Pullman Cayo Coco

For Cuba standards it was above par. The initial view of the ocean from the lobby was beautiful. The people were friendly and helpful. Room with partial ocean view was very nice. Although the resort is fairly new, we noticed tiles off in the pool. The rooms were clean and beds were comfortable with fluffy body length pillows. The food was fabulous. One waiter Pedro was amazing at making drinks and service. Although it is an all inclusive the only give you two beer in your fridge and it was Buck [... read more]anarro which we do not like, and the bars ran out of Crystal so we were stuck. No name pop just two in the fridge I prefer diet coke. Takes a bit to get a drink at the bar. A little slow. The entertainment was amazing, non stop in the lobby and by the pool !

Really Nice Resort

Very impressive front lobby with an ocean view. Check in very quick with friendly staff. Room wasn't ready so bags were left in lobby area and watched by security while we got a drink from the bar and booked our a la carte restaurant choices. Once room was ready shuttled over to bungalow. Room was spacious and tidy. Bathroom counters looked like a quick wipe and smeared whatever was there before all over vanity. Pullman - Nice smallish resort - very easy to navigate.

This is a relatively new resort and the rooms are very nice and spacious as are the balconies. From what I could see, there is not a bad room to be had and the condo buildings are only 3 floors so very easy to navigate. The grounds are still a little premature, but were in good shape...in a couple of years, it will be amazingly beautiful with mature plants/trees. Again, I will mention the resort is smallish with around 200 rooms, so you get to know that staff pretty quickly. Buffet was good and a la carte meals were really good. The only drawback I would mention is that room housekeeping lacked a bit - 2 days great, 2 days looked like our room hadn't even been swept, much less washed and then good again. Free bikes available and they're in great shape, lots of beach and poolside activities. All in all, no complaints.

Beautiful resort!

The Pullman Cayo Coco Resort was a very clean, spacious resort. It was a newer resort with an amazing view of the Atlantic Ocean, The Buffet was well organized and the food was better than I expected. The A La Csrt restaurants was very good. Especially the Asian:) The people at the resort were very friendly and accommodating..

Perfect Getaway with a large family

This resort was one of the nicest all inclusives that I have been to. We've travelled to Mexico, Jamaica, Dominican, Bahamas and Barbados! The food was great and the service was as well. We came with a group of 12 (ages 10 months to 65) and each one of us loved it. We are already planning our next trip there. Definitely recommend this hotel.

Very nice resort!

This resort is very nice...the view when you come in the lobby is breath taken....you see the ocean from that angle! The staff was helpful and very professional. Our room was always clean! Food was also very good! a nice family resort!

Beautiful Scenic Resort

The resort was clean and well maintained. The food was better than expected for Cuba - I actually looked forward to my lunch every day at their BBQ restaurant. The bar tenders were always ready to serve and got to know you, so they were always ready for refills. Our rooms were cleaned well everyday. The service was generally pretty good, with a few servers at the buffet that didn't look overly happy to be there. But other than those few, the service was great. Great pool entertainment, and e [... read more]vening shows. Its not a huge resort, so you never felt overwhelmed by other people. We always had our space by the pool and on the beach. We never waited more than 3 minutes in line for food. It was also nice to see the ocean from the infinity pool, and was a very short walk from the pool area to the ocean. (1 minute) I loved the short 10 min. bus ride to and from airport. First ones off, last to be picked up.

