Secrets The Vine Cancun: Nice but not for us!

I used to be a travel agent and I really enjoyed inspecting this property in 2015. My partner and I decided to give it a shot on a short 4 night stay in early April. We got an amazing price for the ROH room with Transat Holidays, and booked a direct transfer through USA Transfers so we could go straight to the hotel. We arrived in the mid morning on a Thursday and I've never been admitted to a country so quickly.... we were honestly off the plane and had our passports stamped in under 15 minutes [... read more], the longest part of the process was waiting for the transfer. Hotel arrival and check-in: We arrived and were greeted in the lobby with cold towels and sparkling wine. They took our luggage and we walked up to the front desk, where we were informed that because we booked the ROH room we had been provided a partial oceanview room with two double beds, but we were offered to upgrade to a Preference honeymoon category and declined. Our room wasn't ready, but we were asked to come back at 3pm. We were able to change into resort wear and grab some lunch at the Sea Salt grill and enjoy the views while we waiting for our room to be ready, which it was at 2pm. Room: we had room 1512, overlooking the Sandos side. I would recommend requesting a room facing the Hard Rock instead, as there are loud exhaust fans that blow an air fryer smell, though that didn't deter us from spending a lot of time reading on our balcony and enjoying the view of the ocean and the lagoon. The room was spacious with lots of storage. The bathroom is frosted glass walls around a separated shower stall and toilet (it's not exceptionally private, so if you're not travelling with your partner you may want to hang out on the balcony while your roommate is using the washroom), and two sinks. The hair dryer worked well, and the shower had a rain shower and regular head with separate controls, plus body wash, shampoo, conditioner and bar soap. We only had issues with hot water on the day that we arrived, all other days the water was hot and there was lots of it. We did have a slight sewage smell coming from our toilet on the last day. Food: we enjoyed the taste of everything that we ate, and the breakfast buffet was really impressive. We ate at the Dragon, Nebbiolo, Bluewater Grill, and Sea Salt Grill while we were there. We enjoyed the food the most at the Dragon restaurant and least at Nebbiolo. We did find that the Nebbiolo and the Bluewater Grill were quite warm, while the Dragon restaurant had the AC blasting. We arrived each night at 6pm and had no issues getting seated. I'm a pescatarian and my partner is a lactose free and we were able to find a lot to eat, and it also appears that the menu has gluten free and vegan options. You can get to go boxes at the buffet for lunch, and there's a limited (if you don't eat meat) snack bar at Barefoot Grill. We did both get sick while at the resort, which was unfortunate as our trip was so short. My symptoms were consistent with food poisoning (nausea and stomach cramps). It's the first time I've ever been sick at a resort in Mexico, so it was probably more bad luck than anything. Entertainment: The evening entertainment was actually really great! We were impressed that most of the evening shows were performed live (not lipsyncing), and even enjoyed the music that was available in the lobby before the evening show. Our favourite was the Queen tribute band and the Tropicana show, unfortunately we did not get to see the full suite of shows at we weren't there a full week. The daytime entertainment seemed to be fun, but it was too much for us. Lots of loud music, lots of activities going on and we prefer a resort to be more relaxing during the day. This resort seemed to have more of a party crowd, and the music reflected that. They had live bands down by the pool bar in the afternoon, and that seemed to be popular. Shade/chairs: the days we were there it was INCREDIBLY windy, so it was impossible to open the umbrellas. All the chairs with the best shade were taken early in the morning, but there were still a lot of available chairs in the sun around 8-9 am. We set up on the couches by Barefoot grill so that we could have full shade but still see/hear the ocean while reading our books. Bring a hat with a chin strap or a head band to keep the hair out of your face lol There are cabanas that you can rent but they were too expensive for us. :) Pools: The pools were nice, though we only went in once. The water was chilly at first, but the actual temperature was quite pleasant. They aren't very deep (but I'm 5'7"). It was really easy to get a towel, and they had them available at different areas. The drinks: They had decent house wine, and there was a lot of variety for reds which was nice (merlot, cab sauv, malbec). They also serve beer in cans and you can choose which brand you want from Heineken, Dos Equis, Tecate, etc. We did the included wine tasting (available at 1pm and 3pm) and it was one of our favourite daily activities. The lobby: before going we had read some complaints of a sewage smell in the lobby. I could smell it very faintly. I also read complaints about the lobby being too hot, and while it was warm it wasn't uncomfortable. They use diffusers in the lobby and the smell is really strong, so if you're sensitive to scents in can be overwhelming. The staff: All the staff we interacted were fantastic! They do a great job, and they're super friendly. 10/10 for the staff. Our maid was also lovely. Overall: if you're looking for a lively adults only resort in Cancun, this is a good choice... it's not a party resort, but it's not quiet either. It wasn't our scene and we won't be back, but we may try a different Secrets property in the future if we can fit it in our budget. All in all, for the price we paid I would say that this resort was great value.

