Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Vacation January 24-31, 2019: Never Again

Beach, pool and grounds are nice. Bathrooms in common areas are disgusting. No toilet paper available most of the time. Beach towels are very scarce. Received fresh beach towels twice all week. Fridge in room was restocked with 2 beers once all week. We paid extra for diamond club and barely received the extras we paid for. It should have included ocean view room, service on the beach, etc...when we checked in we got a ground floor room facing bushes. NO ocean view and all they could say is ‘ [... read more]sorry we are fully booked’. Bed sheets were not changed at all during our stay, sheets smelled musty and were stained. We set low expectations on food in Cuba but one night they actually ran out of bread on the entire resort! ‘Sorry’ was the theme of the week with no real sense that they cared and absolutely no effort to find a solution. The on-site Sunwing Rep made no effort to help and didn’t care at all either. I could go on and on, but you get the jest...NEVER AGAIN!

Had a wonderful time weather was great resort is old needs some upgrades staff very friendly and helpful beach was amazing took a jeep safari lots of fun took the local bus to town for the market thanks

Iberostar Origin Playa Pilar: Nice Resort

Overall, our stay was a good experience. Only a few annoyances, crying toddler next door, safe not working and very loud music (standard for most resorts I hear). But the staff was great, grounds well cared for and a beautiful location (amazing beach within walking distance). Also, staff didn't pressure for tips which was wonderful and actually made you want to give more.

Hotel Mojito: Excellent Resort

Iberostar Mojito is an excellent resort in many ways. The beach is second to none,the staff friendly and the tourists who frequent this resort seem to enjoy themselves more than the 35 other resorts we have stayed in. The nightly entertainment in the lobby is varied and really exceptional. We enjoyed many dances to the different musicians who entertained everyone. The staff who ran the evening children show were very impressive and the children and their parents were fun to watch. The staff work hard to organize that event. If you like to meet good people this is the resort for you. Enjoy.

Hotel Playa Coco: Wonderful vacation

We just returned from a week at Hotel Playo Coco in Cayo Coco, Cuba. We had a wonderful time. Rooms were clean, beds very comfortable, we had no problems with hot water. Food was good a d I really liked the Japanese supper. A new beach restaurant has opened and it was great! Could sit and eat looking out over the ocean from either in or outside! Hotel Playa Coco: Great holiday

Staff was very helpful and friendly. A la carte restaurant's were great. First visit going back next year. Beach was very good with many activities. Many off resort activities.

Melia Costa Rey: great time in Pullman

great restort had lots of fun buffet was good not enjoyable had to stand and wait in lineups for meat - the service was good and bad the bell boys at the end of our trip were rude we called 3 times for them to come and get our bags and they never showed and when we stuggled down 3 floors and the gardern helped us with them the bell boys were standing around doing nothing assholes. other than that great time with a great friend.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Best beach in Cayo Coco

Love Memories Flamengo Beach resort. Best show in Cuba for sure. This year the hotel was full to capacity so there were no way to change the beach towels unless you ask the room cleaning service. Food was as usual for Cuba. The hotel was very discret about shortage of flour or coffee. We didn’t suffer to much. Was serve at the resort anyway but with a bit of limitation. Orange pool party was the shine of the vacation. Good music and entertainment. This is the Best resort for Cayo Coco.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Amazing Resort

The hotel was amazing. My family and I had an amazing time. We had great rooms, the food we ate were great as well. The staff at the resort are friendly. We are already thinking of planning a return visit.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Cayo Coco Memories Flamenco

Food was acceptable, grounds and restaurants were clean and well maintained. There is an issue with water supply, our room building 5 room 5116 had water every day but only hot for 2 days. Other buildings didn't have any water for a few days. The Cuban restaurant did not have any coffee or rum, difficult to believe. Otherwise it was fine and the flight delay coming home was understandable.