Nice resort, great views, a few minor issues

Overall we enjoyed our stay at the Pullman, and it is a good resort for Cuba. The view of the ocean from the lobby and from the pools themselves are great. It's location is perfect, it's at the end of the row with a large beach, and has just a nature area to the one side with another resort on the other. Many of the staff were very friendly, helpful and professional. Omelio at the pool bar gave us great service all week, be sure to seek him out! Many of the staff speak very fluent English  [... read more]and French, more so than I even expect visiting a foreign country. The front desk staff were always very helpful. Some of the staff weren't as helpful and the odd one was a bit rude. One of the bartenders insulted a member of our group for no apparent reason. Overall the staff was friendly though. For food, overall for the reputation Cuba has for food it was above our expectations. The A la Carte restaurants were quite good, our group enjoyed all three, the French restaurant was the best. The buffet had some good food stations where pasta, pizza, eggs etc. were made fresh to order, and the staff running them were very friendly and made sure you got what you wanted. The rest of the buffet wasn't the greatest variety. For example with the sliced meat there was ham, ham... and well.. ham. It's also the exact same set of food each meal all week. The food was generally warm but sometimes a bit cooler than it should be, and the ice cream quickly melted to a slurry by the end of every meal. For seating it was often difficult to find a clean table that was set up, there pretty much always was an empty table but it could take a while for a server to bring you cutlery etc. There is a BBQ buffet by the pools for lunch each day, you could get a custom made stir fry, fresh BBQ'd meat etc. and our group looked forward to it each day. There's a snack bar to one side that serves hot dogs, hamburgers and sandwiches when the other restaurants are closed. During lunch you could never quite figure out what the snack bar had as you often got told no not now for stuff they'd have all the rest of the day, bluntly so at times. It was a bit confusing but there was plenty of food to choose from otherwise. The pools were fantastic. They were clean, never crowded, lots of sun and shaded areas to sit, the pool bar was nearby with service brought to your chairs, it was where we spent most of the time. The beach is very large, with lots of huts for shade. The bars were well stocked with good service and the lobby bar was open 24/7. The coffee at the lobby bar in the morning was really good (far better than the buffet coffee which was a bit watered down). One odd note, though a person was there for fresh towels at 9am every day, there were never any towels until 11am or so. The rooms were nicely decorated, there was TV with a couple English channels as well as other international languages. They were clean, we did have some ants but a bit of bug spray deterred them from coming back. We did have a lot of issues with our toilet not flushing, we basically had to call every morning for it to be fixed. Someone would be there and fix it quickly, but by the next day it wouldn't work again. Other guests also mentioned the toilets didn't work well. The shower was a large standup glass one with a tub area as well, and the counter had lots of space. I highly recommend the "Spectacular" excursion where you visit Ciego de Avila and Moron, it was great to see the actual country of Cuba, with a great drive through the countryside and lots of activities including a crocodile farm and a boat ride. Overall we enjoyed our stay but I don't think we'd rush back for a second visit. I would recommend it as a good option for Cuba.

Fun times!

It's been a few years since I've been to Cuba and I must say I was pleasantly surprised, they've come a long way. The resort is newer very nice modern decor. Beautiful view of the beach from the lobby. Rooms are nice and comfortable. Beach and pools are gorgeous with plenty of chairs. Food was surprisingly good for Cuba. They could step up the cleaning in the rooms a little and the public washrooms never had toilet paper. Although they are friendly staff they are a little slow. It is n [... read more]ewer and I feel they don't have enough staff or they aren't used to it being busy, and a lot of staff do not speak any English. Overall very enjoyable holiday.

Very nice place to stay

Food was great Rooms were modern Staff were friendly Beach was amazing Gardens will be beautiful in a few years as they are new it take time too grow Bartenders are amazing as well the Gardner's are talented they made us hats from palms all in all had a great time there. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone

