Barcelo Ixtapa: Good resort

Overall clean resort with friendly staff. They do need to work on the sushi bar. It was not a good experience. I liked that they would exchange dollars (either US or Canadian) into pesos at a competitive rate.

Azul Ixtapa Resort: Very nice resort

Very well managed and clean. It would be a good place for families with little kids who want to keep them away from local attractions. Beach is nice with lots for kids to do. Lots of kids there on weekends. Very noisy. The toilet in the room is up on a 9" step that I found hard to climb up in the mornings. Maybe seniors could be put in rooms with out that feature. All rooms have an ocean view, which I thought meant a balcony, however balconies cost extra $30 per night. A few miles from the main  [... read more]town, long bus trips to any tours. Taxi drivers drive very fast and can be scary. Not much English. We had it explained to us by guides and on notices in the buses many times that locals work for less than $5 per day and therefore we should tip. Felt a little excessive.

Hotel Emporio Ixtapa: Imperial let down

While the staff did their part to keep the common areas clean, that was the extent I witnessed as far as customer service. Maybe the fact I was staying as a single had a bearing on this, but ate all my meals mostly on the resort and had a waiter ask me about a drink only once. I got offered coffee once for breakfast during the entire week. Also the all-inclusive bracelet was only good until 11 pm for drinks at the bar. After that I was forced to pay, additionally though the package indicated roo [... read more]m service was included I was charged for it and only after a lengthy discussion was the charge removed. The same went for water as my mini bar was not open my first day and I had to take water from the "replenish stock" pile in the room and they tried to charge me for that. The food itself was bearable in taste but extremely generic, everything was meat in a sauce..all done in roasting pans. Mostly flavorless, and the line-ups for the griddle got huge because there was only a single cook top to service the entire restaurant..similar issues with the lobby bar, one single bartender to serve the entire crowd..10 minute waits at the bar for a drink. In short, will not recommend and will not return. Service poor, food acceptable but nothing to tall about. Biggest disappointment I could have imagined based off previous experience in mexico.

Hotel Emporio Ixtapa: Awesome stay

Loved the beach, free bikes to use on an awesome 10 klm bike path through jungle, friendly staff, food always good, rode city buses - safe and so convenient, ixtapa island snorkeling was amazing!! Quiet laid-back small resort ... Would definitey return.

Azul Ixtapa Resort: Disappointing

I had a wonderful view from my room, although the rooms have no ceiling fans and was not really clean. The only day I saw a wet mop use was the day before I left. I was there for a week and not once saw anyone clean the railing on the escalator The buffet was very good although no variety Sunwing flight was excellent, but did have a very rude flight attendant I travel twice a year and have for the past 30 years and will be travelling for another 10 ( God willing) and I think this is the most neg [... read more]ative review I've posted fior sure. Hotel Emporio Ixtapa: Hotel Emporio

This is a nice small resort. We were there the last week of Jan 2015. The rooms are small but clean. It can be noisy from the parties across the street if you are on the mountain view side. So bring ear plugs or invest another $25 a night for ocean view rooms. The service is good at the bars and buffet but if you want a wake up call to go fishing ,forget it.. The beach barbecue is good though and you get 2 every week included in your all inclusive. We went to dinner across the street as there are lots of good places to eat there, The beach is very nice and the pool is nice to but you have to watch out for the T shirt police as your not allowed to wear them in the pool.

Hotel Emporio Ixtapa: Perfect resort

The staff , food and room were all outstanding. I wish I would have stayed longer. The locals, town, stores and service was great . With the beach , pool, and restaurant & bars so close - made it perfect to get some Sand ,Sun and Suds. I was treated like a king

Azul Ixtapa Grand Resort: great resort

We stayed at Azul Ixtapa Jan I5 -22 -15. What a great resort staff both at the front desk and the rest of the resort went over and above to help us out. the food was very good with lots of selection both with Mexican and international dishes. The beach was great ,not much surf which was good for some of our party that couldn't swim.People selling stuff on the beach all respected the (no gracias) with out hesitation and were very helpfull when we wished to purchase items.The crocs and wildlife at [... read more] the ecological park were well looked after and a great attraction for everyone.All in all this is one of the best all around resorts we have visited, this is our 6th trip to mexico.

Barcelo Ixtapa: Fantastic vacation

This is a people friendly, comfortable hotel. Very clean and it has just been renovated. The buffet food was very good as they have a great selection of food from fish to pasta and everything in between. Every person on staff are friendly and eager to help in any way. Two big pools and a beach that goes for miles, dolphins and whales can be seen from your balcony. Yes i said Whales , I could not believe my eyes! The water is very warm and great for boogie boards. Sunscape Dorado Pacifico: Very friendly clean resort.

The resort is always clean, the staff are very friendly and helpful. The only suggestion I could offer, is that the al a carte restaurants could open earlier, and their should be more options every night. Pleased to note, that the time share people did not pester us, allowing us to enjoy our vacation.

Hotel Emporio Ixtapa: Don't Buy All-Inclusive!

