Melia Punta Cana Beach Wellness Resort Adults: Happy but not Happy
To start with the good part, the resort is beautiful, they definitely maintain the property and the beaches and as people who love to walk we always had a nice view. We lucked out with the weather as there was a snow storm back home and all we had to face was 27-30 degree weather (Celcius) and at most 10 minutes of rain.
There are nightly activities at the main resort which can be very fun.
Some of the issues we experienced were as follows:
- every night the air conditioner would start to [... read more]leak down the ceiling into our bathroom. Someone had to come and fix it every day but it never was fixed. Another couple we were talking to was experiencing the same thing.
- the alcohol at the resort is not the highest quality. Not from lack of effort my wife and I didn't manage to get very drunk. Note: The Sparkling wine at the resort is 6.5% so that's part of the reason the Mimosas weren't getting the job done. Doesn't explain the beers or the Gin and Tonics though.
- They made some efforts in response to Covid-19. They handed out plastic gloves and did record when you were at the buffet, they asked you to wear masks on the train but they weren't enforced too strictly. There was a large bridal there during our stay that we caught licking bare fingers and touching tongs and mini sandwiches with the same fingers.
- Please note that Steak (or) Lobster (not steak and lobster as we had believe) and the Japanese A la Carte's are not included but the rest of them are included in the all inclusive fees and make sure you book well in advance as the popular ones fill up very quickly. This was very poorly explained. Scan the QR code on the envelope when checking in, its more useful than just having the wifi password.
- When we were leaving the resort my wife and I were sitting in the departure area. Our ride to the airport left without us. There isn't a check list and no one calls out "Airport" so be sure you are all over the staff working in that department. They will very quickly have a cab driver bring you there for $45 US should you miss the ride. It's a third party company managing this so I don't think they are too concerned if you make it or not.
- The buffet was the same food every day. The couple we were talking to on the last day said it best. "We are glad that we only stayed 6 days instead of 7, I don't think I could handle the buffet another day".
We are glad that we went but I don't think we would go back to a Melia resort. Definitely not this one.

Paradisus Palma Real Golf and Spa Resort: Great Experience
Rooms were nice. Restaurants and food was good. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The beach was beautiful.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely go back again. We would have stayed and extra week, if we could have.
Covid protocols at the hotel were done well, and they made it very convenient to receive our PCR test required for the return flight.

Zel Cozumel: Better than last time
This resort is extremely well maintained. Everything is spotless. The staff work hard to make sure you have a great vacation. Rooms are very adequate and spacious. The food is better than when we were here 3 years ago. Staff all wear masks and the majority of guests do, also. Masks are mandatory in restaurants for guests. Drinks are very good, not watered down. The beach is amazing. Due to winds, some days it’s crystal clear and turquoise. Other days, it’s murky until you get out about 10 fe[... read more]et. Some days there is seaweed and some days, there is none. The entertainment is very good. We will go back!

