Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Beautiful Resort, disappointing food

Just came back from 2 weeks at the senator. We absolutely loved the resort, the layout was perfect, our room was really nice and overlooked the pools and the ocean. The bed was super comfortable.The pools were great, the beach was ok but we discovered the other beach on the cove where the cruise ships come in and spent a few great days down there, swimming and laying on the beach. The Japanese was pretty good and we enjoyed the steak house. Unfortunately the only one we could go to twice was the Italian which was mediocre the first time and terrible the second. The sports bar served good snack foods , burgers, chicken burgers , nachos , fries etc. That left us a lot of breakfast/lunch and dinners at the buffet which was very repetitive, and really disappointing, and never hot. We ended up eating off resort a few times just because we couldn't face another nite at the buffet. Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Amazing Resort

First trip solo and this resort is exactly what I was looking for. I felt very comfortable and safe all the time. It's a smaller resort. Close to market and shopping mall. The beach was a short walk and beautiful! Lots of chairs shade or sun! Resturant and bar right there too. Security guard on beach and resort at all times. Vendors were at the resorts and very respectful. My only disappointment were the women that were offering pedicures. Very aggressive and asking for ridiculous cost and t [... read more]oo persistent. Casa Marina Sosua Trademark by Wyndham All Inclusive: Another great time at Casa

This was my 15th time to Casa. Loved every minute. This trip I seen alot of upgrades.. New 50in tvs in rooms. Not sure of how many rooms had been done. Now there is free wifi throughout the resort. The grounds people were busy daily cutting grass.. 2 of the 3 cool pools were being sanded and repainted. Unfortunately my favorite one was one of them. Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Very good resort

Pool: 8/10 Facilities: 8/10 Buffet: 8/10 Beach: 7/10 Rooms: 7.5/10 Bars: 10/10 Excursions: 4/10 Concierge: 2/10 Staff: 10/10 Please drop the pressure time-share sales. Rooms are good but the views are poor. Excellent service from the staff.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Recommended VH Gran Ventana

We had a fantastic time - again. This was our 7th vacation at VH Gran Ventana. We love the resort, accommodation and the friendly and amazing staff. We highly recommend VH Gran Ventana to everybody who wants to relax, disconnect and enjoy the permanent summer weather.

In general resort run well. On the beach you feel that you are on the mobile commercial/ market,,,I understand that it is important for local community but it should be more limited some how? Under wise I am coming home from bussness trip,,,it damage impression of the trip very much,,,

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Nice Resort

This is my second time at the Senator resort. The good points of the visit were, Michelle, Junior, Walkerlin, and Alexander. Those four people made the stay much better so thank you very much guys.! As I said, this was my second time here and when I was here two years ago, they had no hot water for the whole week, but this time they had lots of hot water. The food was delicious. The food at the Ember steakhouse and at Zao Japanese food was extremely good. There were a couple of small things that I think should’ve been taken care of . 1. The one large pool was under construction and was empty and we were never informed about this before booking our trip. 2. No one had told us that on the weekend. The locals get to come there on Friday evening until Sunday evening and have an all inclusive deal for the weekend, I found that the 500 to 700 locals that showed up took over pretty well everything, when it came to the buffet, it was like Locust Landing. I really liked the senator resort but in all honesty I don’t think that I’ll return there. Just a note - I only gave the beach and pool two stars because of the empty pool. The beach was very nice and very well kept.

Viva Tangerine by Wyndham: Not what I expected

We just recently went to the Viva Tangerine by Wyndham and were very disappointed in the amenities and some of the services. I do not recommend staying at this hotel. The local people spend the weekends there which in its self is not an issue but they did not watch their kids then raided the hotel buffet the day they left after that the buffet was closed down till the next weekend. I have no plans to ever stay at a Wyndham property ever again. We were a large party of guests and were mostly housed in the beginning in kne building but by the time we went home we were spread all over the place due to things falling apart in the rooms. Such as the ceiling falling on a bed, air conditioning breaking, and beds breaking. If I wasn’t with good company it would have been the worst trip I had ever been on

Casa Marina Sosua Trademark by Wyndham All Inclusive: Casa Mediochre

Welcoming staff at front are nice, all security guards are nice, most restaurant staff is nice, rooms are kept clean and everything worked. The only thing is that I’ve gotten sick off of the food two out of three times I’ve been here. It definitely puts a damper on the vacation. Great location just have to improve parasites in the food.

Viva Tangerine by Wyndham: Not What I Expectes

This resort was quite disappointing. The front desk staff were forward and didn't seem to eager to solve issues quickly. They had locals occupy the resort on the weekend, and the children were loud and not watched by parents. Our friends and I could.not attend a show due to noise and fighting amongst children. Locals then pillaged the buffet on Sunday afternoon to the point that the resort stopped serving food until 4pm. The only shining light was our housekeeper ( Dani ). The shuttle from the hotel.was terrifying for.my wife. The resort needs more bilingual people, language barrier was an issue. Not.much in the way of entertainment, and pushy Viva staff to join their club.