Muthu Colonial Hotel: Amazing beach, depressing resort

The hotel is way outdated with doors and windows that don’t close well, no hot water for two days, no light bulbs on stairs, no Mojito at the bars, poor food selection and full of Russian tourists. It says 4 stars, but in reality it is close to 3 stars.

Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo: By Cuban standards very good resort

The service and bar tenders Vitor and Juan at the Beach bar is excellent. The food and service at the Indian and Italian restaurants were very good. The service and food at the International and seafood restaurants were horrible. The service at the snack bar is also terrible. There is no organization at these three. Majority of bar tenders are bad when they can not even do a proper Cuba libre mix when they do not add lime. Most of them except to get tips for lousy service.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Excellent Value

I've been to 3 different resorts in CC across 4 trips so I have a good idea of what to expect while there. Memories Flamenco occasionally exceeded those expectations and never let me down. The staff are totally amazing, even under pressure, which they sometimes are because of how large the resort is. The grounds were very well maintained, considering how recently Irma landed, it was impressive. I had an issue with my room which was promptly corrected, so I'd say the resort is well run. Once  [... read more]you get a feel for the timing of the buffet (which has the best hours of any resort I've stayed in), you will not have to wait too long for the hot-stations, and you may even be completely satisfied by what is on offer in the hot trays. It was never a challenge to put together an appetizing & healthy plate and there was lots of variation from day to day. The 24 hour snack bar had a good menu and they indulged our bizarre requests to combine various items. If you're bringing family, you may not have the luxury of timing and might end up in some longer lines. The beach is definitely the best of the 3 resorts in that stretch, with ample shade and reasonable numbers of beach chairs. The chair cold war was very much alive here, sadly, with lots of people dropping towels before hitting breakfast and then seemingly never returning (at least not while we were there between 11 and 4!). It'd be nice if the resort just collected towels after 2 hours and freed them back up, but we never went a whole day without at least eventually being able to scrabble together enough seats for everyone in our group. Being able to walk to Lenny's is great, the dunes and lagoons on the way are beautiful. The market for this part of the island is also walkable from the resort, and we made ample use of the bowling alley there when the weather wasn't co-operating. Having easy access to the Buenavista Social Club show there is also a nice perk.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: great value for your money

very clean resort, staff were engaging and very helpful. Beach amazing. Only draw back was pool loungers and beach loungers not enough for guests. I did not go to the pool once. Staff should reinforce their policy for not being able to reserve the loungers

Melia Jardines del Rey: Amazing Service - Mediocre Hotel

The staff was absolutely fantastic. They were kind, positive & went out of their way to make sure your time at the hotel was incredible. The staff made the trip. The rest was dissapointing. We stayed in a room on the ground floor. There were dead bugs/flies all over the wall and we spent atleast 1 hr every night killing flies. My son got hurt by the pool twice on the tiles, small cuts on his toes. The food was the roughest part. Hopefully you can live off fries and water. None of the food items  [... read more]are marked so definitely not the right spot for someone with any allergies. The nights were great, shows were awesome. Again, staff made this trip!

Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo: Amazing people. Nice resort

The resort is nice. Decor is clean and modern. Rooms are nicely decorated, very comfortable beds, great bathroom, especially the shower. We stayed in building 7. Had an ocean view room. They upgraded us without asking! Wifi is $1 peso per hour. And it worked throughout the resort, even in the rooms. The usable beach is off to the side of the resort. It has a great beach bar with the best mojitos!! No complaints about the beach, who can complain about a beach anyway? You can take a long [... read more] walk and pass a few other resorts. Grand Muthu seemed to be the busiest of the resorts in the area. The food. There was always something to eat, however the selection was very limited. But once you figure when and where to eat, you will get by just fine. The 24 hour snack bar offers a small buffet as well as a menu (look for it as they didn’t show us one until the last day) which is what I lived off of for breakfast and lunch most days. There are many things to keep you occupied including tennis, soccer, basketball. As well as table tennis, pool and even bowling. Beach activities include pedal boats, catamarans, kayaks and beach volleyball. There is a disco at the resort, however we never made it there. I believe it just opened. Now the people. The staff are amazingly friendly, kind and humble people. They alone made me love Cuba despite the food. Bring gifts if you can. Cologne, perfume and clothing are much appreciated as well as toys for kids. Money is not as important to them as they are unable to find these things even if they have money. The snack bar staff were amazing Alber treated us like honoured guests every time he saw us! There were so many amazing people working at this resort I wish I could name them all. Lastly you must visit the restaurant on the beach. It’s a 3 minute walk just past the beach volleyball net. There you can get a mixed seafood plate containing Lobster Tails, shrimp, fish, salad and rice and plantain for $20 Pesos. Totally worth it! Give Grand Muthu a try. Keep an open mind and remember they are truly working with minimal supplies.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Unremarkable overall