Paradisus Palma Real Golf and Spa Resort: Beautiful resort but lacking management quality service
We spent a week at the Paradisus as I had read reviews of this resort being one of the best in Dominican to have a wedding and I wanted to do in-person research and possibly book the wedding. The resort is architecturally beautiful and all of the main areas, pool and beach are kept as clean as possible. The wait staff and entertainment staff were very friendly especially Imael at the lobby bar who makes the best happy coffee, Ruby at Gabi Bar, Alejandro, Darlin and Jairo from the entertainment [... read more]staff. We had fun dancing with them most nights! But the hotel and management side of the resort doesn't work as well. The hotel rooms are nice but the washrooms are open concept - fine for couples not so great for friends or families visiting. There really isn't too much privacy. The huge bathtubs looked nice but didn't look clean enough to use. There were discolourations and marks on it. There is a definite issue with the phones as some of them don't even work. We had to use the phone in the bathroom to actually talk to someone. The cleaning service for the rooms did do a good job on a daily basis but I found the mini bar wasn't replenished every day.
Our entire contact with the management team was really uninviting. When we checked in we were told we had a concierge who would contact us but no one ever did. We had asked for a room with 2 double beds but despite asking twice, we ended up with 1 giant bed and a roll-away bed (we were 3 girls in 1 room and we all wanted our space). On our 2nd night, my friend sleeping on the roll-away bed realized she had bed bug bites all over her legs. She had experienced bed bugs before so knew what to look for on the bed as proof. As it was late at night, we decided to wait till the next morning to inform management. They didn't seem to recognize the signs of bed bugs (rusty blood stains and fecal matter residue) but that could have been a language barrier. We asked for a new room and they were good enough not to argue about that. We met with the supervisor Emelin at registration and she initially did suggest they were mosquito bites but didn't push further when my friend said this was her 3rd time and she knew the difference. We were promised a new room that afternoon and once again I asked for 2 beds and the sofa bed to be opened up - we were not going to get another roll away bed. We had also asked about the concierge that was promised on day 1 and were told we actually weren't eligible for that service but they would give it to us now. We met with Reina who gave me her phone number and said to call or text her if we needed anything! That afternoon after spending the day at the beach, we went back to the lobby, picked up our suitcases and got escorted to the new room only to find we had 1 bed again (the beds are pushed together). We asked the person who escorted us and they said they would get someone to fix it. We then opened the fridge to get some water and it was empty!! We had to call someone from the bathroom phone but it is impossible to get through and talk to someone who understands. We tried a few times and we weren't sure if the person we spoke to understood as there was no clear response from them. I texted our concierge who said she would look into it and I walked back to the desk to tell them that we still don't have 2 beds and no water. It took 2 hours for our fridge to get filled! I understand that they might be short staffed after COVID but they are also only at 40% capacity. My concern is that the service issues is not a temporary issue. We went out for dinner and came back at 10 and we still had just 1 giant bed for the 3 of us. So we started again with calling from the room, texting the concierge (with no response from her at all) and we got the service in under an hour. The concierge never even responded to my message. The next message from her was the activities for the day received the next morning. We did not see her or receive any more messages from her for the rest of the week - not even the activities for the day!
I also asked when I checked in to talk to someone about wedding inquiries. It was friday evening and no one was available till Monday. I had to email them to get an appointment. My email was returned by Monday aftenoon at which time we were waiting for water in the new room after having bed bugs! I emailed them back the next morning and told them the list of issues we were having and that I wasn't sure about having a wedding here anymore. They apologized and asked which resort we were staying at. I was sad that they couldn't even coordinate that information on their own!
My friend posted her review on our 3rd day in and on the 4th day, we got told we were getting upgraded to the Reserve service - access to a separate buffet restaurant for breakfast and lunch, the adult only pool and bar with premium drinks and 1 separate restaurant. While we really enjoyed all of the perks, the hotel did not see fit to give us this as soon as we reported our issues - only when we complained on a public forum.
Lastly, there is a management practice that we really did not appreciate. The entertainment staff who we had so much fun with knew when it was our last day and literally were forcing us to give the hotel a 5 star review. I can't blame them for following the instructions they were provided but management has told them that if they don't get a 5 star review with their names mentioned, their jobs are in jeopardy. You cannot give the hotel a 3 star review but mention their names and give them credit. They went so far as leaning over you and hitting the 5 star button on your phone to make sure it gets done. This really turned me off the hotel management as the final straw. Exploiting their staff's connections to force a review. I can easily say that I will not readily choose Paradisus again because of all of this even though I enjoyed the sun, the beach and the food!
The Melia Punta Cana was amazing. Grounds were meticulous, rooms were cleaned daily with fresh towels and rose petals. The staff went beyond our expectations. The food and drinks were top notch!! Loved it and I can't wait to return.