Lovely but not 5 stars

An honest review of hotel is as follows; Pools: Large, clean, beautifully lit at night, but COLD. So cold, no one was in them! However I travelled in January which caused the weather to be hot with a very cool breeze. Had the weather just been hot, I'm sure the cold pool would have been refreshing. Beach: GORGEOUS! Really clear water, clean sand, and the beach stretched for miles, which is perfect for a long beach stroll. This second beach is well worth the walk, if you like being in the ocean. It was simply beautiful, with mass amounts clean, warm shallow waters, perfect for kids, or just lounging in the water (great way to tan and keep cool). Hotel: The hotel is located just 10 minutes from the airport, which is a big plus! We arrived quickly and were greeted by a lovely mariachi band. The hotel was beautiful but is still in construction phase for parts of it. The main lobby is stunning and has the most breath-taking view of the ocean. The grounds are clean, however where our room was located (building 43) they were still in the construction phase in the building beside us (like it was still in the concrete phase), and the grounds around us were still being cultivated. Room: Our 'lagoon view room' was actually quite a beautiful view, and allowed for beautiful sunsets to be seen. The room itself is modern and fairly clean, although we had an issue with ants! They were everywhere! So much so I did not unpack my suitcase, and needed to keep it closed the entire time it was not in use, in fear of having an ant infested suitcase! I also kept my suitcase off the floor, but ants were still everywhere. These are tiny ants but none the less i had the bang my shoes on the ground before putting them on. My partner was not as bothered by the ants as I was, because they were so tiny (FYI we were on the 3rd floor and the ants may have been an issue from the past guests who may have left the balcony door open...I assume this only because by the end of the week the number of ants had dramatically decreased). Bathroom: Spacious and modern, with an amazing rain fall shower. Beds: Comfortable, but we got 2 double beds (as did many other guests we talked to) as opposed to the queen/king we requested. Not a big deal. Service: Service was great almost all around. Maid Service: Our made wasn't the greatest (didn't sweep the floors a few times, and we had to ask for water and new bath towels more than once) ..although at one point we were told we'd get these things 'later' and once we did, instead of bath towels we were given two bath mats to be used as towels...so I'd say that issue was at the fault of the hotel and not the maid's. Servers: All the servers, whether the lobby, buffet, bars etc. were super friendly and pleasant in every way! Specifically Pedro who serves at the lobby bar, he was exceptional! Entertainment: There were always games, and dance lessons by the pool in the day. The nightly entrainment was full of talented performers, I especially enjoyed the authentic Cuban show that occurred the last night we were there. The music at the hotel is all live (other than by the pool in the day) and it is exceptional! Whether in the a la carte restaurants, in the lobby, or by the pool at night, there were live bands literally everywhere, every evening! Food: Wasn't amazing but for Cuba I'd say it was probably one of the better resorts for food. Breakfast was really good. They had many omelette and egg stations, as well as a crepe and french toast station. All of which were tasty! There is also cereal, different fresh juices, and other breakfast items available (bring your own peanut butter and ketchup if you want those items). Lunch and dinner at the buffet were pretty much the same and not the best, but doable. They have a pasta station, and a fresh fish, chicken, and beef station. However Cuba's meat is a little chewy..and their 'western' take on food a bit bland. There were 3 a la carte restaurants; Creole, French and Japanese. The Japanese teppanyaki was pretty tasty and fun the watch. The french restaurant was my favourite out of the three, not only is it beautiful inside, but the food is quite good and the ambience is lovely! The creole on the other hand... The restaurant itself is nice, but the food (I think the soup) made me quite sick by the late evening/early morning. Overall: I'd give this resort a soft 4 stars, but it most definitely has the potential of becoming a 5 star once the construction and ground work is completed, and if they improve their food. I would suggest to anyone traveling to Cuba, to choose the Pullman, and I would suggest the upgraded adults only section if possible. The adults only section had it's own pool with its own restaurant for every meal. The service there, I'm sure is impeccable.

Great resort

The hotel was gorgeous , rooms clean ,new and spacious, staff friendly and efficient, view from lobby magnificent The best hotel we've been to in Cuba. Food was also good and a great variety everyday. The al la carte restaurants were very good and very classy

Awesome Resort

We stayed here from Jan 7 to Jan 14. The view from the balcony is simply amazing. Only drawback is we had lots of windy days this week. Unfortunately the lobby has no coverage from the wind everything is open therefore very hard to find a place to relax and get a drink without feeling the wind. Food was great best I have had by far in Cuba. The Japanese a la carte was awesome. The French cuisine was also great. Nice New Resort

Resort was beautiful, very clean. Beaches unbeatable. Could not believe how delicious the food was as I had heard stories of the food in Cuba, but it was truly great. Shows were very professional. Desk/Restaurant/Bar/Entertainment staff were top notch and very helpful. Found our favourite bar tenders (Miry & Omelio) and often congregated around that area. Disappointments would be, room staff did not empty room garbage each day, replacement of beverages and coffee/sugar in room was hit & mi [... read more]ss. Had hotel pool towel stolen from pool chair and it cost us $20.00 cucs at the end of our stay. Especially after tipping immensely throughout our stay for every service that staff provided. Hold on to your towels or resort to theft if your towel gets taken. Pool water could have been a little warmer and an adult pool area would have been very nice.

You won't be disappointed!

This resort is still in the works but well worth the visit. The staff are so friendly and go out of your way to help you in any way they can. Food was top notch and the buffet had something for everyone. The grounds are well maintained and public areas are always being cleaned. Beautiful beach. The pools temperatures were cool. Maybe our time of year ( Dec 24 to Dec 31 ). Make sure you take a sweater as it is windy and cool at night. No need for an electrical adapter all our 110V fit in there ou [... read more]tlets. Don't count on Wifi as it takes for ever to log on and you just keep losing your connection.

