Perfect place to take someone who has doubts about Cuba! The hotel is beautiful , the rooms are clean and stylish! The beach is incredible, food is 9/10 and I'm a very picky eater! Overall great place

Relaxing Week at the Pestana

We just returned from our vacation October 2nd to 9th. We always travel during off-season to save money and enjoy the Caribbean. The first two days our beach was washed out due to Hurricane Joaquin. By day 3 the water had receded and they racked the beach and all was well. We had amazing weather the whole week. The rooms are plain but are clean and have everything you need. I want to give a big shout out to the following staff, Pinky at the towel hut, Paul from the entertainment crew and the lovely bar maid at the main bar. You made us feel welcome and appreciated. Downside of our vacation - FOOD!! Due to it being off season there was not a lot of variety and a lot of items were recycled from meal to meal. We did go to the Portuguese and Italian a la carte and they were both good. We ran into two different couples who had been there in December (high-season) and said the food was great. Locals!! We had quite a few locals at the resort the week we were there. They were treated much better than us and were very pushy in the restaurants. They also did not watch their children with one little boy standing at the side of the pool and peeing in it. Overall I would say this is good value for the price point we paid and did enjoy our week at the Pestana

Nice Resort.... Quiet!

This was my 27th Caribbean vacation, 12th to Cuba. The beach was amazing... the best :-) The food was not great... and I like everything. Only 2 places I can think of where I could actually say that the food wasn't great, and this is one of them. Did it ruin my vacation? Absolutely not!! :-) The people were great, the beach was great, it was sunny and I had a cold drink in my hands. :-) For a 2 year old hotel, the rooms were showing signs of deterioration. It was clean and I got to stare at the ocean every day. If you go expecting a 3 or 3-1/2 star .... Cuba style ..... you won't be disappointed. I wouldn't go back to this hotel again or recommend it because I know of several hotels that top this one for the same price! GREAT beach!!!!!!! Amazing!!!!!

Amazing Trip

The trip was amazing from start to finish easy flights great greeting upon arrival and excellent baggage service to our room I think the bags were quicker then we were. the resort was very clean no plastic cups laying everywhere. the pool area was great as well as an amazing beach. The hotel bars were great excellent cappuccino excellent service from the wait staff. Resort ok

Beautiful clear water white sand beach. Can snorkel in shallow water. Resort has room for improvement. Resort staff are friendly. Food is not that great & very salty. No non motorized acticities available.

Absolutely amazing family resort

The Pestana hotel was amazing. Friendliest of staff, beautiful grounds, amazing beach, huge pool and the food was good!!! The Transat rep was welcoming and couldn't do enough for us. This is a family resort. If u are looking to party this is not the hotel for you. Can't wait to go back.

Pestana Cayo Coco -the good and the bad

Pestana: the Good and the Bad. This property is located an easy 15 minutes from the Cayo Coco airport and it has a beautiful beach and nice buildings. The Junior suite we had was neat, clean. and roomy The grounds are tidy and the hotel staff are all friendly. The pool is split into two halves --kids/adults. Our e-mail request for a ground floor unit with a king bed was never acknowledged , but it WAS honoured. The buffets have plenty of food of various types and we sampled two of the ala carte [... read more] restaurants ( Cuban and Italian) both fairly good. The resort's potential is limited by the " shaky" Cuban infrastructure. Examples : 1. no water after dinner on the first night-so we unable to shower that evening. The water was back on late the next morning but the power was off when we awoke so we couldn't see in the bathroom to shower/shave etc. ! -- Power restored only at 2:30 pm. 2. The power outage apparently shut down the laundry so no pool towels were available until the fifth day of our stay. The towels provided each guest in the room consisted of only one medium sized bath towel and one face cloth per person so you can imagine making those two pieces of linen serve your needs for the beach, the bathroom and the pool. The only way to get a clean towel was to give up one dirty one so you couldn't have more than the two pieces issued ( plus a beach towel -- had any been available !! ) . Ridiculous.! 3. Internet access via purchased access card ( 2 pesos for 1 hour ) was very unreliable and only usable when within 75' of the lobby desk. If one lost the connection while surfing or e-mailing, you couldn't sign off so the provider "burned" the balance of your hour! 4. Tried to make coffee in our room on our second morning- no coffee had been left. Had coffee sent in that day but next morning we found that the coffeemaker didn't work anyway. Got a new machine that day on on our fourth morning finally had coffee in our room. The good versus the bad. Too bad such a great resort is so hampered by inefficient operations. Would I go back to Cuba ?? My answer is that it would certainly be too cold there because by the time I considered returning, H--- would have frozen over. There are hundreds of resorts in the Caribbean ( Antigua, St. Maarten, St. Lucia etc,) where one wouldn't have all those hassles to contend with.

Amazing and relaxing!

Everything from the check in to check out was excellent. The only thing was water wasn't stocked so we asked at the front, and we were stocked from then on but no drinks in the fridge. Food was great and room was excellent. Amazing and relaxing! The beach was amazing and very clean. Pools were very cleaned too. People working there were very friendly if you tip them food. Overall worth the money

I took my parents, kids and girlfriend - The rooms are clean and the facilities are decent. The beach is perfect with the right amount of sand and some coral to keep the kids interested. Small resort so endless walking is not an issue. The key to this resort is the entertainment team. The evening shows are amazing (9 out of 10) - Food was typical of most Cuban resorts, bars are really slow to serve and the water sports (hobby cats) staff are rude. If the deal is right.. take this vacation!

Great experience

Hotel was clean, quality of food was good but not great but always plentiful. Swimming pool was large and suitable for both adults and children, however, the tiles are coming off posing risk of cutting your feet. Stayed in a large suite, highly recommend if travelling with little kids. Overall, a great vacation!

