rooms are clean, bright and new,,,food was fantastic,,,pools and beach are the best,,,entertainment was top notch,,,live band on one of the nights,,piano bar in main lobby was very entertaining,,awesome resort

Fantastic vacation!

Exceeded my expectations. Beautiful beach. Great staff. Amazing views! The buffet is a typical buffet, however the chocolate chip cookies are to die for. We went to the restaurant overlooking the pool & ocean every morning for a fresh omelette. Thank you Gina!!!

Was a fantastic vacation

It was an amazing resort.The staff were great and so friendly and helpful. The food was good.Entertainment was good.Showers leaked on the floor but that"s just a small thing that can be fixed.Beach was amazing, Loved walking it everyday.Maids did a great job cleaning the rooms and surprised us everyday with their towel art,

Wonderful resort!

Just returned from a fabulous week at this sparkling new resort! My wife and I and our 4 travelling companions had a great time enjoying the pools and the amazing beach. The hospitality from the staff was as good as it gets, friendly and engaging people who make the effort to ensure the guests are well served. Special kudos go to the beach and pool bar staff (especially Oscar!) and the lifeguard Guillermo. Too many nice people whose names I do not recall! The food was typical for a Cuban resort  [... read more]in the buffet (average) but the a la cartes were fantastic and above average for sure. As a new resort they still had a few minor bugs to work out (lost power one night for awhile, no water another night) but even these minor inconveniences did not change our overall impression of the place. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. The theater was still under construction but will be open soon and it will be gorgeous. Entertainment in the court yard area outside the buffet was very good under the stars! There were many excursions to take advantage of (although we just relaxed within the resort) but there is nothing really to do locally. I should mention that the gift shop is very small and only has some basic souvenirs and toiletries. If you are planning on picking up gifts or cigars you will more than likely have to get them at the airport on the way home or take the bus into Cayo Coco to the small market they have there (an hour bus ride, 5 CUC return trip). If we ever chose to go back to this area of Cuba we would certainly stay at this resort again without question. Hope this review helps anyone on the fence about heading to Cayo Guillermo.

Awesome vacation!

Great resort ! Very clean , comfortable room . Easy access to all areas of the resort . Beautiful beach , did go to Pilar beach but preferred the Grand Muthu beach .Staff exceptional !, friendly and always willing to help . My luggage wheel fell off during flight there and maintenance Man was able to fix it .Lots of pool space and pool chairs . Enjoyed the pool exercises .

Very nice

This hotel was very nice and spacious. A bit pricey, but we did leave our vehicle for the week so with that and the hotel room I guess it was reasonably priced. The only problem we had was at the airport for pick up time the vehicle they use to pick up and drop off are very different - this would have been nice to know at drop off time. Clearer markings on the pickup bus would be helpful too.

Amazing resort !!

This was the best resort my husband and I have been to. We have been to Mexico, Dominican and Cuba, but this resort has topped all. The pictures of the rooms do not lie...our room was exactly as pictured. The grounds however nice, where under development and I'm sure in a few years will be exceptional. The food was acceptable for Cuban food. It was a great improvement from our past visit to Cuba a few years back. This is a very mature aged resort...we found this resort to be very relaxing, with  [... read more]a few families with children but most guest on the mature side. I would have liked to have more activities available, but overall a great resort for the price.

Lovely resort ...incredible staff!

Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo is a lovely new resort... fresh and modern ... the staff were excellent and extremely helpful when we had several small issues... everything was resolved quickly and with a smile. The resort is about a 30 minute bus ride from the airport. The resort is adjacent to but NOT beachfront and the water warm and shallow...it would be great for small children...we enjoyed walking way down the beach in the afternoons ...Victor at the beach bar was super friendly and offered gr [... read more]eat service! I only wish there was a giant garbage can on the beach for all the plastic cups and straws people left littered all over the beach ( or bring your own refillable cups) And get to the beach early if you want a chair under the shade shelters! The pools were all nice and new however the water quite cold and you had to be there by 7 am if you wanted a chaise with shade ( the resort could use more shade shelters or umbrellas) Definitely bring a warm sweater as the exposure of this resort seems to be always windy plus the indoor restaurants are keep quite cold with air conditioning One suggestion for the front desk would be to post events for the day somewhere central like the lobby so that guests know what and when things are going on.. we missed certain things because we didn’t know they were happening... The food was plentiful and varied ( except for fresh vegetables) but we were never hungry.. the a la carte restaurants were good ( although portions were very small) and don’t forget to bring that sweater... ( I wish there was more open air availability for meals) We booked a snorkelling excursion with Hola Sun but it was cancelled due to rough seas and high winds and were refunded our money so we felt happy about that The staff at the lobby cafe/bar were incredible.. working constantly and so so friendly! Everyone there was incredible!! (Especially Lesli) Canadian dollars were exchanged for Cuban pesos at the front desk anytime of day Entertainment was varied and mostly fun.. something for everyone.. the big theatre was not finished yet so we had most of the shows in the courtyard by the restaurants and it was fine( again I wish there was a posting somewhere in the lobby to explain when and where events were being held) Rooms are spacious and bright with a lovely balcony.. big bathroom with a modern large shower ( no tub) ...we had some flooding happen in our shower but it was dealt with immediately and they completely fixed the problem so it didn’t happen again... towels are plentiful and toiletries are supplied. There is a safe in the closet ( and lots of hangers) Eguardo the bellman was fantastic and helped us get a room with a king bed ( as we had requested) since we were assigned to a room with 2 doubles...His English was excellent!! We really enjoyed the variety of live Cuban music throughout the resort .. it helped create a truly ambient holiday! The service at this hotel was amazing and you couldn't have asked for friendlier people!! We like smaller resorts and this one fits the bill with only 500 rooms.. the landscape will be nice when things get grown a bit more and there are tons of groundskeepers constantly working even in the heat of the day to keep things nice... much appreciated!! A lovely resort overall!

Great resort for families

Considering this place just opened, we were very impressed with overall experience . Rooms were great , beach amazing. Indian and Italian ( recommend to only order pizza - best item !) very good . Pina coladas in main lobby the best . Mixed drinks a bit limited but we managed with mojitos and other options that were available . They need to work on adding more spice ( even pepper flakes as an option at pasta and stir fry bars ) but buffets were sometimes a hit or miss . Kids entertainment good . [... read more] My 4 yr old enjoyed mini disco and for adults don’t miss the aqua ballet ! Worth the trip to playa Pilar beach (short bus ride ) . Recommend to take foil or something to wrap food in if you need to grab and hamburger or hotdog to go back to room or to take by pool . We struggled a bit but managed with napkins , etc . Staff really trying hard to make an effort , great trip and would go back !

Good Hotel

Nice rooms, clean grounds, very nice pools, amazing beach, only Bémol: A la Carte Restaurants. Not too well sized, Food is not what should be in a kind of restaurant. Better choices and quality at the Buffet.

Our trip to Grand Muthu, Cayo Guillermo, cuba

My recent trip to Cayo Guillermo grand muthu was fabulous. Catharine Robertson at trip Central booked our vacation and answered any questions that we had. The hotel is definitely a five-star, wonderful people, beautiful pools, rooms and entertainment. It was our first time to cuba.i definately will return. So pleased with everything. Thank you tripCentral.

Wonderful stay at Grand Muthu!

We stayed at Grand Muthu from March 30 to April 6, 2018 and had a blast. Service is very good, I have no complaints about anyone, food was very good, and they put a lot of effort into the shows. The pools are all stunning and the hotel is conveniently located near Pilar beach, one of the most beautiful beaches in the world! This hotel seems to only attract families, only one of the nights the disco was somewhat busy. If I had any complaints, it would be the cleaning in the rooms, I never experie [... read more]nced any issues with bugs but cleaning was below par for a 5 star. Despite that, my family would say hands down this was our best trip to Cuba (we go every year atleast once.)

Great New Beginnings!

Fabulous start with Vicky Sullivan as our agent! She was quick to respond and fantastic at making sure that we were advised of what was happening every step of the way. She even let the resort know that it was our honeymoon and they greeted us with wine and chocolates. The rooms at this resort were beautiful and well appointed. Can't say enough about the staff. They were friendly, welcoming and tried so hard. For a brand new resort, we expected the management to be checking in with the  [... read more]visitors to see how things were going, but the management didn't seem to speak with anyone except each other. Poor layout in the kitchen with lots of lines. Beach is beautiful as well as the pools. Pool bar hard to get to unless you go through the whole pool. Love that the resort is small with easy access to everything.