Pros and Cons

I'm only going to make comments about the hotel not the bad experience we had with Sunwing. The view of the ocean, beach and pool area from the lobby bar is incredible. The beach is very wide and relatively long (you can cross a road to enter another area of beach which is quite nice). During the week we were there, they had made the beach a great deal longer and had added a great deal more umbrellas so absolutely no problem getting a spot. The rooms were nice but definitely had some flaws.  [... read more]Our complaint was the low water pressure and the lack of hot water and no washcloths. Another couple had a very bad musty smell and another couple was on the 1st floor so they complained of a few ants. My advice is don't settle for something you're not happy with because it will affect the rest of your vacation. No need to be rude...just express your concern. The food was good....a regular buffet (any pre-made dishes tasted like pre-made dishes). I stuck with the fresh food (fruit, omelet, fish, salad, bbq meat...adding whatever spice I wanted...just like at home) and of course the desserts are always good. We attended 3 a la cartes and the Japanese was hands down the best one for food. The drinks varied depending on what bar you ordered at so sometimes they were good and sometimes not so good. In fact, you could order one type of drink at one bar and go to another bar and they will say they don't know what that is or we don't have that liquor....to me, not a biggy but some people would get frustrated. Once again, you're in Cuba...food, drinks, bed, etc... are not the same as back home so if you are going there for these items and not the beach, ocean, weather, relaxation or party....don't go! The pool area and beach were well kept but of course the grounds are still developing so don't expect lush grounds...maybe in a few years. The men at the beach in the morning to help you get chairs were awesome. They were very friendly and moved the chairs where you wanted them, brushed the sand off and even put my towel on the chair....how sweet is that!! The biggest negative that the hotel has no control of is the wind....and more wind!! We asked if this was unusual to have so much wind and the answer was NO. The only activity taking place was kite surfing...no catamaran, paddle boat, snorkeling, etc..This is a huge deterrent for us...most days it was even too windy to play volleyball because the wind would take the ball in a different direction. Now for improvements that the hotel can work on. For every 1 friendly worker, there were 6 grumpy ones. Some bartenders would totally ignore you, the waitresses were seldom around and if they were, they couldn't speak a word of English so ordering a drink was pretty difficult. There was no bar service at the beach or the pool. They were very skimpy on the water left in the rooms and we asked for an extra once and we were told we were only allowed one...this caused a visit to the front desk. If the hotel wants to be rated as a 4.5 or 5 star, they definitely need to improve some things and treat guests in a way that they feel like they're staying at a 5 star. Overall, I had a nice stay. I would recommend this hotel but I would make sure I mentioned all my concerns and if they still wanted to go then at least they know what to expect....their choice. My last comment to make....to save people a lot of money, a waste of a day, and pure disappointment....DO NOT GO SNORKELING ON A CATAMARAN...they tell you they will cancel it if it's too windy and trust me they don't. We had 3 foot waves and they told us it was okay to snorkel...most people didn't even go in the water. It was very unsafe and they didn't care....IT WAS AN AWFUL, EXPENSIVE MISTAKE!!!

Great Resort

This was our 5th time to Cuba and the Pullman was by far the best resort. The staff was great the food was fantastic and the resort is new. 10 minutes from the airport great beach nice pools. Some growing pains with a new resort but all in all the best we have been at. We will be returning and would recommend it to our friends and family.

Great vacation

Overall resort is great, rooms, pools, beach and food are all very Good. I would recommend this to anyone looking to travel to Cayo Coco Cuba. If you like to get a workout in while you are away, the gym is also pretty good. Beach is awesome!!!!

A delightful surprise!

From the moment we walked into the lobby we were impressed. Ample comfortable seating, a friendly staff and beautiful view looking over the pool and out onto the ocean. The rooms were nicely done. Typical hard beds that we have come to expect in Cuba but really comfy pillows. Bathroom had a frat rain shower and a soaker tub. For some reason many of the toilets needed to be pumped I order for the tank to fill but not a big deal. Plentiful seafood at the buffet and the a la cartes werethebest I've experienced in my 15+ times to Cuba. Nightly entertainment was professional and the Cuba. Bands playing in the lobby and restaurants were excellent and a lot of fun. Not unusual for band members to dance with guests. I would highly recommend this resort and plan to return. Also and perhaps best of all, it's only a ten minute drive from the airport!

Fantastic Resort

When going to Cuba, food is often an issue, but not at the Pullman resort in Cayo Coco. Plenty of variety and the three specialty restaurants, seafood, Japanese and French are just that....special. The rooms are spacious. We stayed in Bldg. 42 and had a view of the ocean. There is a little bit of a walk to the restaurant but for those with walking issues there is a shuttle. What makes this hotel are the staff. They are amazing and accommodating.
