Grand Decameron Panama: Great customer service

We just returned from our vacation and during our time My mom had some health issues - the resort and its staff went above and beyond to accommodate her physical needs. All members of the staff were friendly helpful and accommodating. This is a huge resort and isn’t an easy place to navigate if you have mobility issues. Riu Playa Blanca: Great staff! Good food! Well kept resort.

We enjoyed the resort. It is just the right size to not be overwhelmed and they have friendly staff always greeting you with a smile. The food and buffers are great. The rooms kept clean and always comfortable.

Dreams Playa Bonita Panama: Not a Dreams Calibre Resort

This resort has a lot of work to do to make it a Dreams calibre resort. Although the property is lovely and outside very well maintained the inside is not so great. Examples; rooms are kept clean on the surface but there is mold, dirt in the corners and under sinks, behind toilets and the clothe furnishing are rather stained and old. The staff are on the most part very friendly and helpful but there is clearly not enough of them to meet the demands of this very busy resort. We are very seasoned travellers and not too hard to please but these are basic things that need to be addressed. The thing lacking most is in the area of food. We are not overly picky but the food here was a huge problem!! Although the staff try hard they have not been taught proper food preparation.Examples; foods cooked in front of you like the omelet and pasta bar and burger grills were not always cooked thoroughly and due to the language barrier when you tried to explain to cook, things needed to cook a littler longer they did not understand and just went ahead and plated your under cooked food. The food at the buffets was always luke warm or cold and they were always running out of the basics and not replenishing these items unless asked to by multiple guests. The ala cart restaurants were better. Overall we had a fair stay here and glad we did not pay more than we did. The folks that paid more were far more unhappy; as this resort is advertised as a Dreams 4 star resort and I would struggle to give it a 3 star.

Dreams Playa Bonita Panama: disappointed

The grounds of this hotel are beautiful and well kept, there's not enough chairs outside and if you don't get up at 6am you're out of luck because all the chairs are reserved with towels, this is supposed to be monitored but its not. The preferred pool is not monitored either and anyone can just come in and use it which I witnessed being done. The entertainment is terrib [... read more]le for the money I spent at this resort there's usually really good shows everynight at a theatre, this resort had 4 shows out of the 7 nights which started at 8:30 and ended at 9 pm and then there was nothing to do until the disco opened at 11:30 . Now lets talk about the food , the buffets are half the size of any other resort that I've been to including other dreams ,very little selection, slow on filling empty containers, food was cold. Tried the a la carte's and it was hit and miss first night I had tuna that was dried out, 2 nd night I had spaghetti that was as if it was reheated, 3rd night ordered steak medium done got it very very rare. I booked this Dreams based on one that I had been to in Mexico and am very disappointed , hate to say this but I will not book at a dreams ever again. Every resort has a few quirks which I expect but this one was extremely disappointing and i'd be scared to spend that kind of money again and get a resort like this . This is the first time I ever felt I had to right a review come on guys this was totally unacceptable I only get to travel once a year and am sorry to say I wasted my money

Grand Decameron Panama: Not your typical quiet getaway resort

This hotel did many things right...beach, pools, food, etc. BUT, every night the disco blasted out very loud music from 11 pm to 3 am. Everyone complained, got the same answer...we have to have it because we advertise it. Despite the fact that there was no one there. Definitely a consideration if you like quiet and enjoy your sleep.

Grand Decameron Panama: Far from an amasing resort

1 - No Bathroom towels on many days. 2 - Rooms cleaned one day by 11am and then for several days not until late in the afternoon. One day we came back to the room at 4:30pm, the room was not done so at 5:30pm my wife made the beds and tidy up. The maid came in 10 minutes later saw the beds made and left. 3 - Numerous days they had no clean beach towels. 4 - Very disappointed to find out we were sold a vacation package telling us of all the areas we could use only to find out when we arrived t [... read more]hat we could not use the complete facility as one area had been delegated for person with silver, gold or platinum wrist bands. 5 - One pool was used every day for a group of vacationer's from France. 6 - Staff who do not speak the English language. If Air Transat wants to bring more people from Canada, then the staff need to at least speak some English. 7 - My wife is allergic to Garlic and wears a medic alert bracelet. We took the time before going to have her allergies translated to Spanish as we have done on numerous vacations in the past only to be told by staff at the buffet's when handed the piece on paper with the translation, NO. End of conversation. At the a la cartes, was even better. In our group was a couple who have been going to this resort fro 10 years and one of the spoke Spanish well enough for the staff to understand. They still could not get one meal for my correct. The most incompetent people I have ever come across. 8 - If this resort only wishes to cater to Colombians then so be it but if yourselves and Air Transat are going to offer and push this resort then the resort's management needs to seriously bring the level of service much higher. This resort is not even a 2 in my mind. 9 - On 2 different days there was no hot water from before 7am and 5:30pm 10 - Our friends were very embarrassed as they have talked up this place for years and to have this service they were also not pleased. Especially since they spend 6 weeks there in the winter. I know for a fact that the 3 couples we were with were not happy with the resort, the food and the service especially with what happen everyday with my wife. We would never recommend this resort to anyone and have been telling our friends who have asked. For the amount we paid, it certainly was not worth it

Riu Playa Blanca: Great place to enjoy the sun

Food was very good and weather was great. Swim up bar staff were awesome.. you can take long walks on the beach at low tide . Beach vendors very friendly and no pressure to buy. You can rent Seg-Ways on the beach for $20 per hr......

