Occidental Cozumel: We love it here!!

Awesome staff! Front office Gabriel is the best. Small resort with a big heart. Beds are very comfortable; clean rooms; large bathrooms. Food delicious, many options. Love the beach-able to snorkel from shore. Entertainment staff are amazing, great shows.

Occidental Cozumel: great holiday

we were celebrating our 45th anniversary and had a really good time. The staff were friendly and helpful. The place was very clean and well maintained and the food was very good. People always talk about the liquor being watered down at all - inclusives but I had a few straight shots while we were there and they were not watered down. The pool was nice and the beach was beautiful and well looked after. We went to all three a la carte restaurants during our stay and had three excellent meals. We  [... read more]asked to change rooms after the first night because we were right beside the entertainment that went til 1:30 am and they were very nice about it, moving us to a quieter area. It was mostly couples staying at the resort, with a few larger groups who were a little boisterous, but no bad behaviour.

Fiesta Americana Cozumel: More than I expected

The resort was amazing. The people were extremely friendly, the food was great-didn’t matter which restaurant you went to. The fish tacos were the best and they really tried to change things up at the buffet. I also loved that you didn’t have to make reservations at the a la carte restaurants. The snorkelling was out of this world. I felt like I was in a fish tank. So many fish of different shapes, sizes and colours. I would recommend this resort to anyone.

Zel Cozumel: Back for a 7th year!

* A+ for the welcoming staff (includes the main dining room; bar services; room attendants) - a B+ for the front desk (helpful as long a you did not have a major problem) * Upgrades since our last visit (January 2018) are obvious. The resort is now painted in a neutral beige/white (rather than the 1980s themed bright yellow!) Tower bathroom in room are mainly now walk-in showers - very nice with overhead shower fixture. * Glad to have a dresser placed in our tower room (needed for a two w [... read more]eek stay) but many people did NOT have a place to put their clothing except for a small closet. * Areas are well maintained and CLEAN - except for the two bathrooms (by the pool + downstairs by the restaurants). For only two stalls used all day … they need more bathrooms. The attendants worked to keep them clean but when used toilet paper is requested to be put into a basket (not down the toilet) the smell is overpowering. Needs to be emptied on an hourly basis if that is their request. * We are not 'foodies' so we ate at the regular restaurant buffet for our meals. Good choices, but could be hotter. * Wages are low, so we always tip generously. $3USD at breakfast and lunch; $5 at dinner. (If we want our room cleaned - fresh towels every other day we tip $5 and usually some fun school supplies/stickers/treats etc. - we just leave the sign on the door 'Do Not Disturb' if not needing cleaning). The employees work non-stop and are so pleasant to guests - saddened to see zero gratuity left at numerous tables. * As two late 50s adults, we definitely prefer the Tower rooms (8th floor or higher) and which is connected to the adult only pool and bar. Elevator service is prompt, although the stairways are handy for lower floors. * As we are very familiar with Cozumel, we purchase two bicycles in town for our two weeks (not at the Mega) and are able to safely explore the 5km route into town, and zip around the backroads of town with no issues. (Nice to get away from the Tourists!) * Our usual travel agent was not aware that a NEW tax came into effect on January 1, 2019 at all Cozumel hotels. (I think that it is an environmental tax which amounts to about 24 pesos per day = our two weeks cost approximately $18USD.) Only mentioning this as it was charged when we were checking in - you may wonder 'what is going on as I've totally paid for my holiday' when they ask for your credit card and charge ???pesos)

Cozumel Hotel and Resort: Wonderful resort!

Hotel is wonderful. Very clean. Wonderful staff. Good food. Nice family resort. Will go back again. Within 25 mins of walking to town. We loved playing volleyball everyday. Can't say enough about the amazing staff. They make your stay!

El Cozumeleno Beach: Very Nice Vacation with Friends and Family

This resort is a very nice little resort. The grounds are well kept, rooms in the newer 9 story building were all well kept and very clean. Pool was cleaned regularly and the Staff were awesome. The location was great, service at the pool was awesome, snack bar and a la cart staff were fantastic, but, we also had a few things we didn’t like. We arrived at the hotel at 11 pm and there was no food or snack bar open to eat anything. The lobby bar closed at 11pm as well so we could do nothing [... read more] but unpack. There is no night life at this hotel which wasn’t a big deal for us as we went into town most nights. Another disappointment is that we had to wake up at 6 am to stand in line until 8 am to book the a la cart for dinner. It was rediculous. Other than that we still had a great vacation and enjoyed the resort.

