We booked this resort knowing that it was new and would have some kinks. I can say it was on my least favorite list and I personally wouldn't return. Below is the good and the bad
Good:
Staff are really friendly
Rooms were nice
Steakhouse was great
Liked the layout of the resort
Bad
Shower head in room was broken
Didn't clean our room daily or replace towels
No lounge chairs available
Beach is rocky like giant rocks unswimmable. Lots of seaweed no beach chairs
No reserva[... read more]tions for a la carte need to put name down and wait hours! Privilege guests can bump you out as well
No night life
Food at buffet was the every day
Pro large is royalty to h10 so you feel the hierarchy when there
Time share sharks are everywhere called our room hunted us down annoying!
Pool was turning green by third day and had algae around the outside
Went to show no seats in theater

Ocean riviera paradise - awesome resort!
We recently stayed at ocean riviera paradise and it was such a great resort! It is brand new, clean and modern. There is a shuttle that brings you throughout the resort which is nice on very hot days. A bunch of restaurants to choose from which you do not need a reservation to get into and the wait is not long. You can go to a restaurant every night and return to the same one. Buffet was very good as well. The staff is very attentive and kind. The rooms are gorgeous, clean, beds are comfortable [... read more]as well. The beach was nice with a lunch restaurant that overlooks the beach and a lot of huts for shade and a few beds. What we loved the most about this resort is that it caters to every age and every personality. A variety of pools for the party type, the quiet relaxing type, kids and more. It was nice to have a bunch of excursion options and photographers along the beach to help you capture great souvenirs. Nightly entertainment was great as well. We will definitely be back!

March 22 Oceam Riviera Paradise
Hotel is new and is great shape.....Although too large for My personal preference, would highly recommend for families as lots for young children to do. Beach not the greatest with some rocks in water. However good long stretch in either direction for walking and exploring.

Most beautiful resort!
Our small family went to this resort with our 2.5 year old son. We loved the rooms. The beds were very comfy, the rooms were very large and spacious. The balcony was a great way to spend late nights to have a romantic time together while our little one slept. The food was the best we've had anywhere. We did a few of the special restaurants but we loved the buffet more sometimes. The staff were very friendly. The only drawback back was the sales sharks that waited for us daily as we went into bre[... read more]akfast. They were friendly but persistent which we didn't like. The beach was rocky in the beginning but we knew this so we brought water shoes that helped. But it was beautiful. The water slide pool area for my toddler was so convenient and fun most times he could be on his own since the water was only a foot deep. We also loved the fact that we could sign out push cars for him so that we didn't have to bring a stroller
We want to go back next year. We felt 7 days wasn't enough to enjoy it all. Thank you Tania for how you booked a great pool facing room for us near the end and it was all perfect.

Excellent family vacation
The resort is very large and well taken care of. The rooms are excellent and new and clean . There are many food choices. The beach needs some grooming but the ocean is fabulous. Comfortable chairs and lots of towels are available. They could use a bit more staff at the bars but we had no complaints and had a lovely family holiday and we would recommend this as an all inclusive hotel in Mexico 🇲🇽

Lovely resort - fantastic staff
Myself and 3 other ladies just returned from a 5 night stay at this very new resort. I'm happy to report, it was everything we expected and even more! The food and service was exceptional for an all inclusive resort, the rooms were beautiful and clean and the vino very cold!! We spent a lot of time at the beach where there is also a pool which is awesome. The music at the El Beso and Eden pools is fun and upbeat as well.
My only non positive comments would be, there are no bars open at n[... read more]ight outdoors. Only the lobby bar and sports bar are open after 6pm and both are enclosed spaces. I would recommend they utilize the big space outside of the lobby for some sort of open air lounge with music of course.
Also, not enough garbage cans around the resort ( don't give people an excuse to litter )!!
We would recommend this resort without question and I hope to go back with my hubby someday!!