Melia Punta Cana Beach Wellness Resort Adults: A very pleasant and safe vacation!
Very nice and spacious resort. A solid 4 -star resort! Well organized with golf cart transportation frequent and efficient to get around the whole resort.
We were very pleased with the implementation of the Covid sanitary measures at the Melia Caribe in Punta Cana. All staff wear masks at all times inside and outdoors. Guests must wear masks indoors ( not when seated at tables) and plastic gloves are mandatory at all buffets. Utensils are pre-packaged in individual paper bags. Clearly all is w[... read more]iped and sanitized between guests. The Covid test is readily available via a private clinic right on location and everyone reminds you to pre-book your test. Very top of mind!
Ecologically, the resort has moved to paper cups and wood spoon, very nice to see. They also encourage limiting towel changes of you wish.
Overall, a good value. The food was only good. Plentiful and many restaurants, but the quality was just regular.

Zel Punta Cana - All Suites: NOT the reserve at Paradisus
We were extremely disappointed arriving to the “reserveâ€, only to learn that it is under construction and our room was a sorry equivalent. We reached out to our travel consultant, Wendy Harrington to change our arrangements only to be ignored. We ended up paying extra to stay at the Gran Cana, ended up having a good time, just a sour taste from the whole thing.
Grounds are extremely tropical, well cared for, staff friendly and everything is kept clean
English language is not as good as some other resorts but that is also up to us to try Spanish. I felt comfortable with my stay

Melia Punta Cana Beach Wellness Resort Adults: Amazing resort, beautiful property and excellent customer service
The experience at the resort was amazing. Beautiful property, clean rooms and excellent customer service. It is not a party resort but we were looking for something that was relaxing and peaceful with a nice beach. We booked Level rooms which made the experience even better. It a great experience for the price we paid.

Paradisus Cancun: Most Amazing Resort!
Initial thought while just driving into the resort was “WOWâ€. The staff is absolutely exceptional and during my 7 day stay, not once did any staff member show a bad attitude. Food is great and the habanero salsa is a must try. The pools are clean and water is fairly warm. The ocean view is something you can’t get tired of and I definitely recommend upgrading to it if you plan on visiting. I was worried about seaweed on the beach since I’ve heard that Cancun is notorious for it but the be[... read more]ach was surprisingly clean. Definitely would recommend Paradisus Cancun and I can’t wait to go back!

Melia Caribe Beach Resort: A guilty paradise during Covid!
This was our second time to this resort, and we were in an upgraded area called The level. The first time we were here we were in the adults only section also called The Level so it can be a bit confusing. My recommendation is if you are adults travelling it’s worth it to upgrade to the level and then you can also go onto the adults only area etc. While the resort has done an excellent job of maintaining COVID-19 protocols, there certainly were Some big hits and then some equally big misses. F[... read more]irst off I would like to recognize the wonderful staff who are working and trying so hard. While the resort was closed for eight months They were not able to retain all of the experienced staff so there was a combination of experience staff who returned along with very inexperienced staff. This was evident in areas such as the barefoot Grill on the beach where they would leave cooked items out for hours, and we’re talking about pre-cooked hamburgers, french fries, chicken nuggets, etc. which could’ve easily been cooked fresh upon order. Instead they were left in the open air in metal Buffet containers for im guessing are least a few hours which is a huge no-no and it was completely in edible. Same goes for the Merkado snack trailer where I was actually given a completely raw hotdog… And I’m not kidding it was completely uncooked! Also during breakfast it seems that the staff are not checking to see whether the heater or lights are on in the Buffet area and one morning I had 2 completely ice cold poached eggs. Needless to say this is a quick way to get your guests sick, but having said all of that for the most part the food was good and absolutely wonderful at these restaurants: the Italian,Quimera, the Vietnamese (muoi) the Riviera and the Buffet at the American Grill was also OK. We were really disappointed when we had a meal at La Hacienda which is the Mexican restaurant. When we were here last time this was a highlight of our trip but this time it was a complete disaster. Again you could see the inexperience is what came into play and made the experience far less palatable than expected. The grounds and the pool and the beach are all amazing and while the swim up bars are closed you can still easily get whatever you want to drink without any issue. I really noticed a difference in the quality of the liquor as last time we were there in 2016 we could get all top shelf liquors but not now. it looks like most of the liquor is local which is OK but you don’t get the same quality. Also our butler Reynaldo a.k.a. Ray, was absolutely amazing and looked after our every need. He texted us every morning to see how we were and what our day was looking like and where he could help. Truly this was such a help for us and even though we had been there before he helped us navigate through a few different things and nothing turned into an issue as a result of his care for us. I also wanna Shout out to other staff such as Alexandra Amanda, Catherine, Jennifer, German, Carlo, Moses, and so many others that made our stay so enjoyable. Considering that we were able to come during a pandemic and Just not have to think About it for a week was a really good break for us so thank you very much Melia Caribe tropical and we look forward to seeing you again next time!