El Cozumeleno Beach: our second trip at el cozumeleno

We were welcomed with an upgraded oceanview room with a lovely message and chocolate covered strawberries welcoming us which was very kind. The grounds were beautiful and the 2 people that stand out as wonderful customer service people were Martha at the front desk and Fredrico in the lobby. The food was average, loved the restaurant for breakfast in the morning. Having to wait in line every morning to book the alacarte was not for me, that should be changed to everyone at least once getting a [... read more] chance to have one booking during your stay without the wait. We noticed that when ordering off the menu at least 4 people took care of you and they didn't work together which meant either your food was cold after a 35-40 min. wait or that the order was wrong, this should be addressed by management . Sunscape Sabor Cozumel: Great Family Memories in Cozumel!

Sunscape Sabor was a lovely family-friendly resort with something for everyone to enjoy! The grounds were lovely, with beautiful garden and beach views. The beach was beautiful and had spectacular views along the coast. There was amazing snorkelling right off the beach and at the pier and the resort had so many activities for adults and kids alike to enjoy all day, beach or poolside. The food was good and there was plenty of variety; we especially enjoyed the Portofino Buffet, which had amazi [... read more]ng views of the beach and coast. Each day had a new theme with local and international cuisine and dishes. Between the buffet, bbq and snack stations and restaurants, you could pretty much eat whenever you wanted! The staff were friendly, courteous, and helpful and we felt welcome and comfortable asking for information or assistance. Check in with staff to know when they're around and they'll be happy to serve you! The staff also organized many fun activities for children and adults alike and our kids loved playing volleyball in the pool or at the beach, a movie night on the beach, ping pong, Mexican games, and the super fun foam party on Saturday night! The kids were well supervised during activities and this allowed us adults to have some time to ourselves while the kids were always safe and close by so we could check in on them. We had a great week overall and wish we could have stayed a bit longer; thanks to Tracy Weldon for helping us book our wonderful Mexican vacation at Sunscape Sabor; loads of fun, sun, adventure, and relaxation for the whole family to enjoy! If we ever return to Cozumel, we know where to go!

Allegro Cozumel: Understaffed and not a quality resort

We travelled with our family - 8 in total. Our room was closest to the disco. Understaffed at the restaurants; no refills of drinks. Ice cream and coffee machine always broken. Pools were cold. Staff at front desk made no extra effort. Couldn’t get into a la carte restaurants. Buffet was so full one night we had to wait 30 minutes. This was supposed to be a special vacation and I’m disappointed all the money we spent to have a week like we did :(

Allegro Cozumel: Great Resort

The food was good. There were a lot of nice activities onsite, like beach volleyball, aquagym, soccer, yoga. There was included snorkling equipment for one hour. There were a lot long chairs on the beach. The staff was nice.

Sunscape Sabor Cozumel: Moldy Rooms

We just returned on February 1st from a week stay here and definitely would not return! There was mold growing behind our bed and in our bathroom and the tub felt like you were going to fall through it not to mention the air conditioner leaking water all over! We do not require fancy or modern but draw the line at black mold growing behind your bed and. Your bathroom!!! Allegro Cozumel: Nice resort except for the rooms

The rooms at this resort are terrible. They're small, dated, not the cleanest, and our upper-floor room had a leaky roof (so did our friends'). Staff aren't quick to repair the roof, they just ask whether it's leaking on the bed (if not I guess it's not a priority), and tell you to move all electronics away from the leak. Beyond that, they attend to it when they see fit. There was a distinct smell of raw sewage in our bathroom all week. You either get a king-size bed or two double beds, and it b [... read more]ecomes very difficult to switch if you don't like what you initially get. The walls are paper thin. You can hear your neighbours conversing at normal volume even with your door and windows closed. In the evenings, the show/entertainment can be heard from almost every spot on the resort, so bring earplugs if you're a light sleeper. If the quality of the room makes or breaks your vacation, do not stay here. Nice beach and pool areas, very clean, easy to get a chair in the morning, bars and washrooms are well-located. Service is good (except for front desk). The food is great, lots of variety and good quality. I have several food-related sensitivities and I had no problem finding adequate meal items. The meal times are great - they don't hem you into a two-hour lunch window, etc. Drinks are served in reusable (not disposable) plastic cups, and there are no straws. So if this type of thing bothers you, bring your own. There's no lobby bar which is a bit odd. This resort is geared towards families with small children- there is a pool dedicated exclusively to kids (play structures, water slides, etc). It looks like a great place to bring kids. The resort is small and easy to navigate.

Grand Park Royal Cozumel: Sales Sales Sales

The resort was excellent except for the incessant sales pitches.We could not sit in the lobby or approach the stairs without being offered something "FREE" in order to attend a 120 minute sales presentation. Saying "NO" didn't help because we would get offered something else.The other staff members were all very polite and always pleasant.Food was good/room was immaculate.I would recommend this resort,,just say NO and keep walking. Gates at Toronto airport closed earlier and we missed our fligh [... read more]t. Had to pay extra to fly into Cancun and was told we had to find our way to Cozumel. Had no help from anyone. Called and left a message to the travel agency asking for help and no one called us back.This was our first trip to Mexico.The courtesy of a call back offering some assistance was all that we wanted.