Grand Decameron Panama: Beautiful Resort

This was our first visit to a resort so we didn't know what to expect. It is a very clean & well manicured resort. The employees are friendly & very helpful. It holds a lot of people but doesn't feel crowded. There are a variety of swimming pools to choose from, and bars, and restaurants. There was a good variety of food, buffets & served meals. The beach was fabulous. December to April is the dry season & the weather is predicably sunny and 32 degrees C.

Westin Playa Bonita: Great Resort

Very satisfied with this hotel. Wasn't the greatest for laying on the beach/swimming in the ocean (low tide), but multiple pools with sufficient seating made up for it. The resort is very well maintained, facilities are nice and clean, rooms were spacious, and the food at both the buffet and a la carte restaurants were excellent. The view of ships lining up in the ocean for the Panama Canal was also pretty spectacular.

Grand Decameron Panama: Resort was ok!

The resort itself wasn't great. Towels and getting bottled water was difficult. They do not stock fridge with drinks and you must pay $3 a day for the safe. The rooms were nothing special but very clean. The staff is mostly pleasant however do not understand any English or French. The food was very good and the beach was very nice. The pools are clean and very nice also. I have mixed emotions of the resort as it has a nice feeling to it and we still had a very nice time.

Riu Playa Blanca was a wonderful stay and we would definitely return. The staff were courteous, prompt and helpful. The room was kept immaculate. The grounds were well manicured. The beach was awesome....long stretch to walk.

Grand Decameron Panama: The Decameron

We spent one week at the resort and thoroughly enjoyed it for the most part. Our only complaint was the quality of the food at the specialty restaurants. The steak was uneatable due to it's toughness while the chicken in another restaurant was not cooked properly. All the salads were excellent and plenty were available The staff were excellent and maintained a cheerful and helpful attitude at all times. The grounds were in excellent shape despite the dry weather and kept very clean .

Our trip was awesome. Wonderful food, fantastic weather and clean resort. Although, I did not find the staff very friendly. I do consider myself a respectful smoker but I was not happy to find out that there was smoking only on beach. This resort did not have service on beach or at pool area.

We have been to quite a few all inclusive resorts. This is a BIG resort. It is older. Rooms are big and clean. For this menopausal girl, Panama was hot, hot, hot! Not much reprieve from the heat unless you are in the pool or your room. If you want to burn off the calories you are taking in eating and drinking, this is the place. There are some benefits we enjoyed the private pool and our own bartender ANDRES. The private beach restaurant Kontiki, NOEL and the other server (older with long hair, can't remember her name) were great! You must go down 51 stairs to get to the buffet from my room or go down a long steep road. The food was good but not the best we ever had at a resort. Cab ride to the airport was $5. We rented a van with a driver to go to Panama city for $130, and made up our own schedule! Great long beach to walk! THE REVIEWS MADE ME NERVOUS BUT ALL IN ALL NOT A BAD RESORT THE ROOMS NEED A LITTLE UPDATING.

Ice machine was not working for 4 out of the 7 days we were there. The dress drawer had a mouldy smell. The food and drinks were great the grounds were great. The beach had a lot of pooh because of the horse back riding. Over all we had a good vacation

Grand Decameron Panama: Fair

As a 4 to 5 star resort we were unhappy to see our room to have an empty fridge and no coffee maker. Then we had to pay 30.00 US for a safe key. Every 4 + resort we've been to included these in the package. Stairs.... the resort is on a hill therefore plenty of stairs to climb. 90 steps up and down from our room multiple times a day. I guess its a good workout but I booked to relax and rest my bones. Food was good. Fruit was the best we've had! Staff were uncommunicative. None spoke a lick of En [... read more]glish. Riu Playa Blanca: Another great vacation!!

We loved the resort. Great food, rooms are great, weather was hot! We would definitely recommend this resort and hopefully come back again. Very windy while we were there, windy enough to blow the sand everywhere. Pools were great except for the swim up pool bar, water was cloudy every day but still full of people.

The RIU Playa Blanca was clean and nice. The staff was friendly. Nice beach with brown and black sand. Excellent wifi service. The resort night entertainment was a bit lacking. The beach had great souvenirs at amazing prices, the resort gift shop surprisingly did too. Did a few excursions through Sunwing which were okay. Was hoping to see wildlife at the Canopy at Anton Valley. The Panamome tour was okay, the town was filled with cheap American clothing. Had a great time and would return again [... read more].

Riu Playa Blanca: Loved the resort

Very clean, rooms were very large and comfortable. Food was good, the Italian restaurant was excellent. The location is not great if you are planning an excursion as they are at least 2 hours away. If you are looking for a place to go and wind down this is the spot. I cannot say enough good things about the staff, very friendly and accommodating.

Grand Decameron Panama: Great resort

With only 5 minute bus ride to resort, good reception and great selection of food. Excellant kept landscaping.service was good, pools/slides amazing. Great beach and so much to do. Not understanding any complaints. We went on 2 excursions, both exceeded expections. Not sure why there are complaints about this resort. Nothing but positive things to say...Definitely plan to return!