Beautiful Resort
We stayed at this resort from March 2 - 9th. Will keep this review short as you have seen many before this. We had two rooms and no problems with either; great maid and bar service; plenty of hot water and towels, etc. Restaurants all good with the Steakhouse being the best for us. Buffet has great selection and the food was delicious -- no complaints. Bar service at the El Beso pool was quick with no line-ups. We didn't spend much time at the beach however it is very nice with a pool , ba[... read more]r and restaurant...No problems with getting chairs at either the El Beso pool or beach. Staff are super friendly and we had no problems with conversing with them in English. Disregard ALL of the negative reviews; some people may have had minor problems and like to complain but we did not. Check in / out was fast and efficient.... email me with any questions... Have a good vacation!

What a great experience!
We stayed at the resort in early March with another couple (4 in total). Both of us stayed in the Eden Rooms, closer to the beach, but farther from most of the complex. This was no problem at all! The walk was as short or as a blissfully long as you wanted it to be. Take a trolly if you need to get somewhere fast, or wander and check out iguanas, talk to friendly folks or peak around at the gorgeous design of this hotel. At the beach there is a restaurant/bar so if you are really getting hungry [... read more]you can just head there.
The rooms themselves are beautiful, clean and modern with great views on any side. Great staff keep things clean daily and are constantly around if you need anything at all. The walk in showers are amazing.
The food is what really shines here for us. Seriously, the Blue Moon Restaurant was better than most places up here in Winnipeg, with classic French service preformed by gracious waiters, it was fantastic. The buffet rocked for every meal and the 'cafeteria' is on the the most pretty rooms I've ever sat in. There are more a la cartes here than you can eat at in one week, crazy!
There are lots of choices for things to do during the day: pool, beach, tennis, basketball, kayaks, volleyball, pingpong, bowling, pool games...so much! The sports and entertainment staff does a great job keeping you moving.
The check in was easy, and yes there are some folks trying to get you into a timeshare but if its not your deal, just say no gracias and they won't bug ya.
All in all, a great experience. We would totally recommend this well run, beautifully designed resort to anyone. Young, old, single, couple or family, there is simply something for everyone.

Very Nice Resort
Just opened in Dec. 2016. Very clean and new. The gardens were all still young but I think once they start growing they will be very pretty. Big, clean rooms. Loved the basket swing on the deck. Large bathroom with a separate shower/jet tub. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We found that at the lobby bar it was understaffed and you had to wait quite a while for their attention. They also didn't take reservations for the speciality restaurants it was a first come first serve basi[... read more]s which made the wait very long. We waited 20 minutes to get our buzzer then had to wait another 30 to have ours sound to tell us we would be seated. All kinks that I'm sure will be worked out over time. The resort was close to 5th Avenue (which I loved). We had a fantastic week of weather and relaxation. Very nice spot and I would go back.

Adult trip to Ocean Riviera Paradise
We traveled to ORP with a group of adults for a parent's get a way. All of us have traveled to the area in the past and were looking forward to returning. We had a great week with no major problems. Rooms are beautiful and beds are super comfortable. Loved the water pressure in the shower and we had no problem with housekeeping, everything looked great. Drinks were always available at the bar or from the waitresses around the pool, only had a wait time during the peak of the afternoon enter[... read more]tainment. Buffet at breakfast was fantastic. Found it a little strange that we would have to wait to be seated at the buffet, occasionally causing a line up, but that seemed to improve over the week. Not having reservations at the a la cart's caused a lot of waiting, some nights we weren't seated until 10pm. But overall the food was great.
As it's a brand new resort you can tell that they are still working out some kinks, but it wouldn't cause me to not recommend to someone else. You could see that most staff were doing everything they could to make things go smoothly.

Great resort!
Great food, however, the a la carts would be less frustrating if you could make a reservation. Sometimes the wait was over an hour to get in. The grounds were nice but not kept as clean as I've seen other resorts. The same with the adult pool. The water was cloudy and not nearly as clear as it should have been. Overall, we had a great time and would recommend the resort. It's a new resort so hopefully it continues to improve.