Grand Park Royal Cozumel: Good Vacation but won't be back.

We stayed here 2 years ago and couldn't wait to go back. Unfortunately we were disappointed and probably won't go back. Not to say we didn't have a good time, we did but there have been a number of changes that have changed our opinions. First the good. The staff. You don't get any better service anywhere. They have a fantastic gym with equipment that works and free wifi. The snorkeling is also great right off of the beach although I would recommend water shoes. The specialty restaurants are also fantastic and worth going to. The rooms are basic, but super clean, the fridge always stocked and the air-conditioning works which is fantastic. Now for the not so good. The buffet is the smallest we have ever encountered. 2 years ago this was not a problem as the food they offered was themed up each night and very good. This year it was the same food each night......very slim pickings. No fresh cook station except a taco station most nights, no pasta station or stir fry station......just what was in the hot warmers. The other disappointment was the evening entertainment. 2 years ago it was fantastic. This year very very poor. Again, not a bad vacation, we did enjoy ourselves, but feel that the food and entertainment could be so much better.

Secrets Aura Cozumel: Amazing time!

My boyfriend and I went with two other couples after researching many resort packages. We chose the swim up pool view suite. And we were very happy. Walking out of our room into a pool and being able to slide down the waterslide to get another drink at the pool bar was an added bonus to an already amazing time. Angel the bartender at the Rendezvous was excellent, quick and always knew what kind of cocktail to make. And had a mischievous smile on his face! The hotel was beautiful. The grounds were impeccably kept. The food options were plentiful and perfectly portioned. There were a few negatives. The major negative was the pools were absolutely freezing! We are talking below 80° freezing. Having some sort of heating system in the pools would have absolutely guaranteed more people getting in them. They were painfully cold. Also, the pool by the Manatee bar needed to have more access to the bar. It would’ve been nice to have a few more bridges over the pool from different areas of the deck. The pool is laid out in such a way that if you are lounging on one side of the pool, and you need to make a trip to the bar, you have to walk literally around the whole huge pool (because it was too cold to always get in the water to shorten the distance) to get there. Also, the pool deck had terrible drainage. After it rained, the puddles by the staircase were 2 inches deep at least. Which made walking through them at night after dinner a little difficult especially when wearing dressy shoes. My shoes were soaked! I believe it would be advantageous for them to have a better drainage system on their deck to get rid of the excess water. I would definitely return here however. But next time I come back, I would definitely like a swim up ocean view room. While I loved our room by the Manatee bar, they were a little tired and needed some freshening up. But still an amazing resort and we absolutely loved our time here.

Occidental Cozumel: Amazing Resort!

We stayed at the Occidental Royal Level mid January for 1 week. We loved it. The grounds are immaculate, and sooo lush. The food was average to very good. The ala cartes were excellent. The rooms very spacious and clean. Staff always very friendly. Would highly recommend, and would definitely return.

Allegro Cozumel: Good value

We like the Allegro for the low-rise buildings, cleanliness, reliable food and its lush and well-maintained grounds. The Caribbean is warm for snorkelling and the middle pool on the grounds works great for lap swimming. A highlight was the yoga with lovely Miel three mornings a week.

Occidental Cozumel: Beautiful and intimate resort on the white sandy beach.

Even in high season, this small resort offers solitude amongst the lush greenery. The Occidental Grand is located on a beautiful beach, great for wading, swimming, and snorkeling. There's a pool right on the beach if you'd rather not swim with the curious and friendly fish in the water. The food is great, and always available. Drink service right on the beach while you relax on one of the loungers at your convenience. The resort is also a convenient location, it's so easy to take a cab from [... read more] the lobby into town, or rent a jeep and safely explore the beautiful island of Cozumel!

Grand Park Royal Cozumel: Nice Resort

Grand Park Royal is a very nice place, it may not be a newer hotel but it is extremely well kept. Everything works, hot water in shower, free safe, free in room wifi maybe not the fastest but could still stream Netflix Shows. 3 nice very clean pools,water a little cold in January but that is common across the board. The beach is a little small but the upside is great snorkeling with coral reefs and hundreds of fish to see. This was not a problem for us cause we knew the beach was small and planned to do our walking on a nice safe sidewalk by the ocean going to the town. Well located to do many excursions and only a 15 - 20 min cab ride from the airport. We would come again mainly for the great staff that made it a great vacation for us. Thank you very much 😊

Allegro Cozumel: Decent value

Allegro is a great choice for families with young children. The entire resort is kept spotlessly clean, the food is good, and the rooms are comfortable. However, the doors between rooms cause serious noise transmission. Overall this is a decent choice for the price.