Just got back from Pestana Cayo Coco, my husband and I were there with our 6 year old son for 7 nights and here is my experience: Hotel Grounds/ Amenities the hotel advertises that it has Childcare centre and kids activities on site but everytime we went by the childcare centre, it was closed and absolutly no acivities for the kids anywhere else. The pools were ok and the beach was georgous but it was very disspointing to get up early every morning (around 6am) only to find that the pool lounge [... read more]rs and beach chairs have already been "reserved" by people who would leave their towels behind from the night before (i found it a bit unfair since it should be a first come first serve from early morning on and people should not be allowed to reserve the loungers from the night before). Please also be advised that is absolutly no air conditioning or ceiling fans in the lobby, stage area, reservation desk etc. It was very very hot and unbearble at times. Dining We are not picky eaters and we have been to Cuba many times so we know what we were expecting. The food in Cuba is very bland so we took our mustard, relish, ketchep, and hotsauce. Buffet Dining Room was ok (Fish was the main dish very day), but you can always find something there to eat. Italian A La Carte was good but not great, stay away for the Portugese and Cuban A La Carte, it was very dissapointing and we had to wait a long time to get served. We just hung around the beach everyday and had fried beach from the fish hut on the beach, it was delicious. Also would have hamburgers and fries from the Snack bar which kept us going. Rooms Our maid changed our towels only once during our stay and the sheets were not changed at all. Twice I had to call the HouseKeeping and request new towels. I know people in Cuba are very hard working so I didn't mind and still gave her tips and gifts everyday. We tipped everyone that worked there, bar guys, dining room waitresses, maids etc. Entertainment We watched for 3 nights and noticed that it was same people doing the same dances, performances so we didn't bother going for the rest of the evenings. Plus it was way too hot around the main stage area. I am not sure if i will return to Pestana Cayo Coco!!!

Great resort

Pestana was a great resort ..the people and the food and the grounds were great..everything was pretty close together so it didn't take long to walk somewhere The rooms were very clean and also restocked everyday! The beach was the best one rather then the two resorts beside Pestana ..overall the resort was great and I really enjoyed my time there ! Very relaxing (:

not bad new hotel. good for the money.nice beaches and ocean. food was ok. waiting staff was slow. entertment so so. nice palms and green space. pools ok for kids. a lot of chairs on beach and pool. not a lot of schade around pool

Best stay in Cuba

I recently took my 3 young children to Pestana Cayo Coco .June 25- July 2 Ihave been to Cuba over a dozen times and I believe this was the best resort . Staff was great food was good room was clean bed comfortable and hot powerful showers. The pool is perfect for young kids and a separate deeper pool with bar for adults. My only suggestion is to wear watershoes in the pool for the kids as the tiles did scratch up their feet. Only complaint for the resort is that the beach is Rocky.

Just OK

Resort was announced as new, only 2 years old. Unfortunately it does not look like this... It is clean but seems like was made using extremely cheep materials and very low quality work. And this terrible smell of mold in the rooms... we had to change our first room because of this. Food was like in most hotels in Cuba,nothing special. Pool is nice, but I do not get, how come pool in new hotel is already missing so many tiles.....cheep quality..... Quiet relaxing

The grounds is fairly clean... the staff is wonderful except for the ladies at the front desk. I've been to Cuba many times to multiple resorts... this is the first time I noticed attitude. The Boss walks around the ground and seems heavily involved as he spends time all over the grounds. The rooms are very clean. The entertainment is truly wonderful. No waiting in line for anything. The main 24 hr bar should be moved to the entertainment section bar because that looks way classier. The beach is fantastic and the disco is 5 min away but unfortunately you have to pay 10 pesos to enter. Pestana cayo coco is a great place to relax. Enjoy friends

Overall good trip

Beach was nice, hotel was standard, food was typical. Nothing really exceptional about the hotel. The weather was rainy but we still had fun. Ocean was warm and pool as well. Newer hotel but still needs to improve on the maintenance and grounds up keep. Cayo coco beaches are beautiful, that's why I went. Quick ride from airport to hotel.

Amazing Resort

Arrived on our first trip to Cuba mid April 2015. First of all thumbs up to Can Jet for a Champagne Breakfast at 7:30 AM and a good return trip. We arrived in Cuba at about 10:20 AM and trip from Airport to Pestana Resort is only 15 Minutes. At check in, the room was not ready until about 3:00 PM which was not a big problem as we got a change of clothes and swim wear. Our luggage was secured in a locked room. Had lunch at the beach Buffet Restaurant which is a kind of open air building. The main Buffet Restaurant is extra big with a variety of different foods which was very tasty. Checked into our room at 2:45 PM with a balcony and ocean view. Room and washroom was clean with lots of hot water and friendly maids. Pestana Resort is new and quiet nice with lots of smiling workers. On the negative side it needs some work on landscaping. We did a trip to Moron (Moran) which included a alligator farm, sugar cane factory, lunch at a farm and a fantastic cameraman ride and all for 75 pesos. Over all food, drinks and friendly staff were very good.. Just a reminder bring along lots of tips. By the way a Big Thumbs Up to the Medical Staff. My wife picked up a bug and got sick on Monday at about 11:00 PM. I went to the front desk at 3:00 AM and a Doctor was at our door at 3:10 AM. A couple of days later she was back in the ocean swimming.

Excellent Resort!

The resort was very clean and the staff very friendly and helpful. We very much enjoyed the pool and beach areas, as well as the lounge and evening entertainment. The food was also very good. The beach had rocky spots but overall good.

What a joy!

The resort still has a newness. Facilities are attractive and in good repair. The food was really good and had something for everyone, even vegetarians! We spent most of our time on the beautiful sandy beach with many lounges available, shade or sun. The best was the staff - friendly, helpful, playful, working together like a family,