Paradisus Cancun: What we needed!
Before I described the resort; I'd like to say that we travel every year to all inclusive resorts that are rated 4.5 to 5 stars. We are an active couple in our low 50's. Before booking this resort, I read a lot of the reviews which I will address. We went to Paradisus Cancun Royal Service. The Royal Service is worth it. The arrival was fantastic and fast. We had someone assisting us as soon as we came out of the bus; very nice. The room was absolutely great with ocean views as soon as you step [... read more]in. I do agree with the reviews about the very dimmed lighting in the bathroom; I literally brought my makeup by the patio door where the lighting was bright. Some reviews complained about the lack of English channels; this is totally incorrect, there were plenty of English channels. We had room cleaning service morning and night which was very nice. The Royal Service pool was great with good temperature water. Within RS, you have the La Palapa restaurant which is by the pool area with ocean views. It is absolutely delicious, we ate all our breakfasts there and a few lunches. There is one buffet and it is good; not the best I have seen but very good food. We tried all the restaurants; my favorite was Vento, Bana, Feugo. Mole was really good but we are not fans of traditional Mexican food. Our least favorite was Enzo. Blues Agave...we read the menu then walked out...not interested. In general, the food is excellent and the service is awesome and we never waited for anything. About the chairs and Bali beds; there are plenty of chairs and you have access to as many towals as you want. You are allowed 2 Bali beds for a 7 day vaca. By 11 o'clock, if there are empty, go see the pool manager and you should be able to get one. We were there for 10 days and I got one everyday. The beach is long on each side; you can walk for ever if you want. There are no entertainment around the pool at the RS. The staff is just great, they really make your vacation better. Kudos to Degner, the pool manager, Moises, Joel and Manuel around the pool. All and all, it is a great resort.

Paradisus Punta Cana: Disappointed
There is good and bad.
Resort was empty, maybe to do with the Corona virus or just how m\bad service is.
Rooms were clean and beautiful and air conditioning worked great.
Service was not good!! Half the resort was not even functioning everyone was complaining. We paid full price but only half the amenities were available. There were two buffets open at different times of the day that were not buffets that we have ever seen before. We were told they are trying something new called Micro buff[... read more]ets in which they have tiny portions of salads and carrot sticks. It was awful no choices hardly at all. Says 11 restaurants on their site and casino onsite. Nope buffet and it was impossible to get an a la cart as half were closed for the whole week and no casino onsite, all I was told is ya we have to update or site!
It's really to bad as the resort itself is so nice and the beach is great but will not go back

Melia Nassau Beach Resort: Review of Melia Nassau
The hotel & property on the whole were quite good - lots of different places to swim, relax etc. The beach & its facilities were fine.
The food however, left something to be desired, primarily because most of it was never hot. Cold scrambled eggs first thing in the morning are a dreadful way to begin your day! The smoothies for breakfast were lovely, on the other hand.
My greatest criticism lies in the appearance of a gazzilion college students who showed up in spring break! We really wer[... read more]e upset. We would have easily come another week. Why were we not told this at the time of booking?

Great place to visit. Great design throughout. The rooms are a little outdated though, but still tasteful. Great double showers. Comfortable bed. Beautiful landscaping on this immense property.