Being new the buildings are beautiful and clean . All the trees are newly planted and in a few years the grounds will be beautiful as well. Lots to eat at buffet of course ( repetitive, as usual) Pools were large with swim up bars. Nice water slides for the smaller kids and entertainment staff were always fun . A strong 4 star

Ocean Riviera Paradise- 5 star all the way
Our trip to Ocean Riviera Paradise, in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, was fabulous.
Before we left home I had read mixed reviews of this resort, and was a little nervous, but I would go back tomorrow. You can always expect a few bumps, with a new resort, but to my opinion we had very few.
Upon arrival we had a warm greeting from staff, at check-in. Arriving at 10 am, we had to wait until 3 pm, to receive our room key. This gave us a chance to tour the ground's and try out the buffet, and some[... read more] cold drinks. We where upgraded to the Eden Suites, from the El Beso.
Our suite was a ground floor, rm.4161. In the bathroom was a whirlpool tub,a 2 person rain shower, and hand held shower, and double sink vanity. Sleeping area had a king bed, while the living area had a leather couch, and 2 leather arm chairs. On our patio was a hot tub, and two arm chairs, along with a double tanning bed, in front of the patio. We where 2 min. from the beach.
The food in the buffets, was very good, with a wide variety to choose from. Whether it be for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. We ate in all the Al acarte restaurants, which where walk up(no reservation). The Steak House was great, we done it twice, Mexican was also good, Route 66 we also done twice. The Italian was good, and the Seafood we enjoyed. We also enjoyed going to Mikes coffee shop after the shows, to have a coffee and piece of dessert.
The entertainment was good, depending on your liking. Some shows we enjoyed, and some were not for us. The bowling alley was pretty neat. It had 5 lane's, I believe, of 10 pin.
The shuttles where handy if you needed them, which run front to back, every 15 min.,all day long.
Overall we enjoyed our stay, and wouldn't hesitate to go back. Don't believe half of what you read, just go with an open mind, and enjoy.

3 star resort with Management issues - Stay somewhere else
The Ocean Riviera Paradise is not what is advertised in the brochure.
Check-in took until 7pm because the managers did not want us to know that they placed us in a construction zone that at 8 am was a mix of buzz saws and hammering until the evening. They wanted us to pay extra to have a room away from the noise and the smells of varnish and paint.
The beach and pools were good. Not as much activity as at other resorts. Seems very understaffed and there are long lines for everything (ev[... read more]en to get into an empty buffet)The showers flood the bathrooms so if you go, plug the shower with towels or you will walking in an inch of water. Don't be fooled by the "newness". This resort will age rapidly and unless they hire more staff will not improve at all.
We stayed in the Daisy Section - if you are thinking of booking there - don't - especially if the construction is not complete. If you are already booked there try to switch it.

