotel is no longer a sanitary place to be. The rooms were full of black mould and the rooms were falling apart. The hotel staff were incredibly unaccommodating and we always felt like a bother with the simplest requests. The food was cold and for the most part uninspiring for the tastebuds. A hot shower was hard to come by... Do yourself a favour and book somewhere else!

Club Amigo Ancon: 3 star Hotel on a 5 star Beach - Perfect!

We picked this hotel because we wanted to visit Trinidad. We would definitely recommend the Superior Ocean view rooms that are right on the beach. We have been to Cuba many times and enjoy the music, dancing and the authenticity of this country. Food was good at the buffet and excellent at the 3 à la carte restaurant. The coffee bar was the highlight of the mornings and late afternoon.