This a very average hotel, more of a 3 star than a 4 star. PROS: Service - The service is excellent - all the staff do a great job of looking after their guests and keeping the hotel and grounds clean. Location - This hotel is located in the heart of Ixtapa directly across the street from many shops and restaurants with a bus stop right out front. The beach is absolutely beautiful, great waves, fine sand with no rocks or seaweed. Bikes - There are bikes available (free of charge but not advertis [... read more]ed) and I highly recommend the fabulous bike path through the jungle up to Playa Linda. CONS: Rooms - The rooms are basic and bit dated but they are clean. There were very few electrical plugs available for charging phones/tablets so we had to take turns. Showers had adequate hot water but no bathtub. Senor Frogs and the hotel next door were noisy at night so we had to keep the sliding door shut. Food - The food is rather basic. We bought the breakfast only and we were very glad that we didn't buy all the meals because the selection was very limited and repetitive. There are many restaurants within a couple blocks offering seafood, Mexican food, pasta and pizza. You will get far more variety and value for your money by purchasing the breakfast only or no-meal plan. SUMMARY - To sum up, I would stay at this hotel again if it is offered at a good price. However, if there is only minimal price difference to other hotels, I would prefer to stay somewhere else.

Las Brisas Ixtapa: Las Brisas Ixtapa

The Las Brisas Ixtapa was very nice but it was interesting that even though we paid for all inclusive they did things much differently than we were used to for all inclusive. You only had buffets for breakfast every day and Saturday and Monday nights. Other than that you ordered off a menu. You didn't wear a wrist band and had to sign a chit for everything you ordered. There were items on the menu that you had to pay extra for. In the A la Carte restaurants there were many items not included in  [... read more]"the plan"! We had to pay cash for lunch before we left as you get lunch the day you arrive and only breakfast on the day you leave. This does not make much sense since we didn't get in and settled in time for lunch when arrived and had to wait until 2pm to be picked up to go to the airport. The staff was awesome and meals were good. The other thing is this hotel has feather pillows and feather ticks on the bed. Not so good if you are allergic to feathers. The West Jet rep we had down there was reasonably helpful but told us we should have been able to have lunch before we left. All in all it was a good place to stay.

Hotel Emporio Ixtapa: Wonderful trip!

This was our first trip to Ixtapa. The beach was gorgeous. We really enjoyed our stay.we spent a week at the Emporio January 11 to January 18, 2015. The staff were great. Our room was on 6 floor, clean and everything in great condition. upon arrival and to the day we left, it was a great stay. We always had hot water, internet and never an issue with anything else. Walk around, it is a safe and there are a great restaurants around. We did a day trip to ixtapa island and day trip to playa la Ropa and Las Gatas beach. It was amazing. Overall this resort is well worth it's money. Highly recommended.

Sunscape Dorado Pacifico: great family spot

hotel was clean, staff were wonderful and lots to do for adults, kids and families. food was good, but the lunch and evening buffets were at odd times. a room near the disco would be quite loud. we would go again.

Azul Ixtapa Grand Resort: We loved it!

The rooms, pools and service were awesome. There isn't much of a beach, but the infiniy pool overlooking the ocean is a nice compromise. The buffet for breakfast is great with lots of fruit and an omelet station. However it is rather limited for lunch and dinner unless you like heavy foods. I would have like more grilled fish and more fresh veggies for salads as they were very limited. The ala cart restaurants were wonderful.

Azul Ixtapa Grand Resort: Relaxing Resort

Ala cart food was very good however we found the buffet food to be cold and needing more choices. The infinity pool is great, cold getting in but refreshing, beach was small but nice and the rooms are amazing.

Villa Mexicana: A pleasant relaxing place

A well-kept hotel, with pleasant efficient staff. The restaurant has a good menu, a little over-priced, but all of Playa la Ropa is overpriced - I enjoyed the short walk into town where everything is a better value, and there is more to see and do. The tragedy of this city, and I suspect, most of Mexico, is that the tap water is unsafe to drink, so everyone has to drink water out of plastic, which is expensive, and there is plastic garbage everywhere (no recycling) For this reason, I prefer Cuba [... read more].

Fontan Ixtapa: nice resort

great selection of food, very nice people, older rooms but nice and clean. fun time there ,pool and deck are nice and lots of room. right on the beach. also this is one of the first hotels, so the garden and grasses are gorgeous. and it has a great style

Posada Real Ixtapa: Excellent value for the dollar

Not a big resort which is exactly what we were looking for. Only a buffet, but the food was varied daily and was fresh and delicious. Service was excellent and staff friendly and very accommodating. Room was average, always clean, however a balcony would be nice. Walking distance to a number of restaurants and shopping. Found an excellent North American style bar (Generals), watched a Leaf game and felt right at home. New favourite Mexico destination.

Azul Ixtapa Grand Resort: Got beat up at disco in resort on my birthday

Hotel was nice and the food was good. There were lots of very friendly families there to talk to. I love to swim and the pools were very nice. The staff didn't speak much English at all. They told me they used to be trained to speak English but the hotel stopped doing it. Hard to communicate with staff unless they were management. Getting punched in the back of the head and then 2 guy's punching me from all angles as i pleaded for them to stop and for help got me nowhere except another 20 second [... read more]s of punches. I did nothing wrong and still don't even know why i was beat up. I am the most friendliest non violent person. I ended up with a mild concussion and the next day was given the option to change hotels to Azul Ixtapa and leave the Grand which was much nicer. My new room unfortunately was right under one of the bar areas which was extremely loud. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. Trip Central and Sunwing were great tho.