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Good Value Resort

We visited the Puerto Plata area for the first time and had a great experience overall. The resort offered good value for the money we spent. It’s small but cozy, and thanks to the low occupancy in mid-October, we were able to relax and really enjoy our stay. A big plus goes to the entertainment team — they did a fantastic job! On weekends, when more local guests arrived, it quickly became crowded and a bit dirty. The à la carte restaurants were open just three nights out of our seven-night stay, likely due to the low season. Overall, it’s a good four-star resort — clean, cozy, and well-maintained.

Emotions by Hodelpa Puerto Plata: Resort was perfect

Had a great stay at this resort. I have stayed there before. Entertainment, cleaning and front desk were all amazing. The ocean was closed for two days due to heavy currents but the beach was clean and remained open. I would definitely stay there again. Brian

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Great value for money

This resort provides great value for the money. Sure it is not really a 4.5 star resort but you are not going to get that at this price point. The suite was new and spacious , the staff was without exception helpful and friendly . The pool was nice and warm and the beach was long and beautiful . Great for walks. The food was tasty , keeping in mind that you are not going to get premium steak at this price point. Others have mentioned not great variety in the buffet which is true but there was e [... read more]nough to keep us satisfied for the week. The drinks were good but no premium alcohol. One complaint would be that they advertise unlimited a la carte dining but there a were no a la carte restaurants open for three of the seven days and often only one or two on other days. We did attend all four and they were good with the Mexican being the best and the Italian being our least favourite . All in all we were quite satisfied based on the approximately $1000 per person that we paid for an all inclusive week in a suite in early October. Great for the trip with kids and grandkids. We have been to nicer places but paid way more for those.

It was my first time here, And I must say the hotel was well kept, both inside and outside, the service is awesome, they go to the extreme to make sure that you`re comfortable and happy, I was recommended by a friend and I would surely do the same to others ( I`m loking forward to another visit soon)

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Lovely resort, would go back !

The smaller footprint makes for a very enjoyable experience getting from room to beach to food to bar... The taxi service to downtown is at the front door an a quick 10-15 minute trip. The staff was very friendly and special shout outs to Rosa, Felix and Adrian during breakfast/lunch service. Rosa in the evening and the two bartenders Andrea and Richardo! One of our party has food sensitivity and allergies and there was always plenty (and tasty) options! All beaches in the DR are public, so be prepared to have vendors. Being polite goes a long way! We would definitely go back, unfortunately there are no direct flights schedule to POP from YWG. We departed from Toronto. From the POP airport to the resort ~30 minutes with traffic.

Beach is beautiful.Pool maintaining well.Public area is safe.Rooms are clean and well maintain.Food can improved more.Staffs service is good.Bar reservation needs some change.Sarounding area of the hotel is very warm.Out trips like Catamaran,Paradise Island and city tour great great.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Relaxing break

This was my husband & my second time to the Iberostar Costa Dorada. Last visit was in 2019 just before Covid. Our room was large close to the beach. It was nice and quiet for a good nights rest and the bed was very comfortable. The pool is huge with plenty of lounge chairs. They played Merengue and Batchata music daily which I really enjoyed. The animation team had activities planned daily. They also had fitness instructors everyday that planned HIIT workouts, yoga and Pilates at the beach. T [... read more]he Interval training workouts got the heart rates up and they used the TRX straps too. The beach was perfect and well groomed twice a day. The water was clear with a sandy bottom perfect for swimming. I’d say we spent 8 days at the beach and 5 days at the pool. We had lunch at the restaurant by the pool which was good. They always had a fresh salad selection, pizza, pasta, chicken, pork chops, different cooked vegetables and lovely desserts and fruit. Plus you could get a capachino or drink. In the evenings we went to the front dining buffet which had a very good food selection. Lastly, there were 3 restaurants, Italian, Mexican, and Japanese. This resort also has a kids club with instructors that planned activities for the kids in and out of the pool. I will definitely return to the Iberostar. It’s easy to get around and a good place for all ages. I noticed they had access for wheelchairs to get close to the beach too. The resort is well laid out and there’s no tripping hazards for people with mobility issues.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: No complaints!

We had an amazing time at Grand Ventana! My boyfriend and I spent 4 nights there. It was a very relaxing and enjoyable stay. Very clean resort, food was good. Staff was amazing! Highly recommend taking a ride with Jose on the catamaran.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Amazing Hotel

Amazing hotel. Attention was excellent. Food as well. Rooms are so nice, and the staff were courteous. Place and pool are amazing. This hotel is close the street, so this is a good advantage for people who like to go downtown.