Horrible Accomodations Your question or comment Nine members of my family checked into the Ocean Riviera Paradise hotel in Playa del Carmen on February 18, 2017. We were made to wait 4 hours for our rooms. The building we were in, Daisy, is only half finished and the construction saws, tile saws , hammering and pounding started at 8:00 AM and ended at 6:00 PM or later. This isn't a case of construction in a nearby building, this is construction in the same building, separated from all our rooms by 10 feet. The noise was relentless and the smell of paint and plaster was pervasive and constant. Several evenings we had to seek refuge on balconies to escape the noxious odors. I have numerous videos and pictures . My adult children were constantly being woken up each morning as construction resumed. This isn't a matter of complaining of a little inconvenience. This resort is not ready for guests. It is a disgrace that the management was not sensitive to our problem. We pleaded with all levels of management and guest services at this hotel to move us anywhere and they refused. We tried you airtransat rep, Mauricio Jimenez, and he told us that the management is difficult and unlikely to help us. He also said he would file a report. Air Transat contacted a colleague of mine a week before they came to this resort in January and suggested to them to that they might want to change plans because of the construction. Which they did. I did not know they were booked into the same hotel. I have booked air transat hilidays for decades. Why were we not afforded the same courtesy ? I have appended 3 photos below but it is the videos which also include the construction noise which makes the case for this hotel's abuse of some guests. Fantastic resort - Wonderful Memories created
An truly amazing vacation experience !! - The hotel is a fairly new resort and we arrived anticipating a few things may still need last minute refinement. While there were few minor and I mean minor issues nothing that spoiled our vacation. Resort staff went out of the way to make us feel comfortable, always friendly, very courteous and went that extra step to make us feel special.
Our suite was nice, king bed spacious and very clean - housekeeping was efficient, at time a little to efficie[... read more]nt as they were knocking the bedroom door early to get started.
The casino wasn't yet open, (opening soon) but this didn't bother us there was so much more to do. The bowling alley was a nice touch and we made friends with the manager there who again made our bowling experiences fun.
Entertainment staff were first class, daily activities poolside and the beach were fun to take part in and we experienced our first pool foam arty - great fun and with laughs.
Evening entertainment shows with venues within the large seated indoor Theater and outside Plaza were top rate with professional entertainers, musicians, acrobatics, dancers, vocal artists to name but a few of the many we enjoyed.
Outdoor pools were clean, well maintained and an abundance fresh clean towels always available. The beach was amazing, soft white sand and many walks were enjoyed along its shore length.
Dining, without doubt an important part of any vacation - 'amazing' is all I can say. The many a la carte restaurants offered varied and quality cuisine. The Blue Moon for romantic dinning was our favorite with the Italian and steak house restaurants close runners up. It was evident that the chef's at each location took great pride in what offered and how it was presented.
Mike's coffee shop and the ice cream parlor were side by side and once again much enjoyed by us.
Dinning at the Ocean Riviera was definitely 'TOP SHELF '
Trolley transportation through the resort was constantly running and though not far to walk from beach to lobby it was very welcome on occasions.
One part of the resort we didn't find until our last day was the indoor pool / hot tub area located within the spa facility .. do check it out, it looked relaxing and fun. We will next time - for us there will definitely be a next time and without reservation we would comfortably recommend this resort to anyone . .... do go and enjoy, we did very much so !

We'd go back in a heartbeat!!!
Just returned from a one week stay at the ORP in an Eden room. I was a bit apprehensive over the bad reviews I read before I left. As expected for being open 2 months there are still kinks that need to be worked out but overall, I had an AMAZING time. The OR promises a 5 star experience and I can honestly say that I enjoyed one. Being brand new the resort, facilities, rooms, beach, pools and grounds are beautiful and pristine. The staff is incredibly attentive and service is stellar.
Check [... read more]in was seamless taking 15 minutes. We received a delicious welcome drink, and we were drive to our room 5 mins later. . A very nice woman named Marta was introduced to us as our host. She provided maps to the grounds and the area, provided coupons for tours and tried to get us to attend a welcome (sales) breakfast the following day. We declined and were never approached by her, or other 'salespeople" again. The room was impeccably staged and prepared for our stay. The mini-fridge was well stocked and remained so all week. Housekeeping was fantastic.
We spent most of our time at the Eden pool. Delicious drinks, daily bingo, dance classes, aqua fitness, crazy games: heaven! We strolled to the El Beso pool for the Tuesday foam pool party and were not disappointed! What a blast! We feasted at most of the restaurants and enjoyed not having to line up to make reservations. The Japanese and Italian restaurants were top-notch, with the Mexican and Romantic in second place. The breakfast buffet was fresh, plentiful, and served up with Mimosas: who could ask for anything more? We enjoyed daily lunches at the beach grill, followed by a quick dip in the beach pool. Sadly, we did not swim in the ocean as it was terribly choppy and much too rocky to enjoy. We did however indulge in sinfully amazing beach massages, and woke up early to witness a beautiful sunrise by the beach.
Although all pool bars close at 5:00 p.m., the lobby bar remains open (for what seems like 24/7!) and sets the stage well for the nightly entertainment. We watched 2 evening shows in the theatre, caught a live fire show outside, and enjoyed browsing through the goods that local vendors set up one evening. The bowling lanes are a very popular spot and so we only managed to enjoy bevvies there, and no actual bowling. Was great fun to watch and is a hit with all guests.
Overall, I would highly recommend the ORP for all groups (families, couples, singles). Note that it is a very large resort, with golf carts and busses only travelling through unpredictably so some with mobility issues and young children could find it challenging to make it from one end to the other. If you are looking for a clean, modern, ultra-chic resort that is a quick taxi ride away from the action in Playa Del Carmen, look no further. This is the spot for you!