Catalonia Grand Costa Mujeres: Beautiful Resort

everything was very clean beautiful grounds The service was excellent and the beach spectacular. This was my third stay at Grand Catalonia. Drinks were great and restaurants were clean and not much waiting time for meals.

Riu Dunamar: Great place

Great hotel food and best customer service we experienced for years…we travelled to many places in down South. Overall 10 plus experience for adults and families. Staff was friendly not in your face asking questions and never waiting for anything from front desk to beach service just amazing.We will return and recommend to others

Grand Oasis Cancun: Trip of a lifetime

Riu Latino: Great Resort!

We had a great experience at Riu Latino. The resort is beautiful. The grounds are really clean and well kept. We enjoyed the food at all the restaurants, the Italian was our favorite. The staff were all very friendly. Would highly recommend a stay at this resort. We will be back!

Crown Paradise Club Cancun: Great resort for family with kids

Everything was great except food. There was less variety compared to Riviera Maya hotels in Cancun.the spa centre doesnt except USD cash which was unexpected. We paid with credit card and paid extra fees for conversion.

Riu Dunamar: Amazing

Starting with an organized shuttle to hotel,getting an upgrade beautiful room,everything was just perfect. We loved the pools,manicured grounds.surely we will go back to enjoyment of the same.the food pleased every taste and plenty of varieties

Catalonia Grand Costa Mujeres: Nice Clean Resort

The resort is beautiful. The rooms are big and nice. The beach is great. The pools are good. However, the food could have been better. At times it was very bland and the only restaurant I really enjoyed was the Italian restaurant.

Occidental Costa Cancun: Clean and friendly

This hotel has lovely openness to it. It took far too long to check in with only 3 people working the front desk. They did immediately pull us aside to sell us on time share at their sister site, and while pleasant they are persistent. The property was very clean and well maintained. The food was fresh daily and seating readily available, we never waited more than 2 mins for a seat. The room we were given was impressively large with a great size balcony. I found that the bed was more firm that I would have liked and the same can be said for the pillows. The resort is very organized when it was time to leave they were expecting and looking for us. The people are so great! for the package I purchased this trip was exactly what I was looking for.

Riu Latino: Nice Resort

- New hotel - everything was fresh and inviting - Public bathrooms - felt that there should be more bathrooms closer to the stage and restaurants. [Staff did a good job keeping them clean] - Rooms - Kept exceptionally clean but the view was AWFUL - our two rooms were on the second floor. We booked courtyard view [ it should have been called rooftop view because you could only see the roof ]. I was very disappointed because this was something that I would not have wanted. Entertainment - pool entertainment was exceptionally good and evening was average, however, the hotel gets really quiet at around 11:00 there should be something available to entertain longer. Beach - way to far - they did do a good job trying to keep the seaweed clean. No bathroom or bar close by. Would I go back - Probably not - found that you had to walk a lot to get where you want to go. Very disappointed with our hotel view. Many of the hotel festivities had to be shuttled to the sister hotel. Hotel was far from everything. Be aware - Cancun charges Environmental tax at the hotel and Vista tax

Riu Palace Peninsula: Amaizing hotel

Everything was perfect, hotel, food, fun, the Riu parties were super fun, as were the DJs, beautiful, first-class service, all the waiters were super friendly, variety of food and delicious, the bar was 100% full with drinks, super fun, we had an incredible time and would return to the same beautiful hotel

Riu Palace Costa Mujeres: Exceptional as always

We go every year to this resort; we call our second hom, for a couple weeks. Secrets Playa Blanca Costa Mujeres: The resort EXCEEDED our EXPECTATIONS

This resort was elegant,beautiful welcoming and simply stunning. The have amazing sitting areas with firepits and fountains throughout the resort.The hospitality and service at all restaurants was exceptional. The rooms are beautiful and spacious.Staff were all incredibly kind and helpful, they went above and beyond. The beach was pristine just Beautiful.This is now one of our top resort destinations. Truly Relaxing

Riu Latino: Best resort I’ve ever been to!