Grand Muthu

We were quite impressed with the hotel, although its only 1+ weeks old they had enough palapas out in the beach, and the seating around the pool was great. The a la carte dinners were ok, we had the Aqua (seafood) and the International. The Aqua was very good meal and tasty, we weren't impressed that the menu for the International resturant was only one meal - meaning you couldn't pick off the menu- everyone got the same thing, and it was too late to hit up the buffet after our meal. The snack  [... read more]bar was very good with a buffet during lunch hour, and very good ham and cheese sandwiches at other times. The beach was very good! One of the best beaches we have seen in a long time. Very shallow, and while we were there very calm. You could walk out very far on the sandy beach. Or go for a nice walk down the beach to the pier. The rooms were fabulous! Very spacious, and restocked daily. The grounds need a little bit to fill in, but all in all, a very nice layout to the grounds.

Great Beach, great staff

Brand new resort was good for a Cuban resort. Food adequate, fresh made eggs and omelets for breakfast, stir fry for lunch/dinner were very good. As is normal in Cuba the buffet for was adequate, not great. The beach was beautiful new palapas being built and appear to be almost complete. Beach bar could be closer to where the palapas and chairs are, it was bit of a walk to get drinks. The week we were there it was very windy. Not sure if this is common but they are on the north shore of the i [... read more]sland. Service was okay. I really feel they need much more staff than they have. Waited what seemed like several minutes for drinks at most bars. Especially the lobby bar. Rooms were great very clean maids did a great job of cleaning rooms. They are very appreciative of tips as all staff were. We were with a party of 10 and as with most vacations it is the people you spend time with make it special. Not sure if the 5 star rating is accurate even for Cuban resort standards. We were only able to get two a la carte meals and not the expected three, again this may be related to not having enough staff to handle the amount of people at the resort. My wife was first in line the first possible day to reserve our seating and we were only able to secure two. The a la carta restaurant meals were very good (Italian and Seafood). This was our fifth time to Cuba and I would rate this resort somewhere in the middle of the five different resorts we have stayed at.

Great vacation

I would recommend this hotel to anyone. The rooms, pool, service and food were excellent. The entertainment was mostly in Spanish, but good. There is not disco, it could use a place to dance, preferable classic rock music. The room fridge should have had water and beer replaced daily, you had to request it. The beach bar is great and the service wonderful, but the huts are far from the bar. Great experience and would definitely go to this hotel again

Awesome trip at the Grand Muthu!!

This brand new hotel is absolutely beautiful. The 3 pools are awesome with the last one being an infinity pool overlooking the ocean. The rooms are spotless and modern. The beach is beautiful and just a short walk over a boardwalk. The only issue we had is that it was really windy for part of our trip and I think the location of this hotel might make it windier then other resorts on this strip. I would definitely return and would recommend it to anyone.

Decent resort

Dining: decent for Cuba Service: great Beach: you have to go super early to be able to get a palapa because most people reserve it and don't even end up using it! Very annoying that they don't do something about this.. my husband is fair skin and he burns very easily. Pilar beach is very close and so amazing! Cons: my husband was harassed multiples times about his Blue Jays hat..the staff even asked what our room number was and wouldn't leave until we told them.. very unprofessional.

Great resort

have nothing bad to say about my stay everything was great. we had to change rooms once bec there was no pull out couch that turned into a bed in our room and we were 3 people in one room. our friends room kept on having their water in there room go off. but ours was fine. food was great. workers were great. beach was nice. would recommend to others.

Lovely resort

The resort is beautiful and the staff very friendly. It has a well thought layout and everything is within short walking distance. The pools are amazing (not too deep) and the chairs and bali beds confortable. There are activities for all ages and the rooms are spaceous and modern. Some min points are the flyes at the buffet, slow service at times and the sea weed as you enter the beach area. The beach is beautiful and there are palapas and plenty of lounge chairs. A la carte was ok, sea food an [... read more]d indian very good, international an upscale from thr buffet. We would definately go back but would first check the condition of the facilities before doing so. A month into the opening and the pillows on the lounge chairs at the pool were getting dirty and we found scratches on the room furniture and stains on the walls. A matter of cleaning and being kind to the rooms but at this rate the resort might lose its vharm within the year. All in all a great holiday at Grand Muthu!