I have been to Cuban all-inclusive resorts on four occasions so what follows has at least some basis for comparison. 1. Our room was always kept clean and tidy by the housekeeping staff. The room itself was a different matter. The couch, bed, and bathroom had seen better days. In fact the general "physical plant" of the resort was all but crumbling. Perhaps the most disconcerting issue with our room was the the door to our deck (which had a fantastic view of the beach and ocean) had no actual l [... read more]ock. While it was on the 3rd floor, a common balcony was next to it. I could go on about no mattress cover, peeling paint, mold in the bathroom but my observations should be clear. 2. The fridge worked some days and not others and was only stocked on the first day. It seemed to me and to those few I spoke to that requests to address issues was met with a simple transfer to another room (which often had different infrastructure problems). I realize that some of these issues were due to recent storms in the area, but many were clearly long-standing. Without doubt, the long beech was among the best I have walked on in my life. The greatest draw of this resort IMO. 3. I know that before we go to Cuba that the food will not be particularly tasty or varied. However, the food at this resort is in another category. First of all, the ques for having parts of meals (fried fish, omelettes, pancakes etc) were slow and long. One of the pizza cooks was using an two-deck oven where one of the decks was not working. Much of the food seems to have been frozen and reheated--even veggies. This was even the case at the ethnic restaurants. Prepared salads tended to be a creatively presented mix of aging veggies to the point that they became a kind of slush when put on people's plates. 4. Most of the workers were among the best I have ever encountered at any resort. I had a severe medical issue that was handled by the resort doctor and communications person with genuine care and promptness. The servers, gardeners, towel guys, and many of the bar/lunch places were excellent. Conclusion: while the crumbling physical plant and food were well below the 4* designation (even by Cuban standards) the genuine care and professionalism of the workers was outstanding and the beech was outstanding. If a beautiful natural surrounding and delightful staff mean more to you than average food and well maintained buildings and grounds I think you would enjoy going to Iberostar Daiquiri all-inclusive resort. Otherwise, you may wish to consider other options.

Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo: Not a 5 star hotel

We just got back from the grand muthu in Cayo Coco Guillermo abd I was not impressed we were above the restaurant room smelled like fish took us 3 days if complaining to get water pop and beer in fridge the bar sevice in lobby was horrible took forever to get a drink they need more staff very slow service. Our maid was nice and kept room clean. The food was ok as you are in Cuba. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. The cigar lounge was nice and quiet, there were a lot of small children r [... read more]unning around so if your looking for a quiet resort this is not the one.

Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo: Relaxing Vacation

The Grand Muthu is a a new resort located on the beautiful beach of Cayo Guillermo. This is the place to go if you want to relax and walk for miles along the beautiful sandy beach. The food was comparable to all the resorts we have been to in Cuba. The service was very good especially the rooms, beach bar and lobby.

Iberostar Origin Playa Pilar: One persons opinion

The hotel was nothing special. My fridge was not stocked daily, my balcony door did not lock and my toiletries were not restocked daily. I did find the beds very uncomfortable after a couple days. The resort itself was nice and staff were friendly. My only complaint os that there was nowhere to buy bottles of water.