Ocean Riviera Paradise
We loved our trip to Ocean Riveria Paradise. Considering it is brand new there are still a few kinks To be worked out and little construction going on, none of which did not affect our stay. The construction workers fit in just regular grounds people, sometimes you would hear from drilling noise but nothing to switch resorts about. We stayed in the El Beso section and loved our room, it was close to the buffet and main lobby, a short walk to the pools and beach. Our room was clean, some days the[... read more] house keepers weee not consistent with cleaning times, how well they cleaned or how many towels they left, but it was not a big problem for us. We left an extra $1 tip in the fridge with a note asking for specific drinks and snacks and we got them everyday once we figures out they like when you leave money. We mostly stayed at the beach during the afternoons, went for strolls down the beach where you walked passed other resorts including Princess Resorts. Beach was a bit rocky but once you got out past the rocks it was ok. Pools were fun, lots of activities going on. We enjoyed all the restaurants and a la carts except the Mexican we did not try. Loved The Blue Moon reataurant the most and the Steakhouse was just ok, steaks were thin and not much flavor. Italian, Route 66 and Japanese we loved! Also loved the ice cream parlor and Mikes Coffee, went there everyday. We also used the Spa, had a couples massage and loved every minute of it!! It was our second last day there when we went to the spa, wish we tried them sooner cause we would have gone again for sure! The lobby and bars all very clean, good drinks. Shows were fun, enjoyed the magic show. Bowling also very fun! Only annnoyance was the staff bugging you and trying to bribe you into doing their Priviledge Tour, they would not take no for an answer, luckily we stuck with it and never did it! Loved this resort, has a great children's area, good lay out, not too long to walk but does have trolleys going around, would come back again!

Lovely resort with growing pains, some communication problems and some irritants
We did enjoy our week at this resort. Loved the food and walked the expansive beach-- but there were some issues which were very irritating. For example, on our arrival there was only one door key available for us -- considering that occupancy was low, how is that possible? We had to return the next day. We were also shocked at the towel card which advised us that a lost card would cost us $100. That is a ridiculous cash grab when many resorts are not even using towel cards any longer -- and [... read more]I could buy many towels in Mexico for $100.
After an early start and spending the day travelling, we had to run the gauntlet through sales people --one after the other. The following day we were approached 6 times just going to breakfast and then going through the lobby to get our second door key. It continued throughout our stay.
We needed to get smaller bills (pesos) in order to tip. The front desk seldom had change and when they did, they would only change 100/200 pesos at a time. They even sent us to the bellboys and bars, but no luck. Very frustrating and irritating that they did not clue in to a need and rectify it.
The staff did not always know which restaurants were open. On one occasion staff at one restaurant told our friends that they were closing yet in the information, they were supposed to be just opening. On another occasion, we were told one specialty restaurant would be open--only to find out (after walking a ways to get there) that it was closed.
Entertainment starts way too late in the evening (after 8 p.m.) for families with children. Because the resort has such a wonderful water park for children I am assuming they want families. Most children were heading to bed around 8. The same complaint applies for the opening times of the specialty restaurants.