This was a great trip for all of us. I took my 3 adult (20 something) kids to Riu Latino. It was perfect for them! We all loved it. Something for everyone. The Riu parties were really fun. The hotel/rooms are pristinely clean. Service was amazing. The staff work extremely hard and I was more than happy tipping everyone as a result. Entertainment was impressive. I loved that they had food stations cooking on site in small batches so foods like, steaks, fish, pastas, Mexican, etc. were always fresh. All the restaurants were very good as well. We are foodies and eating did not disappoint. Pools are great in that you had a selection from quiet up to drunken pool bar and everything in between. Beach was beautiful. Pristine water and gorgeous white sand. Can’t say enough good about this resort. It hits every 5 star for sure! The only thing I would say could be nice, is a boardwalk from the resort to the beach as it’s a long walk in hot sand but that’s minor:) Great trip all round!

Senator Riviera Cancun Spa Resort: Amazing resort

Cannot fault this resort, excellent staff, excellent restaurants and food. Clean, tidy and modern rooms. Lots of fun activities and great shows. The grounds were very clean and always being attended to. We will definitely return.

Riu Latino: Wonderful vacation!

We thoroughly enjoyed our vacation at Riu Latino. The resort was impeccably clean, more often than not when I went to the washroom someone was in there cleaning. The food was very good with lots of variety. The buffet alone could've satisfied me for the week. But the a la carte restaurants were very good and the no reservation policy was nice. This was our first time at an adults only resort and we really liked it. No kids around and the party atmosphere was not too loud or out of control.  [... read more] The evening shows were quite good and we went to almost all of them. The bartenders made a great variety of delicious drinks. The entertainment staff did a great job of offering fun activities of which we did a few. The beach was beautiful and the pools always had a chair somewhere. I'm trying to think of any negatives, the only one I could come up with was when we went on an excursion south of Cancun it was a long trip each way. I would absolutely return here.

Secrets The Vine Cancun: Nice beach!

The 3main things that come up from this location, 1- no cafeteria smell on buffet area, thats a big wow, 2- all the food was excellent and 3- the staff always smiling and not afraid to have a chat with us.

Planet Hollywood Cancun by Royalton: Beautiful resort

The grounds, pools, beaches…the entire property was pristine. Very impressed aT our accommodations and equally impressed with the restaurants and food. However, our check in was very disappointing. We waited in line for over 3 hours to check in. There was a large group in front of us and while we were waiting in line, another bus load of guests arrived and proceeded to walk past us in line and join their group. None of the employees seemed to stop this or even care. The front desk staff  [... read more]were not very helpful. I had an Issue about a charge to my credit card for a service we did not use, I approached guests services to have this charge reversed on my card and was reassured it would be. However, I returned back home and the charge was still on my credit card. A charge for upgraded accommodations that we never received and it was for over $2000 US. Very disappointing and unacceptable. For this reason I give the hotel a 6/10. I was very happy with everything but just a fyi, guest services and the front desk were not very helpful or professional.

Riu Dunamar: Riu Dunamar

The Riu NEVER disappoints. The resort was clean, the food was amazing and the staff were phenomenal. Customer service is always 10/10. The only suggestion I would make is regarding the lounge chairs at the pool as many guests will leave their towels to “claim” a chair, however they never actually utilize the chairs, leaving them unoccupied and not allowing other guests to utilize and enjoy the pool space

Grand Palladium Select Costa Mujeres: Beautiful Resort

Our Stay The resort was beautiful from the minute you drove through the gates. The grounds were spotless with every tree trimmed perfectly and a super modern designed lobby. The entire staff treated us fantastic all so friendly . The carts were plentiful to take us around the resort as well it was fun going on the boats to some destinations. The room was spectacular. I was a bit nervous about the open view to the bathroom but they had a full remote controlled blind so it was totally private. [... read more] Never had any problems with hot water, bar always filled. The beds were very comfortable. All of the restaurants and the buffet had ample selections and the food was great. The beach had the softest white sand the waves were a bit rough some days but a great beach. It was one of the nicest vacations I have ever had. I would recommend that hotel to everyone would love to go back again for two weeks this time. We were a group of 5 and all like to dance and drink and have a good time even though we are older still love having fun.
